@hilsy85: They didn't clip it because they felt it would likely resolve itself. I am not completely sold, we do have an appointment still with ENT at the other Children's Hospital two hours away that clipped his tongue. DH and I are going to talk tomorrow about taking him out there. I am concerned about not getting it done because he could tear it if he face plants. I would rather just have it clipped to minimize risk. The dentist we say today said he will continue to moniter his case as he gets older. They were extremely nice about everything, I was a little unhappy about because I drove over an hour to be told that since he gaining weight well that they weren't concerned with clipping it. ( The only reason he is gaining is because he is bottle feed expressed milk 98% of the time). I want to nurse a lot more because it would be easier but I can't do the cracked nipples and thrush. As far as knitting goes I bought a "knook" kit. It is knitting with crochet hooks. Hopefully it will work out well. However I am already running into a little problem because my one wrist doesn't work 100% right. I am determined though.

@MrsRcCar: my pedi actually said the exact same thing--that many kids end up ripping their lip ties when they fall on their face (she also said that this was no big deal--basically akin to biting their lip or something). However, considering that it's causing you pain, I really think that they should have given you more info on correcting it--the ENT that we saw said nursing related reasons would be the main reason to do anything about the lip tie, which it sounds like is relevant for you. I hope it gets resolved for you guys!

@hilsy85: I am hoping to find a resolution that DH and I can live with. What is important to us is that DS is healthy and happy. I can understand the dentist being cauious about clipping it but I do feel a little like I was ignored about the nursing pain because I don't nurse him a lot. The ENT at the other Children's Hospital is much more open to nursing issues, she takes it into more consideration. I plan on calling her office tomorrow to speak directly to her about my concerns before I drive two hours to take him out there.

@MrsRcCar: yes healthy and happy LO is most important

L slept 11.5 hours last night, woo hoo! But of course I was up a half hour before him because I was so engorged...I tried using the pump I got through my insurance and I think there is something wrong with the suction; I could barely get out anything even though I was super full. I might go pick up a cheap manual pump and see if that works, since I really only need to pump once in a while.

Also feel like I might be coming down with a cold...better rest up today! Do NOT want to get sick!

I am loving all the laughing videos on Fb--baby giggles are the cutest

    Hi ladies,

Well....we bought that house! Went in today, I was beyond nervous going in, but now am SO excited!!! We will get it August 29th! Hole will be dug for the foundation May 1st! We are still struggling with when to list our house, but will figure that out eventually.

C is doing well, we went to a baby playgroup today and while it was mostly older babies, it was a big gymnasium with lots of space and a friend with a baby 4w older than C came too so we hung out, older babies walked and crawled over to see us sometimes and the babes watched, we read books, played with musical toys, then at the end everyone sat in a circle with their babies, did some baby sign, and then sang songs, and C LOVED it, so that was really cool. It's a free weekly program, and we will definitely go back week after week, I am glad my friend suggested it! It turns out I worked with the instructor years ago when I was a camp counsellor, and so she invited me to a baby massage class she teaches (though waiting list for that is til March!) and then a Stroller Fit class! It's all free, and really under utilized well funded programming -I remember how low attendance was for it when I worked with them, though with older age groups!

Not much else going on, C's sleeping has finally gotten better again, but she is only eating 4x a day, then once through the night.

Here is a pic of our "lot", too, and the house for anyone who didn't see it in the other thread I started when I was freaking about money.

Oh my gosh, way behind here! I've been so busy the last few weeks, haven't had a chance to get on here!

@Beebug Congrats on the house! Beautiful! When will it be ready? So exciting! Sorry to hear about your uncle.

    @RunningElley Hope Elliot is better!!

I'm on my 2nd week as a stay-at-home mom and I love it! Still job hunting for a part-time job and nothing so far, so it's frustrating. Financially, I still need to work at least part-time in order to stay at home with Jay. Hopefully, something works out soon!

I had the norvovirus earlier this week. Luckily, my husband only got a mild version and Jay was spared, although he did have a low fever a few times. But thank gosh he didn't get super sick like me!

