@ladybee: Yes, I am religious with them! I think they help slightly but not much. We've tried gripe water too.

@kjpugs: I'm so sorry about your pup. It's amazing how much impact those sweet little guys can have on your life. Your daughter looks just precious, and her outfit is such a nice tribute. We wound up with the onesie!

@daniellemybelle: do you think it might be the formula?
I wish I could share my Santa picture, but the photographer asked us not to save the proofs, even though they are watermarked. I'll have mine after Christmas. You can see it on FB if we are friends (we were allowed it share from her FB page). We are at my IL's house, and I bought a car adapter for my pump so I could pump on the drive and feed her (it's about 4.5 hours). Guess what? The cigarette lighter in my car doesn't work! Talk about pissed. We stopped at a gas station for batteries, and they just SUCK. after 40 minutes of pumping (20 on each side), I got enough to feed her.
Also, I bought target dipes this week to try them out. So. Many. Blowouts. Back to pampers!
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@evansjamie: Possibly - we are going to try switching, but if her issue is dairy, we won't be able to tell unless I cut out dairy AND we do hypoallergenic formula.
I like Target diapers! Sorry they don't work for you. Pampers are my favorite still though because they are just so soft. Huggies & 7th generation are at the bottom of the list.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: Maybe it's a bad batch...it could also be that she poops every other day or so and they are MASSIVE. I never tried Huggies; we got a sample diaper and wipes and they both just stunk. I might try Earths Best diapers, but since we only are using disposables at night/traveling right now, I may just stick with the swaddlers.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@evansjamie: Earth's Best run big - I tried them right when LO moved up to size 1 & they always leaked just because they didn't fit. Going to try them again soon, now that she's bigger.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: thanks for the tip! Maybe it's the same with the up&up dipes. I'm also worried because my supply has taken a bit of a dip over the last week. I weighed Hyla at Mom's group and she had only gained a few ounces since her 2 month appointment last week (as in, only 3 ounces).
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@evansjamie: I think weight gain levels out a bit after a certain point, doesn't it? Maybe pay attention to the number of wet diapers she has?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: It does, but I've noticed that I haven't been producing as much as I used to when pumping. The only time I get a decent amount is when I pump one breast while she feeds off the other. Diaper-wise, she seems to be good.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@evansjamie: butting in on the supply that's normal though your supply should regulate between 6-12 weeks. You should be producing just enough instead of overproducing as you do in the beginning.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@jetsa: Thanks for weighing in. My husband keeps telling me to stop worrying. It's good to know it's probably just regulating. Maybe I should read those nursing books

Feeling like a million bucks today - LO slept EIGHT hours last night! Consecutive. I couldn't believe it! I went nine hours without nursing or pumping so my boobs were boulders & LO feasted. It was kind of fun in a bittersweet way to experience what it must be like to have a full supply.
Question for you all: What toys/activities are your LOs enjoying? Mine needs a lot of stimulation during her awake periods. I've found that helps her fight sleep less. We don't have a ton of toys and she gets tired of her activity mat. She likes to stare at the TV which is not what I want!
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@daniellemybelle: Consecutive sleep is glorious. DD likes looking in the mirror, chatting with me (I repeat the cooing noises she makes), the nom-nom game (I pretend to chomp her hands and feet), me singing to her, walking around the house and showing her different items, her crib mobile fascinates her, and things with patterns and bright colors are sparking her interest so I show her those.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: Go S! Wow, eight hours! Hyla did seven once, and yeah, it felt like I had rocks on my chest too. As far as toys, we have an assortment of rattles, a small activity mat, and a lot of books. She's not fond of our activity mat because the toys are too close to her face. She likes to look at her books, and she loves keys and necklaces. She also loves looking in the mirror, being tickled, talking, and walking around 'helping' me with my chores.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@MapleMoose: @evansjamie: Thanks for the ideas! It might be because S is younger than your babies, but I feel like a lot of that stuff doesn't excite her yet. She likes to look at bright, contrasting colors & moving objects, but she doesn't seem too intent on engaging with us yet. She does get in giggly, chatty moods which are so fun but I don't know that it has anything to do with us!
LO had a rough evening which I unfortunately think just comes with the "high needs" territory, as evening crying is one of the hallmarks of colic. She finally passed out so I am going to try rolling into bedtime even though she is skipping her last feeding, We'll see if she wakes up starving soon!

Up pumping at 3 am because my lazy boob is uber full. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the oatmeal reason cookie I had was magic. This is the first time in a long time I had to pump because I was afraid of getting mastitis if I waited since Hyla doesn't nurse long at night.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@daniellemybelle: too funny I LOVE 7th Generation diapers! And my boobs feel no different after 8 (or even 13) hours without pumping- savor that!
My pumping update... I'm ending it. With losing our pup, having my mom in town, etc, I needed to enjoy doing what I needed to/wanted to and not freaking out about timing. I already had cut one or two sessions. It's just become too much lately, especially with LO being more alert/awake more often now. I'm pretty much at 2x a day right now. Probably about 3 oz a day, haha. I'm just SO over it. Ready to stop. Not sure if I just keep up with 2x a day if it will taper to 0, or if I have to just actively stop and not pump again. I used to get up to 110oz after an overnight, now it's 40 to 70 if I'm SUPER lucky.

