@abbylyn: oh my gosh, I am so sorry! I hate nights like that, all I can say is that she will fall asleep out of exhaustion. I have no idea when it will be, but it will happen. ***hugs***

@evansjamie: it's just extra frustrating because her sleep had been SO much better recently, and I was looking forward to snuggling and eating ice cream with dh tonight after I got her down.

But, I have to remind myself, she did 2 4+ hour stretches last night, maybe I'll get the same (or better!) tonight!

@TFrances: Happy 2 Month Birthday, Arthur!

@abbylyn: sorry about today- I'm with you: Georgi did a similar thing today: catnaps and waking up crying ,wanting to be held. I wonder what it is. Hang in there!

  6. abbylyn

    apricot / 298 posts

After all that, she slept for her longest stretch yet! A little over 5 hours. She might have slept longer if she hadn't busted an arm out of the swaddle and started hitting herself in the face.

@abbylyn: Yay! I hate when they break out. LO is a houdini.

Happy 2 months to our big kids! Can you believe it!? Do you guys do the date or the weeks? LO is 8 weeks tomorrow but her birthday is the 22nd.

Any of you putting your LO's down drowsy but awake? I am trying to lean into better sleep habits in hopes we don't have to sleep train. She is such a sleep fighter that we usually rock for 15-30 minutes - and then she often wakes up on transfer. Lately I have been leaving her in her bed when that happens & letting her fuss for 5 minutes. It's a crap shoot whether she will fall asleep or the crying will escalate & I have to rock her more. I'd like to get to where we only rock for 5 minutes or so and I can put her down awake by the time she is 3 months.

@MrsMed: soooo cute! I love how they look all filled out I was just thinking the other day how different it is once them plump up!

  9. kjpugs

@abbylyn: my night last night was similar! Usually we have NO issue getting her to bed but last night she flipped out. She ate and dozed a little, but as soon as she was swaddled it was like we were trying to kill her. She was FIGHTING IT so hard in that swaddle it was crazy. So I thought maybe it's time to try a sleep sack. So I got out a fleece one and tried that. 10 minutes in I was feeling smug then- flip out baby. She was showing hunger cues so I figured maybe she didn't eat enough. I gave her more, and then she went down again. And in 5 minutes freak out. Eventually I just swaddled her and held her for about an hour until she fell asleep. SUCH a long bedtime it was crazy and ridiculously unlike her. She's been a brat today too so I dunno what's up! Glad to hear she slept so long for you though! Maybe she tired herself out!

@TFrances: I love that cute face!!!!!!!!!!!! He looks a lot like my twin cousins. So adorable. Can't believe they're 2 months already!

@daniellemybelle: She usually falls asleep after her bedtime bottle so I put her down like that. Sometimes she opens her eyes and is "awake" from the transfer but with the exception of last night, she goes down without a peep, maybe a little fussing but right to sleep within 10-15 minutes.

  12. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@daniellemybelle: I'm trying to do that. She wakes up on transfer, but so far popping her Wub in her mouth a few times does the trick. As far of middle of the night feelings, she goes right back to sleep, even after I changed a poopsplosion this morning.

Sidenote: it is so gross to hear someone pooping over the baby monitor!

  13. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@evansjamie: @kjpugs: @daniellemybelle: LO is doing all right with the transfers. Sometimes she will wake up, but she will go back to sleep really quickly. Last night she slept from 10:30-5:30! It was glorious. We got a woombie and she loves it. She can move her arms around, but it doesn't wake her up. She fusses and then we can put that on her and she calms down and falls asleep in it.

@daniellemybelle: I saw your other thread about naps. LO does a 3 hr nap in the morning, but afternoon is hit or miss. Sometimes she is down for an hour, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes two hours. Am I letting her sleep too much?

  14. daniellemybelle

    cantaloupe / 6669 posts

@Jennimac: I don't think she can sleep too much as long as she's happy & eating enough! Though my other thread is making me think long naps at this age are not typical? I will say LO takes a 2-2.5 "nap" in the morning but I count it as nighttime sleep because it's so early. Naps for me follow a short period of activity - her morning sleep is right after eating.

  15. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@daniellemybelle: yeah, her longest 'nap' is right after she wakes up and eats for the day. The rest of them are 1 hour or less. Unless I hold her. Ok, that makes me feel better. I was worried she wasn't doing something right!