We had his 4 month appt. today. I forget who mentioned the big head, but Jay has one, too! He's 40% height, 54% weight and 84% head circum.! Everything was great until the vaccines. He screamed bloody murder and wouldn't stop for 10 minutes after. Broke my heart. Luckily, he ate and fell asleep and has been sleeping ever since (last 2 hours). He's consistently sleeping about 10 hours every night now which is amazing, but he's been fighting his daytime naps lately. He has super dry skin now, so the pedi today said to use aquaphor. Anybody tried that? He said it works great, but is messy.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

@Beebug: ahh!!! SO FREAKIN EXCITING! Congrats!

@hilsy85: hopefully you're not getting sick

@MrsRcCar: I'm sorry you're getting mixed answers about the tongue issue! LO apparently has a tongue and lip tie as well, I didn't find this out until he was 8w because I had no idea what I was looking for (um, maybe that's why nursing failed!?). Anyways- ped caught it and said its not a big deal and he didn't rec clipping it:/ I didn't fight it because by then nursing had become very natural to us, despite the 6w of hell we went through.

@Mrs.B: omgosh so cute! Are those their birthstones or are those just your favorite colors? Is it TERRIBLE that I don't know my own son's birthstone?
What is October anyway? What is their sign? I'm bad:(

@Beebug: congrats! so exciting!@TurtleDoves: that's crazy that the doc didn't recommend clipping your Lo's tongue/lip tie! You had major pain from nursing in the beginning right?

OH MY GOD I have no idea what is going on with Leo the last two-three days. he refuses to nap longer than 20/30 min and in general is just way fussier than he ever has been before--probably in part because he is over tired. . Is anyone else going through this?? I have no idea what to do to get him to sleep during the day! Luckily his night time sleep has been ok (knock wood!).

@TurtleDoves: Yes it is both DS and DD's birth stones. October has 2 birthstones opal and tourmaline. Tourmaline is pink so I chose that for A.

@Beebug: Congrats on the house! That is so awesome! August will be here before you know it!

@hilsy85: We are totally having napping issues too! He is just not napping well but it isn't affecting night time sleep for us either. I try to rock him a bit, before he gets tired, but it isn't working. The whole afternoon is very long and then he is so done by bedtime. He also only wants to nap while lying on me, which is a whole other issue. My mom is going to watch him when I go back to work so I promised her I will get his naps back on track by Feb, lol. I hope someone has advice for us!

@Beebug: so exciting about the new house! C really is such a doll, her hair is amazing.

@Jenn23: sorry to hear you got the norovirus! glad you are on the mend and your family didn't catch it.

@hilsy85: you know my struggles with naps, so i totally feel for you! i hope they go back to normal soon. maybe growth spurt?

@Mrs.B: pretty ring! i wanted to get some jewelry with birthstones too. i'm thinking a big sparkly ring as well

i have L's 3-month check up today. and i think L is going thru the 3 month growth spurt now. she nursed for 2.5 hours yesterday and woke up at 1am to nurse for 20 minutes. she's been waking in the middle of the night for the past few nights to nurse. agh. missing the 10-11 hour stretches. i hope it doesn't last for too long. anyone else's LO go thru their growth spurt and saw a noticeable difference in eating/sleeping habits?

@Beebug: Congrats on the house! So pretty

@Jenn23: Good luck with the job hunting! Glad you like staying home with Jay A has a big head too haha, last time she was 90th percentile for head, but I dont know how much I believe that, because it doesnt look abnormally large to me. She sleeps great at night too but then takes cat naps during the day. Glad youre feeling better and that Jay didnt catch it!

@hilsy85: my LO wont sleep longer that 30 minutes during the day either, unless she is being held, then maybe she will sleep for an hour. She sleeps about 10 hours a night so I know she is getting enough sleep...I think she is just into her surroundings right now and doesnt want to miss anything!

We put together the exersaucer for A last week and she LOVES it. Its her new favorite toy for sure. The bouncer I think is on its way out. She seems too bored in there and likes to sit up, rather lay down lately. I'm pretty sure she is teething too (ugh, thought I had a little more time for that). She has her hands in her mouth 24/7. It used to be just sucking her fists, but now she has figured out how to put one finger at a time in to chew on. That and the drool! Anyone else's LO starting to teeth?

