@torchwood: good luck today! hoping for an amazing update later!

@gingerbebe: fatigue is back for me as well. Too many house guests last weekend and not enough sleep. Plus my new thing is waking up from 3-4 for absolutely no reason and then falling back asleep until 6. I think going back to sleep makes me feel worse!

@psw27: Oh, disjointed sleep is the worst. My REM cycles are like 3 hours long, so if I get less than that, I feel like hell all day. Its almost better to just get up, but if its 4am, what do you do!?

I'm soooo sleepy today. Hopefully its quiet at work today, its been nuts lately and I am zonked by the time I get home.

@Pancakes: Aw we still have time! Mostly it's my husband! He was really anxious to get started..I think because it made it more real for him and gave him something to do since I'm doing all the baking myself?

@gingerbebe sometimes I just lay there since my DH's alarm goes off at 4:45 anyway. Sometimes I just go ahead and get up, but mostly just watch the news and do chores around the house. It definitely leads to some long afternoons (like today!) when I am hitting a brick wall at 3:30.... YAWN!!!

Has anyone else been having a lot of Braxton Hicks? I started getting them at 21 weeks and I'm now getting 10-15 a day.

There has never been more than three in an hour, and my doctor is not concerned unless then get to be five in an hour, but still! I drink about 80 oz of water (+ another 16 if I work out) and it doesn't make a difference.

@LatteLove: not that much. Seems like a lot. Do u think it has anything to do w working out? I get them when I don't drink enough water but doesn't seem like the case for u.

  8. LatteLove

    apricot / 441 posts

@tequiero21: I mostly get them when I'm sitting at my office desk! Rarely when I'm working out. Maybe I need to get up and walk around more?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh, wow! does that make you worried?

  9. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@LatteLove: it did. I was in L&D last week for them. I'm not dilating & my FFN test was negative. But, they're painful and some make me stop in my tracks. I've been using Tylenol as needed and was given the ok to use a heating pad for 20 minutes.

They're irregular (though they weren't at the time..) and random now, so I'm trying to stay off my feet and drink extra water. It's been disgustingly hot here.

I'm mostly worried that this won't ever turn into real labor. I decided to book a section for 39w & attempt a VBAC if I go into labor on my own.

I really don't want to deal with this for another 11 weeks. It actually hurts.

  10. gingerbebe

    cantaloupe / 6131 posts

@LatteLove: Yes, I get them whenever I lay down to rest (or if I'm driving in the car for a long time and relaxing my lower back). I think for me that any stress releasing from my body causes them. Work has sucked lately, so whenever I crawl into bed after I get home, my tummy is instantly hard and clenching.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: u skipped n went right to the real deal now?! Hope it settles down n u have no issues!

@LatteLove: I'd definitely walk around a bit if u r at your desk a lot. Kinda like what they tell u to do during a long flight. Hope it gets better!

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@tequiero21: I thought I posted about it but maybe not. I was diagnosed with an irritable uterus, which is different than BH. The key difference between IU and preterm labor is progression. I am not dilating, which is good news!

Just a head's up, I'm not going to be on here much for a little while. Ultrasound showed some pretty significant growth in her ventricle size, so I'll pretty much definitely be delivering at 34 weeks. And quite apart from the worry for her and all (basically they still really can't say what the brain damage will look like till they get a shunt in and see how her brain rebounds, so we don't really know anything), I'm really mourning the fact that I'm losing a big chunk of what might be my only pregnancy. So reading about ya'll continuing is sad right now, especially once I have delivered and I'm going home and leaving her behind at the hospital. But I'll still check in some, and I might be back more frequently once everyone has delivered. Or sooner, if I need the support, who knows. But anyway, I definitely wish you all well and I'll be keeping tabs when I can.

    At least she's cute, right?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: thank goodness for not dilating! If u posted it, I definitely missed it, thought u were talking about when u were pregnant w Chloe!

@Torchwood: she's beautiful! Sorry to hear about increase in ventricle size. I'm really hoping it seems worse than it actually is... U know how they overestimate weight sometimes? Hugs! We are here for u if u need us! Your lo is in my thoughts n prayers.

