@Jenn23: Eeeeep about last day! That is so crazy! How did it go at the end, I feel like that would be so crazy walking away knowing you're not coming back! You will have such a great time at home with Jay! Will you work again FT once he is school age, or ?
Chels and I went out in the stroller today, I had her forward facing in the bob, not in the carseat for the first time! She couldn't really move though, between the snowsuit and blankets I stuffed around her, she was pretty stable! She loved it, but then fell asleep, lol.
She is back sleeping until 4-5am again, but now I'm back to being awake, 2, 3am anticipating her waking, these babies change back/forth to different habits so fast, here's hoping this sleep streak sticks and I adjust, too!!!
DH and I dying laughing watching Betty White's off their rocker, omg....too funny.
We ended up passing on the two new builds we were potentially going to look at for next house, but the builder of our current home is coming back to the area to build again for 2014 closings, and we may look into that to upgrade a little from our current home, it would be like half a km (not even) from the school C would go to, and we'd only move there if we got a lot that backs on to a park and soccer field, we'll see!!
Glad it's the weekend and DH just has home games for hockey, woo no travel this weekend!

@Jenn23: Yay for last day of work! How did it feel?
@Beebug: Love that show! So hilarious.
A has been showing an interest in sitting up and standing. He loves when I pull him into a sitting position. Sometimes on his back it looks like he's doing little baby sit ups. And the other day, he was hanging out in his swing and he looked like he was trying to sit up straight. Told dh he better make sure he's always strapped into that thing. Otherwise, one day soon, he's going to hoist himself out of there! He used to like to lay back on my legs and now he's constantly trying to push himself upright. So awesome! I think he'd enjoy a bumbo, but not really sure I want to purchase one. He still hasn't figured out his hands tho. Sometimes he sucks on them, but that's about it. I wonder when they start trying to grab stuff?

Oh and is anyone else's hair starting to fall out like crazy? My drain is full of hair after my shower and I'm constantly picking off stray hairs from all over myself.

@mrskc: yup, my hair started falling out a couple of weeks ago and I have to make sure I clean it out of the shower drain every morning so we don't have a flood!

@mrskc: Leo also looves standing. And yes my hair has been falling out like crazy! We have a bumbo but can't tell how much he enjoys being in it.

@mrskc: same with E! We have to use the safety straps on everything now because he squirms and attempts to roll, sit and scoot himself all the time now.
@Beebug: you should've snapped a pic of C in her stroller! I put E in there as a joke a few weeks ago and he looked hilarious. he looked like a little peanut compared to the space he had around him:)

@TurtleDoves: I will take one tomorrow!! I'm sure we'll be out again, went today too!!!!! Everyone is lovinggggg her (even more, lol) the baby legs, so, so awesome!!

@mrskc: not falling out, but I just feel like I'm shedding more! Maybe falling out to come? Ugh

I don't see my hair falling out but every once in a while when I look in the mirror, I think I see areas that appear much thinner than normal. It is very odd!

My hair is coming out like crazy! Sometimes I think I am going bald. I would like it to stop soon.

