Okay, I'm finally updating! I felt pretty shitty these last few weeks, so I was having a hard time coming up with the motivation to update, and then it was just sounding like a total pity party. Which I'm sure many of you would understand! But feeling like that while taking care of a 10 month old...ugh, it's rough! There's been lots of vomit and pain and weight loss. But I have been reading all of your posts!
Today is the first time in forever (Frozen, anyone? haha) that I've felt normal! I'm almost at the 13 week point, so that makes sense, but last pregnancy my morning sickness lasted the whole time - I'll be so grateful if that's not the case this time around! I'm still dealing with a bit of pain from a tooth that needs a root canal - my dentist won't do it until I'm a bit into the second trimester. So that will be taken care of the week after Easter....which is also when I'll be having my ultrasound to hopefully find out the gender!
I'm SO ready to know what we're having - I'm mega jealous of those of you who already know! I guess I could have had that test done, but I've heard that if you've given birth to a baby boy recently you can still have some Y chromosomes floating around in there, so it's not as accurate. So I'll be going to a 3D ultrasound place at 15 weeks, and if they're not positive they'll have me come back at a later date.
Fingers crossed that feeling good today isn't a fluke, and that things are going to be improving!

@wonderstruck: glad you're feeling better!! I'm considering going to a 3D place as well. I'll be 15 weeks the Weds before Easter so I think it would be fun if we could surprise our families that weekend. Not sure if DH will want to go early since our anatomy scan is only 2.5 weeks later but I'm going to try to convince him
@Mrs tartan: I only work two days per week now but I'm on call overnight once/week and every fourth weekend all weekend. I just cannot fathom doing that overnight on call with a newborn so unless they are willing to let me skip the overnights for a few extra months, I'm out. I don't plan on having that convo until after my initial 12 week leave though.

@bushelandapeck: Our hospital won't do it until 20 weeks, so finding out over a month sooner is definitely worth it to me! DH would rather wait and not spend the money, but he knows it's really important to me so he caved, haha.

@MrsScottish: Of course we don't mind! With my son, we were due on Aug14th/Aug 18th (the drs went by my LMP even though my initial u/s dated it a few days earlier), but he came on July 31st...you just never know!
@Ms.Pumpkin: That's too cute! She was definitely waiting for Daddy.
Nothing new to report here, either. It's been a CRAZY few weeks at work - we had MCAS testing, evaluations, and parent conferences - but they are all over with (for now), so I felt a huge sense of relief when this week ended. Looking forward to April break, that's for sure! Our next office visit is on Tuesday, but I think I'm heading to that solo. My husband works til 8pm, so he's not sure if he'll be able to sneak away...he's gonna try. I'm REALLY hoping to hear the heartbeat at this appointment. We haven't been able to hear it yet. Since I have a tilted uterus (weird bc I didn't in my other pregnancies), we weren't able to hear it at our last office visit.

Oh, and I forgot to include this in my post, but my next appointment is on Monday! And all my bloodwork came back normal - I was pretty proud of myself for getting the bloodwork done right away on the first try, with my first pregnancy I passed out every time.

@Ms.Pumpkin: awww what a cute story to tell them one day
@wonderstruck: so glad you're feeling better and jealous at the same time! I have my fingers crossed really tight that I'll get some relief soon bec I'm just miserable.
@however briefly: as always, thanks for keeping up with all our dates and make such fab charts etc. the new icons and how they look in the charts!
kiwi / 745 posts
@however briefly If by amazing you mean weird and uncomfortable, it certainly was that! She tried to just do it abdominally but wound up needing to do a trans vaginal, which tickled and was weird for me, and the baby is very blob-like but she said it's definitely a baby, it has a heart beat, and I'm measuring at 10w2d and they kept my due date at 10/31. (I'm lurking here and on the November board like @MrsScottish). The doctors and I are the only ones excited about a Halloween baby, my husband thinks that would be terrible. Halloween is totally one of my favorite holidays and now I'm going to have an excuse to throw epic costume parties. Possibly with themes.
My doctor was a little bit down on my plan to continue bike commuting, but because I'm a nice and respectful person, I told her she was wrong and I'd be fine. I suspect this will be the only thing I'm genuinely stubborn about, because we only have one car and it is the best way to get to work, especially in the summer time when it's too hot to walk and the bus is sweaty and smelly. I plan to stop in early September because I think at that point I will have balance issues. She's very concerned about me falling or getting hit, but so far I've gotten hit by a car while driving and while walking to work, so cycling seems to be the safest option?
Anyway, now I'm just waiting for results on bloodwork - the only thing I see being weird is my thyroid maybe? I tend to be super cold all the time and am still super cold, so I might have a thyroid issue.
I have weird issues about jinxing myself, but I think I'm going to order myself some maternity dress pants so I have them for when I need them. Does anyone else have jinx fears? Also, what is the risk of m/c after seeing a heartbeat and making it to 10 weeks? I mean, obviously it's not zero, but it must be down, right? (I have some pretty severe anxiety issues I'm working on, but I just feel like it's so impossible to get lucky enough to conceive on the first try and actually have a healthy pregnancy.)

