@kjpugs: Congrats on a great ultrasound!

@Mrs. Monkey: no Nausea but i'm still having digestion issues

@KaitlynB: Just curious how are they able to do a gender screening so early? Ours will be at 20 week ultrasound

    I TOLD MY BOSS!

I feel so great. It was super awkward, haha, but I feel like a weight is lifted.

@Chillybear: On post (we are Army) they won't tell us until 20 weeks. Local ultrasound offices will tell you at 14+. At first I thought we would just wait, but my husband was determined to go ASAP. I called the office and asked if they generally can tell at 14 weeks or if we should wait. They said they can almost ALWAYS tell, as long as the baby doesn't have the umbilical cord between it's legs. I have to go in with a full bladder and it was suggested I drink orange juice beforehand. Supposedly that makes the baby wiggle and move around a lot. Here's to hoping we find out tomorrow!

    @KaitlynB: Good luck tomorrow!

@knockedup_nowwhat: Yay for telling your boss! I agree with you, huge weight off shoulders with that one.

@kjpugs: Yay for ultrasound pics. Also I hope this doesn't sound stalkerish but I read your blog. I followed it from another Weddingbee blog and loved the pics of your dogs at your wedding.

@knockedup_nowwhat: Congrats on telling the boss! Isn't it soooo funny how awkward it is? I felt like a teenager getting ready to tell her Mom and Dad or something both with my son and this time around. haha

hey, october mamas! it's been awhile since i've been online - work and life in general have been keeping me away! i had my NT Screening yesterday and all went well! Little Mochi looks like a human now and is swimming around like a maniac. All looks well and blood work came back with numbers one could hope for. I have another appointment on the 23rd this month with my OB and hopefully can schedule an anatomy scan for mid-May! Hopefully, it's looking a little more like spring in your neck of the woods...I'm eagerly anticipating spring and summer, so I can go on jogs and walks outdoors

@knockedup_nowwhat: Yay! We all know that feeling! Mine was especially bad...I was dreading it since its so soon after my 1st and we are a small organization.
Cheers to that being done and behind us!

@mrs. mochi: Spring has definitely showed up in my neck of the woods! The trees are budding out and we've got projected highs of 70* this weekend!

Tonight I'm going to a screening of "Birth Story: Ina May Gaskin and the Farm midwives!" I'm really excited about it, since I love her books (so far, I've read her guide to childbirth and am in the middle of "Birth Matters").

So I've been dealing with really bad sciatic nerve pain the past few days. Yesterday, it was coming up my back. I ended up throwing up for the first time this pregnancy twice yesterday. Once was in my classroom. With my students. If you want 21 12 year old girls to get quiet, throw up in the classroom bathroom. I took today off from work and my back seems to feel better. So, I got my fear of throwing up out of the way. :/. Plus, everyone keeps telling me this a great sign of a healthy baby. They are all like, "yay! This is awesome!".

@Jennimac: Ooh, I'm sorry you threw up in public! But they do say it's a sign of a healthy baby, so yay!

@evansjamie: I know. it's so funny. I thought by 11 weeks I wouldn't have to worry about it, but apparently I do. I was so embarrassed at work. They made me lay down afterwards for a while.

Hey Ladies. Recently I've started getting heart palpitations. It hasn't been accompanied with any other symptoms, which when I told my doctor he reassured me that it's normal. Has anyone else felt this way? It's kind of worrisome, because it doesn't feel normal.

@knockedup_nowwhat: Yay for telling your boss!! I went public at work this week and it was terribly awkward. A coworker even advised me in front of everyone on the method of which I should choose for giving birth. I fear the image everyone had in their head at that moment!

@Jennimac: So sorry you had the experience of throwing up in public! Hope you are feeling better today!

@ChefAimee: I was experiencing heart palpitations about a month ago. It happened off and on for over a week, without any other symptoms. I eat pretty healthy but decided to completely eliminate sodium from my diet, worried that it was my blood pressure. I'm not sure if that was the cause of it, but I haven't had any more heart palpitations since doing so.

@ChefAimee: I did with my first pregnancy- the first time it happened, I figured it was maybe a panic attack or something, and called my OB, who sent me to the ER to be sure. I checked out just fine and they sent me home. It happened a couple more times but I'd just lie down and try to relax and it would pass.

