@cyndistar3: I'm always cold but it's freezing in my neck of the woods so I'm not surprised. I am right there with you in the food department, all I can tolerate is toast. But my food aversion is very closely tied with my never ending nausea. I really hope this goes away soon because it just sucks feeling like this all day with no relief. Hope you feel warm and want food soon!!!

@cmbknyc: I am only nauseated when I smell food that is unapealing and when I am hungry so... seeing as most food is unappealing I am rather sick feeling often but not nearly as bad as last time! I really just want some jello hahaha. I hope you start feeling better too, never ending nausea sucks

Sorry ladies. SOOO behind at the moment. Life has kicked into crazy mode and I haven't had much time to breathe much less pop on the laptop lately. I will update the list and catch up with everything I've missed this weekend though. Just wanted to say sorry that I've been very MIA and that I hope everyone is doing well and those little babies are growing growing growing.

Aaahhh! So I'm at work and can't really catch up at the moment, but just wanted to drop in and share the big news!

We got the results of the cell-free fetal DNA test today, and the best news is that everything looks normal- we're low risk for Downs, and trisomies 13 and 18. It's a huge relief, and I love knowing that my OB practice will be very happy with that, and won't recommend any more invasive testing.

But the other big news... we're having a GIRL!! I called Mr.P with the news, and he was with a good friend of his at work, so he put me on speaker so we could share the news. The amount of shouting and cheering was so great, and I'm so happy that he's just as excited about this as I am!

@cyndistar3, @MrsScottish, @Mrs tartan, @Mrs.Panda: Thanks, ladies! I was SO CONVINCED that we were going to have a boy (even though I've always wanted a daughter!)- mainly because of Mr.P's family. He's the youngest of 5 kids, and only has 1 sister. The rest are boys. I just assumed that we'd have a better chance of following that pattern.

While I'm over the moon about having a girl, because I thought we'd be having a boy, I spent a lot of time thinking about how cool a little boy would be- and I mentioned that I was not sad, exactly, but maybe wistful about not having a boy, and Mr. P immediately said, "We'll just have to have another, then". Whoa there, boy! I'm just trying to get out of the first trimester, much less plan for a second!!

@however briefly: I hear ya...I've been in the saaame boat the past couple weeks. I check in on my iPhone from time to time, but haven't done much posting. To make matters worse, both our laptop chargers died within weeks, so we have two dead laptops until we replace them!

I'm thinking of making the fb announcement on Tuesday after our NT scan. We will be exactly 12 weeks that day, and the fact that it is April Fools Day is too tempting of a reveal to miss! Lol. We were going to wait until Easter, so we could tell our extended families in person, but I don't know if I can wait that long. Just gonna post a pic of a bun in the oven as my profile pic and let the speculations begin!

  11. cyndistar3

    pomegranate / 3980 posts

@bunnylovesbear: that sounds great! I don't know that I could pass up an April fools announcement either. Also, how are you feeling this go around? Any better or worse than last time?

  12. bunnylovesbear

    kiwi / 600 posts

@cyndistar3: I am sooo exhausted 99% of the day. I don't remember EVER being this tired before. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. No major complaints or morning sickness. If I let myself get too hungry, I start to get a little nauseous. No real appetite, either...but the same thing happened in my last pregnancy. How about you?

  13. cyndistar3

    pomegranate / 3980 posts

@bunnylovesbear: Basically the same here except I don't feel quite as tired as last time even though I'm exhausted most of the day too! Last time I couldn't even stand to wash dishes for more than a few minutes at a time without almost passing out, but last time I had a terrible time with not being able to breathe and getting dizzy. Thankfully I haven't experienced that yet this time. And my ms is about the same as yours, I usually only have issues if I get hungry. I also don't really feel like eating much either.

I've been getting weekly bump pics and it's been super fun watching the bump grow! I definitely feel more attached to this baby now. I think it's finally becoming real for not only me but DH as well. He's been pretty insistent on me not "stressing him out" by talking about the baby while he has so many other things he needs to worry about before the baby comes. His job is high stress normally (stomach ulcers and all) so adding in all the international moving, he's been happier hiding his head in a hole until he absolutely has to acknowledge that a baby is imminent.

But then the ultrasound photos came in the mail and he sat next to me in the car like a giddy little kid and totally GUSHED over the photos and grinned like a loon the whole rest of the day. It was so surprising and such a relief! Now, it's like he's suddenly seeing the baby as not another source of stress but something to look forward to! I turned on the documentary Babies yesterday while I was going through organizing our filing cabinet and he sat down next to me and was enthralled through the entire thing. I honestly didn't expect it to hold his interest for long! And now I catch him watching cute toddler and baby videos on youtube all the time. I didn't realize how much HIM stressing out about having a baby was making ME stress out but now it's like a huge weight has been lifted off of me.