Cross posted on November! We announced on social media today. Like, 30 minutes ago. The response has been overwhelming! DH uploaded this picture (edited to remove our names). I uploaded ultrasound pics and a status that said "It seems like everyone is getting married or having kids. Well, we did the marriage thing last October, so this October I figure we can do the next part? Baby (lastname) due October 2014!"
We are jokesters so this kind of thing was expected

@Ms.Mermaid: I think a Halloween baby would be fun!
@Mrs.Panda: that's pretty awesome!
As for myself I am super excited for my appointment Thursday, there is something comforting about my midwifes office and I can't wait to smell it again... is that weird? Lol I am a bit worried about the discussion that will probably happen about my weight since I am about 33lbs over what I was at my first appointment last pregnancy. I'm sure she will have something to say about that. Either way I've lost about 10-13 lbs so far depending on the day so maybe that will make up for it? Lol

@Mrs Tartan I know, right?! I think I've been hiding out because I was so scared something might happen. I'm (finally) starting to feel excited and hopeful.

@bunnylovesbear: @however briefly: Hope your appointments went well today!!!

I'm not sure if I should change the calendar yet since it's not 100% but the doctor today said that she is 99% sure we are having a GIRL!
Both DH and I were really hoping for a boy but I haven't experienced any gender disappointment at all like I was afraid I might. I am so excited!! (DH, on the other hand, is completely overwhelmed at the thought.)

@OMM4: Congrats and welcome!
@bushelandapeck: No ultrasound. That's not til the 24th
@cmbknyc: Thanks and even if she does I refuse to beat myself up over it because I actually feel physically healthier and more capable than I did last time.
@however briefly: Awwww yay! That's so exciting

Hey girls!
Almost 4 months... can you believe it? MS has pretty much completely gone away, but sometimes if I brush my tongue too vigorously, my gag reflex is severely tested. I have been experiencing some indigestion on and off, but nothing unbearable. I've had more energy lately BUT I've also been experiencing crazy insomnia! I'll fall asleep around 9 or 10 but then starting at midnight, I'll realize I'm actually awake. My eyes will be closed but I'm totally conscious. From then on I'll drift in and out of sleep until I have to wake up for work. Totally exhausting! I tried taking Unisom (dr recommended!) on Friday night, and I slept through the night... and most of Saturday! haha! Last night I tried taking half a dose (just chopped the pill in half) and I fell asleep easily but then had the insomnia again. I want to try again tonight... maybe 3/4 dose? I mean, the first time I took it was on an empty stomach, and last night I had a full stomach, so I'm sure those affected matters as well. Ugh!
I'll take insomnia over ms any day of the week, though.
Next week I have my quad-screen, which is some fancy blood test, no? My doctor did not offer me the NT scan because I'm not 35+, so hopefully the quad screen goes well. We have our anatomy scan two weeks post quad screen, but since we're electing to keep the sex a surprise, I guess I'm most excited to see if it has arms and legs and stuff (my last u/s was at week 8, which was still pretty blob-like, and our ER u/s had some appendages but was so fast that I didn't really get to see much).
Anyway, I had a few girls over for dinner last night and found out ANOTHER girl I know is pregnant (chalk that up to eight girls, now) so there is definitely something in the air! Or it's just the age; we're all close to 30.
In any case, I'm hoping everyone is surviving!

@mrskoloa: wooo! You're getting there! I can't believe how fast it has been going. Happy your ms is gone, that's the worst. And u/s are fun either way, I love seeing them in there

@OMM4: Welcome and congrats!
@Howeverbriefly: Yay for a girl!
@MrsKoloa: Glad your ms is done - I had the exact same type of insomnia from weeks 6-8, then it completely went away. Hopefully yours goes away soon too!

@Mrs.Panda: hahahaha - love the announcement!
@OMM4: welcome!!
@however briefly: congrats!! Little girls are so much fun!! I think I'm secretly hoping for a girl this time around...although honestly, a boy would be much easier (for bedroom and clothes-sharing reasons. Lol.). the thought of a preteen daughter with a teen big bro with his dreamy friends makes me a little nervous...haha...that may be tough!!
I'll update in a little bit about my appointment today.

@however briefly: eeeeee! So exciting! Congrats!!
@mrskoloa: Yay! Here's to feeling better! I feel you on the insomnia- I'm still getting up at least once in the middle of the night to pee, and sometimes I'm not lucky enough to get right back to sleep. So frustrating!
@Mrs tartan, @bushelandapeck: I've been waiting to tell work because I'm having some of the same issues- I simply can't keep this job schedule (with the awful commute) after the baby comes, so I'm trying to figure out how to ask for a part time schedule, but I'm terrified they'll say no! But part time would really be the best thing for our family if I don't get a more local job, so I have to ask! Fingers crossed the employment situations all work out!

