@Autumnmama79: I did a lot of long walks, took prenatal yoga at a studio, and did some prenatal strength workouts on YouTube. I am going to be starting up a pregnancy fitness class on March 19th, it's 90 mins once a week. I'm eager for warmer weather so I can get outside for walks! I feel like a bump on a log lately.

Been silent unable to stop the nonstop worry over the carrier test results. But finally got them back today (after calling the lab every day this week) and have such relief to learn that my husband is not a carrier and therefore our two kids plus this baby boy onboard cannot be affected. Whew!!! Crazy how much love can come with such worry.
Had my NT scan last week and all looked good although I’m only now able to appreciate just how cute he was wiggling up on that screen.
Hope everyone is doing well. Happy weekend!

@SouthernGothamCityMama: Oh, that's great news! I'm so glad to hear it. And even though it caused worry, I'm glad you know about yourself so your kids could get tested one day to see if they're carriers too.

@JennyPenny: @IRunForFun: I like those ideas! Am considering a prenatal yoga class starting in April - I'll feel better by then right? Right?!
@SouthernGothamCityMama: What great news! Happy start to the weekend

How is everyone doing this weekend? Any appointment updates?
I’m on the west coast for a few weeks and just hit my second trimester. I’m so glad to be feeling better and able to eat normal food.

@youboots: that’s cool, are you there for work or fun?
My weekend is going well. Today is the first warm dry day in ages so it feels really nice. I’m officially kicking off a “be healthier” plan on Monday I also have my NT scan on Thurs. Assuming that goes well we’ll tell work.

Happy Monday! So I just got in the office and my work BFF (who is nearing the 3rd tri herself) dropped off her at home doppler for me to borrow. Now its just sitting in my office and I have to restrain myself from giving it a try....eeek!
Update: I caved and I found the heartbeat! Yay

@JennyPenny: congrats! Best sound ever.
I just got back from the ER. Woke up this morning with bleeding. After a long wait I had an ultrasound and baby is alive with good heartbeat. However, they also found two small SCH’s. Which is not great news and like everything else in early pregnancy, there’s nothing to do but wait and see... will see my OB on Thursday for follow up.

@Autumnmama79: I’m so sorry - that sounds really scary. I’m glad baby is doing well though. I don’t have any personal experience with SCH but I feel like I’ve seen it mentioned a lot on the boards with no real complications. I hope that’s the case for you too.

@Autumnmama79: I'm sorry, that's so scary. FWIW I know a lot of people have had SCH's that have resolved themselves without issue. Hopefully the fact that they're small is good, too.

I have a regular appointment tomorrow and I'm a little bit anxious because I've been feeling "off" lately and I thought I'd been feeling movement for a while and now I'm not. Just hoping they can find the heartbeat right away! I also have to bring DD with me which kind of stinks because I have a lot of questions for the midwife, and I know I'll feel rushed with a toddler there.

@JennyPenny: @IRunForFun: thank you. Hearing that and reading through old threads here is really keeping my spirits up.
@IRunForFun: I hope your appt goes well tomorrow!

Appointment was good this morning! My weight gain wasn't as scary as I thought, she found the baby's heartbeat right away, and I'll be starting a liquid iron supplement.
I'm also pretttttty sure I felt some baby thumps this morning when I was laying sort of on my belly.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@IRunForFun: Aww sounds like a great appointment! I keep convincing myself I feel movement but for me it's too early I'm sure. I just get this "unsettled" feeling every now and then that I wonder if it's baby.

I’m currently at my MFM office waiting for my NT scan. Normally I would be super nervous but having the Doppler at home has given me so much reassurance. Last night we also bought some new car seats - Diono Radians so we can do 3 across. They were a really good deal so we jumped on it

Unfortunately my appointment did not go well. There is a lot of fluid around the baby’s neck and spine that is likely a chromosomal abnormality or heart defect. They didn’t give me very good chances for a positive outcome We had a cvs immediately after and should have results tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm back at work today just waiting for a phone call. We should hear about the big genetic issues (T 13, 18, 21) this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest. They gave us a 50% of a chromosomal abnormality. If we clear that it's still a long road to check for heart defects and other issues but our chances of a positive outcome go up significantly. My work BFF has a baby shower today at lunch so hopefully that'll be a good occupation and not too hard.

