October 2016 moms!

Some days dragging, some days lots of energy. I just took my glucose screen yesterday and am kind of nervous. I got a 136, which seems borderline, but it says I took 75 g, and typically its 50 g. So I'm confused if the amount is written down wrong or what and the dr hasn't written or called, grrrrr. The only risk factor I have is I just turned 35, but my previous 2 pregnancies I was way under for the screen, and my weight gains the same, I have been exercising less ho ugh. guess it's going to be a low carb weekend into I hear something.

@cnidaria: I was just looking back on posts from this thread and saw your Lo has a two vessel cord. My second lo had that. All her other tests were normal so the ob started to relax. She came on her own 3 days prior to my due date and 1 lb heavier than my first. Best wishes.

@Maysprout: I took the bigger dose for the longer test. Strange!

@avivoca: oh gosh, I know. It's just so hard to go from non stop parenting to just... here.

@TapDancer: doing ok. Thanks love. The discharge and cramping have amped up so they're monitoring a lot. One day at a time!

@MrsRcCar: we usually have my inlaws (who are retired ) to help - but they left for a 12 day cruise just before I was admitted. They have no wifi so have no idea what's happened! Pretty much on our own until they're back. X

Oh man, we always wanted three. But after all this? I doubt very much we will go for a third. I just want this one here healthy!!

@Alexandra603: pretty much everything is on my to-do list My shower is next weekend, so once we know what we still need after that, we'll get our butts in gear and get the rest of the gear we need and finish the nursery.

@MrsRcCar: this is our first, and we're planning on one more. I'm an only child and my husband is one of three, so we're averaging it out

@Jaguar: sending positive thoughts your way!

We have our first childbirth class tonight!! It's getting real!

@jaguar: oh my! Won't they be surprised!! Is there no way to reach out to them?
@Kitkat: I am one of two and my husband is one of three. We were firmly four prior to kids then I was sick with my first two. Now I am on shots every week to prevent preterm labor with this one plus extra monitoring to ensure we are doing ok. DH is much more on with just three. I asked him to be open to one more because I have always wanted four.

    32 weeks tomorrow!

@Alexandra603: Like a few others, we pretty much have everything on our to-do list. We had our shower and so my very next to-do is write thank-yous. Then cash checks and buy stuff!

@MrsRcCar: We always said we wanted 1 or 2. That was before we knew about DH's MFI. We feel so lucky that IVF worked on the first try. I feel some sadness that we don't get to mull over having a second, but at the same time, I'm pretty confident that having one is just meant to be for us. There's something really great about appreciating this pregnancy -- even the uncomfortable parts -- as a one-time thing. And I look forward to non-TTC sex and "NTNP" and knowing there's literally a snowball's chance to ever getting pregnant.

@jaguar: Sorry things aren't completely uneventful (discharge and cramps). I'm sure they checked your discharge to see if it's amniotic fluid. We've compared notes on discharge before (sorry everyone!) and I remember we seemed to have similar situations.. Long story short, I've had it since the beginning. They decided to check mine at 30w and it was not amniotic fluid (no ferning) nor was it infection. So I guess it's just normal for me or a response to the Crinone residue that's still stuck up there! Yuck!

    apricot / 276 posts

@jaguar: I'm with you on the discharge. I've been rushed to L&D a couple times because I always seem to be leaking. But my cervix is closed and no infection. We're just doomed to have stressful pregnancies it seems. Lol

  12. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Amorini: Yeh and regular pee checks and nothing so far. I'm also back on progesterone for the cervix, so I'm not surprised everything is nasty. Ah, the joys! It's the big globby mucus that freaks me out. (Sorry, TMI everyone!)

@MrsRcCar: We've mailed them, but until they get to a port with wifi (and even remember to check email) they're pretty uncontactable!

    @Kitkat: Thanks lovely!

@jaguar: I hope everything slows down and quiets down for you!!

I feel like I will never get to relax with this pregnancy. My doctor isn't 100% sure that the shots will stop pre term labor. All we can do is hope.