@LatteLove: I've been getting a ton this week. I have random days where I feel like I'm growing a lot and I feel like this triggers them. This week he has been very active and I think that also triggers them. It stresses me out but I try to just move around or chug more water.

@mrs. jump rope: Ah that is crazy you are having full on contractions! How many weeks are you now? Hopefully you don't dilate and everything calms down a bit.

@psw27: Ugh, the last two days I've been wide awake at 5am. One day I finally just got up a little before 6am after playing with my phone and felt fine all day (but tired at like 10pm), today I fell back asleep and woke up groggy and dying at 7am and got to work late.

@torchwood: She's gorgeous. I'm sorry this has been so hard - come back whenever you need encouragement.

    Hi Ladies!

I can't believe I started this thread 6 months ago... and then disappeared! Well, I'm back and hoping to enjoy the last 10+ weeks with you, if you'll have me

After the initial pregnancy excitement, I stopped reading pregnancy books and doing pregnancy related social media. It was nerve wrecking not really feeling very pregnant until 4.5-5 months in. And now I'm like wow, I'm huge!

Anyways, there's no way I can catch up on 6 months of posts but will be checking in every once in a while here on out.

And she is gorgeous, honestly. 34 weeks is soon and scary, but I can't wait to "meet" her. xoxoxoxo

We're back from our holiday in Spain, had a lovely week with nice weather and good food. Holidays with a very stubborn 2 year old are definitely different though, we've been on vacations before but going with a 1 year old is a different (easier) ball game to a 2 year old. I'm really glad we went and had a week off to enjoy some time as a family, and DH and I managed to get a few evenings on the balcony with a glass of wine after DS passed out.

Otherwise all's well with the pregnancy, have my mini GTT test on Monday but all I have to do is fast for 1 hour, drink a bottle of Lucozade and then have blood drawn 1 hour later so doesn't sound too bad. I did manage to slip whilst on vacation and now my right hip is killing me, feel like an old lady who can't get up after I've been sitting down for too long! Pregnancy is so glamorous...

Catching up on everyone's updates now.

@London Mama: glad your trip was great!

Our maternity photos are tonight. It's 92736383) degrees outside and the humidity is ridiculous. Combined with my curly, frizzy hair this should be fun LOL. My neighbor is a hair stylist so she is doing my hair, or else id look like Monica from friends.

I hope I don't have boob sweat in my pics.

  32. gingerbebe

    cantaloupe / 6131 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: LOLz on boob sweat. Just put C front and center, she will cover the boob sweat and amp up the cuteness factor so much no one will care about your hair!

@London Mama: I Spain so much. Sounds amazing.

Just wanted to come by and say "hewoooooo hoomans." I have my SECOND 1 hour glucose test this week, plus our 28 week scan to see if my placenta has moved or if its still (as DH describes it), a "manhole cover." And I also have my regular OB appointment too! So we'll be spending a lot of time at the medical offices this week.

Batch cooking for the freezer is still going strong. We re-signed our lease finally and DH taught his last class on Saturday for the school year, so this next weekend will be time to start putting the crib together and figuring out our room arrangement. Anything we don't finish this weekend we'll do over 4th of July weekend since we're not going anywhere. So hopefully we'll be locked and loaded in the next 2 weeks since OMG I could be having this baby in less than 8 weeks!!

BIL had his baby on Saturday, so we've got our first nephew!! He was born after 30 hours of labor. SIL dilated well but pushed for hours and hours because he was sunny-side up and wouldn't flip! The doctor wanted her to get a C-section bc she was so tired but she insisted she could do it and pushed him out at last. Luckily he was only 6.6lbs so she could do it - the doctor said if he was any bigger they would have gone with the C-section. He looks EXACTLY like my BIL - all pale white skin and GINGER hair! So cute.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Death to humidity!! Seriously, the amount of time I spend on my hair trying to combat the humidity is shameful. I'm sure your pictures will turn out great! You'll have to share some.. We aren't doing maternity photos so I'll just have to live vicariously through those of you that do!