Does anyone have a heart rate doppler?! I'm 10w4d and I can't find the heartbeat. I'm trying really hard not to panic.

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@ladybee: I don't have one, but from what I've read, some people can't pick it up at 10 weeks. My midwife was able too, but she also knows exactly where to look. Please don't panic. I am praying that all is well.

@evansjamie: you're right. I keep watching all these videos but the women in them are rail thin. I'm not fat but I've got a little extra weight. This pregnancy is testing my patience.

  20. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@ladybee: I've got some extra weight too, which is one reason I didn't buy one. I took a lot of pregnancy tests before my first appointment to ease my mind.

@evansjamie: I think my overall issue is that I was expecting an u/s at my 10 week so now I'm nervous for my 12 week.

  22. KaitlynB

    olive / 63 posts

@ladybee: I do! I was able to find it before 12 weeks. At first it would be hit or miss if I could find the heartbeat. The best time to do it is on a full bladder, so I would do it first thing in the morning before I went to the bathroom. Do it laying down. Start right below your belly button and slowly move down and slightly side to side until you find it. My baby is WAY lower than I would have thought. Sometimes I'm even hitting my pubic bone. Now, at 15 weeks I find it every time, even standing up (:

Just be patient and don't freak out!!!

@Redmini1: thanks! And yay, not stalkerish at all I love it!

I'M BACK everyone after a 5 day trip... being at a wedding while preggo is not as fun as I thought it would be! I was EXHAUSTED, my dress was NOT comfortable, and I had to answer the same questions over. and over. and over. "October 14th, 3 months, yes we're finding out, June 7th, yes I've been sick" over and over. GAHHHHHHHH! I was hoarse my the end! But at least I don't get together with every member of my family TOO often so this is not an all-the-time thing

Our 14 week appointment went well! Baby's heartbeat was 150, and we scheduled our ultrasound and 19 week appointment! We'll know what we're having and get to see the baby on May 13!!!!

@evansjamie: Yay! On the one hand I feel like my pregnancy is flying by, but I also feel like it will be FOREVER til we get to see the baby again and find out if its a boy or girl!

So, ya'll, I am bumpin' today. Kind of embarrassing because not everyone at work knows I am pregnant. I didn't have any clean work clothes this morning except one dress, and it makes my belly look HUGE. I even wore Spanx AND tights, and I still can't suck it in. I already carry weight in my stomach, but as DH so kindly explained, "the baby is pushing out the fat." Thanks honey.

@knockedup_nowwhat: It does feel like it's flying and slow at the same time! It's so weird. My MIL told me today to stop worrying about things (I guess DH told her I was worrying). Also, even though I told work, there are some people who have no idea I'm pregnant, and I wore an outfit on Friday that totally made the belly look HUGE. So today I'm wearing a looser shirt.

AHHHHH! We found out the gender last Thursday (:

I was 14w2d. We are having a little girl! Now that I know though I am SO scared that at my 20 week appointment we will find out she turned into a boy.

It's funny because we both wanted a boy, but once I found out she was a girl, I REALLY REALLY want a girl.

@KaitlynB: So, not to scare you, but that happened to DH's cousin. It ended up being okay because they both wanted a boy. However, I don't know how common that is, so chances are that your girl will still be a girl. Congratulations!

Has anyone else experienced extreme loss of interest in things that used to be important to you now that you're preggo? I am finishing my final classes for my Masters Degree, and up until this point, I have been obsessed with my grades and course work. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, it just doesn't seem important anymore. I still want to do well, but keeping an "A" average doesn't seem necessary. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about this, because this isn't who I am normally. I'm wondering how bad it's going to get after I have the baby (luckily, I should only have a few weeks left of schoola and (in theory) can have everything already completed at that point) in regards to all things career related.

Other than that, congratulations to all the mammas and their appointments. I had my last appointment last week (13weeks) and the heartbeat was still very strong at 165bpm and everything looked very good. I'm going to find out in two weeks courtesy of my mom, but my doctor will follow-up the week later.

Anyone planning any fun gender reveal parties?

@ChefAimee: @ladybee: I totally understand about school. This is my last week of my masters program and I've been disinterested this whole term as well. I think part of it is the normal feeling you get at the end of a school program though because I remember feeling this way for my undergraduate as well. But you're right, school definitely doesn't seem like the most exciting thing to focus on right now!
