@tlcbaby: So glad your ultrasound went well! Now you can announce on your trip?
What is everyone eating these days? I need some new food ideas! All that I want this week is Greek salad and pretzels. I've already been through the Mac n cheese and pizza phase. Would really love to find a few more things I can stomach.

@maddyz: @avivoca: @tlcbaby: @Jasmum: @skipra: thank you ladies! we are actually trying to get our apartment on the market so there has been a lot of cleaning and organizing, which is a great way to focus on something other than what's going on. i just got a call from my doctor that i need to go on a progesterone suppository because my levels are "in the grey zone." so more not knowing, but at least there's some action i can take before the next us on tuesday.

@skipra: Yes, we will tell them in the morning.
I've been into scrambled eggs, American cheese, Perfect Bars and berries. It's so random right now.

@skipra: I've been eating a lot of garlic bread and crackers. AMAZING. I'm off eggs this week, but I ate them every day last week. It's so horrible too, but I have at least one pop a day right now. The bubbles settle my stomach and I need the caffeine to stay awake at work.

@avivoca: @tlcbaby: good idea about eggs! Thanks. Just had some and will see how they settle. Garlic bread sounds amazing too!

I came home to a house reeking of fish and nearly tossed my cookies. My husband is so annoyed I didn't want fish. Ugh. Pregnancy and lent are not a good combo.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Applesandbananas: gross! I have been kind of craving some fish n chips but after the smell of fish last time we went out...no way! BTW I'm not Catholic and always wondered about the fish/Lent thing. Why is fish OK if meat is not? Fish is meat, right? Sorry totally off topic!
pomegranate / 3845 posts
@skipra: honestly, I don't really get it either. I'm not a cradle Catholic, I converted as an adult and when I converted, there really wasn't much emphasis placed on the giving up "meat" aspect of lent or the giving up of anything else, it was more presented as a time of reflection and an opportunity to get closer to God, and that "giving up" stuff was supposed to help you get closer to God. They'd suggested things like giving up Facebook, which I can see how that would give you more opportunity to pray. DH was raised Catholic, in a different part of the country, and is much more conservative. The belief is the fish isn't meat, but I've always found that odd!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Applesandbananas: That's really neat! I'm not Catholic but I do love a good fish fry this time of year. Unfortunately, I don't think I could handle the smell of that mug fish being fried at once right now.
I'm back on the couch today. I went to bed at 8:30 last night and was up for hours in the middle of the night. I can't wait until this insomnia goes away.

@squeaks: Glad there is something you can do in the meantime. I hope the next U/S next week.
@tlcbaby: Glad your U/S went well! Are you going on vacation next week? Have so much fun!!
@Applesandbananas: Grosss.... just thinking about fish smell makes me want to hurl. Ughhhhh.

@avivoca: You poor thing! Pregnancy insomnia is no fun especially in the first tri.

So DH asked if I wanted to go away for a weekend in late May by ourselves. He was thinking the Caribbean but as we know, due to Zika, that's probably not a good idea. If you could go somewhere for a long weekend in the US, where would you go? We're in New England so we probably don't want to go to the West Coast if we can help it.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: Ooh, I'd go to the Carolinas or Georgia! I've always wanted to go to Savannah/Tybee Island. And thanks for the commiseration. I was able to stay in bed all night last night. I'm keeping a water bottle by the bed from now on so I can wet my throat when I need to and I'm trying to eat a healthy snack before bed so I don't wake up hungry.

@MrsKoala: Sea Island, GA. We go on our anniversary and it is incredible. Charleston, SC is a great option too.

Since I'm a lot more anxious this time, we are doing an elective ultrasound next Saturday to see/hear the heartbeat. Theoretically, I don't have any reason to believe that there is anything wrong, but I just need that reassurance without having to go to the ER again (was sent to the ER at 9 weeks with H for abdominal pain to rule out ectopic).

@MrsKoala: I've always wanted to go to the outer banks. I've also heard Destin, FL on the Panhandle is nice. Not sure if you're willing to venture that far south though. We are thinking about going to Denver in April/May too. It's not really a relaxing beachy type vacation place but it's gorgeous in the mountains. Where are you in New England? We also love driving up to Vermont and Montreal in May.
@avivoca: I hope the u/s goes well! It is nerve wracking not actually seeing proof that you're pregnant!

I had a total "You know you're pregnant when..." moment this morning. LO2 woke up in the middle of the night so DH took him into bed and I went into the guest room because I am nervous sleeping next to him after taking Unisom. Of course just that caused me to start vomiting again so DH grabbed me a cup of pretzels to settle my stomach. Waking up this morning with a cup of pretzels by my head to stop the puking and alcohol had nothing to do with it...total pregnancy moment.
But seriously are any of you starting to feel even a little better yet? I feel like I'm better during the day but worse from 4pm on.

