@TurtleDoves: Food looks awesome! So glad it was such a huge success. I too am jealous of your registry success. I hope I have half the success you did.

@Tidybee: My shower is in 2 weeks too! Yay! Only one thing has been purchased off my registry so far. But I know people tend to be last minute gift shoppers. I can't help but stalk my registry though!

@Tidybee: @mrskc: THANK YOU BOTH! And I have to tell you: only 6 items were bought off my registry on the Thursday before my shower (Saturday). So, trust me, people are last minute shoppers. Plus, some people told me they ordered my stuff and it's still shipping to me because it was an online order....and babies r us shows its been bought. So, you may not get it all in one day but you'll get it!

@TurtleDoves - that's awesome that your registry was completed!!!
@TidyBee & @MrsKC - I agree, a few things were picked off my registry early, but the majority was purchased the day before! Everyone's last minute

I scored a Pottery Barn wicker bassinet off Craigslist today - sells for $300 and I got for $85! We weren't going to do a bassinet, but then couldn't figure out what to put the baby in for when she sleeps in our room. We almost have everything! Just waiting on the glider, will hopefully be here by mid-September!

Well we had a crazy weekend, I had some symptoms that I thought was high blood pressure/preeclampsia so I called doctor. Well ended up in hospital for monitoring and am now in weekend bed rest! Please send happy thoughts on Monday that the bed rest isn't permanent and I can continue working!

@TurtleDoves: Shower pics look awesome, and glad you received your registry items!!

    @jessiejo17: Hope everything is ok!!

A friend of mine due Oct 4th had her baby yesterday! Unreal!!!! He is ok, 4lbs 3oz, don't know much beyond that. Makes it another holy crap moment though! Our babies can come anytime they please.....!

Had a productive, but lazy weekend too. Nursery is coming along and DH just finished the final coat of paint on the dresser and night stand!

I realized today that our big furniture items in the room cost us less than the little things.....so weird, but kijiji is amazing for people getting rid of real quality products that we refinish and turn into what works for us in our house....kinda cool. Like our dresser was $30, solid pine, plus refinishing and new hardware costs, but the IKEA shelves were like $60.....which one will last longer do you think? lol. Funny how things work.

When the nursery is done, I want to post about it, but like....once, I don't blog or anything (maybe I should start?) can I use somewhere like Pinterest to post about it and then provide a link to people? I want to show you ladies, but then of course have a few facebook friends see it too, not sure what platform so to speak would be best!

I still need to buy knobs/handles for the furniture, think I will try to find something silver. When the furniture is dry it will go up to the nursery, after that I really don't have much left to do.

    Finish crib bedding
Wash/dry bedding and get skirt, fitted sheet and change pad cover on!
Unpack diapers (CD) and store what we don't need yet
    Hang clothes
    Wall decor
    Lamp for nightstand

    ...I think that's it!

Beyond that, we are all set for birthing classes 4 Monday's in September, I need to pack my hospital bag, and then I would like to pick away at freezer meals and do a big overhaul/cleaning of the house, but neither of those are necessary, just bonus, so it's really kind of awesome how almost set we are. We need to install our car seat, booked appt for inspection Sept 19th. I know there is more to do I am likely forgetting and things I need to buy to get the above done (like more hangers, or things for hospital bag!) but the big 'stuff' is done, which is so, so exciting!

Acid reflux is AWFUL. I can't even laugh without it being bad. Her movement has been so dang cool/creepy the last few days, I literally could pinch whatever limb she poked out, she did it yesterday and today, so wild! I have been feeling movement for so long, but nothing comparable to the last day or so in terms of feeling/seeing limbs that definitively.

Doctor appt Thursday and will determine if I go back to work for a few weeks, or if I just begin maternity leave. I need to meet with HR as well, who I am a little bitter with so when I do meet with them, I am going to ensure it's more than one of them (as the one that I think I'd meet with is not the brightest light on tree!), and I bring someone with me to ensure everything is good/runs smoothly. Since I got put off by my doctor almost two weeks ago, HR hasn't checked in on me (I was thinking just hi.....hope you're doing ok, if you need us, this is the #....but I have heard nothing) but the 3rd party insurance people called and grilled me late last week, she said my doctor's note was too vague and I had to declare why I had been put off work. Not knowing I didn't have to tell her (learned from my boss and a few others since), I did, she said if I wasn't on bed rest or on drugs for mental illness the note wasn't enough and she would be informing my employer. I guess this company pays my employer my pay while I am off? I don't know, never done this before. My boss thinks I got someone on a bad day and essentially HR now either listens to this woman's phone interview "review" of me and the fact she doesn't think I should be covered or off, or a doctor's written note that yes is vague, but only to ensure patient confidentiality. So I'm frustrated, what if something does happen upon a return to work because of this. Work doesn't know about our previous loss before this pregnancy, me running two major events (thousands of people) for work early in the pregnancy that were mega high stress, nor the massive hemorrhage I had at month 3 that put me in hospital for a weekend that happened while I was at work, I worked my way through that stuff and never stopped for work, and now that a doctor has said it's best for me to be off I am being questioned by a 3rd party as to why I am not on drugs or bed rest and it's just a little stressful (what I need to be avoiding!) and annoying, I don't feel like HR/my employer has my back when I would go to bat for that place (always have) and work like a crazy person when I am there (maybe that's half my problem.....) Thankfully I have a great boss, and great colleagues within my office and I do love my job. Sorry for the rant/vent, guess I needed to get that out. I don't want to be bitter, but I am, just feel like I always go above and beyond and love my job and this just feels like a slap in the face back.

