@Pumuckl: Congratulations!
@QueensBee: I hope your LO feels better soon.
We've been having a rough time with LO. So rough that I resorted to looking up the Wonder Weeks chart again. I guess we're right on track. "Is clingy and wants me to hold her a lot more; Cries really hard when throwing mini-tantrums; Fights diaper changes." I can't believe I'm still using that chart to improve my sanity. I realize it's crazy generic and horoscope-esque but I'm going to be so bummed when LO ages out.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts, everyone! Pete is definitely doing a lot better now that he's on antibiotics. DH is home sick today too. I feel like my whole house needs to be sterilized! My parents came over today to take Pete out to lunch and to give us some toddler-free time to sleep, which has been a huge help.
@Corduroy: Hey, whatever works! That chart has definitely provided us with a lot of reassurance over the year. At what age does the chart end? Pete is sick this week but he has been super clingy and fights every diaper change. Between the diaper changes and giving him his medicine (nebulizer, eye drops, and saline solution are the hardest), I feel like we are in a constant battle throughout the day. So anyway, you are not alone!

Popping in again to say hello!
@QueensBee: So glad to hear your LO is doing better. Sorry your DH is sick now. Hope you both feel better soon!!
@Corduroy: Whatever works for you to get thru the madness!! LO fights diaper changes so much he kicks and screams like he is being tortured. He is always holding my hand walking me around the house while DH gets to relax on the couch. Why?!!
@Pumuckl: Congratulations!!!

@Corduroy: Yikes! What age does the wonder week chart go to? Hopefully this one passes quickly.
@QueensBee: Hope that everyone in your house is feeling better.
@silver1: The other night Isaac was holding my hand taking me around the house to show me all his cars and push them around. Crazy kids, why can't we sit and see what you are doing.
Has anyone thought about birthday gifts? I'm not sure. I'd really like to get an art easel but we just don't have the space. Then I thought trike but it is still going to be snowy here at the end of March, so I just don't know.

R peed in the potty last night. I am sure it was a total fluke but I will take it. I had her sitting on it while I ran the bath. I turned to check the water temp and I turned around and I heard her little trickle and her face was like Mommy what's going on? Maybe the water in the bath made her go. Hopefully a couple more time she will get what pee pee is. I made sure to get super excited, tell her I was proud of her, etc.
@ALV91711: We are just doing small gifts. I over bought at Christmas, so we have a couple puzzles, some Halloween clearance Dress up dresses (which I don't think she will want yet), and some art stuff (she got an easel for Christmas). She doesn't need anything.

@Corduroy: I used that chart a few weeks ago, actually!
@QueensBee: Mine needs to be sanitized heavily, too...I was just telling DH today that I need to lysol as much as I can.
@ALV91711: We've been toying with bday gift ideas. I think she'd like a play kitchen or playhouse of some kind.
@Smurfette: That's so exciting she used it! And she seemed aware that *something* was going on! E tells us when she's pooped, but only afterwards. And she gets really excited watching me pee, exclaims "pee" numerous times, and will hand me toilet paper. So fun. She just started barging in on DH, too, and i'm like HOW DO YOU LIKE IT, BUDDY?! lol
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Corduroy: I checked the WW chart and it tells me that she is past them all. Is there another app for toddlers?
@blackbird: R usually doesn't tell us when she pooped. Sometimes I smell something and I ask her if she did, she shakes her head yes, and then really she didn't.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Smurfette: E will grab herself sort of excessively and go "POOOO" but sometimes she says she didn't if she did, too.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: That is so exciting that she peed on the potty! I hope that she starts to get it and do it more often.
@blackbird: Isaac says "mommy poopy" if his diaper is really wet. If I asked him if he pooped he seems to always answer opposite.
Does anyone else use consequences? For example, we told Isaac if he doesn't brush his teeth then no housecoat after the bath. It worked like a charm and now he is happily brushing his teeth. He seems to respond pretty well. We've only done it a handful of times, but he listens really good if we do.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: no pee pee tonight. We have tried consequences with her. Most of the time they don't work.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: We're getting Xander a trike even though he won't really be able to use it for months! We're also going to get him a toddler pillow.
@Smurfette: That's awesome!!! Even if it was a fluke, hopefully now that she's done it once, it will be easier for her to do it again.

