@avivoca: I'm so glad that your coworker found a great place for you. That is so sweet!

@Jennimac: @kjpugs: She really is the sweetest I was so upset this morning when I asked where I was supposed to pump and was told the bathroom, so when my friend told me she'd been working on the closet for me, I almost cried.

@kjpugs: I started a thread about LO's schedule & felt that same weirdness. She is far from an easy baby but she has a pretty good routine & sleeps well at night.

@avivoca: It makes me so sad to think about you pumping for your sweet Hyla in the freaking bathroom! I'm so glad you have a better setup now.

So, I think I might be getting mastitis. Breastfeeding is so cruel - how is it that this is happening when I have low supply!? I don't feel sick yet so I am just going to try really hard to clear the clogs tonight after LO goes down.

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@daniellemybelle: oh my gosh! I hope you can get the clogs cleared. A lady at my mom's group felt it coming on and was able to clear them by feeding and then pumping. She said she could actually feel the clog release. I've also read that dangle feeding works well because it lets gravity help pull the clog out. Keep us posted, and I'll pray that you don't get sick.

@Ladybee: sending positive vibes your way!

I think we are going through a growth spurt over here. J has been waking up multiple times a night when before she was sleeping through. Last night, little girl woke up and just wanted to be up and party. It was hard to be mad bc she was smiling and cooing (still working on that first giggle) but that means we sleep in late which I'm not keen on. I'm not sure what to do with her when she does that.

@daniellemybelle: I think I also heard you can use a comb and "brush" your breast in the shower in a downwards motion to help with clogged ducts. Pumping after that might help too. I always thought the "pro" of low supply was not having to deal with stuff like this! So I hope it turns out to just come and go super quickly for you.

@Redmini1: We're heading into a growth spurt as well, right after a wonder week. H was up three times last night, and the last one was half an hour before my alarm went off. I accidentally went back to sleep and slept through it. Today is a day for Coke.

Dropped H off at daycare this morning and she lit right up when she saw her teachers! It makes me happy and makes me feel better when I go to work.

So E was supposed to start her wonder week today, and I feel like she's already mastered most/all of the skills? I *think* she follows things with her head/eyes in a fluid motion, she's definitely more active/squirming and turning, she can't roll over yet, but she does shake toys if we have her hold them occasionally, she blows saliva bubbles ALL THE TIME, she can make a laughing noise (kind of just inhaling fast like Sheldon cooper on big bang, haha, while grinning) and she makes LOTS of talking noises. Not sure about the light/sound from low to high. I wonder if she hit this one early. REALLY wanting her to roll over soon! She's coming so close.

  10. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: I thought that with H too! But then this past week she started exhibiting some of the behavior of going through it (more fussy, wanting to be held more, acting withdrawn) and just today she's back to her usual sunny self. I want her to roll over so bad too! She's started doing tummy time with her butt in the air so I think it will happen soon.

Also, ladies with the B-Agile...how do you like it? We need another stroller that will fit in our car (Nissan Versa) and I'm lusting over the Kiwi and Plum versions. H is getting heavy quickly in her carseat and I imagine by the spring I won't really want to lift her in it (girlfriend weighs 13.5 pounds now).

  11. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@avivoca: I LOVE our B-Agile. I love the B-Safe carseat but it's also SO HEAVY. Obviously I use the B-Agile with the carseat and not as a normal stroller yet, but it's SO light and easy to push. So far, very happy with it.

  12. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: That's one reason I didn't get the B-Safe. My Graco is one of the lightest seats on the market at 7 pounds, but with H in it it's close to 20 and I'm struggling to get her out the door.

  13. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@avivoca: Luckily we don't take her many places just in the seat, but because we have our carseat in the middle seat (safer if your car can fit it there) it's a pain because we have to lean WAY into the car. I love the convenience but sometimes just can't wait for her to be out of it!