I cant wait for her 4 month check up next month and possibly starting some cereal/veggies. She eats every 2 hours on the dot, if not before.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

@Jenn23: House will be ready August 29th! Builder has only missed two closing dates in all of the homes they've put in there and it was only because custom cabinetry the home owners ordered was late, so we expect to be in on time. Hope you're feeling better now, sick is of course never fun, glad Jay didn't get sick.

@TurtleDoves: I have no idea on sign or birthstone too (though I know it's pink as my biological father got me a pandora charm that was pink for C's birth month) but not sure what it's called, lol.

@hilsy85: C's night sleep is again ok, but napping is sucking again, trying to keep in mind everything comes and goes so quick....hopefully back to normal soon.

Is anyone else's LOs "out growing" things but not sizewise necessarily? C loved her swing and now hates it, like zero interest to go in it, which is totally fine, but just funny how it was ok, now it's like torture to her just sitting her in it, lol.

Thanks everyone for congrats on house.....now to start thinking about what we'll pick for hardwood, cabinets, all that fun stuff, eeep!

C has officially outgrown her small Fuzzibuns, onto Mediums, and then snap is already opened one size on the BGs. I think if I ever buy more, I will buy BGs, not FBs, I like the way the BGs clean more too. I am still having some build up issues, so may need to try something else to get rid of it.

Heading into the city today to visit some friends and go to hockey game, we will be out past C's bedtime, so wish us luck on that one, lol.

@JessLC: Usually I feel like I don't notice any difference during typical growth spurt times, but around 13 wks, I do feel like he was eating way more and sleeping more.
@BlessedMama: I think we may also need to get an exersaucer, L LOVES to kick and stand.
@Beebug: have fun today! And yes, L has also outgrown his swing somewhat. He used to be able to hang out in it and nap for at least an hour, now after 10 min he's done.

@Beebug: Congrats on the house! That is so exciting! DH and I hope to be in our own house come June. The rendering of your future home is just beautiful! N still loves his swing which he only tolerated up until recently.

@TurtleDoves: We had his tongue clipped when he was two weeks old. They basically said that the lip tie wouldn't be causing the issue so they didn't see a point in clipping it. I have an appointment with the ENT that clipped his tongue, but I am on the fence about driving out there because it is two hours away to be told she won't do anything either.

@BlessedMama: N has his hands in his mouth all the time! My mother informed me that I was like that until I cut my first tooth at 8mo. I am hoping that N doesn't start teething anytime soon.

N was apparently up almost every hour. DH let me sleep because I have been fighting an ear infection. When I got up this morning N was awake again and very smile-y. DH was like ok, I am going to sleep now..... N is napping currently.

N's 4 month appointment is wednesday morning. Hopefully it goes well. We are thinking about starting N on cereal just in his night bottle. When we eat he squeals and grabs at our food. We are leaning to BLW. N loves his bouncer! He is just a little too small for it still. The bouncer has a lot of bells and whistles. He gets so mad right now that he can't sit up by himself and he will fuss unless someone is holding up to stand.

    @Beebug: Congrats on the house!

@Jenn23: Hope you and your fam are feeling better! I'm not looking forward to the 4 month shots.

@hilsy85: This is my son always. He will not nap longer than 25-30 minutes. It sucks! How is his sleep now?

@BlessedMama: I need to get A an exersaucer. I think he would enjoy it. He also tries to sit up in his bouncy chair.

@Mrs.B: Wow! So exciting. I hope teething is too rough.

A's sleep hasn't been as great this week. Last night was much better, but the nights before he was waking up around 2 AM which he never does. One night he woke up at 11:30 PM! Ugh, I've been so spoiled with his sleep that I was grumpy. Hopefully, we're moving back to better sleep again.

A was sitting up in a tripod position last night. He could only hold it for a few seconds. And he loves to be up in a standing position. Hope you ladies have a great weekend! I go back to work Monday.

@mrskc: it's kind of up and down. The last two days, he's had two really good naps (1.5-2hours) and the other naps are short, like 40 minutes. He's exhausted by the end of the day. His night time sleep is still good--waking up once at night. So I have no idea! That's awesome that he's trying to sit already! He's so advanced with his motor skills

@hilsy85: J has been off for the past week - it seems to be getting back to normal now, not sure what it is?! who knows! just when you think you have these little people figured out something changes, right?