So Xander got a hold of another kid's milk at daycare today. The teacher isn't sure how much he had, but he had it to his mouth and when she grabbed it away, milk leaked out of his mouth, so she thinks he had a small sip. But he had ZERO reaction!!!!! I really hope this means he is outgrowing his allergy and it wasn't just a lucky fluke.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: Sounds like maybe he is growing out of the allergy. That would be awesome. Where are you getting a toddler pillow from?
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Adira: yikes but so glad he had no reaction! Hopefully you'll get good news at his next allergy check up.
I just had the second solo night with both LOs and this time was a lot better than the first when both were screaming at the same time *ugh*. This time they took turns which didn't leave me with too much sleep but I felt a lot less stressed out. I'Ve been really lucky with J since she is just such an amazingly fast nurser. She's usually all done within 15-20min and often after 10. Hope it stays that way.
B is still totally enamored by his little sister. She's the first thing he goes searching for when he gets home from daycare and once he wakes in the morning. Tomorrow will be the first day where he gets to spend the whole day with her though so we'll see how that goes.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Nope. None of the kids have.
@Adira: That's great. When do you check for the allergy again?
@Pumuckl: Good luck today!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I'm sure once one does they will all start. At least you know she is getting on the potty every day.
@Pumuckl: So awesome that he loves his little sister so much. I really hope she remains an efficient nurser, especially when you are on your own with both. I hope you have a really good day with both at home and that they take a nap at the same time so you can rest.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: @Pumuckl: @Smurfette: Thanks ladies! I'm hopeful! Though he just had his blood test for his milk allergy in November and it showed he was pretty allergic, so we won't have him tested again until later this year.
@ALV91711: I'm planning on ordering one from Amazon. I think I'll get this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KDKKD1I/
@Pumuckl: Oh my gosh, you've been alone with both kids?? I'm still scared to and Logan's almost 7 weeks! The one time I was alone with them was when I had to pick up Xander early from daycare and bring him to the pediatrician, but it was only for a couple hours and Logan slept through most of it. Also jealous that B is so into his little sister. Xander still doesn't care much for Logan!

Thanks for all the "get well!" messages! We are all feeling much, much better!
@ALV91711: An art easel is also on the top of my list for birthday gift, but I'm concerned about space too. I probably won't decide on anything for another month or so.
@Smurfette: How exciting that she used her potty! Her facial expression must have been priceless!
@ALV91711: We've been using more of a time out/talk it out method. For example, a few days ago, Pete was climbing on the couch and trying to play with our antique glass lamps. After I told him to stop many times, I brought him to his crib for a "time out" but we talked about the rule together. I don't know where this started from, but after I go over a new rule, I say, "Capeesh?" and he says "Capeesh!" if he's willing to cooperate. He loves saying capeesh! and it's actually been working for us so far. We also use "one, two, three" a lot. So far those two methods work most of the time but we will try the consequence idea next!
@Adira: Scary that Xander had milk again but yaaaay, I really hope he's outgrown the allergy! That would be amazing! Did you ask your doctor if you should try to introduce it again?
@Pumuckl: I just love how curious B is about his sister! And I'm way impressed that you're already handling nights solo! You're doing an awesome job!
Today is DH's birthday and we're spending the night in NYC. We have dinner reservations at a nice restaurant and then I surprised him by booking us a room at a fun downtown hotel. I'm soooooo excited to sleep in tomorrow morning!

@Adira: Nevermind, just saw your most recent update about waiting to retest for the milk allergy! Still, such a good sign that he didn't have a major reaction!

@QueensBee: That sounds amazing. So jealous. Enjoy your night!!

@Adira: That looks like a nice little pillow. I haven't even really thought about him using one yet.
@QueensBee: Capeesh, love it! I do the counting thing too. Hope you guys have an amazing night out!

How was everyone's weekend.
Ours started out good and then Isaac woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday and puked all over me. Yesterday he pretty much didn't leave my side. He is getting better but I am keeping him home today, since he isn't 100%
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I hope he is feeling better!
Our weekend was ok, super low key which was nice. R has decided she needs to wake up at 600/630 now, so that is super fun. Yesterday she threw an epic tantrum at my parents when I put her in the PnP for a nap. Took her over 45 mins to fall asleep and then napped for 45 mins. Luckily she went to sleep early without an issues at home.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: That is a short nap. Good thing she went to bed good. Days she wakes up earlier does she nap more or is she just sleeping less?
At 7am this morning I asked Isaac if he wanted something to eat and he told me chicken soup! lol. I got him to settle for yogurt.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Nope. All in all she is getting way less sleep. We kept her up later on Friday cause we were at friend's house and usually then she sleeps in. But she was at up 630 (well up earlier, 630 is when she was calling for us). I don't know what is going on.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: That isn't good. I hate it when they aren't getting enough sleep and you don't know why. Hopefully she starts sleeping more again soon.
How has everyone else been doing for sleep?

@ALV91711: weekend was good and my kids had a blast at a gymnastics bday party. My LO is drooling a lot this morning and her gums are kinda swollen! Yay, more teething?!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@ALV91711: sleep has been ok. She STTN for most of the week but always has 1 (sometimes 2) bad nights of multiple wakeups. Even if she doesn't wake...she whimpers in her sleep!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@ALV91711: Totally shitty. @Smurfette: said that it could be age related, and this most recent pages seems to confirm that, LOL. We are re sleep training with a vengeance.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@blackbird: It is so frustrating cause over Christmas she was sleeping 8/830-800/900 with a 2 hr nap. Now she only naps 2 hrs at day care and is sleeping 8/830-6/630. We can put her down at 7 and it is 8/815 before she falls asleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
and yes I looked up, Day light saving is March 8th so maybe that will help. If only it wasn't a month and half away.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Smurfette: Yes :'( E slept so well over the break, even while sick. And now it's such a clusterfuck. And i know she is tired--purple bags under her eyes and such. But i don't want her adjusting to his low level of sleep and thinking it's somehow always acceptable! Just because you can run on low sleep doesn't mean you should!

Just popping in to say hi! I've been on very little for quite awhile. Kinda didn't 'feel it' but running across this thread made me smile. Can't believe we have toddlers
