@ChefAimee: I feel ya... I was SO committed to running and everyone seemed to assume I still would... I think my body made the decision for me, and I know I want to start up again post-baby... but right now I have ZERO interest.

  2. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: me too. I went running the day after my BFP, and my thoughts were, "yeah, I'm done for now." I thought I would be one of those women who ran their entire pregnancy, but I lost all interest.

@evansjamie: yup, exactly. I could have pushed myself but it just was not worth it for me, I guess.

@kjpugs and @evansjamie: i am still intending on running, but perhaps i'm just being naive? i am exactly 14 weeks and i think i'll be happy if i can run through june before it gets scorching hot. i think that signing up for a few 5k/10k races will keep me motivated!

  5. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@mrs. mochi: I have a couple of 5k races that I want to do as well, but any running/exercising will have to be indoors with the air conditioning this summer. It gets so stinking hot and humid here in July and August. I just haven't been running lately (lots of long walks though!)

@Mrs.Monkey I'm studying Hospitality and Tourism Management with the hopes of receiving a full-time tenure track position with a university to teach Culinary Arts. I understand what you're saying completely. I did get very burnt out at the end of my undergrad as well. I think it's natural, but I do think the baby does have something to do with it too.

@kjpugs Ironically, I started running a lot about a month ago. I stopped almost completely when I first found out (mainly because I was exhausted and scared), but then I started up again slowly. I've asked my doctor, and he said racing still is fine. I've done a couple of 5ks, I'm doing a 12k in May, and I'm hoping (if I still feel good) to do a half marathon in July. I find that it is very motivating to keep me exercising and trying to eat healthy. However, it is A LOT harder for me now (which isn't saying much, because it was totally rough before) and I walk during very set intervals to keep me from overdoing it.

@evansjamie: it can get pretty hot here esp in july and august - hence the reason why i'll be happy if i can just make it until the end of june. as of now though, running outside is the least of my worries - we're getting the megatron of storms - rain, sleet and snow all in the next 24 hours!

Wooohoo, FIL and step-MIL got me $50 in old navy gift cards today for my birthday (they are in town... I'm working but DH is taking them to Disney before he works this evening, wah!) so I ordered two more maternity dresses! One more maxi, and one short one. Their typical "free shipping on $50+" didn't work for some reason ($52 total pre-tax after discounts) so I had to call, so annoying. But today its' 15% off (code WEDNESDAY) so can't beat that for the day I get the gift cards! Dresses will be HIGHLY necessary here in FL!!!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi, I realized i hadnt posted in like a week. There's not much going on on my end. I'm 14 weeks today and my tummy issues have all but disappeared. I will say i have been more exhausted in the last 2 weeks than in all of the first trimester combined.

Last week I had to deal with a ton of (minor) family drama, so glad thats put to rest. Otherwise smooth sailing. My husband completed his RCIA course and was confirmed on Sunday, so we had that to celebrate. This week will be my last week working part time at the bridal shop.

@Chillybear: Glad to see you back, and congrats to DH completing the RCIA course and being confirmed! I'm also glad that the family drama was put to rest.

@kjpugs: Thanks for letting us know about the coupon code! It's going to be 85 here today, and I need more dresses/skirts ASAP.

Hi guys, another question. I'm 11w2d and my symptoms are dwindling. Did this happen to you guys? Is it normal? I know you're supposed to feel better the closer you get to the second tri so I was curious what your experiences have been.

  12. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@ladybee: Yes, my symptoms definitely dwindled. I didn't start craving things again until this past week (I'm all about the root beer right now), and even stopped going to the bathroom as much.

  13. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@ladybee: I had a resurgence for a few days at 11w, then it got a ton better... but now they're kind of back? (13+2) not sure if it's just adjsuting after vacation though.

@ladybee: I'm still taking Zofran (15 wks) but I've stopped puking every day to only every other day and mostly in the morning or before bed. I have noticed though that during the day its gotten much better, still no energy surge like I was promised so I'm still waiting for that.

  15. ChefAimee

    coffee bean / 47 posts

@ladybee My symptoms weren't very present to begin with, but really dwindled around 10 weeks, and then came back with avengence at 12 weeks. Since then (14 weeks 3 days) I haven't had any early symptoms (with the exception of some fatigue), but have introduced horrible heartburn to the mix.