@evansjamie: pumping "when I can" instead of dictating activities around pumping has been AMAZING. I mean, not amazing for my supply, HAHA. But amazing for me. With Harles leaving us I just had to give myself the time and felt so much better that I continued with it. The next day for example, I would have been stressing while taking Effie to santa that I was overdue- I chose not to stress, not to look to see how long it had been, not to compare days, etc. And I was able to enjoy myself! Not sure if B realizes what's happening but he'll have to be ok with it if he doesn't want me to have a mental breakdown.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@kjpugs: You have done an amazing job! Be super proud.
In a FB group I'm in, they were talking about this. If you want to do it gradually, pump for shorter & shorter periods of time, and then drop one pump session at a time. You can also take a decongestant to help dry up. The silver lining of low supply is that the risk of mastitis is low so if you wanted to go cold turkey I think you'd probably be okay.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@daniellemybelle: if I can keep up with 2x a day, so LO gets at least 2 ounces a day until she's 3 months, that would be ideal. I can do 2x a day easily. So that's my goal, hopefully getting less each time. I'll try pumping shorter amounts too!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm so glad you've been able to have less stress! I'm sure B will be okay with whatever you decide. BTW, I'm loving the pics of E you are posting. Also, how are the other pugs doing? That video you posted was awesome.
I would have said more earlier, but Hyla pooped through her sleeper.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: thanks, I LOVE posting Effiegrams! There's another mom who uses the Effiegram hash tag (I'm private though so she didn't know) and I added her and commented that I had an effie too, and found her using effiegram, etc. A few weeks later she requested to follow me and I told B that I'm sure she IMMEDIATELY regretted that decision
The pugs are doing ok. They're SO good with E, but the past week they've been really "off" because of losing Harley. I think they're adjusting to the new normal, which is never easy. I liken it to the weirdness when you get back from a long vacation and your dog has to re-adjust.
And oh, the sleeper blowout. The worst of the blowouts! Give sweet Hyla a snuggle for me!

@kjpugs: Ahhh your family is too cute! I wish I could share mine but the photographer asked us not to save them. It's on my FB page since she allowed us to share them there. Also, my birth announcements FINALLY came in, so I'll send it your way if you want it.

@evansjamie: YES PLEASEEEEE! ps my mom was with me when I got the mail that had your christmas card, and we were both ooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over the lettering. SERIOUSLY, seriously impressed. I almost didn't want to open it!!!!!!!!!!

@daniellemybelle: we play with the same toys as others have listed. LO loves the mirror on her play mat. When we do tummy time, we use the boppy pillow.
@evansjamie: way to go with the pumping!!! I pumped right before I went to bed to avoid getting up last night. Sleeper poops are the worst! Two of lo's are soaking right now because of blowouts. Loved the sweet Christmas card!
@kjpugs: I'm so sorry about your sweet pug. Losing a family member is so hard. Those little guys just hold our hearts in a way you can't describe! You have done a great job with pumping! I have no advice on stopping, but you've done a wonderful job, momma!!! Santa pic is adorable! Loved your Christmas card!
Here is a close-up of lo's Santa visit.

We bought the cd of the pic! We are those parents now
Also, LO had been having trouble at night. Se would wake up to nurse and be up for two-three hours. Well, we didn't turn on the lamp last night and she nursed, burped, and fell back asleep in 40 minutes. It was glorious! Now if we can just get her to fall asleep, for the night, quicker that would be better!

@Jennimac: Love your Santa picture! MM is adorable!
We're at the in laws for Christmas. My MIL is smoking only in her bathroom with the window open and the fan on. My husband asked her to and I'm so glad she is doing this. It's amazing to not have to worry as much about it. There's more than enough drama happening with my SIL, so it's nice to have one less thing to worry about.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Jennimac: oh my gosh!!!! Sweetest Santa pic! I love her outfit and how alert she looks. I wish LO had been sat more forward like that. And Santa's face is hilarious! He looks like he's having fun too!!!!!!!

@Jennimac: I think keeping it dark is critical to going back to sleep quicker in the middle of the night. Good job MM! I try to keep it dark in Hyla's room when I am putting her to sleep and it seems to work.

@evansjamie: thanks! I'm glad the smoking situation is working out. We will do Christmas with the inlaws later and I'm already stressing about it. I don't know why I didn't think about the light thing. It was a very DUH moment for me!
@kjpugs: thanks! It was a very stressful day getting her there. Sleep the night before sucked. I was worried she would be crying, but we made it without tears. She kept trying to crunch forward. Santa was having to stretch her back out. He was laughing about it at the end.

We've been MIA since arriving here in Indiana. Things have been just so busy. Since arriving Arthur has been sleeping 5-6 hours during the night. Hallelujah! If only this continues when we get back to California. Here's hoping the rest of the holiday continues this nicely. Lots of time with family and friends. I want to get some good family pictures tomorrow, but I predict the big boys (10-year-olds) will be harder to wrangle than the baby. I should get some pics on here soon...
In the meantime, hope everyone else has a great holiday!

Lo slept from 9:30-4:58 this morning! We are headed to 5 pm mass by ourselves since daddy has to work still. Pray that she is good in the car. It's 30 minutes both ways.
