@ladybee: sure the Ped will say that but then does he have to stay up all night with the baby?? I am in the firm camp if doing whatever works to keep everyone same! He'll get into a regular crib/bed sooner or later! Mine is still in the RnP at ten weeks and I'm not worried

Insurance nonsense update: We've made some progress! We finally got confirmation that we are on the insurance and can set up our accounts. I jumped onto the crappy website this morning and quickly noted some peds offices nearby. I called the practice 0.3 miles from our house (hello!) and multiple of their docs are accepting new patients. I asked a few questions, picked one, and the lady on the phone got us enrolled. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get in before Tuesday, but amazingly enough the doc I picked had multiple openings on Monday. We set up the appointment for Arthur's 2 month check up and vaccinations. So glad we could get him in. Now I just need to get the insurance cards for proof of coverage... Come on Cigna!

Will write more later, but she went down at 9:30 and slept until 2:30!!!!!!!! There was a little blip around 11:30 and I just gave her her PACi a few times and she was out again. Ahhhhhhhh!! Continuous sleep, how I've missed you!!!!

2 monthly shots today. We just gave her Tylenol. DD was doing alright at first but now a few hours after the shots and she is in pain and warm and uncomfortable. I can't stand to see my baby upset. Big mama tears. I know these vaccines are a good thing but ouch it hurts to see my lovebug like this!

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@ladybee: Oh no, why no more rock n play? DD has slept in her RnP since coming home from the hospital. She sleeps 6-9 hours a night in it. She won't do naps during the day so we cherish the night sleep.

I'm so tired. I worked hard to stay on a good routine today, and even left something early to stick to bedtime. LO refused to go down after her 9pm feeding. I decided to go ahead and try to feed her again because by the time I get her down, she'll be hungry again! It feels like I will never truly sleep again.

Hi Ladies! It's been awhile... Infants are no joke! We struggled for awhile but I feel like we are finally getting the hang of it, sort of. We weren't getting any sleep so DH and I gave in and we started co-sleeping. Honestly best decision we made because now we are all getting sleep including the dog. Little girl just hates to be put down or be alone so it's been quite exhausting. I'm just now starting to come up for air and back to feeling like myself. I've got a lot to catch up on.

@Redmini1: Good to hear from you! Glad cosleeping is working out. I really, really didn't want to... Yet we did it again last night. I am so insanely tired & she sleeps so well snuggled up with me. I get more sleep, but definitely not better sleep. I sleep so lightly because I am nervous about hurting her accidentally.

Ugh, well I've been back to work 2 days and LO has been in daycare 4. He is beyond congested and has a temp of 100.2 and I woke up with a horrible sore throat. I want to be a stay at home mom

  11. Redmini1

@Daniellemybelle: I agree, I've become such a light sleeper as well. Prior to co-sleeping, her and I were on the couch and every night I'd put her in the R&P. She would wake up every hour no matter how tired she was so she'd end up sleeping on me which also ended in sleepless nights. I never wanted to co-sleep but I do enjoy the snuggles.

@ladybee: ugh that sucks, I hope you both feel better soon. I'm definitely dreading going back to work and kind of wish I could stay home as well.

@MapleMoose: we had our shots yesterday too, and it went the same... a few hours later and she was a mess She's doing a little better today though! How is LO today?

Shots are so awful! I definitely cried seeing them give them to E yesterday and seeing her cry so so so much. However it was nice to know she's so healthy and happy otherwise! She's 10 lb 14 oz (50th %) and 23 1/2 in long (95-98th %)! She's tall and adorable! Infant tylenol has helped some and she's seeming a little better today.

  14. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@kjpugs: Glad to hear your LO is doing better! We only gave M one dose of Tylenol and today she's a little fussier than normal but doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. Thanks for asking!

  15. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@MapleMoose: our last dose of tylenol was around 4am. Seems the same here- just fussier today! Those shots are horrible!!!

  16. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@kjpugs: I keep telling myself it's for a good reason... but I can still hear that shriek of pain from my baby. Haunting.

  17. daniellemybelle

Having a terrible day. I don't think it's normal for babies to cry as much as mine does. Our routine is already shot today which only makes it worse. Ugh.

  18. avivoca

@daniellemybelle: It does get better. Hyla was super fussy at that age (wow, it sounds like she's so old, but she's only a couple of weeks older than S). Not napping well, not really sleeping well, and every nap was a fight. I'm sorry. It does get better though.

  19. avivoca

@kjpugs: @MapleMoose: Shots are terrible. I know they are good for our kids, but why do they have to be so awful? I hope your girls are feeling better today.

@ladybee: I'm sorry you and M are sick! I am not looking forward to that part of daycare. I wish I could stay home too. I could, but man, it would be tight. My hubs has agreed to reevaluate in a few months if things aren't working out though, so there is that.

@Redmini1: Glad to see you back! Hyla hates to be alone too, and she's been fighting bedtime also. Mama is tired.

    @ladybee: I'm so sorry!!!

@MapleMoose: and @kjpugs: I tried reasoning wih mine and told her if she thought the shots were bad, it would be worse if she got sick.

@daniellemybelle: how old is she again?

  21. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@daniellemybelle: isn't she around 7-8 weeks? LO was horrible then. It's amazing what a week does. She has been napping well--2-3 hours on the couch--and has slept 5 hours in row, two nights in a row. I remember when LO was that age, we just had shots, and we traveled---it was horrible. Hang in there. It does get better.

  22. daniellemybelle

    cantaloupe / 6669 posts

@Jennimac: @evansjamie: Thanks friends. She's 7.5 weeks. I feel like we are really peaking in terms of the fussiness, so you are giving me hope that it will be over soon.