Hey, ladies! I haven't checked in a while. I"m doing well. Haven't thrown up again, but I definitely am sicker than I have been. I ended up getting a prenatal massage today due to my sciatic nerve pain. Oh. My. Goodness. It was heaven. It wasn't a relaxing massage, but more theraputic and it helped me feel so much better when I was done. I've already booked two more!

We are completely out at work and will wait until we have a gender announcement to come out on FB. I'm definitely showing a baby bump now. : ) It's totally different from my previous pregnancy, which does give me a bit of comfort.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

  17. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@Jennimac: i was thinking about a prenatal massage but i think i might wait a little longer as i'm not in too much pain or discomfort yet.

I'm on the fence about FB announcing.... leaning towards no formal announcement but i dont think i'll be so crazy mad if i'm "outed" by someone else.

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Chillybear: we did our formal announcement after my 10 week appointment. Before that, I was terrified that someone would out us before we were ready!

  19. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@Chillybear: and @evansjamie: I'm not that concerned if someone "outs" us on FB before we say something. We did the big announcement and then when we lost our daughter, we had to put something since everyone was waiting for the gender announcement.

Just survived a four day weekend with my MIL. And told DH we are done having houseguests for the foreseeable future. It was way too much. Luckily I think MIL understood when I said she could come whenever post-birth but she'd have to be at a hotel. I'm exhausted today though. FINALLY get my recliner back... it helps after a long day of walking (sciatic nerve pain) but MIL lounged in it all weekend so I have been HURTING!!! SWEET RELIEF!

  21. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: I'm glad you got your chair back! I don't know how I would handle houseguests at this point, I barely feel like I'm keeping it together for the two of us.

I wasn't expecting to feel so sore at this point. My feet are killing me at the end of the day most days, and I haven't gained much at this point.

  22. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@kjpugs: I'm having the opposite problem, i dont want to sleep anywhere but my own bed and we have a bunch of overnight trips coming up. Even staying over at my parents house is tough like we did saturday night. Me, hubs and our 65lb dog in a double bed, it was a good thing my brother slept out that night because in the middle of the night me and the dog moved into his bed.

@evansjamie: On the days i work my part time job which is mostly on my feet at a bridal shop my feet are already getting swollen.

I had a productive weekend. My mom, my BF (who is nowhere near ready for kids) and I went to buy buy baby and we started my registry. I found a lot of things i really liked, a lot of things i need to do more research on, and we had a lot of laughs in the process. I was surprised at how much i really liked the cribs with the changing table attached. I originally i thought we would just do the lower dresser and changing pad. I also picked up my first bum genius freetime and i love it!

  23. Redmini1

    cherry / 163 posts

@kjpugs: Glad you survived. This makes me very nervous because DH's parent always come stay with us and they are the type that don't leave. They sit on the couch all day and watch TV. I usually get agitated after the first day so I can't imagine how its going to go after baby.

@evansjaime: I haven't been feeling sore during the day (knock on wood) but sleeping and waking up are a different story. I hobble to the shower every morning because every bone feels like it needs to crack before I can stand up straight.

Having kind of a bad day today, October buddies After 4 full days of MIL, I talked to my mom (who I've NEVER had issues with) and she had some displaced stress from my sister's wedding still and basically was like "I don't know who is hosting your shower, figure it out, maybe have people just meet you at a bar or just tell people you're in town so they can see you if they want." Cue me sobbing all night long. My youngest sister (who will be in Armenia with the Peace Corps starting next month, so she'll miss it) talked to me and then to her then she called and apologized- which is appreciated!- but it's so clear tha tmy sister's wedding wiped her financially and she's really worried about it. But now I'm all stressed about my shower (back in NJ... i'm in FL.) Already I'm asking for bare minimum... because I know how my family is, and want to see everyone, I already said it could/should be in someone's backyard, causual/BBQ, coed, no games or opening gifts, etc. So I was not expecting her to act so put out.