I don't know what is up with C's sleep, but man oh man. I think I was up like 8x with her last night. Ew,
AF back again...ugh. I think I am going to start counting down the days til when Mirena comes out in June.....bleh.
Took C to hockey game yesterday, she literally watched and followed the play, everyone around us was loving it, man she was cute, it was too fun, she fell asleep for the 3rd period, lol.
Nursing/feeding question. Chels is now fairly regularly refusing her 1-2pm feeding, she is currently nursing when we wake up, then 10-11am, then 1-2 pm, then 4pm, then 7pm (and then bedtime). At first I thought it was no milk (as you saw me posting about) and it's been messing with my mind. Is there a chance she just isn't hungry? Even at breakfast this morning, on the 2nd side like 2 minutes in she just looked up, smiled, and wouldn't go back on, more efficient? Do I keep trying to feed her when she's regularly refusing, or stretch out that interval? Or??
Zumba at 1 with C today.
High of -13 here tomorrow....I'm thinking an inside day, brrr!
squash / 13764 posts
@Beebug: so it sounds like she's eating 5x per day? That' seems ok...L eats 6-7 x per day depending on naps. As long as she's having enough wet diapers, I would guess that maybe she's just not hungry! Or it might just be a weird thing that passes in a few days and she'll be back to her regular eating schedule. I feel like these babies go through spurts where they'll do one thing, and then as soon as you think you have it figured out, they'll change it up! Can't believe it's so cold by you, brr for sure!!
We put L in his toddler seat for a walk yesterday, as he's almost outgrown his bassinet! He looks like such a big boy in there We need to get a stroller muff though--anyone have any suggestions? I'm leaning toward the 7am enfant one but it's so expensive!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@hilsy85: Yes, 5x per day, plus one overnight, but refusing 1 of those 5, usually the 2pm one. Feeding 4+1 doesn't seem like enough, so will just play around with the timing and see if it helps? Yes about them changing things...lol....keeping me on my toes! Lots of wet diapers and poopy ones are pretty predictable for now too, lol.
bananas / 9357 posts
@Beebug: It's probably normal. How old is she? Could she be going through the 12 week wonder week? Things always get wonky during wonder weeks. A nurses about 7-8x a day. There have been days where he nurses less and days where it's more. I think they just go through spurts. There have been a few times over the last couple of days that he was refusing to nurse. Ate for like 2-3 minutes and popped off and was crying. He was just tired and I put him down for a nap and he woke up ready to eat. Like @hilsy85: said, if she's getting enough wet and dirty diapers, then she's doing fine. You could always go get her weight checked if you're really worried.
@hilsy85: Aw cute! He looks like such a big boy! I think JJ Cole makes some foot muffs? Not much help. We don't really need those where I live.

@mrskc: James is liking sitting up lately too! I was thinking about a bumbo - i have a friend that said she was done with it though so I'm going to get hers and see if he likes it! I have also noticed more hairs around lately, but it's not falling out in big clumps.... Do you put A on one of those floor play things? James has one and at first was just batting at the hanging things, but now he grabs onto them! He likes having a toy to hold on to now. so cute!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Beebug: i've been going thru the same thing lately - LO only wants to nurse for 5 minutes at a time and then when i try to coax her back on, she cries and bats at my chest with her arm. sometimes i've had to shove my boob in her mouth and she cries then starts feeding! its so weird. i usually nurse her around 1 hr 45 mins per day, but the last two days, its been a lot less. i'm guessing its a phase.

@hellobeeboston: Jay just started grabbing the hanging toys about 2 weeks ago and loves it! He also loves grabbing my hair if I don't have it pulled back.
Today was my first day at home with Jay. I miss my co-workers and work, but it is nice to be with Jay!
My hair just started falling out more again recently, too! Wonder why?
@Beebug: High of -13?! Yikes! It's going into the teens here the next few nights and I think that is cold!! Hope you had fun at Baby Zumba! Oh, yes I plan on going back to work once jay starts pre-school in a few years.
Jay still isn't trying to roll over. Anyone else with a baby with no desire to roll, yet? He loves standing up, though! He "dances" on my lap and loves it.

@Jenn23: A shoes no interest whatsoever in his hands. He will suck on them sometimes and grip an object that comes in contact with his hands, but he hasn't tried swatting at anything yet. I keep wondering when he'll figure out that his hands belong to him.

My hair is falling out big time! It's awful. It doesn't help that she is pulling my hair constantly. I need to learn to keep it up more!
I am still CDing, but I have to be honest and I can't say I love it. She gets a rash if I skip the bottom balm once, and I've spent tons of money on different detergents, time stripping them, and water doing extra rinses. The fit also seems a little off because she always has the lines like it is too tight, but too loose and they leak. Also, this is a little petty, but none of her clothes fit over them, and the next size up, she looks like she is drowning in her clothes. Lastly, when she is laying on her back, she just does not look comfortable since her butt is so raised. But we put so much money into these and DH and I really want it to work out.
I go back to work tomorrow I can't complain too much because I'm going back for 2 days for 2 weeks, 3 days for 2 weeks and then full time. I do have a question about pumping though. I want to EBF when home with her, so I'm not sure what to do with Thursday's pumped milk. If I freeze it at work, even with ice packs, I'm afraid it will dethaw on my hour commute home. (And I can't load it with ice packs because I have to carry all this in addition to everything else.) I don't know how safe it is to refrigerate at work and then freeze at home. Any advice?
squash / 13764 posts
@Jenn23: Leo also has no real desire to roll over! Sometimes he looks like he's going to, and then nothing. He is however, obsessed with his hands, they're constantly in his mouth or grabbing toys on his playmat. It's so fun to see him flinging stuff around.
@Tidybee: sorry to hear about teh CD challenges! And the whole diaper making her too big for clothes isn't petty--I would be peeved by that too! And I'm pretty sure you can freeze milk that has been refrigerated, as long as it's within the 3 day guideline. But I'm not positive about that. Hope your first day back goes well!
LO's new wakeup time seems to be 6:45...I know it could be worse, but anything before 7 just is exhausting for me. He was up at 3:30 and I nursed him, and then 5:30 and I gave him his paci, and he fell back asleep til 6:45. I have no idea what happened to my waking-up-once-a-night sleeper! Maybe this means he's working on some milestone (like rolling over)?