Had our 2 month appointment today. Baby boy is crazy large: 13lbs 6 oz (75th percentile) and 24 3/4" (99th percentile!). He was a champ getting his vaccinations. Screamed when they happened, but calmed down as soon I picked him up. He was more fussy throughout today, but no major issues. So proud of him!

Wish us luck, we're leaving on a jet plane for Indiana tomorrow morning (super early!). I've been practicing getting Arthur in and out of the baby carrier while holding him. Not bad, although I can't quite get the shoulder clasp closed. Hopefully there's a vacant bench right after security. We're all packed and hopefully ready for the journey.

@TFrances: Have a good trip! I've never been that far north in IN for any amount of time. We frequent Southern Indiana, which is practically Kentucky for all intents and purposes.

You know what's fun? Projectile spit-up of an entire meals worth of milk at 4 am, resulting in outfit changes for both you and the baby. While I was at it, I changed her diaper, and her sleeper is a bit too small (sob) but I was so tired. Then I listened to her kick and talk to herself for 30 minutes or so before finally falling asleep. Then my husband's alarm went off at 5:00, and it was super loud. Thankfully, he didn't hit the snooze (I guess I sounded like I meant business when I told him to turn it OFF).

@TFrances: have fun! I hope it goes well!

@evansjamie: those are never fun! LO didn't go to sleep until 1 am and then was up at 5;45 am. I'm. So. Tired. We are going I see Santa today and we oing to go first thing this morning. Well, due to lo's early wake-up now everything is off I don't know when we are going to get down there. Sigh. And DH is still asleep. You know, because he is tired.

  19. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Jennimac: Yeah, husbands aren't really allowed to say they are tired. When they get up multiple times a night with the baby for weeks on end, then they can say they are tired.

Sorry I've disappeared. Matt is super sick. His cold has turned into an infection so now he's on antibiotics that we got at his two month appointment yesterday. Well he has only kept down 5 ounces since 11pm last night (10:30 here now), is pooping liquid, and had a fever of 101.6. I've been back to work for 5 days and I've missed 2. I'm very concerned about dehydration and I'm waiting for my pediatricians office to call back which I feel like is taking forever which is pissing me off. Ugh.

  21. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@evansjamie: word. Then he is all "when are the Christmas cards going out? When are you doing this? What's for dinner?" And I'm like, "do it yourself!"

@ladybee: oh, honey!!!!! I'm soooooo sorry!!! Poor you and poor Matt!!!! I hope you get better soon and I'm willing your ped's office to call you right now!!!!

  22. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@ladybee: Noooooo! I hate that you guys are sick, and I hope the Peds office calls back soon.

@Jennimac: Yeah, I keep telling him that I just don't have the energy to think for him anymore. I've sent a few cards out to my Hellobee friends and my immediate family. But I. Just. Cannot. Do. It. All! We bought so many cards, and I'll probably save them for next year. Or I'll write them all now and then send them next November.

@ladybee: Oh no! I hope you guys start feeling better soon! Did you leave a message on the machine at the pedi? When I do that, and then don't get a call back soon enough I call the appointment desk and then have them transfer me to a nurse

Jack was 2 months old last week! Ahh!! He's 11 pounds, 3 oz & 23" tall so 18th percentile and 54th for height, just a little guy! Dr is sending us to an ENT because he's a really loud rough breather and she thinks his larynx is floppy, we'll know more once we see the ENT. Flat head over here too, I ordered a Boppy head lounger thing and I'm going to try and keep him off his back, but dang..his swing, bed, carseat, bouncy chair, etc all puts him and his head flat..soo how do I fix it!?

  24. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@MrsTiz: ok so I'm so confused now as to how they do the %'s. Effie weighed less than Jack at her 2 month (10 lb 14 oz) but was 50th %, and she was 23 1/2 inches tall, and 95-98th %! So close to Jack's but the %'s don't add up at ALL!? Is it different for boys vs girls or something?

  25. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@kjpugs: hmm. I'm going to go with boy vs girl? But is there a difference in infants? So strange!!

  26. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@MrsTiz: Is Jack adjusted because he was a little early? Hyla is about a pound and a half more but right on for height. @kjpugs: I think it is differentiated for gender.