@JennyPenny: I've been thinking of you . What a journey you've been suddenly thrust on. I'm hoping you get results quickly and praying they are better than expected. Did they line you up with a genetic counsellor right away?
nectarine / 2460 posts
@Autumnmama79: Yep, my practice has you do the NT scan at MFM and you meet with a genetic counselor even before you start that test. So when we found problems on the ultrasound we met with her again and did the CVS asap in the same office. They really handled it very nicely. I've read a lot of stories online of people having to wait for referrals and things so I'm glad we were able to move through so quickly.

@JennyPenny: That is really nice that they are so organized like that. Takes away the frustration of running around to different places and specialists.

Unfortunately we got news last night that the baby has trisomy 21. Because of the extra fluid as well there are also likely heart defects and organ damage or failure. We will likely not continue the pregnancy but haven’t made any firm plans yet. We’re just so devastated and raw still.

@JennyPenny: oh my goodness. What devastating news to receive. I’m so very sorry, my heart goes out to you and I’m here for support . hugs

Thanks so much everyone for your support. This community really means so much to me.
@Autumnmama79: I'm doing okay today. The grief comes and goes. It helps me to stay busy. We had another appointment this morning to further discuss things and we found out that our baby is a boy. It sounds like we will have our appointment to terminate the pregnancy next week. Every doctor we've talked to has reiterated that our son is unlikely to survive. Unfortunately there is a broad range of time frames when babies with his conditions pass and everything gets more complicated the longer we wait so they seem to agree with our decision to move forward sooner rather than later. We've told our parents and our 4 year old and some close friends but will wait until afterwards to tell our siblings and everyone else who knows.

@JennyPenny: what a heavy load you are carrying. Hopefully it provides some reassurance that the doctors are so certain of the prognosis. Things seem to be happening quickly and I pray that means a sooner recovery and healing. Much love to you

I have an appt scheduled for Mon morning. I just barely made the cut off for being able to have it "in the clinic" instead of "in the OR" which they said makes it a much simpler and less expensive procedure. The sadness comes in waves but having it scheduled I think is a relief. I actually slept well for the first time last night and I don't know what I dreamed but when I woke up I thought I was pregnant with a future baby and had gotten confirmation that they were healthy. I really hope that everyone in this group continues on with uneventful pregnancies and I'll be following along in support. If anyone wants I can send the excel sheet I made to generate the due date list.

@JennyPenny: it’s a small blessing that is can be done in the clinic and I’m glad for that little bit of relief and comfort that having it scheduled and there brings you. I’m just so sorry that you’re going through this sad and sucky situation.

@Autumnmama79: I'm healing a bit each day it feels like. I went all of Wednesday without crying. Yesterday was a bit harder because I rescinded my daycare application and deleted my pregnancy apps and things like that. We had our state mandated 72 hour consent procedure and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. They just let us know about all the services the state provides for financial, medical, social support if you choose to carry the fetus to term. I can see that being useful information to some women considering terminating but in my case it really doesn't matter. So right now we have all the steps done and there's nothing to do but wait. For both the appointment and the full karyotyping results to come in so we can have an estimate of how likely it is to happen again. As long as they're good we plan on starting to TTC again as soon as the doctors clear us. It feels so weird to say but we both feel that's what we'll need to keep moving forward.

@JennyPenny: I’m glad to hear the healing has begun. I admire your attitude through all this and appreciate you sharing your experiences. So good to begin thinking about the future and moving forward etc. big hugs to you and hoping the weekend goes by quickly so Monday can come and go as well.

@IRunForFun: @SouthernGothamCityMama: @youboots: @Jellyfish: how are you mamas doing?! I’m past 12 weeks now and still have the strong all day morning sickness and food aversions. Am taking the diclectin which helps so much. Also waiting for NIPT results...
honeydew / 7622 posts
@Autumnmama79: my morning sickness/nausea was gone at 11/12 weeks right when I got pneumonia. I still have some aversions but nothing terrible. My guess is my weight is up to where it was before the morning sickness.
My bloodwork came back good and I’ll be 15w on Sunday. I’m at a family reunion this weekend and go back home on Tuesday after 3 weeks away. Looking forward to being home and feeling significantly better and cooking again.
We have an elective ultrasound on Monday to find out the sex (not guaranteed to be sure until 17 weeks) so I’m hoping baby will be at a good angle since we are taking MIL so she will feel involved. Wednesday I have an appointment with my midwife.
