@Jennimac: What a great stretch of sleep! I hope the drive goes well and that MM does okay during Christmas Eve Mass.

We're on our way home from my in laws house now. Hyla got a stuffed dog that is honestly taller than I am (I'm 5'5"). We strapped it into the front seat since I'm in the back. We are getting a lot of funny looks.

How was everyone's Christmas? Ours was great. Amazing how fun it is with a baby that has no idea what's happening - I can only imagine how fun the years to come will be. Her favorite gift by far was the Kick & Play piano - I have never seen her content for that long!

In other news, my milk supply has been up with all the calories I have been eating, but LO has been fussier & fussier while nursing. I can't remember a nursing session where she has stayed latched & not fussed other than nighttime. I get so frustrated because I know she leaves milk behind which is terrible for my supply. I keep saying I won't obsess about nursing & let things end peacefully but I am having a really hard time following through

    @evansjamie: hahaha that's pretty funny!

@daniellemybelle: DD did so well this Christmas. It made the holidays fun! We were so worried because she was miserable on Thanksgiving but it's amazing how much babies can change in a few weeks. She was the star of the show and was talking and laughing with all her relatives. Maybe you have a future pianist over there?!

@daniellemybelle: Holy cow, my milk supply has been way up too, to the point that I HAVE to pump at night or if she skips a feeding napping. I think eating real, home cooked food is helping, along with mainlining the water. It's so much easier to take care of myself when there are other people cooking, cleaning, and holding the baby.

We had a good Christmas! Hyla did really well being passed around to all the relatives. Her cousins loved her. I felt bad when my MIL cried as we left..she had fun at my parents house as well and met her great-grandma DeLois. We are all glad to be home having a low key day. I go back to work a week from today and I don't wanna! I want to snuggle my baby all day.

Here's a picture from our family nap today. It melts my heart.

@evansjamie: you are killing it with these adorable and funny pics! Glad your supply is up although boo at having to pump in the night.

@daniellemybelle: I was just thinking about trying to find bitty the piano kick thing since she LOVES to kick! Glad Christmas was so great!

@MapleMoose: same, my mom couldn't believe how different E was!

We had an awesome Christmas, my mom stayed with us and let us sleep in! She got so many gifts too. Her godfather seriously surprised us by sending a PB Kids chair! (And Effie did some back arching when we sat her in it.) she also was so excited that she pooped her pants! We joked that it is what she got us for Christmas... A blow out. Ha!

@kjpugs: OMG the blowout pics are hilarious. They look so proud of themselves when they do it too, it's kind of hard to be mad at them. Hyla got tons of presents too, to the point that I'm not sure where I am going to put all of them. Especially Clarence. He's a beast. I wish I could get rid of him but it would break MIL's heart. He's too big for my house.

@daniellemybelle: Also, Hyla has been fussing at the breast more as well. I don't know if it is just their age and the fact that they are more awake/noticing things?

@evansjamie: Yeah, my mom thinks she is just getting distracted. Good to know I am not the only one. I am just so sensitive about this nursing thing. And I hate when she makes noise on the boob because I know she'll end up swallowing air which only worsens her gas!

@kjpugs: how funny!!! We had a blowout last night at dinner. She was sitting on my soster's lap and she felt it and we all heard it. I took her to the other room to change and then they heard me yelling out because it got all over my hands and me and I couldn't change her without some help because we both were dirty. We laughed about it for 30 minutes!

@Jennimac: We had two almost blow-outs this morning. Stinky!

Hyla has been talking a lot more the past two days, and this morning she reached for and grabbed her rattle on the activity gym! I've never seen her like a toy so much!

It's crazy how entertaining baby poop is! We laugh our heads off watching her grunt one out.

@evansjamie: Is it the Kick n Play? S is OBSESSED!

How many times a day are your LOs eating? Mine has gotten into a pretty good 3 hr schedule & since she has been STTN most of the time lately (knock on wood!) she only eats 6 times. I have been trying to space them closer together at night (6, 8, 10 instead of 6 & 9) but she ends up going to bed so late, and she sleeps better with an earlier bedtime. Everything I've read says they should still be eating 8 times a day.

  13. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@daniellemybelle: It's not a kick and play (I wish!). It has butterflies and unicorns and she LOVES it. Hyla eats between 6 and 8 times but does not STTN.

I never thought poop and boogers would be so entertaining. My how things change when you are a parent!

So I know some of you are already back to work, and I am lucky to get 16 weeks off, and also very blessed that my mom will watch LO. But I just have to say the idea of going back to work is killing me. I always wanted to be a SAHM and now that she is here, I can't imagine being away from her so much. She is just now getting really fun & now I have to leave her!? It sucks.

@daniellemybelle: um yeah...right there with you. It hurts my heart that I have to leave her on Thursday. I'm looking for a part-time job in my field so I can semi-SAH with her. It's not fair.

Hi ladies. My DD was born on October 4. Hope it's ok f I join you here :). These first three months have been fun but crazy!

@Zbug: I was just about to invite you over from my other thread! Welcome welcome! Tell us a little about your LO, your pregnancy & birth to get us caught up

@Zbug: Welcome welcome! I can't wait to hear more about you and DD!