Still on vacation in Indiana, but this has turned into the vacation from hell... We started out great! Seeing family and friends, sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night, being a super happy baby, and generally feeling the holiday spirit. And then around Dec, 27th, I started coughing. My mom, one of the twins, and I developed a nasty cough. Mom and the kid are coming out of the fog; I feel like I'm just falling deeper. I suspect that I am developing bronchitis. Awesome! Bronchitis while not at home with no medical insurance cards because the new company dragged their feet and didn't send the paperwork in until right before Christmas. I'm hoping like crazy the baby doesn't catch anything, but he's been super fussy the past two days. It may just be his start of wonder week (really really hoping it is). He's reverted to waking every 3-4 hours at night and eating but fussing the entire time. We leave on Tuesday to go back home to California. Here's hoping I don't feel like death, the baby is okay, and all our planes are on time (supposed to be below zero on Tuesday in Indiana and Chicago).

@kjpugs: I don't either, but just getting her into the house/into Mom's group in the seat is a PITA. Our seat is behind the passenger seat so that we've go enough room for someone to sit in the back (I sit back there on long drives so I can pump and feed without stopping). We're thinking about getting a second car that's bigger for long trips.

@TFrances: Oh man mama, I hope you start feeling better! Could you call the insurance company about going to the doctor since you don't have your cards yet? Bronchitis is not fun. Hopefully it doesn't go that way and you start feeling better soon. I bet you'll be glad to get back to Cali where it's warmer.

@TFrances: that's terrible!! Sending get well vibes.

@kjpugs: we did this wonder week early too. She had been fussier than normal, and then I also noticed that she seemed to have mastered the skills. I also didn't really notice this latest growth spurt, but she definitely grew! Maybe she's just giving me a break.

I don't think DD is even close to rolling over. We do tummy time. It never lasts long bc she is not a fan, but people often remark on how strong her neck/head so I haven't really worried. I guess she will do it eventually!

  17. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@TFrances: oh my gosh, I hope you get better. Definitely call your insurance and demand they immediately send a temporary card electronically because you need to go to the doctor asap. Is your old insurance card the same info? Maybe if your insurance didn't change you can use that? I know I lost my new card once and before they sent a replacement they asked me at the doc if it was the same company and they were able to just use my old card info. Definitely get to the doctor asap because you do not want it to become pneumonia!

@Zbug: sounds exactly like LO! So glad other babies don't like tummy time either. Our nanny remarks at how great her head control and neck strength are, and she is kciking LIKE A BOSS, just hates tummy time! DH is good about getting her to try, though.

@kjpugs and @Zbug: little one doesn't like being on her stomach for very long either so I also add in another position. I lay on my back and put my legs at a ninety degree angle with J tummy down laying on my legs. I move my legs up and down and she seems to love it for a little while... Bonus it's a good ab workout.

Last night was one of our worst nights in a long time. She was up until 4am. I feel like she switched up her days and night again... Any advice on how to switch her back? Last night she wanted to party and cluster feed all night. Also we transitioned from the miracle blanket to the Halo swaddle blanket....We need sleep...

  19. Zbug

    persimmon / 1355 posts

@Redmini1: thanks. I will try that! Hmm could J just be going through a wonder week or growth spurt? Has she been taking longer than usual naps during the day?

  20. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Redmini1: how was the transition? As you can see in my instagram, Effie has gone all incredible hulk on the miracle blanket lately even though it was previously the ONLY thing that kept her swaddled. I just found a halo swaddle sleep sack I'm going to try tonight (fleece so I had it packed away, but it just got really cold anyway.) I also ordered a second-hand merlin sleep suit to try too.

@kjpugs: did you ever try the double swaddle and swaddle me? What I like is that you don't have to be good at swaddling for it to work.

  22. Redmini1

    cherry / 163 posts

@Zbug: she usually has a morning nap which tends to be her longest of the day... I can usually squeeze a few hours out of her if I'm lucky. However, then she takes mini naps throughout the rest of the day which throws off night time. I'm thinking growth spurt due the increased feeding... I'm hoping she sorts herself out soon.