Thank you for all the good luck on our trip. Arthur handled it like a dream. He slept for most of the two flights, but woke up happy and alert during our layover. And then he woke up again when we landed at our final destination. No issues, no fussing, no crying. I didn't even have to remove him from the baby carrier for security. They left him stay in and just swabbed my hands. Easy peasy! Once we landed here in Indiana (Winter Wonderland anyone?) and got our baggage, we headed to my grandma and grandpa's for a quick stop in. They live about 5 minutes from my mom. Arthur was awake, talking, and smiling at them. So adorable! Once we got to my mom's, we introduced the dogs to the baby. One couldn't care less. The other is very interested and wants to be right near the baby. Going to have to watch that one (he's also blind, so issues there). Here's hoping the rest of our trip goes just as smoothly...

@TFrances: Glad your trip went well!

@ladybee: I hate that poor Matt is sick

I think I have asked this before but what is your LO's bedtime? We usually do our last feeding at 9-10, which means she often doesn't get to sleep until after 11. I feel like she should be going to sleep earlier but then she wouldn't be getting enough feedings, right?

  29. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@TFrances: YAYYY! So glad it went well! Wish I still live in Indy so I could say hi!

@daniellemybelle: our bedtime is the same- she ends up going down between 10 and midnight (if she's really fighting it.) I think any babies that go down earlier are guaranteeing a midnight-ish wakeup for feeding. Which honestly if she went down at say 8, ate at midnight or 1, then again at 5, not horrible IMO? But nope I can't get her down til late.

@TFrances: I'm glad your trip went well!

@daniellemybelle: This week, Hyla moved her bedtime up to 9:30. Then she was sleeping 6-7 hour stretches, getting up to feed between 3:30-4:30. That changed last night, she still went down at 9:30, but got up at 12:45, 2:30, :5:45, and 7:00. My husband was gone last night, so maybe she missed him? Idk.

  31. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

I also had a dream that Hyla rolled off the bed and I couldn't get to a car to take her to the hospital. She was wearing the sleeper she has on now. It was terrifying.

  32. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@daniellemybelle: LO was going to sleep by 9:30 and then sleeping until 2 or 3 ish. Once this week, it was 5 ish! The last two nights her sleep has sucked and we've been up 1, 4, and more. Sometimes I shake my head at babies.

  33. TFrances

Arthur slept from 2:00 - 7:30 this morning. My mom knocked on our door at 7:40. "Is everything okay?" (in a super worried voice). "Yeah mom, he's just eating." "Really, I was so scared because he didn't wake up at all last night." Actually he did wake up at 2:00, but doesn't really scream. I think she was expecting lots of screeching and prolonged crying. Thankfully I don't really have that baby. I must say that 2-7:30 was really nice for me. Plus, I could then take a shower and get my coffee while mom and the stepdad were still home. They watched Arthur while I took my time to prep for the day. Very nice!

Hi ladies! I came here with a completely awesome question...and I can't remember it. Oh well. Anyway, we visited our daycare today, and I feel so much better about going back to work. The woman remembered us and it still had that honey feeling I remembered. I think it will be a good fit. I'm also excited that they do a wide variety of cloth diapering (not just AIO like I thought), so I don't feel bad about wanting to try new kinds. We're still plugging away at it, but most of this week we have been in disposables. I'm okay with being a part-time cloth diaperer. I hope all is well!

@evansjamie: ooh, which cloth diapers have you tried? We have freetimes and my DH loves them but I just recently got some flips which I like better bc they are easier to clean

  36. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@jetsa: I have flip inserts with Thirsties covers, prefolds, and BumGenius Freetimes. I want to try Thirsties pockets and gdiapers, maybe Rumparoos also. I don't like how bulky the BumGenius are and I love that you can just wipe out the Thirsties covers and reuse. Plus I love the flip inserts. So swanky!

Things have been ok over here. We had a sad day yesterday- had to have our sweet old man pug Harley put to sleep. He had been struggling with multiple health issues but declined quickly. I spent all day yesterday working, watching Effie (since B had a car issue and had to go to the dealership- ended up taking HOURS), and cleaning up after Harley because he had lost all bladder function. Just peeing blood everywhere It was one of the saddest moments of my life to have to let him go but I am glad we were with him. I had today off work, so we had a pick me up by taking Effie to visit Santa. I'll post pictures of both here in a second from my phone. Glad to have B with me for both of these things.

@kjpugs: I have told you elsewhere, but I am so sorry for your loss. You are such a good doggy mama though - Harley was so lucky to have you!

I have Santa pics to share as well but right now we are consumed with poor LO's tummy issues. Her gas is terrible I am at a loss for what to do because we BF & FF - how do I figure out what the issue is? We have to do something though - we are both miserable.