Destin Fl is nice. I grew up going there, but it is far too crowded for my taste. I prefer the Atlantic coast even though the beaches aren't as pretty as the Gulf. But if you don't mind crowds it's totally gorgeous. Lots of options of where to stay which is great.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@skipra: I'm in CT. I thought about going up to Maine or Montreal but then realized I could probably go to those places anytime since they are not a bad drive away. I thought about Florida but my mom (Tampa) and my FIL (near Boca Raton) live there on opposite corners and I don't want them getting upset that we didn't visit. I love Denver but last time I was there I got altitude sickness. Don't want to risk that. I guess I probably need to figure out whether I want beachy/relaxing or scenic/relaxing?
@mrsjd: Good thought! I've never been to Charleston or the Georgia coast.
@avivoca: Ooooh never been to Savannah either. I'm writing these down.

@skipra: Still not feeling any better. I hope the rest of you are, though.

@MrsKoala: let me know if you decide Charleston and I'll give specific recommendations. Great foodie city and historic. Easy to walk the city. I think it would be a good pregnant trip.
Hope you get to feeling better. My fatigue is a little rough (hard to stay up past 9:30) but otherwise I've been super blessed because the nausea has died down a lot.

I had my first ultrasound today - thankfully everything looks good! Heartbeat is 172 beats per minute. It was a stressful morning though, they couldn't find the heartbeat on Doppler and so I had to be sent for an urgent ultrasound and the soonest they could get me in was 2 hours later. I was a hot mess, So nervous and scared. I was not prepared for the idea that they might now be able to hear the heartbeat via Doppler! Just an FYI for anyone else going in! I am 10 weeks 2 days. Good luck everyone!

@avivoca: and @tlcbaby: are out there running and competing and I'm over here trying not to pass out in aisle four of the grocery store lol. I envy your energy! I'm feeling so beat down

@avivoca: omg I know, it's sooo cold out! LO was trying to convince me it wasn't cold and he didn't need a jacket. 🙄

@lmay820: wow that sounds so scary! Glad everything looked good on the u/s!
@Applesandbananas: I agree! They make the rest of us look bad

@MrsKoala: have you been to the Outer Banks? The beaches are so pretty and it isn't too touristy.

@Applesandbananas: Honestly, I feel like crap most of the time, but if I can drag myself to the gym I feel good during my workout. Even just going for a walk helps me, but it usually comes back after.

@MrsKoala: We are at Disney now! The weirdest thing is my morning sickness has been almost nonexistent while we are here! Still a lot of bloating and indigestion, but I haven't been nauseous really. Disney Magic!
pomegranate / 3845 posts
@tlcbaby: I hope you and LO are enjoying Disney! Maybe I need to get moving more!
How was your announcement?

@tlcbaby: Disney is the cure to nausea! I'm so glad it went away so you can fully enjoy your time at Disney!

So I think we might do Chicago. We've never been and I know they have some great restaurants there and we are huge baseball fans so the opportunity to go to Wrigley seemed perfect. We already have some beach trips planned over the summer so we don't necessarily need to do the beachy thing. I'm excited because I love to eat and I'm already looking up restaurants in Yelp!

Man oh man, I really hope the second trimester brings relief. I'm almost 10w and sooooo tired still. I have a bad cold too and a cough that makes me want to throw up c'mon second tri..

@Applesandbananas: I'm trying to look at like this: 10 weeks equals 1/4 of pregnancy so hey, we're 25% done already!

Pulled out the maternity pants today.... feels so much better then trying to stuff into my normal ones. But it also feels super early.
Also, still just barely hanging in there... I wish I could eat and enjoy it.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@maddyz: I'm totally wearing my maternity jeans. My regular ones are so tight and they unzip themselves as I walk so I'm done with them. And yep, I'm also barely making it.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@MrsKoala: Chicago sounds fun! I've only been for a short work trip and wished I could've explored more. BTW...their pizza has NOTHING on CT pizza!
@maddyz: I think I've officially given up on my skinny jeans. I wore them on Saturday and they were so uncomfortable. I still have one pair I can wear comfortably and hoping that lasts because I am trying to wait until the beginning of March to tell friends and (hopefully) get some of my clothes back. I would totally be wearing some if I had them though!
@Applesandbananas: Hope you feel better soon! I had back to back colds in January. It is miserable. Like, how much more exhausted could you possibly get, right?
ETA: We told my parents today! They both seemed excited but it really had to sink in a few minutes first. They were totally NOT expecting it!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@skipra: Wait, like CT pizza is better??? Exciting that you told your parents! We spilled the beans last week to the family and everyone was like I KNEW IT... and I was like oh really? How? and then they said they thought something was up at Christmas. Except I wasn't pregnant at Christmas... and I was drinking... a lot.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@MrsKoala: just my preference but I like the Pepe style thin crust so much better.
