@ladybee: I think I'm going to have to get on some meds for post partum anxiety. I'm prone to anxiety bad and I am doing just ok right now. During the day is good- early AM stinks because of sleep deprivation and I just don't do well at night when I'm alone. Hope you're feeling more normal/"even" soon!

@ladybee: re: Tummy Time- I didn't even realize I should be doing it that much! The ped mentioned we could do some "tummy time" while she's laying on us- but that was about it. I guess I will work on it! But know you're not alone with that!!!

@TFrances: I'm totally in the same boat, I take the night shift so DH will take the AM, and it seems like a constant game of "who is more tired." We had a good stretch last night (12-3:45, then up again at 6:30, then back to sleep til nearly 9.) I commented how I was really tired later in the AM and he was like "well you got good sleep." I kind of went off- I don't care if I got six or seven hours, when they're NON CONSECUTIVE with a baby right next to you, they're not QUALITY sleep. It's so hard to have to get up and function to feed or change a diaper after 2-3 hours of sleep!!!!

I'm a little stressed about my supply I was hoping to see more of an increase by now- I'm only pumping 3-5 oz a day. I pump every 3 hours for 20-25 minutes or so. Seeing you guys talk about how much you pump (and knowing how much a LO needs!) I'm upset that it doesn't seem to be increasing. I know I won't be able to exclusively pump 100% but I would love to provide her more!!!!

Yet again tonight DH comes in, says a quick hello to the LO (nothing to me), sits down, and start typing away at the computer. I really don't even know what to say without sounding completely like a bitch.

@TFrances: I think it'd be ok to try and say how frustrated you are.

I got woken up 30 minutes early and Dh frustrated saying he can't get him to calm down. Really? We just had this conversation about turning the lights, muting the damn tv, turning on his bedtime music. Why are all the lights on? Football on super loud? And my baby overstimulated? Ugh.

Why is he only sleeping 1.5 hours between feedings? And he's crushing formula which gives me hope he will sleep longer. Ha, nope! Whhhhy!!

Is it bad that if someone told me that a little whiskey on his gums would make him sleep 5 hours and not harm him I would try it? My mom did that for me when teething. I'm just kidding, I would never, maybe I would. Who knows. This shit is hard. It's like a torture camp. Taking away my sleep is the best way to break me.

Last/this night is such a rollercoaster. Started off really good, we had a bath with no screaming, and then she went to sleep within an hour. I was pretty much feling like a rock star at that point. Then about an hour and a half later, as I was settling in to sleep, my husband got out of bed to kill a giant bug on the wall. In and of itself, not a bad thing, but he didn't pay a luck of attention to how much noise he was making, where he was walking (super creaky floor), etc. So Lucy woke up. I nursed her for over a hour and she just wasn't settling down. Luckily my mom is here, so she took a turn holding her and comforting her. Lucy finally dozed off while nursing on the couch, and I did too. Woke up, got her settled back in bed, and then forgot to set the timer for when to wake her up to feed again. She went almost 5 hours, which is awesome on the one hand, but it means she hasn't wanted to go back to sleep since. I'm desperately trying to keep my eyes open as we sit here nursing some more.

@ladybee: don't feel bad, I'd totally do it. Tonight I have found myself thinking "surely there has to be something like baby Benadryl I can give her to make her sleep..."

The good news: Hyla slept in her crib most of the night!

The bad news: her longest stretch of sleep was 2.5 hours and I was only asleep for an hour of it. The rest were 1.5 hours. I changed her diaper after the first wake up, and it was full of poop so I thought it was safe. It wasn't. She pooped all over her changing pad, two cloth diaper liners, and peed in the space of 15 minutes. But..she went straight back to sleep after that. I'm currently waiting out the farts to make sure that she's done pooping.

@evansjamie: we are transitioning also to his crib tonight. I'm dreading it but I'm getting no sleep next to him and our pediatrician wants him sleeping flat and crying before I run in and get him. I think I'm over responding to the fussiness now.

Ok total pull for votes but if any of you like the BabyLegs page on facebook, Effie is a finalist in their Halloween costume contest, and we'd appreciate your votes https://www.facebook.com/babylegs

@ladybee: It was glorious not having her in bed with us last night. I missed her, but she's right across the hall and I have the monitor just in case.