We posted about the pregnancy on facebook the other day since we hit the 12 week milestone. Well actually, I just posted the video we made without any sort of description so there still is only a small group that actually know. I know most people just scrolled on by I'm not planning on saying anything else until we find out the sex. We're moving week 17 so I'm hoping we either find out the week before or a couple of weeks after that so I have the time to properly enjoy the response

@butterbean: We have had three scans thus far because we went through a fertility clinic and conceived through IUI. The clinic does a preliminary ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and then requires another one to make sure the baby is growing before they released our SM to go to a midwife. Then the midwife practice requires an ultrasound at their first appointment. We have an NT scan in a week but other than that, I don't think we'll have any others until the normal anatomy scan.

Here's the latest bump pic we've gotten:

I also just ordered about $200 worth of maternity clothes from Old Navy sent to SM. Most of it is just work basics as she has a very business formal work environment and she's already having a hard time fitting into her clothes. I also sent along a bathing suit since she likes to swim and she's outgrown hers last week. Hopefully this will get her through the second trimester and into the third but we shall see

@however briefly: SM is certainly getting a bump now! Has she told everyone? Will she get maternity leave off work or having to use up annual leave?
So nice of you to buy her maternity clothes, I never would have even thought of that.

Oh I have a midwife appointment on 15th April (16 weeks) then my second and last u/s is scheduled for 7th may.

  22. however briefly

    cherry / 249 posts

@Mrs tartan: A few of her close friends whom she normally goes out drinking with know and have known since the beginning but other than that, she's hoping to get through another two to three weeks before telling anyone at her work. She's also lucking out and her job gives a very generous (for the US, that is) 12 weeks paid maternity leave which I know she is very much looking forward to. She's working 16 hour days at the moment so I know it's like the light at the end of the tunnel for her. I wish we could afford to send her and her girl friend on a really nice vacation once the baby is born but unfortunately not

Will update the list tomorrow! I'm on my way to bed as I am barely able to keep my eyes open any longer.

@However Briefly I have a super formal work environment too and I just invested in an open-front blazer that I found from New York & Co. Ann Taylor Loft has some as well. I'm hoping they can last through at least the second tri. Might be something your sister would be interested in if she wears blazers for work.

I'm so jealous that everyone else is hitting the 12-week mark! I haven't even had my first appointment yet! (Next Monday....almost there!) I'm excited to not have to lie to people anymore, although I'm not that excited about everyone knowing and thinking it is their business to question my recent sushi addiction. (Seriously. It's my only constant craving. I'm eating cooked/veggie sushi and I ask them to prepare it away from the raw stuff.) I'm probably pre-emptively overreacting but I feel like food choices are highly personal. I think I'm most concerned about people thinking it's their business to tell me that I need to start eating meat again (I've been a vegetarian for 13 years.) Also, I'm still job hunting so I don't really want it to get around to people that might hire me. We probably won't do a big social media announcement until at least 20 weeks, but at least at 12 weeks I'll be able to tell my friends. One of my friends had a baby last November and has been hounding us to sign up for obstacle course races and ice hockey tournaments and I keep having to be conveniently unavailable!

Sorry for the storm of whining, I just feel like there is so much "hurry up and wait!" during this part.

@Ms.Mermaid: She's been living in tight, stretchy dresses and blazers at work since her bump started growing as she says they are the most comfortable so I mainly focused on dresses and skirts. I will definitely mention this to her as I have no idea how much longer her blazers will continue to fit Thank you!

I'm sorry you are unable to tell people right away. That's the worst. I was so anxious to tell the facebook crowd because I kept on getting well-intentioned messages asking about how our TTC was going and I hated lying so much. And then 12 weeks rolled around, we posted our video, and even though only like fifteen or twenty people saw it, it was a huge relief and doesn't bother me anymore. I think it was just the stress of random people asking about it and not knowing what to say. Now I can just tell them without feeling weird that I'm telling some acquaintance from high school ten years ago that I haven't seen since while I haven't told friends that are much closer to me.

I hope this time goes by really quickly for you!

@however briefly: that was so sweet of you! I love to see the growing bumps!

I have an OB appt this week on 4/2 and will hopefully schedule our anatomy scan then as well. We have decided to wait to tell family until Easter so we can tell them in person. I was itching to tell people this weekend but DH wants to do it in person, at least with his parents, so we wait. I'm actually fine with waiting as I was feeling anxious about telling people. I figure it will be somewhat obvious at Easter anyway since I will be almost 16 weeks. We will probably just have DS wear his big brother shirt and see how long it takes people to notice

Our scan went great! The doctor told us the baby looks perfect and has a lower risk of a trisomy than even a typical person my age which is already low because I'm young. Heart rate of 165!

so, some exciting news...we are team BOY! i didn't have an nt scan today because the (very good) results from my cell-free DNA test (materniT21) came back last week (along with finding out the sex), so we skipped it.
today we had a normal appointment and heard the heartbeat with the doppler. next appointment is our quad markers on 5/2 (16 weeks)
i am going to start telling some of my friends this week, will tell "everyone" after our 16 week appointment.
i am totally shocked but totally excited to have a baby boy come october!