Ok....that's going to be a long post....I will stop!

@Beebug: Sorry for the stress at work! I hope your meeting with HR goes well
@TurtleDoves: your shower pictures look awesome! That's AMAZING that your registry is all done! Now you just get to nest
@jessiejo17: Hope everything is ok and your blood pressure goes back down!

I had a shower yesterday as well and it was so wonderful!! My friends did SUCH an amazing job--I'll have to post pics later We didn't get a ton off the registry, but they DID include something in the invitation asking people to bring their fave childhood book so baby has a nice start to his library, which I love because I love to read.

Just got home from a doctor's appt--baby is still head down and I have managed to keep my weight gain at 1lb since my last appt (of course, this was at 9am before eating breakfast, lol, so I'm sure it's more now as I'm eating my bagel!). I go for a growth u/s on Thurs--excited about that one!

@hilsy85: Thanks, I got it tested on Saturday and it was down. I am still waiting to hear from my doctor on what she wants me to do. I'm guessing I'll have an appointment this week to check and see where it's at. I'm trying to keep positive thoughts!!

Here are some shower pics They brought the crib into the living room and put all the gifts in it, which looked SO cute. They also had a onesie-making activity and little sock/washcloth cupcakes! Most adorable things ever. And then DH showed up with flowers

@TurtleDoves: @hilsy85: Your showers looked like so much fun!!! Yay!!! We have our last one on September 15th. I'm anxious so that we can finally know what we have left!

@Beebug: Fingers crossed that everything works out okay with work!

@jessiejo17: I hope that you're doing better after the weekend of bedrest. I'm really hoping that we hear a fabulous update from you today.

We got a lot accomplished this weekend. I washed and put away all of baby's clothes, organized his closet, organized the rest of our baby items (carriers, blankets, changing supplies, bottles, etc.). We are just waiting on the dresser for the nursery to be DONE. I'm loving it. His room is my favorite room in the house!

    coconut / 8681 posts

@hilsy85: I was DYING to put stuff away and we don't have LO's dresser yet either...which is why I decided to put clothes in the cube so that I could get it done lol. I'm planning on labeling the cubes some way cute to identify the sizes of clothes in each one. The bookshelves are actually rain gutter bookshelves (got the idea from Pinterest). We bought the supplies and DH put them together! They took less than an hour and I LOVE them. Love. This is the tutorial we followed. http://sunshineontheinside.blogspot.com/2012/02/charms-new-shelves.html

I'm loving the cuteness on this thread today between @Running Elley's nursery and @hilsy85's shower! I'm feeling super behind b/c our shower isn't until Sept 8, and our crib isn't scheduled to come in til the end of Sept (despite ordering it the first weekend in June!). I guess everything will make the time go by that much quicker.

We got a lot done in the nursery as well. I'm just so excited with how it's turning out. We hung up the gallery wall and I finished filling the frames. We hung up some Ikea Ribba shelves for books. And I finished making the crib skirt. It's hard to see it in the photo. I'll have to take better photos once it's all done. I want to make basket liners for the baskets on the changing table. I also want to add labels on the baskets. Mostly what we need is stuff for the baby like clothes.

Silly question, does anyone have the sorest feet in the world in the am? When I get up, oh goodness, my feet are so sore! I eventually work out of it as I move around, but man oh man!

Found hardware for furniture, I don't love it, but it'll work, funny when the hardware adds up to how much the dresser or night stand cost....defeats the point of the steal of a deal really, I tried to keep things in check.

Everyone's shower pics, and nursery pics look so, so awesome! Talented crew we have in here, and lucky, loved babies!

@mrskc: Did you "make up" the pictures all above the change table? I am struggling with wall decor, and slightly lost on what to do, but really like what you have done there

@Running Elley: I did ikea bookshelves, but saw the gutter idea too, love it! I realized where I put the shelves in proximity to the crib is a little silly though. When she is old enough she will definitely be able to crab books from in her crib, so I will have to make sure the cardboard page books are the only ones within her reach! Oops, wasn't thinking, was just trying to centre the shelves under the window.