I always miss so much. I follow on my phone but its too hard to reply on there...
@mrskc: My hair is falling out like crazy. Gross. I asked my hair stylist and she said its completely normal with all the hormones and most pregnant women get extra hair during pregnancy so it is just the "extra hair" falling out now. Hoping it doesnt last long!
@hilsy85: So cute! I have a JJ Cole bundle me for the car seat and LOVE it! One of my best purchases to date. I know they have ones for strollers too.
@Jenn23: Addison just rolled over last night for the first time and this weekend I could swear she had no interest in it. It pretty much came out of nowhere, besides her sometimes pushing to one side. We will probably wish for the no movement soon enough haha they will be crawling everywhere before we know it! She is also very aware and obsessed with her hands! Grabbing at everything and always sucking them.
@Tidybee: Good luck going back to work! I EBF at home and pump while I am at work. I pump and put the milk in the fridge then freeze it once I get home. If you just put it in a little cooler/lunch bag it should be ok on the ride home. Once you freeze it though you cant let it thaw out then freeze again.

I feel so behind on this thread.
I have been shedding alot more but I haven't lost any huge amounts of hair yet.
Is anyone already planning LO's first birthday? I started planning it and setting a budget today. I already have her gifts planned out and the venue.

@Tidybee: Sorry to hear about the dipes. I laugh about the bum up when laying in them, it took me a while to figure out that's why it never seemed like she was laying flat. Perhaps use them enough to get your money out of them, sell them and switch to sposies? We never use diaper cream with ours, your girlie must be sensitive to the detergent or fabric? It's not red dots is it (yeast, and not from diapers?) We had that and I was treating with diaper rash cream and it wasn't going away, wooops.
I am so excited for you with LOs rolling over, C seems no where near rolling over! Rolling to one side in crib, but that's the only time she goes for it!
Slept better last night, I went to bed 9:30, she woke after 1am to nurse, then didn't hear from her again til 5:45.....which was fine by me. Brought her in bed after nursing, made it to 7:15. She is napping on me now!
It is COLD! -16 my car told me, not factoring windchill. I saw people out, a couple, with dog and bob! I drove to park today to throw ball with dog and left C in car. I stood beside car and peeked in window every so often, she was cozy and snoozing!
@Mrs.B: Definitely not planning LOs birthday yet, nor will I be doing anything that involves a venue, good for you! Probably will just do dinner here and invite grandparents or something, I'm not into extravagant birthdays!
My uncle passed away yesterday, so I had a tough go yesterday. I cried during Zumba, I didn't even know about his passing at that point, but I was weirdly emotional yesterday and then found that out, he had been sick with cancer, and thankfully is no longer in any pain, but man life isn't fair sometimes.
squash / 13764 posts
@Beebug: so sorry to hear about your uncle
@Mrs.B: also nowhere near thinking about LO's birthday!! Seems way too far away to start planning for me. We'll probably do something small with just the grandparents and maybe aunts/uncles.

@Jenn23: I'm with you on baby with no desire to roll, C only goes to one side in her crib, but outside of that (playmat, hanging out on rug on floor, etc) shows no interest in rolling!
However, side crunches? lol. When I am nursing and she's done she looks like she's trying to do a side crunch up to me and it's SO funny, lol.

