@Evansjamie: Woo hoo for roof day! Ours is going to need repairs soon but we are hoping to milk it as is for as long as we can.
@Mrs. Yoyo: I love advice especially from people who have already been there. In fact I trust all of your advice on HB more than the people I see in real life.
@kjpugs: Hugs from me too. It is really stressful, sometime it keeps me up because I run down all the things we need to do in my head like deciding on a pediatrician. I don't know if you are a list person but it helps me to just write down 1-2 things a day to do so it doesn't feel as overwhelming.

@Redmini1: We wouldn't be getting a new roof right now if our insurance wasn't paying for it. The inspector told us we'd need one in 3-5 years (bought the house in March 2012), so I'm super glad that there was enough damage for the insurance to pay.

@evansjamie: happy roof day (and Friday)! So awesome that your insurance is paying for it too!

@Sadieloo: I know! I thought we'd have to fight tooth and nail with them, but the adjuster was great and we have a great roofer who was there and made sure he saw all the bad parts (most of which you couldn't see from the ground). We had lots of wind and hail damage apparently.

@evansjamie: That's amazing -- I would have thought the same as well. Hope it turns out well!

The new roof, courtesy of my husband and his iPhone. I'm so excited!!!! And also very ready to finish the rest of the curb appeal projects on the list (paint garage door, new windows, new shutters, new door).

Just had our 3D/4D ultrasound! It was AMAZINGGGGG! So cute to see her little face! She looks like me more from the side. They even saw a "few" hairs on her head hahaha. (She's going to be mostly bald. I can promise you that.) Anyone else do this or plan to? It was amazing and I think it really got DH into the pregnancy more, he was SO into it!

@kjpugs: Ahh, she is precious! She definitely looks like you!!!
We're going next week... Mostly because I only get one ultrasound with my midwife practice, and I'm worried she's grown a penis, haha. Did you get a good money shot?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@daniellemybelle: LOL! Oh you can BET that I asked her to check hahahaha. And no picture snapped of it but don't worry, she's still all girl hahaha. I was like "not that I didn't trust you last time I just figure since you're in there anyway...." So this was 3rd time confirming girl. She even just looked like a little girl! Can't wait to hear how yours goes! It was such an amazing experience.

@kjpugs: She's beautiful! We aren't doing the 3d/4d, my husband thinks they are weird.
I was poking my belly yesterday and I felt a foot. So weird!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@kjpugs: was it covered by your insurance or did you pay out of pocket?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ladybee: out of pocket, it was an elective ultrasound. We paid I think $80 there for our gender reveal ultrasound around 16w4d, and then this one was $100 plus we got 25% off for returning, so $75.

@evansjamie: yay! New roof!
@kjpugs: great ultrasound!!! Ours would have been $200 out of pocket, so we opted not to do it.
Afm, we had an appointment on Monday. Baby weighs almost 4 lbs and I finally put in some weight this last month--5 lbs! My blood pressure was a little higher than normal so my dr is seeing me tomorrow (1week) instead of in 2 weeks. I think part of it was due to a lot of salt I had had and I was super stressed about school starting. No protein in my urine and no swelling, so that's good!
Now that I'm typing this, I'm wondering if I already said all this? I have the worst pregnancy brain. We set up our pack n play in our room and I dreamed about my mom telling me that she though the baby would come around 36-37 weeks and I needed to have all my clothes washed.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@kjpugs: that's a great deal! Like @Jennimac: it'd be about $200 here (I called around and googled) so it's out for us. If I would have thought about it in the first tri we could have saved but at this stage and with money flying out the window it's a no go. Your picture looks great! Can't wait to see how it matches your lo!
@Jennimac: your pack n play looks great. My OB said at my last appointment "30 weeks, won't be much longer now" when I said that 10 weeks was still plenty of time he replied with, "even though we'd like them to wait till 40 weeks I've seen them start coming at 34. Try to be prepared for an early arrival just as much as a late one."
IM SORRY, WHAT?!?! Que panic! I've washed all weekend. Our big shower is in two weeks which I'm excited for but this is my last week of vacation before back to school. When do you start?
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ladybee: oh my!!! That would stress me out! We've been back at work since the 7th and kids came back this last Wednesday, the 14th!!!! Friday was a good day and I'm hoping Monday will be very calm :). I can't imagine our LOs coming that early!!! No way!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Jennimac: Yep, feeling the pressure now!
@ladybee: Seeing so many August mommies have early babies freaked me out! I'm waiting for my laundry detergent to come in the mail so I can start prepping my diapers. Also, I'm at Target right now and my cart is full of wipes and hangers for baby, since nobody got any for us. Ahhhh!
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: So cute! I can't believe how much she looks like a real baby. I don't know how you felt about previous sonograms, but I swear that our baby looked more alien than human

@ladybee: 30 weeks?!?! Jeez! I am way behind then. We have the crib set-up and that is about it. Lots and lots of work to do. Sigh.

