@Adira: no not really but then we haven't been solo (as in only 1 parent) with all 4 yet. Tonight will be the first time for me for only an 1-1.5h though.
Congratulations on the weight loss! I haven't weighed myself yet but I don't think there is too much pregnancy weight left. I actually have the opposite problem of @Smurfette: I have a hard time eating enough calorie wise. But nursing two probably just causes me to really need a lot of calories. I usually end up really hungry once the older two are in bed and I may or may not have eaten a whole bar of chocolate a couple of times.

@Smurfette: Yeah, I wasnt able to lose anything until I started Atkins, which isn't no carbs, but pretty close. It's worked amazing for me though! I lost 30 lbs in 16 weeks.

@Pumuckl: hahaha, I'm a little jealous of your weight loss. Nursing helps a lot of people drop the weight, but it never helped me!

@Adira: yeah I am lucky that I pretty much only gain baby, placenta and waters plus blood volume. I am not skinny though- I wear a size 10

@Pumuckl: So happy to hear everyone is home and doing well! How did it go solo parenting all four? Having babies on a routine is a small perk of the NICU that I had never considered!

@Adira: Congratulations! You must feel great! And thanks for sharing your tips! I still have 12 pounds to lose and I'm starting to get desperate. I joined a new bootcamp fitness center this week which I really like because the classes are only 30 minutes. 30 minutes feels manageable, although it's still so hard to find time to go. Not sure what my diet plan will be yet. Maybe I should give Atkins a try too!

I can't believe our kiddos are starting to turn four this month! It seriously goes by so fast!

@QueensBee: Thank you!! Yes, I'm starting to feel fantastic! Plus I've recently bought a couple cute new dresses and some swim suits in preparation for the cruise we're going on, and I feel great! I definitely still have some weight to lose (I'd love to lose another 20!), but having shed these past 30 lbs and gotten back to my pre-pregnancy weight is huge for me and my confidence! Good luck to you!!

@QueensBee: Yes, it worked out well. DH was great and actually prepared dinner so I just had to finish feeding the little two before I had dinner with the older two. Then I got lucky that the twins slept peacefully and I was able to get the extremely overtired J to bed really early which freed up some much craved 1:1 time for B. So overall it worked out well.

Juggling 4 of which 3 still sleep/nap is interesting though. It was 3pm until we managed to leave the house on Sunday I'm just glad B doesn't nap anymore. Unfortunately J hardly ever naps in the stroller anymore so on the go naps aren't happening. We sometimes let her skip the nap but then she becomes a nightmare behavior wise. Oh well times will change...

@Pumuckl: Sounds like you guys are figuring out being a family of six. I'm sure getting everyone out the house at once will get easier. I'm impressed you did it, I struggle to get one out most mornings.

We had a long weekend for family day here this past weekend. MIL came for a few days and Isaac had a blast. It was nice for us to do what we wanted for a couple day. She did all the cooking and kept Isaac entertained as well as getting up with him in the morning. It was hard to go back to our regular routine today.

@ALV91711: grandma care is the best. My mom is still here most of the week and helping out. She does daycare drop-off and pick-up and does all the cooking and our wash. I basically just have to take care of the twins. So nice and so amazing of her to spend all her time here.

@Adira: It was good. There are some things that drive me nuts (and DH too!) but it was only three days and we haven't seen her in almost a year so I just let it go and enjoyed.

@Pumuckl: That is awesome that your mom is helping so much. A good opportunity to focus on the babies. How are the big kids doing with the twins?

  12. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Except that Isaac has been having nightmares all week after MIL showed him King Kong videos. DH was pretty mad and let her know but she still did it again because he asked. Now we are all tired and cranky!

@ALV91711: OMG, why would she think that's appropriate to show a child that young????

@ALV91711: Oh man, I might lose my cool over that one. What a ridiculous thing to show a three year old!!!!

  15. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: @Mrs. Blue: Ya, I still don't know what she was thinking. He had a few nights of nightmares after that, it was not fun.

And now he has another nasty cold. This winter has been rough. He's had something every 3-4 weeks and we've had to stay home with him. I can't wait for this cold season to be done.

@ALV91711: This winter has been especially brutal for colds! My kids have been sick nonstop! It sucks!

@ALV91711: @Mrs. Blue: @Adira: so so ready for spring. The kids weren't overly sick just constant runny noses. Now the twins and I have caught their latest one too.

Yikes on the king kong induced nightmares... hope it'll be over soon.

Birthday time. I know some of the kiddos have had there birthdays already. What are everyone's birthday plans or what did you do?

We have invited some daycare friends over in a couple weeks for a two hour party. Isaac would like a superhero party. Besides writing on the invited I have done zero planning. My mom is also coming out for a few days.

  21. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@ALV91711: No big plans here, he'll get to invite about 6 kids of his choice and we'll have them and a parent over on Sunday afternoon. There's no way we can supervise 10 kids with 2 being newborns.