@KrzyRiver: @Amorini: @jaguar: I am with you on the discharge. I generally just have a lot (thanks body), but during pregnancy, things are just very ..... moist in that region. My midwives aren't concerned thankfully.

@MrsRcCar: I'm sorry you are so stressed! I hope the shots continue to work and keep baby baking as long as possible!

After today, I have eight weeks left of work. Stick a fork in me. I'm done. I can't handle the drama anymore, my boss is annoying me (and causing the drama), and while I'm generally just coasting along knowing I'm going to peace out in a few weeks, I'm going to talk to HR about it on Monday (they reached out based on what my coworker said about the situation).

  17. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

@jaguar: Oh geesh. Globby is not reassuring, but I'm glad you and little girl are hanging in there. Love your 30 week shot. Your smile could not be bigger!. I'm sorry this isn't a breezy hospital bed rest experience. Do you think your parents will freak out and fly home when they get to port and learn what's happening? Again so sorry it's so stressful on all of you. I'm sure little girl will never hear the end of it one day!

@MrsRcCar: Sorry to hear you're on edge, too! Wishing you many boring weeks ahead! Keep cooking, baby!

@avivoca: Haha, my pre-pregnancy "situation" is similar in that department and my sister said she wore a liner her whole pregnancy both pregnancies as well, so, right. Thanks, body! The OB isn't concerned unless it changes. I imagine it would be an obvious "change" so, you know, it worries me in the back of mind a bit that I won't know if it changes and means something more serious... I'm sorry about your work stress. Any work stress beyond the typical grind would completely fry me at this point so I feel for you. My work is picking up and getting busier which is freaking me out since I have no one to delegate to. The directors and big boss know this, but they are just now coming up with.a game plan and we are generally understaffed so I'm very worried that my projects and clients will suffer. What I really should be worried about is mentally preparing myself for this baby and getting serious on my baby to-do list, but it's not like the work/family juggling act will ever be easier so I'm trying to not freak out! It will all work out and working ladies have been having babies and going on leave for years.... That's what I keep saying... It sounds like you plan to work up to 40w and not beyond -- is that right? Hang in there lady! I hope HR can deal with the issues and make it better. You and I can count down together. I'll be working up until 40w as long as baby keeps baking and I'm hoping he or she does!

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Amorini: Yep, working until 40 weeks or I have this baby, whichever comes first. We have a HUGE event happening at the end of October, so I am trying to get tons done for that (though the date keeps changing, so that adds to the stress). I worked until 39 weeks last time.

  19. KrzyRiver

    apricot / 276 posts

@avivoca: Wow, you worked until 39 weeks? My manager at work is due Sept 11th and she plans to work until her water breaks. And then there's me, I'm almost 31 weeks but I've been ready for maternity leave for weeks now. I'm wiped. Power to you!

Just checking in since I've been a bit mia lately. Things have been good just busy. And since I never answered the questions from earlier...

Hospital bag: I probably won't pack it was a while. I went into labor on my due date last time so I'm assuming it will be similar this time. Last time I regretted not bringing my boppy so I'm planning on taking it this time.

Delivery: it will likely just be Dh.

Siblings: they'll meet at the hospital. I bought an American girl bitty baby doll for dd to be a present from the new baby and can't wait to give it to her. I do want to find a cute big sister shirt, but haven't yet.

Coming home out: haven't really thought about this yet!

Breast pump: I need to actually order one! I ordered my byram last time and had no issues so I do it again. This way I can keep one at work and one at home.

Sleep: with dd we put her in her crib in her room night one, so the plan is to do it again. We just need to actually clean out the baby's room first!

Diapers: with dd, she wears cloth on weekends and in the afternoon and disposables at daycare and overnight. So again well do a mix. We don't really have enough for 2 babies so I might just have them on the new baby since it's easier dealing with newborn poop.

Photos: no plans for maternity this time. I'd love to do newborns again, I just need to look into photographers first.

As for another baby, I'd love to have a third, but Dh is going to take some convincing!