@mrskc: good luck tomorrow! it will be good! i'm thinking positive. Once a routine gets established i think it will be good. i'm not going to drop him off though, DH is, i just don't think I can handle it.

@Mrs.B: wow 2 front teeth?! that's great! hope LO is handling it OK!

@MrsRcCar: keep us posted about the 4 month appointment - adding cereal is exciting! i feel like my lo isn't interested in the food we are eating yet. we were thinking about doing blw also, but not 100%, maybe a mix of homemade purees & blw, but who knows, will be great to see how everyone on this board starts introducing foods!

@Beebug: congrats on the house! exciting!

@BlessedMama: have you seen some teeth coming in? I don't think my little man is teething, but he also has his hands in his mouth ALL of the time now. We also have more drool, especially in the evenings.

back to work tomorrow! EEEK. i had a full on sob-fest friday about it - but I think i needed it, just hoping i don't cry too much tomorrow, i already have 4 meetings scheduled, so at least I'll be busy.

J is doing great - sleeping better, we had a weird week where he was up at night a few times, but went back to sleep quickly & then was getting up earlier than normal, but now he's back (at least the last few nights) to sleeping 9ish hours, eating, then heading back to sleep for a few more hours.

We also got him a jumper/exersaucer thing! looks so fun. he's still a little too small for it, but i think in a couple weeks it will be his new fave. he loves to kick like a mad man, and i think he's getting a little bored on the playmat, but he still loves to grab all the toys & hang on to them. He also rolled over the other night, but he hasn't done it again since.

Jay loves his jumperoo. He still can't go up and down in it, but moves side to side and plays with all the toys and loves the music. I put him in it about three times a day for 10 minutes at a time and he loves it!

Hey Ya'll! Ugh, I feel so behind on this thread. I was trying to keep up and then I just got behind. I just tried to read through and catch up. Lots of exciting stuff going on!

D will be 4 months on Thursday, we go next week for her dr's appointment. Boo for more shots, but I can't wait to see how much she's grown.

DH & I got the stomach flu 2 weeks ago. D started running a fever last Sunday so we made our first sick visit to the dr. It wasn't flu, just a virus. She'll be finishing her meds tomorrow. But she's been relatively happy throughout - yay.

Has anyone started trying food yet? We're waiting until closer to 6 months I think, but I know a lot of folks start cereals after 4 months.

@hellobeeboston: We have a bouncer for N, he is a little too short for it yet. However he loves it. With just a little propping he is extremely happy to play with it. He wants to be in it all the time!

@Jenn23: Glad that Jay finally rolled over! It is so exciting when they start rolling. N likes to roll but only on his terms. I joke that he is part cat because he does things only if he wants to.

@CarrieLouWho: Sorry you and DH have been sick! Although happy to hear that LO didn't get the flu. N will be 4 months tomorrow. He is going in for shots on wednesday. I hate shots for me and it is hard to see him cry getting them but I know it is best. We are thinking about starting cereal at night in his bottle just to give him some extra calories. He won't take as many bottles a day, as I would like but he is growing like crazy so he is probably fine.

I have been fighting an ear infection for over a month now. I have an appointment with the ENT. I hope that N doesn't have the ear problems that I have.

Even though I have been fighting an ear infection I have managed to keep my weight going down. I am the lowest weight I have been in ages! I weigh about what I weighed in high school maybe a little under. I have about 30-35 pounds left to lose though. I want to be an extremely healthy fit mommy for my little guy. Everyone says how great I look, how it doesn't even look like I had a baby. I know they mean well but it makes me think did I look bad before?(Crazy I know) .

Is anyone getting 6 month pictures done of their LO? Do you guys have any ideas? I have pinned a few but would love to see other ideas too.

@hellobeeboston: How was work today? I cried. My 45 min commute didn't help. I held back tears all the way there and once I got to work I couldn't hold it back anymore. I was only there from 8-12, but it went so slow.

    @Jenn23: Yay for rolling!

@MrsRcCar: Hope your ear infection gets better soon. And great job on the weight loss. We haven't planned any 6 months photos. He's getting photos done next Monday which will be more like 4 month photos.