B has grown up so much in the last month! Not physically but in his behavior. He's always been a great big brother but he is always helping and will gladly take on responsibilities like helping J. Yesterday we were at the zoo and we had to feed the twins with some pumped milk. The older two got bored after finishing their snack and we let them run around and B watched J and helped her on the stairs etc. So proud of him 💕

@ALV91711: it is Sat and she is having a bowling party. Today is the RSVP deadline and I still haven't heard from like 7 kids. Urg! I can't believe she is going to be 4! We are going today to Toys R Us and look at bikes to get her. We are skipping the family party this year. So many people to feed, and my family drinks a lot of beer, need to save money(hospital bills and no paycheck for 6 weeks) and I know she would rather have a friend party.

  23. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Pumuckl: That will be a good party. Sounds like B is such a great big brother. Makes it nice for you that he is willing to help out.

@Smurfette: I hope you hear back from those kids. A bowling party sounds like fun. And easy with no mess in your house. We are going to get Isaac a bike too.

I was hoping the weather would start to get nice and we could let them run around outside, but it is looking like it will be cold and snowy still.

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@ALV91711: @Smurfette: B is getting a bike for his birthday too! He normally does really well on his balance bike so I hope it'll be a smooth transition. Today he took a really bad fall though and his nose is really badly scratched (it is quite the wound) and bruised. J tumbled too and refused to ride on so we had two bikes, one child and a double stroller to handle *oi*. B was a trooper though and walked back to the car...

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Pumuckl: I'm not convinced she is going to like it. She doesn't like the balance bike friends gave us. Then doesn't petal for long on her tricycle. But DH really wants to get her one. One problem is our neighborhood is really hilly so not a good place to practice.

L's party was yesterday. It was a bowling party too and he had fun. My MIL fell on the lane and broke her arm so that sucked. But otherwise it went off fine. He had 18 friends there and his cousins. He has a little bike with training wheels and we were going to upgrade to a bigger bike without training wheels and my brother gave us a hand me down so we aren't buying a big gift. The party was his gift. He got a million presents so he doesn't care.

  27. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Smurfette: same here, we always have to take the kids someplace so they can ride their balance bikes. The only place here's our shared drive way but after a long day at daycare that will usually do.

@travellingbee: bummer about your MIL, that sounds really painful. Glad L had fun at his party!

@ALV91711: We had Xander's birthday a couple weekends ago. I feel like I probably should've invited his daycare friends, but we kept it just family like usual. It was Paw Patrol themed!

I love hearing about the all the parties!

P's is next Saturday. I invited 20 kids and every single one is coming, plus one family told me they are bringing the younger brother too, so 21 kids. I was hoping to keep it around 15 but oh well, I guess I invited too many! I'm taking an Advil beforehand and I'll know better for next year.

We are having ours at a local kids' gym facility. I think they run around and play on the mats for 30 minutes, do structured activities led by a teacher for 20 minutes, and then eat pizza and cake for 20 minutes.

We're not really having a theme- I just bought brightly colored party stuff. I got the kids cute super hero capes and masks off Etsy as the party favors.

Overall, I'm excited for it but also eager for it to be over!

@Pumuckl: B sounds like such an awesome big brother! That's so sweet.

@travellingbee: Yikes, poor MIL! Glad everything else went well and the birthday boy stayed healthy!

@Smurfette: We are also getting Pete a bike for his birthday, and live in a hilly neighborhood. I am worried that he won't like it and won't use it, or will love it and go speeding around the neighborhood! Let me know how it goes with R!

@Adira: I think you were smart to skip school friends. I invited all 9 kids from his class and now I'm regretting it a bit! Hopefully it won't be too crowded/crazy.

@travellingbee: Siunds like a fun party. Hope your MIL is doing ok.

@Smurfette: We are lucky that we live in a flat cul de sac and lots of walking paths right behind our house that are fairly flat. Did you get all your rsvp's?

@Adira: a paw patrol party sounds like fun. I'm sure he had a good time with just the family. Honestly if we lived closer to family I wouldn't invite daycare friends. But with no one nearby it is what we are doing.

@QueensBee: Wow! That is a lot of kids. Sounds like it will be a fun party though.

Yesterday we went and ordered a cake and he picked captain America. That really surprised me but he is really happy about it.

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: we invited 17 and so far only 15 are coming. But we still haven't heard from 3 kids in her class. Luckily the bowling alley provides everything so we didn't even do a theme. She picked a cake with balloons on it from Costco. Win win for me. Cheap!
@ALV91711: no! I asked her teacher yesterday to ask the three parents we haven't heard from. I texted the other 3 I hadn't heard from.

One mom rsvp'd today that her daughter who was invited, the mom, dad and little brother will be coming to Isaac's party. I didn't even know what to say!

Have any of you had this happen?

  36. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: most of the little siblings come to bday parties around here. I don't count then for the activity but ar least plan for food.

  37. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@ALV91711: same as @Smurfette: it's normal here for little siblings to attend until the kids are like 5ish when it is without parents. That's one of the reasons B only gets to invite 6 kids because at least half of them will bring their siblings If you didn't plan on having parents being present I would just tell the mom that they'll be the only parents attending, I would hope she would get the message that way.

  38. ALV91711

@Smurfette: @Pumuckl: Thanks ladies. We've only been to a couple parties so I wasn't too sure what was normal. I plan on a parent with each kid, I just didn't think about whole families coming.