@gingerbebe: Ah, we have kind of the same schedule! Thursday I also have my 1 hour glucose test, my ultrasound to check on the placenta previa, and my regular 28 week appointment. Craziness. So jealous of the new baby! Can't wait to get some baby snuggles in!

  34. Pancakes

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@LondonMama: Glad to hear you had a great trip! I would looove to go back to Spain!

@gingerbebe: @littlebit: I also have my 1-hour glucose test + 28 week appt on Thursday! However, my doctor decided that I should wait on having another ultrasound to check on my placenta previa. She was like, "If it hasn't moved, all we're going to do is check it again, and then keep checking it, so you might as well wait until 36 weeks." Mine is marginal though, so that probably makes a difference. Oh well. I'm actually kind of jealous that you'll get to peek at your LOs this week!

And, I'm having a little pity party at the moment because DH is not on board with spending $150 on the PBK blackout curtains I want for the nursery...I know it's totally ridiculous and childish of me. Anyone have any other good sources for reasonably priced blackout curtains? I can't sew, so making my own is not an option.

@London Mama: I've always wanted to visit Spain! Last year, it was between there and Italy, we ended up going to Italy. One day! Where did u go? I can imagine how tough it is with one two year old, try two! So I jumped at the chance when my mil suggested we go sans kids!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oooh post pics! I'm sure it'll come out fabulously! But I hear u on humidity! So humid here too!

@gingerbebe: congrats on nephew! So exciting!!!

@Pancakes: I got like $20 blackout curtains at target or somewhere. Works fine!

  37. gingerbebe

    cantaloupe / 6131 posts

@Pancakes: We have ones from Target in one room and they work fine. I'm looking for some longer ones for baby and it looks like Overstock.com has a good selection, although I haven't gotten any yet. Either way, its not like blackout curtains are CHEAP per se - even our Target ones were $20 a panel and we needed 2. The extra long ones I need look like they will be something like $90 a pair anyway.

Here is my omfg story for photos tonight.

My neighbor was a hair stylist but is a SAHM now. She offered to do my hair for the pics tonight and I took her up on the offer. Our photos were at 6 and I had to leave by 4:45 to pick up DH and get to the park on time.

She told me to come over at 1, so I took my time showering and doing chores this morning. I figured I had a few hours after my hair was curled to clean up and get dressed, do my makeup, etc.

Guys. I love her. I do. But it took her from 1:15-2:30 to flat iron my hair. Then it took until 4:45 to curl it. It got to the point where I told her I HAD to go home and put on makeup and get dressed. So she came HERE.to finish my hair while I got ready.

She's done my hair before. It took like 25 minutes. Idk what the deal was today. She was distracted. She burnt my ear twice and dropped the curling iron on my arm, so I've got a burn mark on my upper right arm.

Livid. I was so livid. My house is a complete disaster because I thought I'd have time to clean up this afternoon. I slapped makeup on my face in 10 minutes and left the house at 5:15, so I got to the park a bit late. Now it's almost 9 and we just got home. I still have to do bedtime and clean up.

But the photos were fun. I love our ohotograoher. I have a sneak of Chloe but I am not ready to share. You have to wait.

@Tequiero21: wow, that looks amazing! We went to Mallorca, one of the Balearic islands. I'd love to go back and next time rent a villa and a car and explore the whole island.

Ladies, I need some perspective as I suspect I might be going off the rails. Background: I'm going to get a double stroller to replace our Bugaboo chameleon, I'll be doing a lot of walking and will definitely need somewhere for DS to sit and be strapped in for trips to the store, bank etc. The problem is that our house has a front porch where the door isn't aligned with the front door of the house, ie the two doors aren't completely straight in front of each other but the porch door is more to the left. It's not a problem with a single stroller but the double is wider so won't fit. Am I being unreasonable to get DH to tear down the front porch so the stroller will fit through the door? It seems the only logical thing to do to me but it might just be the hormones talking...