I have been keeping up on the thread on my phone.
Nolan loves to roll over from tummy to back. Nolan has always loved tummy time, lately he loves to lay on his activity mat on his back. He has been grabbing at toys trying to pull them to his mouth of course. Also lately he loves to munch on his hands.
I am wondering if Nolan is allergic to eggs. I have noticed when I eat eggs he gets extremely gassy and his bowls are more mucus (sorry TMI). Egg allergies run in the family as well as dairy intolerance. I want him to get just BM until at least 6 months but I am not sure I want to go through the elimation diet. Anyone else struggling with this?
Nolan has an appointment with the Childrens Hospital Oral Surgery group about his Upper Lip tie. (Tuesday 29 @8:30). I am hoping it goes well.
Hope everyone is staying warm it is very very cold here.

We got our BFP Feb 5th! Feb 14th is our dating anniversary though, cheeeesy!
We had an appt to look at a house tomorrow afternoon, but cancelled it, we're gun shy, lol. It's cost is fine if there was no work needed to be done, but just looking at pics, there's stuff I'd want to do -we were looking at it more for location, but we will wait things out some more, we're in no rush to move.....unless you were us last night when our hot water tank exploded in our basement, I went down to do diapers in out laundry tub and found quite the mess......we've had such a crappy week.
I went into work today, visited my bosses and some colleagues, it was -21 today, not factoring windchill, so....inside time is key right now....eugh!
I love that our BFP anniversaries are coming!

C has officially figured out the game......spit out soother, Mom comes back. I've left her to cry for 10 mins, I have no issue with her crying, the spit out/put it back in stuff is/was going to drive me mental. She now follows me in/out of room and as soon as I pass doorway she spits it out, just fed her both sides, burped, she was dozy when I left her, there's no need for this, so frustrated right now.

@Beebug: We got our bfp on February 5th last year too! I'm sorry you've had a rough week
Elliot's sleeping is really improving during the night. We put him down drowsy but awake and he goes right to sleep (bath and bedtime starting at 7). He still wakes up around 1 and then around 4 and wants to eat but I've been gradually decreasing the amount I feed him at the 1am wakeup and last night I just put his paci in and he fell right back to sleep instead of crying until I fed him. Success
He has zero desire to roll over. He's come close quite a few times but he hates being on his tummy with a passion so he gets upset pretty fast. He loves standing up though and bouncing in his jumper!
And he's almost exclusively formula fed. My freezer stash is almost gone and I'm pumping very very little per day now. I'm still a little upset about it but I'm feeling more confident in our decision as time goes by!
squash / 13764 posts
@MrsRcCar: aw yay!
@Beebug: sorry for your rough week! As for C, have you tried other types of pacis? Maybe a different kind would be easier for her to keep in her mouth. Or maybe a wubbanub, which helps keep the paci in place (http://www.amazon.com/Wubbanub-Infant-Plush-Toy-Pacifier/dp/B0028IDXDS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359033782&sr=8-1&keywords=wubbanub)
@Running Elley: that's awesome about E's sleep! Good for you re: drowsy but awake...we still rock L to sleep for naps and bedtime, I know I should start doing drowsy but awake but don't want to deal with crying! That's also great that he's decreasing his night feeds. And the formula thing would definitely be tough for me too, but you worked SO hard and basically EBF for the first two-three months, so he got so many important antibodies. And I bet his tummy troubles are easing up on the formula? You're a great mom and doing what you need to do for your LO.
Re: decreasing night feeds, I feel really bad--last night, after starting that thread about trying a paci instead of nursing during night wakeups, L slept from 7:30 to 4:30 and I gave him a paci--he went back to sleep til 6:30, gave him a paci, and he went back to sleep until 645. But I started feeling really bad that I didn't just nurse him at 4:30. I don't really know why I didn't--I was kind of in that half asleep daze and I guess I figured I would try it, and if he were hungry he wouldn't fall asleep? I don't know, but I felt so guilty this morning--as if I had been starving him! So I think I will stick to one night nursing session and just use the paci for any others. I'm being silly though, right?
grapefruit / 4712 posts
@Beebug: I would highly recommend the wubbanub soothie. Nolan had a rough time keeping pacifiers in his mouth because of his lip tie. Also the wubbanub soothies are just so cute. We have two for Nolan and want to get more for him.
We have been putting Nolan down awake but drowsy for about 2 weeks now and he is doing great! He doesn't wake up at night to feed either. Although I should point out that his bed time is around 10:30 and he gets back up around 7:30 or 8. I am so freaked out by 4 month sleep regression though. I love that he is sleeping through the night.