  23. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@daniellemybelle: oh Yess!!! That was when it was starting. It does get better. LO has been a dream the last few days. She was 8 weeks when I wrote all those threads about her sleep, nursing at night! She is so much better right now.

  24. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Jennimac: @daniellemybelle: Yes, once we hit nine weeks it was like a switch flipped! She's much more pleasant now that she is sleeping. And she refused a pacifier until last Sunday. I don't know what changed, but her Wubbanub is her BFF and helps her get to sleep.

  25. MrsTiz

@evansjamie: I'm glad to see that 9 weeks is a turnaround week.. Jack is 8 weeks and is a total grump if he's up. He's actually been sleeping most of the day the past few days, which means that he's waking up at around 1:30 now and then up for the day at 6 (which is OK because I get up then anyway) but he was sleeping through the night up until about Wednesday!

  26. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@MrsTiz: Oh, STTN is my dream. Currently Hyla goes to bed around 10:30-11:00 and wakes up between 3:00-4:00, nurses, and goes back to sleep until 6:00. She doesn't get up for the day until about 8:00 and is ready for a nap at 9:30. I hope the waking at six continues, because that's when I get up for work.

I have to admit, reading everyone's posts I sometimes feel guilty that E is relatively easy. Know that I'm thinking of all of you (and that if not earlier, I am SURE I will pay for this during the teenage years!) Also I wish I could send you all my nanny! When B watches E I do hear some fussing/crying sometimes, but I never hear a PEEP (except happy ones!) when she's with the nanny! I swear she is magic!!!!!!

  28. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@daniellemybelle: @Jennimac: @evansjamie: @MrsTiz: Yep, M hit 8 weeks and was fussy and wouldn't sleep. Then 9 weeks came along and hello happy baby! My baby who wouldn't ever take a nap unless she was being held from Day 1 is suddenly putting herself to sleep in the swing. It's a miracle. We are still working on the crib naps. We put her down drowsy and she falls asleep... for 5-10 minutes. But at least I know she can do it. I like 9 weeks way better than 8 weeks. Hang in there mamas, it does get better.

@kjpugs: Just enjoy! And LOL at paying for it in the teenage years

  30. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@MapleMoose: exactly. That shriek. I thought to myself "omg this is a baby experiencing actual PAIN not just hunger/tiredness, etc." And then it made me think how I couldn't believe anyone would ever hurt a baby maliciously, and then I got even sadder, etc etc... down the rabbit hole of mom tears.

  31. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Oh my goodness, I am tearing up remembering that shriek. I admit, while she was sobbing, I was sobbing, apologizing over and over because I couldn't do anything to take away the pain. Our poor Mama hearts. The shots really are worse on us.

I also told her she should be glad the needle isn't as bad as it was when Nani and Grandpa got their Polio vaccines. That would really be something to cry over.

  32. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: oh man, were the old polio ones crazy bad? I cannot imagine. I am so glad DH was there with me... they have a special little bond so I let him hold and kiss her while she got her shots and just stood back and cried I can't fathom doing that alone. Any of you moms who did are my hero.

  33. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Well, the scars are pretty big at least. I'd hate to see the needle. As for the shots, the nurse held her down while she did it. Hyla wouldn't calm down in my arms, but Tony bounced her and she stopped shrieking and sobbed. I just shook and cried a bit. My crocodile tears came after the nap when she was in so much pain. She would yell every time she moved her legs or I touched them.

  34. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: I should modify- the nurse held her down, B just "held" her meaning he had his arm stroking her and was kissing her forehead. And Effie did the same thing- randomly woke up crying clearly in pain, just out of nowhere. She was only content being ON one of us, poor thing. Makes me tear up now thinking about it

  35. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Okay, we're gonna have to talk about something else before we start crying. How about how my cat just nibbled on our Christmas tree? And how this time next year we are going to have to decorate with ornaments that don't break and tether our trees to the wall.

  36. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: LOL yes next year will look a LOT different for us all, amiright!?!?!?

In hilarious news, B SWEARS that E said Hello. I think he was hallucinating. She is VERY talkative with him (dang daddy's girl) and we tend to think she's super smart and advanced, but clearly she is not THAT advanced!! He swears it, though!!

  37. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Awwww! All I get is the occasional "Goo." We're working on finding our thumb on a regular basis. She spots out her Wub and tries to stick her thumb in her mouth and gets frustrated.

Also, I can tell now when Hyla is whining. It's so adorable when she is small.

Hey ladies! Wow. I have a lot to catch up on. Sorry to hear everyone seems to be having a rough time with the vaccines. A seems to have done great in comparison. It probably helped that our ped is progressive and only have the two really essential vaccines.

@ladybee: poor LO and poor you! So sorry to hear he is sick. I hear you on being a SAHM, but for diff reasons. Work has been crazy for me this week and I feel like I've been neglecting my son and my hubs. It sucks!

@kjpugs: so glad your nanny rocks! We had someone today who may be the one. She sang and talked to A the entire time. My heart was filled with warmth instead of anxiety!!!

@evansjamie: so jealous of H's long stretches. a is really only doing 3.5. Boooo! Any tricks?

@MapleMoose: we are working on the same thing! A has been able to put himself to sleep in his bouncy seat and crib but still prefers to I either be next to or on me. At least we know its possible for him to sleep somewhere else if even for only 30 min. I am nervous though for transitioning him to his crib.

  39. Sadieloo

@kjpugs: @evansjamie: are you babes more talkative? A is cooing up a storm. Sadly the only discernible 'word' is when he cries and it sounds like 'maaaaa'. So unfair!

@Sadieloo: I have a video of my LO babbling with her toys today. It's adorable! She "talks" back to you and my heart melts. She is pretty vocal.