My office visit went well this afternoon...other than the huge wait. They called me yesterday and asked me to come in an hr earlier, and then had me wait 45 mins in the waiting room. SUPER frustrating.
I'm up 3 pounds, which was a little surprising... Bc according to my home scale I had only gained maybe a pound. No biggie, though. He went over my NT results quickly...everything looks great; came back as super low risk. It's what I expected since I don't have any family history, but it was still a relief to have it be official. I finally got to hear the heartbeat - absolutely magical. I'm bummed my husband missed it. I should've recorded it for him, but I thought of it too late. I think I might buy a home doppler. 152bpm. I also asked about my due date based on my u/s. I've been curious if it was any different from my LMP. Based on the first u/s, the due date was only a day off, 10/13, so my Dr made 10/14 the "official" due date since they were so close. We also talked about csection vs natural birth. Since I've already had 2 csections, he did recommend having another for the third, which I'm totally ok with. We even went as far as looking at a calendar to see the potential dates - if I go full term, it sounds like we have the choice for our little bean to be born 10/7-10/14. Kinda crazy to think about...
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@bunnylovesbear: Great news! I hate the doctors scales, especially since I am in the habit of weighing myself without all of my clothes on so when I go to the doctors its always a bit disappointing. That's cool that you are already thinking about a date
kiwi / 630 posts
@however briefly: Yay!!!! Congratulations @bunnylovesbear: Congrats on a good scan! Wow kind of crazy that you already are talking dates for your c-section.
I have a regular appt on May 2nd and our anatomy scan on May 12th...eeeekkk!!! It's all suddenly moving so fast

@mrskoloa: I'm experiencing terrible insomnia as well...the same thing happened with my son too. Glad your nausea has subsided though!
@Ms.Pumpkin: I finally told my supervisor and office mate today...they were not surprised. Apparently I've been dressing differently (ie: wearing loose fitting clothing) and that was somehow a tip off. Haha. I'm glad to have finally done it because it feels so much better not having to hide it anymore. Almost none of my pants fit this morning so I knew the time was fast approaching for me to start showing. I'm still not sure how it will all work out with leave and coming back, but I'm optimistic that they will be flexible with the on call piece and with coming back around 4 months pp instead of 3. We shall see!
@bunnylovesbear: Glad to hear your appointment went well and you were able to hear the heartbeat! And to be thinking about due dates already-yikes!!

So much for morning sickness being gone. I've been vomiting so hard today that at one point it came gushing out of my nose, and then I had a bloody nose. So there's a lovely visual for you all on how my day is going!

@wonderstruck: Ugh I'm so sorry!!! That's just the worst - especially when you thought it was done and over with. I hope today is better for you!!!!
@bushelandapeck: glad telling your supervisor went well! It's such a relief when you don't have to hide things anymore
pomegranate / 3980 posts
Appointment went great! She didn't even say anything about my weight which surprised me. Also, she is 100% confident in my ability to have a vbac which makes me happy Though they couldn't quite find the heartbeat, they were able to hear when the baby moved (which I could feel!) so we aren't worried about it, she said baby was probably just in the wrong position. My next appointment is May 8th.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@cmbknyc: Yeah, unfortunately it didn't get better - the throwing up got more and more intense until it had been over 24 hours since I had kept down any food or water, so I had to go into the hospital to be given fluids and anti-nausea meds via IV - which was awful because I'm terrified of needles. Turned out I also had an infection, so they treated me for that. Today's been marginally better, but not much
pomelo / 5720 posts
@wonderstruck: oh my goodness! I'm so sorry I hope they were able to give you something to help with the nausea too.
@cyndistar3: glad you're appointment went well! And yay for feeling movement!
persimmon / 1286 posts
my nausea has been slowly subsiding. i hope it's on its way out for good!
this week, i've been trying to get myself back together after almost 2 months of hibernating on my couch, crying about how sick I felt. got my hair, nails, and waxing done, and bought a few things online (2 bella bands, 2 stretchy shirts, maternity blazer on sale). maybe my trying to be positive attitude and the nice weather will kick the remaining nausea to the curb!
is anyone else showing? i've always had a little tummy, so now it's more noticeable, and since i am 13+ weeks, i am not trying to hide it. by the beginning of next week, we will have told everyone we are close to, including my work, so I won't care as much if it gets out (still not doing a big announcement though).
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@lioneyes: I had trouble losing the baby weight from my son, but if I'm wearing a tighter fitting shirt you can tell that I'm showing a little bit. I've been losing weight from the hypermesis gravidarum though, so that's making it more pronounced too. Not enough that someone who doesn't know me would guess, but those who do know that I'm pregnant have noticed it.
I feel like such a downer but I'm just feeling sorry for myself today...the nurse doing my IV had a tough time since I was so dehydrated, and she had to do it in a spot where my wrist bone is still killing me. And I'm just achy and sick and feel like crap...tomorrow's my birthday, and I was so excited for cake, dinner at my favorite place, and finally seeing Divergent...and unless a miracle happens it's all going to be cancelled. Sigh. On the plus side, my mom took today and tomorrow off since DH isn't able to and has been waiting on me and taking care of L.