Went back to work today. It was so hard! I cried and missed my baby boy. He didn't do to well either. The nanny said he had a few crying fits and he just wouldn't sleep. I came home and took him to bed and nursed him. He passed out and has been sleeping 2 hours now.

Pumping is not fun! It's going to take some time to figure out the schedule. A ate 10 oz while I was gone, but I'm wondering if he needed more. I was able to pump 6 oz before leaving in the morning and 5 oz at 10 AM. I think I'll squeeze another pump session before bed too. I'm a little stressed about pumping and worried that I won't be able to pump enough. I need to relax because I know stress hurts supply.

@MrsRcCar: yup we have 6 month photos with our newborn photographer. We'll probably do them in a nearby park and it will be more of a lifestyle shoot, with Dh and I.
@mrskc: sorry today was rough for you and A! It sounds like it will definitely be a transition, but i'm sure you'll both get the hang of your new routines. I have no advice about pumping as I don't do it regularly, but it sounds like so far you're making more than enough for him!

I've been MIA on here for awhile, and just got all caught up, wow we are busy ladies!

We had Emme's 4 month check up yesterday and I left very discouraged and upset. She had not gained ANY weight since her last appointment and was only in the 5% for weight. She was 60% for height and 25% for head. She's a little lean thing.

The doctor is concerned about her lack of weight gain (which we know is from the fact that she spits up every thing) so we have started a pretty intense eating schedule. She will be getting rice cereal mixed in every bottle and will be eating both rice and veggies twice a day by spoon, the doctor is hoping it being thicker will help her keep it down. if she's doesn't have a good weight gain in 2 weeks than she wants to do an upper GI to make sure that there isn't something developmentally wrong.

This is when I lost it, I have always had a motherly instinct that something is wrong with her stomach, I hope I'm wrong. I don't want to have to put my baby through that.

Good news is last night she LOVED the sweet potatoes, but isn't too impressed with the cereal. She isn't loving the fact that she has to work harder to drink her bottle, but it's good for her. I plan on adding a little spices to the cereal to hopefully make it taste better, we need to fatten this little lady up!

@hilsy85: @mrskc: so, my first day back went really well actually! I don't think I told you guys - but Friday I went over to our neighbors house to go through his schedule, deliver some clothes & diapers and set up some of the toys and just being there I started tearing up.... J was laying on the floor & her kids were playing with him & he kept looking over at me - ugh, it broke my heart. I went home Friday and SOBBED for like 3 hours. I just couldn't stop crying all day - my poor husband was so worried... But honestly, it was good to get it out then, and not my first day.

Yesterday I was super busy in the morning getting my snacks for work, pumping supplies, bottles ready for J, diaper bag, etc - and I had my husband bring him because I just couldn't do it - and got on the road. Luckily, there was a pretty funny Howard Stern show (don't judge, I know it's gross but i think his show is great) so that kept me totally distracted on my 45 minute drive. It was fun being back at work and seeing everyone - the day flew... Pumping is tough, but I got 3 full bottles for him, so that's good... I'm worried about making enough for him though! I only have so much frozen and I'm giving her 3 bottles plus 1 frozen to start. Hopefully he'll just need the 3, so stressful! The end of the day I left work early, drove super fast to get home & practically ran across the street to get him! I cried a little when I picked him up I was so happy to see him...

@mrskc: Sorry to hear it wasn't the best day. J didn't do great with naps either, but I expect it will take a week or two to get adjusted -- He also seemed so happy & relaxed to nurse at night. Today was a little easier than yesterday, I hope it was for you too! Let me know how pumping goes - I need to figure out some kind of schedule also, and I am also stressing, but trying not to about it! I want to make it as long as I can!

I think meeting new Mom's is like dating again...."should I ask for her number" "does she want to hang out with me outside of this group" LOL.

C is waking up habitually at 2am just looking for the paci, any way to break this (I realize the answer probably won't be something that will involve not using the paci!) she goes back to sleep right away until 4am nursing (that she even stretched until 5am this am). CIO would wake her beyond what it's worth, so I'm really not sure there would be a solution aside from more time and hoping it passes?

Her first nurse when we woke this morning she spit it all up, and if not more. I felt awful, she nursed like crap, then spit it all up, wtf.....feels like such a waste, I think I might go through another tough stretch here, AF is back again too, co incidence? lol frig me.