@Beebug: I haven't experienced the sore feet thing. All the art prints I bought off Etsy. I can link the sellers if you're interested. I also framed the fabric I used in the room.

@hilsy85: awesome shower:) lovely and bright:)

@Beebug: yes my feet are insanely sore on the bottom. I think we're just way too heavy on our feet and our joints and muscles are not used to it. I hope it gets better soon after delivery. The worst part is: our home is primary tile and hard wood, so I have to wear booties or slippers all day long.

@Running Elley: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE ROOM! Bookshelves look awesome:)

  29. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@mrskc: No worries about link to Etsy sellers (thank-you though), shipping to Canada is too slow/a pain and I am looking for completion sooner (and won't lie, I'm now slightly impatient!) The fabric I could do, and perhaps get creative with something!!

@TurtleDoves: Glad it's not just me! I am just making sure I keep my feet in good shoes (my runners!) and take it easy until the pain eases a bit!

I smell like Johnson's baby lotion, and I loveee it. I was puttering in the nursery and threw some on, lol.

@Beebug: @TurtleDoves: I also have super super sore feet in the mornings--it feels like I'd been dancing around in heels the night before. It was really bad for a week or so, to the point where I was having trouble walking during the day. But recently it seems to have gotten better, thank goodness!

Just checking in: I spoke with my doctor's nurse yesterday, my doctor was out of the office. I was cleared to continue working as long as I practice bed rest on nights and weekends. Pretty much they just want me taking it easy when I'm home and really pay attention to my body and listen to it. I have a tendency to over do things so this will be difficult for me! Luckily everything so far is going good, and yesterday at work I didn't have any more lightheaded/spot seeing episodes! Hopefully that means the BP is down and staying that way!

@jessiejo17: Crossing my fingers that things continue going well so that you can keep working. Is your doctor going to do any follow up monitoring?

  36. LuLu Mom

    GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts

@mrskc: Yes it's a very good thing I can continue working, otherwise any time I take off before cuts into my time I have with the baby afterwards. My work has a very strict policy, so lee-way.

@Running Elley: Thank you! yes there will be follow up monitoring, I am also supposed to go get my BP tested every couple days just to keep an eye on it, if it's high let them know right away.

So I was reading on one of my preg apps this morning that now, at 33 weeks, my uterus is “about 5 inches above my belly button.” I am sorry but that’s a lie! I have my hand on baby’s behind right now which is literally RIGHT underneath my boob. He cannot go any higher! It would be impossible I imagine. I guess this explains my incessant heartburn. So he really can only grow out now… Anyone else feel like baby is already taking up ALL of their space?

  38. hellobeeboston

    honeydew / 7235 posts

@Running Elley: YES - i am starting to feel that way! I was reading there is less fluid & more baby which is why I can feel him CONSTANTLY moving. Which is great. But it's really distracting sometimes, and co-workers can see my stomach moving. haha OH - and i LOVE the bookshelves! so awesome!

@mrskc: your nursery is looking FABULOUS! I love the picture wall!! Where did you get all of your white frames with mattes?

@hilsy85: Love your shower pics! You look fantastic! And how sweet of your husband to bring you flowers Glad you had a good shower....

We had our shower on Sunday and it was great! We got so many fantastic gifts - got almost all of the registry except for 1 big-ish item, but got everything else! We also got some really fantastic personal gifts - like a bookshelf my aunt made full of books, and my cousins/nieces painted some paintings to hang. And some adorable clothes!

So - I'm adding two pics - one is a bump shot of me at my shower (with my husband who was semi-grubby after playing 18 holes of golf with my dad & brother in law all day).... and this is a quick little print I made this morning to add to the nursery... which also reveals the name we've finally decided on!

    @hellobeeboston: love the name James

Movement is SO different lately, harder, more poking out my skin/alien-like, it is unreal!

    I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

I feel like my belly is not getting bigger, but the baby definitely is very active, hopefully getting bigger.....in less space? Gosh knows I could be getting bigger and I just don't even notice any more, ha!

We had an eventful morning, DH got a speeding ticket! We took our dog to our local conservation area for a hike (I no longer hike, I sit on either a picnic table or in the car and read, lol) and on our way home, DH got nailed. 88km/hr in a 50km/hr zone AND his wallet was at home, so he was driving without a license. It was a good spot they were hidden, we were accelerating after a stop sign, down a hill, and he got us good. Lucky to have the ticket reduced to just 15km/hr over, minimum fine and they didn't really care he didn't have his license, looked him up I guess......SO lucky.

I then went to visit my friend who had her 1st baby (boy!) in May, it was great to visit with her.

I need to take an updated bump pic!