@kjpugs: J did the same thing with that swaddle, but the transition to the halo hasn't been the best. I can't iget it as tight as the miracle blanket so she's able to wedge her arms up by her face. Yesterday I let her sleep with her arms out for her nap and that was ok... I feel like I'm just blindly picking whatever will work that night but then having to find a new solution the next time.

  23. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Redmini1: that's what E did with every other type of swaddle. the miracle blanket was the only one that could hold down her arms. BLEGH.

@Jennimac: what was the double swaddle again? The swaddle me worked for a few days until she got strong enough to get her arms out or break out, which is why we transitioned to the miracle one. She's just too strong!

Here is the post. I don't do it as neatly as mrs pen does. Basically once it's under her arms, I just fold it up and around and it does not look neat at all. Then I put the swaddle me on top. She can't break out of it or move her arms up. I hate that E hated the woombie. LO loved it because she likes to sleep with her arms up on her chest but this way they don't wake her up. @kjpugs:

@Zbug: Nope! I have been looking for a replacement for awhile since the other one was my actual name. This handle is much better, it's the species name of the tree frog my daughter is named after, Hyla avivoca ( bird-voiced tree frog). Thank you Carolus Linnaeus and binomial nomenclature.

My husband will be so proud that I got all that right.

@daniellemybelle: Your reply is awesome! And just think, no more name changes from either of us. I also don't plan on changing my avatar since it's my fave picture of us.

@kjpugs: I'm so glad that you say the BSafe is heavy because I see all these women carrying their babies around in a car seat with one hand like its nothing and I'm like omg am I that weak!? This joker is soooo heavy. Love the stroller though!

@Zbug: you are just fine! I had someone asking some questions about here and then made it out like they knew who I was. I realize they can see some of my pics that I've posted, but this throws them off for a little bit. Plus, this pic I've used other places. I promise, no more changes from me!

Beyond frustrated right now. Effie's been up since 2. It's 2:51. Previously- ALWAYS- at night wakeups she would get changed, eat, and fall back asleep in my arms. Tonight she's ready to party. I gave her her standard 3 oz. She seemed so awake/alert and still hungry so I gave her another 1.5 oz. She's totally calm but just SO awake. Help? Is this because of us using another type of swaddle? She's been easily breaking out of the miracle swaddle (and too long for it) so she's in the halo swaddle sleep sack, but she doesn't seem to have an issue with it anymore than she dd the miracle swaddle. When I put her in her crib she fusses and throws her legs around, probably just the precursor to an all out meltdown. I just want to go back to bed :'(

  34. kjpugs

And she just went down. 3:15. Just randomly started to doze off in my lap. No idea how this all worked tonight. Hopefully she sleeps- usually she has 2 more wakeups in her but honestly I don't think I could handle that.

  35. Zbug

    persimmon / 1355 posts

@kjpugs: hang in there. That's happened to me a few times. It's terrible bc I'm also used to her eating and falling asleep in my arms. I tried rocking her once but it didn't work. I now just put her down when it happens. Once she fussed and I fed her more, but usually she just falls back asleep. She's right next to the bed though, which makes this strategy easy for me. Hope she gives you a nice long stretch this time!

  36. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Zbug: she's right next to my bed too. I've never been able to put her down unless she's at least 90% asleep. She is very loud with grunts and kicks when she's less than 90%!

  37. abbylyn

@kjpugs: could you try not changing her? I don't change Lucy at night unless she poops. The less I disturb her, the more likely she is to go right back to sleep.

@kjpugs: got it how did the rest of the night go?

  39. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@kjpugs: I stopped changing in the night, unless she poops and I don't turn on any lights. Mine was doing the same thing and it was so frustrating.

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: We don't change at night unless there's poop either. I keep it dark by using one of those touch lights that are blue and out a star pattern on the ceiling.