Currently, she is fighting naps. I got about 15 minutes sin the shower, and 30 after I wore her for a walk. It's going to be a long day.

    @kjpugs: done!

Low: I was changing mm's diaper this morning after a big loud poop. Obviously she wasn't done and shot poop out five inches across the changing table. It almost landed on my shirt.

High: got a new nursing bra and a hands-free bustier for when I pump! So happy to be in a real bra and not just tanks.

@Jennimac: Oir girls must have been talking to each other about how fun it was to poop on the changing table! And I can't wait to get sized for a nursing bra. Tank tops are getting old. I also need to acquire some nursing-friendly shirts.

@evansjamie: that's my next thing to get. Nursing friendly tops. I'm not quite sure where to get them. I'm glad I am not the only one with a poop happy little lady. Seriously!! It's worse than a grown man!

@Jennimac: Between her grown-man burps and epic poops, Hyla is 4 weeks going on gassy old man. She is definitely her father's daughter.

@Jennimac: He should own it. My husband is so proud of her gassiness. My sister is proud of her burps. I'm the only one who is saying, "Hold it in, kid!"

BF mamas, what feeding schedule are you keeping with your little ones? Right now I'm waking her every two hours during the day, and every four hours at night (if she goes that long without waking herself). She's 2.5 weeks old, and I'm wondering when I can just let her eat on her schedule.

  27. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@abbylyn: I feed whenever she asks (her screaming = her asking) and have since about two weeks old.

  28. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@abbylyn: I used to do that and sometimes we do if she is still sleeping. But, LO is 3 weeks old and is going through a growth spurt so she is eating more often now. It's the same as @evansjamie: her screaming--me feeding

  29. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@evansjamie: @Jennimac: how long does this 2-3 week growth spurt last? LO is bottle fed but eating constantly!

  30. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@ladybee: About a week? She was cluster feeding for three days and then it spaced out a bit. I'm scared of the six week growth spurt.

@abbylyn: Our schedule is the same as @evansjamie: He "asks" and I oblige, but he was a big baby and I don't think we're going to have any weight-gain problems. I don't wake him at night because he's doing 5-hour stretches. Before anyone gets too jealous, the downside of that is that he may eat like every hour in the morning and the evening, which is particularly rough with a toddler who wants attention too.

  32. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@ladybee: she is still going through it, but it's basically been this whole week. @evansjamie: that's good to know. I'm getting worn out!

Arthur's definitely hit that growth spurt. He's eating 3 ounces every 2 1/2 - 3 hours. At least he slept better last night. No overstimulation. I purposely put him in his crib when DH came home. Good thing, as DH proceeded to make so much noise putting away the groceries. LO slept through it. I'm still super tired, but I think Arthur and I. Are coming to a night time agreement. If I get him before his screaming, he's more likely to go back to sleep quickly. Talking to him quietly also seems to help. We're still working on it.

Love hearing about the poo stories. We had our two blowouts last week. His clothes were sacrificed but I somehow avoided it all. Those always leave me stunned before I jump into action. Plus I get the added fun of the fountain that is little boy pee.

@TFrances: holy cow the pee. My first LO rarely did that, but this one tries to nail me at least half the time I change him.

@mrs. Yoyo: I've escaped so far but the DH and the bed spread wasn't so lucky. I remember getting hit multiple times in the first few weeks with the twins. I've learned...

@TFrances: yup, I've learned to have a washcloth at the ready!

@TFrances: we are eating at the same pace except at night (1-2 ounces every 1.5-2 hours) but today he actually ate 3.5 ounces! I was shocked. My MIL came today and kept waking him up to finish his 3 ounces. I don't but it seemed to work and he's slept 2.5-3 hours after each bottle. I think I will give it a try tonight to see if we get at least one longer stretch. We are starting a bedtime routine tonight too and he'll be sleeping in the nursery. I'm praying for a solid 3 hours of sleep.

Arthur's been fighting sleep for almost two hours now. Just fussing constantly... Argh! Kid! You feel so much better after some sleep.

  40. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@TFrances: not that it's the same but our dog does that all the time and is a huge brat in the process. He's been doing it today and all I keep thinking is that I'd kill for sleep. Go take a damn nap! I am staying up and not napping to help DH with bedtime. Better be worth it.