Sorry i need to rant today.... I'm almost 33 weeks and super frustrated. My energy level has plummeted there is so much left to do and i feels like just not enough time to do it in. We're making progress in the basement, my husband is working so hard to get it done so we can get the baby's room empty but things are just taking so much longer than i feel like they should. My family was over yesterday and my dad was hooking up the high hats and once they finished they started putting up the ceiling tiles. I was hoping that with three extra sets of hands we would get everything moved down there but there's still more tiles to put up. I'm stressing out big time. My dad's pick up truck is in the shop so they couldnt bring up the crib (not that we have anywhere to set it up). I'm pretty sure my shower isnt for another 3 weeks, I know i'm pretty anal and i just want to have the time to really do the nursery up the way i want it and not rush through it just to get it done. I still have so many more little projects i need to do. ok i'm done, i'm sorry i just needed to get that out.....

@Chillybear: Lady, no worries. My energy level has tanked as well and it is so annoying when things seem to take way longer than they should. And who thought it would be awesome to have a shower so close to the due date?
I actually called in sick today because I was so freaking tired. I definitely overdid it this weekend and I feel like a bum, but ultimately I feel like it was better for me to stay home and rest than to try to go to work and not be able to accomplish anything and possibly have to go home.
Our first childbirth class was last night and I enjoyed it! There is one couple due in September, and then there are a few October babies as well. Everyone else is due from Nov. to Jan. most people seem nice, but there is one guy who seems like kind of a douche. He made some comment about walking not being exercise. His wife has kept up a light strength training routine. More power to her, but at this point walking the dog and taking the stairs is as much exercise as I get.
kiwi / 726 posts
@Chillybear: I totally sympathize with you! We are in the process of moving from an apartment to our house (our final move is on Saturday unless DH didn't get a truck big enough to fit our stuff as I suspect is the case). We still haven't finished painting nor a few of the other things we wanted to do before moving in. DH hasn't been progressing as quickly as we had hoped and because he didn't buy the no VOC paint I can't help. He seems to think he can do everything himself and isn't asking any help which is driving me bananas. We have yet to take our birthing class and DH hasn't opened a book about childbirth or anything! That said, I am trying to remind myself that I have 7 or so weeks and as long as the baby has a place to sleep, eat and poop that is all that really matters.
@evansjamie: my energy level has also really declined. I don't know if it's because I am running around like a crazy person and/or not sleeping, but I feel completely unmotivated and my body really doesn't want to move anymore! Glad to hear you enjoyed your birthing class. Also glad (I'm being sarcastic) that the baby, birthing, whatever competition has already started. You should tell him you are also doing some light weightlifting -- called carrying around a 4+ lb baby around ALL day!

@evansjamie: @chillybear: I say we all get together to eat bon bons and watch trashy reality TV
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Definitely! This no sleep thing is taking its toll. I have a hard time falling asleep and then I wake up for the day between 5:00-5:30 every day.
Yep, as long as baby has things to wear and a place to eat, sleep, and poop, the rest can wait if it has to.

@evansjamie: I had the realization today that I may never sleep through the night again. Yowsers!
@Chillybear: Awesome! I really would do a virtual girls night one night

mini-rant...the daycare we chose to send our LO to in january has announced a 20% increase in fees! there's still a small chance we'll stick with them, but it's making DH and i go back to the drawing board one more time. good thing our second choice still has infant openings for january...

@kjpugs: Hi there! Congrats on your 3D/4D! It must have been so exciting! I'm considering it, but our doctor doesn't offer it. Did you do this at a commercial place? Or did you Dr. offer?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsMed: it was an elective ultrasound aka outside of our OB/doctor's practice. They did offer it at ours but it was way expensive. I just googled elective ultrasounds orlando and found a few options and looked at their websites/reviews etc. I found one had a fb page that my friend had "liked" so I asked her and she loved them, so that was enough for me! It was very reasonable and they had a lot of options!

@mrs. mochi: We've been on the waiting list at our preferred day care since February. While i'm sure eventually we'll get a spot there i'm going to look at 2 places that are 10 minutes from work. While it would put pick up and drop offs completely on me. It might be nice if i could go and nurse on my lunch break

@MrsMed: French fries work for me too That sucks that your daycare is raising it's fees by 20%! We are so behind on all of that stuff...

Ugh, I had a bout of blurry vision tonight. More than half my vision was like I was looking through frosted glass. Thankfully, it only lasted about 30 minutes, but I'm bringing it up to my midwife tomorrow at my appointment.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Oh no! I did read somewhere that that is a common pregnancy symptom.
Rant time - I am so frustrated right now. I have now worked a full day, made dinner and packed 6 boxes. DH has packed 1 box - 1 box and is instead focusing on frickin' fantasy football. WTF!

@evansjamie: I had that often in the first trimester. Turns out I was dehydrated... Don't know if that's the issue in your case, but my doc just told me to up my water intake. I did and the issue went away.
