@mrs. wagon: So I just read through the last few posts cause I was so curious what this TMI and tearing was all about! ;D
    @mediagirl: Woohoo it's almost time!

@mediagirl: that is so exciting!!! I have my appointment this Thursday too but so far I don't think I'm that dilated, however my belly slopes more but I never felt that I physically dropped.

Let us know how it goes!! I get so excited for my weekly appointments. I'm kind of hoping I don't make it to Thursday because I have to drive myself to the appointment and I get scared driving now since I have random, painful contractions.

@HeatherlovesKenny: I'd be scared, too if I was having contractions! Hopefully both of our appointments on Thursday bring good news. How are you feeling other than the contractions?

@Mrs. Wagon - there's nothing to be embarrassed about! We would have given you a hard time if you hadn't told us what happened!! Hope you're back to normal soon.

I'm late to this thread but I've been stalking HB for a while and wanting to transition over more to here from WB since there are more resources for what I need lately (being so late in the pregnancy and with baby questions) and this seems like a good thread to start with. I know some of you from WB though. I'm due July 14 with a little girl named Zoey but I don't think anymore that I'll get that far. The doctor had to check because she feels so low to me and said I'm not dilating but she is indeed sitting pretty low plus she's in the 77th percentile for size.

I've just skimmed this thread so far but hopefully I'll be able to keep up from this point forward.

@mandb36: Welcome, glad to see a familiar face! I made the transition from wb too.

I don't know what happened this weekend, but I am officially slowing down. I have the speed of about an 80 year old and getting off the couch feels like a humongous accomplishment lately. I was kinda hoping I wouldn't slow down this early, I'm only 34 weeks, I still have 6 left to go.....

  8. mrs. wagon

    blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts

@mandb36: welcome welcome!!! I am due mid July with a little girl as well, and mine is sitting super low as well. I never felt this kind of pain and discomfort with my first, who was sitting sideways the whole time until the very very end!

@krsmall: I am grandma slow as well!! ugh. not a good time to be huge and slow... the heat and pollen are disgusting!!!

just wanted to say... it's almost June. I have a month and a half left. Holy moly. I need to pack my hospital bag!!!!

@mediagirl: I'm feeling pretty decent, I have cramping all the time and my waddling is ridiculous but otherwise all feels normal. How are you feeling?? Do you feel like you're making progress? I'm really happy that I've dropped but I still haven't lost the mucus plug.

@mrs. wagon: Woohoo!! That's nothing! I'm so excited for all of these summer babies to start coming!

  11. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@HeatherlovesKenny: remind me of your due date again?

I'm ...okay. Walking hurts, standing up hurts. You know, the usual. I'm not feeling great today but I'm wondering if it's because my body is mad that I had milk this morning. It usually doesn't affect me this badly. I go to bed every night praying I will wake up in the middle of the night with contractions. I get BH's pretty often now. Especially when I'm doing things - laundry, making the bed, etc.

I had a glop of something gross dislodge early last week. OB said it could have been the mucous plug. Eh, we'll see.

@mrs. wagon: woohoo! A month and a half left!! Yeah, that hospital bag? I just packed it this weekend. Procrastinator.

@krsmall: Sorry you're feeling so slugish!

    Hi @mandb36!!

@krsmall: I've been grandma slow for a while now and I'm 26 weeks! And to reply to your comment from a few days ago - for whatever reason, I'm not afraid of delivery just yet. I'm more afraid of a c-section because of the surgery aspect of it. Maybe it's because I've witnessed 7 vaginal deliveries and see that it is possible and the ladies survive? haha *shrugs*

@mediagirl: Wow, you're really getting close! How exciting!

@mrs. wagon: Glad everything worked out okay! And holy cow on that month and a half mark! What are you packing in your hospital bag? I suppose I should be getting one together myself!

Ladies, I have less than 6 weeks until my midwives said they'd be okay with the boys coming into this world... it's freaking me out! They said any time after 32 weeks.... and I feel so unprepared!! What is everyone putting in their hospital bag? I feel like I'm really unprepared and behind!!

  16. mrs. wagon

    blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts

@Shimmer: here's my hospital bag list... really shaved down from the first list because I didn't use most of the stuff!!

toiletry bag (I always keep one stocked with shampoo, face wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes for both Wagon Sr. and me, hair elastics, etc etc etc)
makeup bag (YES I am packing makeup)
    glasses and case
    robe and nightgown
    nursing bras
going home outfit (probably maternity sundress)
clothes for Wagon Sr. (2 shirts, shorts, 2 boxers)
    flip flops
    snacks
cell phone charger (our phones use the same one)
    laptop and charger
    camera and charger
    boppy
baby's going home outfit and extra hats
infant carseat with snuzzler (will be installed into the car soon.. AHHHHH)

After we get back from our trip to Tampa this weekend, I'll be unpacking and then re-packing for the HOSPITAL.... ahhH!!!!