Ugh, everyone has a bad cold. It's making me even weirder than normal. Teared up watching gymnastics. I think this baby is moving lower, I'm starting to feel like im waddling. And lots of contractions. I got upset about it yesterday but they settle down, so just BH.

  24. Shantuck

    pear / 1767 posts

@KrzyRiver: I worked the day my water broke (fortunately my body waited until I got home that night!). My rationale was that it is better to spend the time with the baby after its arrival. At my job, I started getting less work towards the end because people knew I wouldn't be there to finish it up so those last few weeks were a breeze workwise!

Is anybody having bad tailbone pain? This didn't happen to me the first time around while pregnant with my son (all the pain was in my rib cage that time). Is there anything that can be done? Dr. Google suggests a special pillow for sitting but it only bothers me when I'm walking or bending over (sitting doesn't seem painful).

  26. TapDancer

    cherry / 246 posts

@Shantuck: I am praying that's the case with me - that work is easier at the end since people will know I'm about to be out. Right now it's one of my biggest stressors - I'm so anxious about being at work right until the end (and commuting) and potential starting labor while I'm there. Eeek!

  27. BUNBUN

    apricot / 430 posts

@Shantuck: YES! it's worst when I'm sitting though. After long plane trips, it's all the time. Strangely enough, stretching my hamstrings and hips really helps.

@Shantuck: yes! My butt always hurts.

  29. TapDancer

    cherry / 246 posts

@Shantuck: Yes, for sure. Especially at night after sleeping on my side with bent legs - that seems to be putting extra pressure on my tailbone, lower back and hamstrings. Oh the joys!

Yes to tailbone pain! My back/tailbone area feels like it locks up/ gets weird and hurts whenever I lay flat or sit on our squishy couch. I have to ask husband or toddler to shove me over.

Feeling huge and basically living in one super cozy jumpsuit ( http://www.polyvore.com/aerie_striped_jumpsuit/thing?id=142593310 ) that is DEFINITELY not made to wear out of the house. Don't care.

So, people keep asking me if I'm having a boy or a girl based on the way I'm carrying (random strangers on the street yelling at me) and the man who owns the cleaning company that cleans our office keeps asking me how my twins are doing.

    A) I'm going to start telling everyone that it's not actually a baby, it's a puppy.

    B) I'm going to politely ask Mr. D's wife (she works with him) to tell him to stop asking about my twins because it hurts my feelings and yes, I know I'm huge.

    cherry / 246 posts

@avivoca: Re: A) LOL! Re: B) gah. so rude. definitely let the wife know and she'll shut it down.

People are ridiculous. You look fab!

@avivoca: Oh geesh. And so begin the random comments from people on the street (or maybe it's been happening already for you.) We are THAT stage, ladies...

Having weekly biophysical scans and NSTs now (thanks, AMA!) so I get to see this chubby monkey once a week! We still think "boy." Today "he" moved his head back and we saw that there was no cord around the neck. Phew! And "he's" no longer breech (for now)!

@avivoca: Rude!!! Yes, a puppy sounds like a perfectly reasonable response.

@Amorini: That is the sweetest picture. How cute! Boy vibes huh? 😀

Ugh had a shocking night of sleep and this morning had tonnes of yellow globbysnot mucus. Freaking out a bit.

    @Amorini: what a cutie!!!
@jaguar: little lady is just keeping you on your toes! I hope it's just an isolated incident. Your little family is constantly in my thoughts.

I have been cramping off and on since yesterday. I am just trying to relax and hydrate today after a very busy weekend. Little O has been moving around like crazy today so I am sure it's just a hydration issue. I am hoping that I have hydrated and rested enough to get back at our schedule tomorrow.

@TapDancer: OMG, that looks delicious. I have been making "microwave quesadillas..." Slice cheese, fold tortilla in half, 30 seconds until done, eat. If I'm good, I'll eat fruit or vegetables with it!

@TapDancer: That looks SO GOOD RIGHT NOW. That is all.