Let's see. My pregnancy was fairly standard, I guess. First trimester equalled nausea and tiredness, felt pretty great second trimester and was a little uncomfortable but luckily not miserable by the end. DD was born three days before my due date. I started having contractions the day before, they got pretty intense that night, strangely calmed down the next morning but then picked back up and I had her that night. I had a natural birth in a hospital and had a second degree tear. The thing I was least prepared for was recovering! I tried to go on a walk a week later and made it maybe half a block.

She was 6 lb 11 oz and 18 inches at birth and now weighs about 13 lbs. I need to measure her bc I swear she grew a lot longer overnight! Night sleep has been improving a lot, but we struggle with naps. Walking works every time, but I feel like I should be getting her to nap at home soon!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

    @Zbug: welcome!

@daniellemybelle: and @evansjamie: I go back to work January 6. I'm a teacher so I have a pretty good work schedule, but I still have to go back. Part of me is excited and the other part is sad.

Right now I'm up holding little one because she started coughing in her sleep. Well, she woke up and was still coughing and promptly threw up all over me. Like, all over me. I had to get my parents up, take a bath. My dad checked her over (he is a dr) and we think she is okay, but I'm just scared.

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Zbug: congrats and welcome! Are you sharing her name? So glad you're joining us, and congrats on the natural birth! I had 2nd degree tears (interior and exterior, which I didn't know was possible) too, ZOMG, cannot imagine it without at least some pain meds. Recovery was shocking for me too. For weeks, any walking just meant intense pressure/pain down there. I was also not prepared for that!

@Jennimac: omg how terrifying! I HATE stuff like that. I nearly lost my mind the time Effie projectiled. Glad your dad is a doctor and could check her out.

YOU GUYS... Effie slept 10-6 and then again 6:30- 9:45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hubs is a HAPPY HAPPY MAN (since I'm working he is on duty!)

@kjpugs: I'm jealous. Hyla got up four times last night. I'm tired.

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@Zbug: Welcome! I had a 2nd degree tear too so I know exactly what you went through.

@Jennimac: @evansjamie: @daniellemybelle: I go back to work on Jan 6th also. I have a flexible schedule which is great but I keep having these nightmares that DD is hysterical when I'm gone and I ugly cry at work and then when I get back from work she freaks out when I pick her up because she forgot who I am.

  24. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: UGH! I am having Effie send Hyla some sleep vibes!!!!!!!!! So sorry she got you up so much

  25. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Jennimac: Hyla has been coughing and choking some too and it scares me to death. As soon as I sit her up, she's fine, but it is scary.

@MapleMoose: I'm basically in denial that I have to go back on Thursday. I wish I could push it back until Monday, but at least it will be a short week before I'm home with her again. My husband is off until the 6th, so she's only doing half-days at daycare this week. He's so worried about her. I am too, but I'm trying to put on a brave face, when truthfully I'm holding back tears thinking about it right now.

  26. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@evansjamie: That's what I'm doing too. I keep blinking away the tears. That's good that she can start with half days at daycare to ease into it. Well, actually I have a feeling it's us moms that need to ease into it rather than our LOs lol! *hugs* We'll get through this!

@kjpugs: my MIL once mentioned hellobee, so now I'm paranoid. It's ridiculous, I know. I'm sure I will get over it and share her name eventually.

  28. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Zbug: oh crap, I don't blame you then. If my MIL was on hellobee I would FREAK OUT!

  29. avivoca

@Zbug: @kjpugs: Thankfully my MIl barely knows how to use a computer and I haven't told my mom about it. HB is my safe space.

  30. daniellemybelle

    cantaloupe / 6669 posts

@evansjamie: @kjpugs: @Zbug: I'm pretty sure people I know are on HB. I don't sweat it too much (my real name is my username haha) but I try to not use LO's name or post pics anyway. I am kind of paranoid about Internet privacy in general.

  31. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: @Zbug: my hubs was face timing his mom and said something about me having a bunch of pics from Christmas on Instagram and I was behind the phone (where she couldn't see) motioning NO NO NO because OMG Instagram is my safe place. She comments on EVRYTHIG on Facebook- if any of her kids posts something- COMMENT. She also friended B's cousins (on her ex's side) and all his friends. She's on limited profile so she can't see things unless I tag her. I talked to my SIL because apparently MIl mentioned getting Instagram and SIL was like uh YEA none of us will help her hahahhaha. NO THANK YOU.

  32. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@daniellemybelle: I try to not use other people's LO's names, but I don't mind to use mine. Plus, my username is my name too. Eh.

  33. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Yah, Instagram is my safe space too. My mom has a Blackberry and my MIL does not even know how to use a regular cell phone, let alone an iPhone, so she'll never have Instagram. She does have an iPad, but only so she can FaceTime with Hyla.

  34. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

Also OMG- E has been drinking 3 oz every 2 hours ish. With increAsed hunger/fussiness at bedtime. She drank 3 oz at 8-8:15 ish then was fussing and chewing her hands. I just made a 2 oz bottle thinking she'd take maybe an ounce and she list finished all 2 oz! 5 oz within 45 minutes! Dayum! And now it looks like bedtime...

  36. kjpugs

We did this wonder week early too!

I know what you guys mean about instagram. I'm okay with being Facebook friends with basically every family member, but let's leave it at that.

  39. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Zbug: exactly. In college FB was more something I wouldn't want my mom to see but now with employers, etc, I keep it real PC and don't post super often. IG? I post #effiegrams by the dozen! But I'm private on there.

Happy New Year, mamas! It has been a great 2013 with all of you. Did any of you do anything fun? Who even made it to midnight? We didn't!