@hilsy85: Rough week, rough night, I am so fed up....! DH has tomorrow "off" as we have my uncles funeral, and then Monday off too, high school exam time, he teaches phys ed, so no exams.....will be nice he can give me a break so I can refresh a bit. He got up after my post (above) last night for the first time since C was like 3 weeks! He called me this morning too, to make sure I was ok.
@MrsRcCar: Will look for that soother!
She usually spits it unintentionally, and yes I totally find that annoying, but last night it was literally like the moment I walked away I could hear her spit it out. I have no idea what DH ended up doing to get her down, I totally walked away. I really, really need this crappy sleep phase to pass, even for one night!
We are leaving her tonight with non-family for the first time! I'm not nervous, just didn't think it would be this soon, but with all family at the visitation where we'll be going, our neighbours are happy to come over to help us out.
-15 today....I think I need outside time!
I shredded this am, level two again, I can hardly get through it, but there's something addicting about that challenge, and my brain totally needs it.

@Beebug: I hope C did well with your neighbors. I haven't had anyone look after Nolan that is outside of the family. We live out in the sticks a bit so not alot of neighbors to speak of. I really hope that you find the soother for C, they have been a god send with Nolan. I want to buy more, however where I live is pretty small and there is only one place that sells them here.
I am pretty excited for this weekend. DH, DS , and I are headed to an Ice and Snow Festival. It will be so much fun! It is going to be cold but we have all the proper gear to stay warm. I wll post pictures when we get back of course.

LOL she did awfully. We had her bathed 6:30-7, nursed/burped 7-7:30 as per usual. Neighbours came over, and we laid her down, she FREAKED. Freaked like she was freaking last night, so she came with us, neighbours stayed and watched the hockey game we had on a channel they don't get and hung with our dog.
I ended up balling after letting my cousin sob in my arms, held it together while she was with me and chatting and hugging, but as soon as she turned away I lost it sobbing, I have never felt someone hurt like that C slept through everything once we got going in the car of course, and had so many people peaking at her, she was out cold. We tried. Funeral tomorrow at 1pm, and she will be coming then.

Hi everybody! I totally have not been around this week because I have been doing housework every free minute. I am happy to announce that all of the clothing sized up to 3 months is out of the nursery dresser and ready to go into storage. We are officially in the next size. Mostly six month. Wow!
Joseph had his 3 month checkup yesterday and everything went great! Unlike the screaming fit that occurred with his vaccinations at the two month appt, there was no crying with his polio vaccine! He's 13.4 pounds and 24 inches. He is 50th percentile for height and weight but 80th for head circumference. I'm thinking big head, big brain, lol. Any other big headed babies out there?
I totally love the BFP anniversary. I was hoping for a Valentine's Day BFP last year but it came like three days later.
No rolling over here either, although he will scoot himself with his feet. So funny that they don't realize they CAN roll over!
@Beebug: So sorry for your loss. It is odd how we can sense things sometimes and that you were upset when you didn't even know about your uncle yet. Good luck tomorrow. It can be so hard when you are being strong for others. You're in my thoughts!

@Tidybee: it's perfectly ok to refrigerate and and then freeze. I go back to work feb 4th for half days. It's going to be weird pumping at work.
@Mrs.B: I haven't planned anything yet. I'm trying decide if I want to do it at our house or at a venue. Go you for starting it already!
@Beebug: so sorry for your loss. sorry you're having a rough time with C's sleep.
@Running Elley: glad E's sleep is getting better!
@hilsy85: ah don't feel bad about the paci. If A wakes up, we'll usually try to put him back to sleep, and if he's hungry he either won't sleep or only sleep for a short period of time. But if you want to nurse him when he first wakes, there's nothing wrong with that. And I'm jealous he takes a paci. A used to but will have nothing to do with it now.
@JoeysMama: glad your LOs appt went well.
Our BFP anniversary is feb 11. I was supposed to wait til the 14th, but just couldn't and POAS at 10 DPO.
Good for you girls putting your LOs down drowsy. I haven't tried it yet. I usually nurse him or rock him to sleep. I'm sure I'll pay for it later, but oh we'll.
A is finally starting to discover his hands. I find him staring at them all the time. And he loves to be in a sitting position. He doesn't like to play on his back for very long anymore. Hope you all have a great weekend!