And my other thing bothering me? This sounds ridiculous... but I am so bummed to be NOT AT ALL SHOWING. like, not at ALL. My upper belly roll (imagine a B from the side) seems bigger than the lower one. I can still wear ALL my pre-preg clothes no issue, just some are a little better than others. I feel like a lot of people around 14w are showing even just a little (like, friends/family who know would notice) and I'm so bummed because I've got NADA. I'm sure (hope?) I'll grow soon I just feel like my B belly and long torso have screwed me over.

    </rant!>

@kjpugs: I'm sorry you are having a rough day. Regarding your shower, are you interested in helping to plan at all? Maybe you could take care of one or two things (like invites/thank you notes) to help out a bit. I'm like you, I want a nice, low-key shower without a lot of fanfare (I really hate being the center of attention).

I'm not showing much at 15 weeks either. It will come though, and then we'll all be wishing we had our regular bodies back.

  26. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: The issue is mostly where to have it, without renting a place. I have TONS of relatives so I am sure one will host at their home, but that's why we're talking about it so early. I'm planning to do my thank you's, and i'm arleady working on a list of invitees, and I requested EVITES to make it easier. I think when my other sister is back from her honeymoon this week she'll help too, I think they might both email friends/family and just be like ok who wants to help/host?

@kjpugs: Oh man, I'm sorry, lady. That really sucks about your shower, but I bet once your mom relaxes on her stress for a little while, she will get excited and back on board. Just give it time!

As far as showing goes, I know I am growing because none of my pants fit, but I don't look pregnant at all... beyond the belly fat that I normally carry. I totally know what you mean about the "B" belly - it is definitely still two rolls, not a bump! I think you are thinner than me, but I am heavier (size 14) and I have resigned myself to not really showing for another several weeks. We will all be huge before you know it!

@knockedup_nowwhat: hahaha you silly goose. I'm a 16 and was 171.6 pre preg. Kind of mad I didn't make it to 170 bc that was 50lbs lost! I still just say "I lost 50 lbs" bc it's easier.

Had our 12 week u/s today and it was AMAZING! Baby is doing wonderful and everything checked out great! We had an hour of u/s and pictures since it was the first trimester screening. Doctor also told us that he is 80% sure the baby is a boy! DH and I are over the moon! We didn't care about the gender one way or the other, we just wanted healthy.

@ladybee: Sorry to thread steal but I am SO happy for you! We can likely have baby boys together! Now that you're past the 12 week mark and have seen so many amazing photos of your baby you can start to relax and really enjoy it. It gets so much better from here on out!

@kjpugs: How tall are you? I weighed 185 pre-pregnancy - maybe I should be wearing a 16 (or 18!), and I'm in denial! You look way thinner than me in all your pictures, though, so... stop.

EDITED TO ADD: Literally just saw your Instagram, and you are SO! much thinner than me, AND you totally have an adorable bump, so... STOP!

@ladybee: That is SUCH great news! Healthy baby boy(?)!!!

@ladybee: YAYYY that is amazing! Congrats!

@knockedup_nowwhat: LOL I am a wide lady- and tall, 5'7"! I am bigger hipped though which is why I'm a 16. You probably have less hips than me then!

I did IG this but I spoke too soon- look how much a full meal brings out the bump! It's maybe 5% baby but at least I know how to LOOK preggo now!

  39. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@kjpugs: i think a lot has to do with the style of clothing your wearing. I find that maternity clothes make me look more pregnant but if i'm wearing a pp top it hides it.

I made the mistake of measuring my "waist" the other day at the bridal shop I can no longer suck it in and its 4" bigger than pp. I went from 37" bust 31" waist 43" hip to 42" bust, 35" waist 45" hip but i'm only up 5lbs.

So I haven't been on here in weeks! I thought I had missed a lot, but doesn't look like too much! Our house just sold so we have been busy trying to find a new home!

I'm 14 weeks this week but a few weeks ago, I was having random dizzy spells.. one ended up resulting in me throwing up for the first time Anyone else experience this?

I also get bummed that my pants won't button but I feel like I'm not showing at all. It's an awkward in between stage and it makes me second guess if everything is okay in there... My next appointment is next week and it seems like each time it gets close my anxiety slowly goes up... I just don't really feel pregnant and that freaks me out! My stomach has been bothering me and I'm hungry all the time so my husband asked me what I am expecting to feel like that would make me feel okay. I guess I don't know... I'm just ready to feel the flutters or start showing... something!
