    @YouGotMe: @whiskers: Glad I'm not the only one! It's tough for me because I usually sleep like a rock--and it's really hard for me to fall asleep again once I'm out of the bed.

    @mfa_lady: ugh yes. Up usually twice to pee. It will be like this until the end for me. Yuck! I take unisom because like you mentioned, I have a hard time falling back asleep after I pee if I don't take it. And my toddler now likes to wake at 530 for the day.

    Finally caught up after a few days away getting ready for our gender reveal party last night!!! It went really well, till we found out the gender and my husband didn't react the way anyone expected (and not in a good way). Was a bit rocky from there but we're working thru it today. I was just happy to FINALLY find out. I'll be 17 weeks on Wednesday and these results have been available since 10.5 weeks.

    So....here it is!!!

    @waiting4you: A GIRL! Squee! Congratulations! I hope you are ok? It sounds like it didn't quite go the way you wanted.

    @jaguar: I'm very happy, though with all we've been thru with IVF I really didn't care either way. I was leaning towards wanting a girl but knew my husband really wanted a boy. Again, after allllll we've been thru I was just overjoyed to be where we are. I took great pride in putting together a wonderful party, despite being super busy and pregnant, and was so pleased to have pulled it off. I was crushed that my husband expressed his disappointment in a never ending display of tactlessness as soon as the balloons rose into the air. He really managed to make the remainder of the party miserable. His lack of gratitude for our baby girl and all the work that went into the party, pretty much took away any excitement I had. There's been a lot of arguing since and we're supposed to leave for a week long wedding in NC in the morning (an 11 hour drive each way). I hardly want to speak to him at this point so this wedding week sounds like torture. I haven't even packed yet because I wasn't sure I was even going to go. All together heartbroken that he could display this type of behavior and lack of gratitude in front of all our close friends and family. 😓

    @waiting4you: Oh hun, I am absolutely crushed reading this. I am so, so sorry - I don't know how I would handle this too. For what it's worth, I am over the MOON for your little fighter girl.

    @waiting4you: Oh, I am so sorry your husband is being such a bonehead about this! I hope he can get over his disappointment soon and realize how poor his attitude is. It's okay to be disappointed, but it's not okay to act like he is. I'm so excited for your little girl though!

    @waiting4you: I'm so sorry :(. I mean, didn't he know there was a 50% chance of girl?!

  16. waiting4you

    apricot / 344 posts

    @avivoca: I, and everyone else, honestly had no idea where his motivation came from to act the way he did. It was shocking. I woke up to text messages asking if I was ok and reminding me how wonderful the party was, etc, It was sad to know everyone there "felt" his disappointment.

    @FaithFertility: I know he will be too! Crazy thing is, just before we opened the box we made our final guesses and he even guessed it would be a girl. Yet when the balloons came out he was crushed it wasn't a boy. We had stumbled on a boy name that we loved so I guess he had started to "see" this little boy named Hagan and start creating a life with a son. Still...it was always a 50/50 chance and I don't know how he couldn't have been grateful and excited either way.

    @whiskers: Luckily after a LONG 24 hours, and many calls from his friends to ask him with the F was wrong with him, he's started to come around. The other odd part of this is...ALLLL his friends have girls. Of his close group of 5 guy friends from grade school, they have a collective 11 children...10 of those children are girls! Also his 2 partners at work both have baby girls less than a year old and his best friend has 2 girls under 4. If anything he should probably feel more comfortable being a first time parent of a girl considering all the baby girl support he'll have.

    @winniebee: Yup...but like I responded above, I guess he didn't realize how badly he wanted a boy till he saw the pink balloons. still NO excuse for his behavior. He got very very defensive and felt like everyone was mocking him with the "I knew it" and "I told you so"....it's a gender reveal party...what did you think they were going to say?! We had people wear colored pins to show their guess. I don' tknow...I'm baffled along with everyone else.

    He did come in my office last night and say we need to come up with a name for our little girl. That way he can start connecting with her. So....little girls names will be on the conversation list for the 22 hour round trip drive we have this week.

    On a fun note...this was one of my favorite things from the party. I can't take credit because I originally saw on Pinterest, but my MIL made the cake for us. It was too much fun!

    @waiting4you: I love that cake. It's so awesome! I'm glad his friends called him on it too. It was hard for my husband to connect with the idea of having a girl at first too. He was disappointing when he found out that H was a girl, but he came around quickly. Having a name for her helped too (her name is Hyla). But he really connected when he held her for the first time and she is such a daddy's girl. He has always said that he never wanted kids until he had her and he just adores her and now all he wants are little girls. He's convinced that this one is a girl too.

    I hope he apologizes for his behavior soon. I'm so thrilled for you guys!

    @waiting4you: congratulations on your baby girl! I'm sorry DH's reaction was less than stellar. I hope the two of you can talk about this openly on your long car ride. Picking out a name will be great for the two of you. There is nothing quite like seeing a dad bond with his little girl. My DH and our DD are the best of friends. Once your little girl arrives he'll see how amazing it is to have a little girl. I hope he can apologize to you though for his behavior. The party looks and sounds like a lot of work!! The cake is hilarious.

    @TFrances: congrats on your boy! DH is convinced we are having another boy. I am not so convinced.

    I missed my genetics appointment today because of nasty car accident coming home from my parents house today. It had the highway completely shut down. We were stuck in the traffic for more then two hours before we were able to get flipped around. My new appointment is at 9am. I am hoping to get something accomplished tomorrow at the appointment. Has anyone been to see the genetic folks at your doctors office? I know they will want a detailed family history and there are a lot of holes in my family because of adoptions and just plain not knowing. Hoping we can get some answers and hopefully this baby is completely and totally healthy.

    @waiting4you: Congrats!!! Loved your party pics! It looks like you threw an amazing party! Sorry your hubs had such a crappy reaction... must be the pregnancy hormones...ha! I'm so glad your friends are awesome and supportive. Sending hugs and many congrats!

    @TFrances: OMG! So fun!!! Congrats!

    @MrsRcCar: Yep, I met the geneticist when they did the Mat21 blood draw which was also the same appt as the NT scan. She basically interviewed us on our family trees and health issues. We don't have many gaps or genetic health issues in our families, but I think it was a good baseline conversation. Had any of our tests come back with abnormalities, she would have been the person we would have interacted with to learn more.

    So... my husband has been diagnosed with whooping cough. Poor thing has been sick for weeks and had multiple swabs for it which came back negative - he couldn't shake it and went for a blood test, and sure enough, yep, positive.

    They've kept him home for the week and he's on meds for it - but sheesh, we need a break around here!

    Had 14 week ultrasound today and all is well....and even at this point, the tech independently confirmed this baby is a boy! It was even clear to me! Next up, anatomy scan. I'll also have to have monthly growth scans in 3rd tri because my first two boys were peanuts, which is annoying, but I was expecting it.