  17. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@shimmer, to add to wagon's list:
-Insurance paperwork for my doctor to sign off on so I can send it in immediately to get my short term disability payment and my hospital confinement payment.
-Speakers to play my music through
    -Slippers
-Drawstring pj pants and a maternity tank top
-Going home outfit = maternity yoga pants + maternity top
-Baby book to get her feet and hand prints stamped inside.

@Mrs. Wagon - good call on the boppy. I need to put that next to the suitcase. I might have packed three different outfits for her coming home outfit. Did you find the snuzzler worked well or was just more of a pita?

  18. mrs. wagon

    blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts

@mediagirl: yes, I ended up sending Wagon Sr. home to get the boppy last time so it's definitely going with us this time. Same with my makeup... everyone said I wouldn't need/want it but it's the first thing I wanted after my shower the next morning!! Wagon Sr. was going crazy with the photos and we had so many visitors. I won't pack ALL of my makeup but at least some foundation, powder, concealer, blush, and eyeliner! And of course some lip gloss/balm.

So the snuzzler is not technically considered safe since it's a plush item that could compress on impact.... but we didn't have one in the beginning last time and I will definitely be using it this time. When baby is super tiny they are just rolling around all over the place. You can also roll up receiving blankets and place them around the baby so they're not rolling all about, but the snuzzler is just so perfectly shaped to hold their heads in place as well as fill out the space around their arms and legs. The key is to get it installed into the carseat well before the baby is here. Once it's in it's not a pain at all since it doesn't move.

@mrs.wagon: Man, what a scare! I'd be freaked out too! Glad it's nothing too serious! I had major groin pain when I was pregnant with my son but not so much this time around (well, not right now anyway...it could sneak up on me soon though). July is coming soon! AHHH!!!

@mediagirl: MUCOUS PLUG! So close! My water broke 3 days after my mucous plug dislodged!!

  20. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

Oh and one other thing in my hospital bag.... my birth plan. The hospital gives you a sheet to fill out, so I filled it out. Essentially it says, "I'm scared of labor, birth and an epidural. I will probably want an epidural. Please just help me through it!!" Haha.

  21. HabesBabe

    grapefruit / 4400 posts

@mrs. wagon: OMG that looked like a "long" list at first glance, but then as I was reading through it, I was like... damn. I plan on packing all of that stuff, too.

We're going on our hospital tour today for our last childbirth class, so I'm going to be on the lookout to see what's in the rooms (docking station/speakers for our phones... we both have Droids, so the iPod docking station won't work for us). I think we're also going to bring our exercise ball for me to sit on during labor. We're planning on leaving it in the car until after I get checked-- if I'm far enough along, I don't want to make hubs bring it in for nothing.

@mediagirl: ooh, good call on the baby book! And does everyone need to bring in paperwork for disability to be signed right then and there?

  22. mrs. wagon

    blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts

@HabesBabe: @mediagirl: if you forget the baby book you can always just have them stamp the footprint on a piece of paper and you can paste it into the book later! But it was nice to have the baby book to write in during downtime too! ack, I still have to GET a baby book for this new baby!

@HabesBabe: yeah, the list looks long but it's not much! basically just clothes and toiletries, and stuff for the baby! My hospital provides a LOT in terms of blankets, pacifiers, diapers, etc. so we're not bringing any of that. You should also call and see if they have birthing balls-- ours had them so we didn't have to bring one, but we didn't use one anyway.

@mediagirl: that's my kind of birth plan I'm pretty type A and controlling in general, but when it comes to medicine and stuff like that, I just want to follow the doctor's orders!

  23. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@mrs. wagon: I'm the same way - Type A, controlling, etc. I figure once I'm in that position, though...I will just want someone telling me what to do!

  24. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@HabesBabe: not sure about the paperwork. I talked to my short term disability company and they said to take it. That way, I don't forget about it. Plus, then I get my money sooner if we get it signed and mailed out quickly.

I have 16 days left until my due date. Yikes! I feel pretty good. Just some intense BH at night, but nothing I can't handle. I'm a little freaked out at how close we all are!

@mediagirl: I'm due the 8th! At 36 weeks I thought that there was no way she would be on time, she had to be late...now that 39 weeks is approaching in a few days--I can't imagine lasting until Friday?! TMI: every time I use the bathroom, I feel low pressure like I could push the baby out right then, it's too weird!

But Friday is my birthday and my mom's birthday so it would be fun if she decided to come then!

  28. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@HeatherlovesKenny: I'm having the same pressure!! Our due dates are on top of one another - I'm the 9th. Do you also feel like you have to pee like you have never peed before but then when you do, so little comes out? The baby has definitely dropped, making that bladder so small!!

The time is almost here!! I just can't wait for my Thursday OB appt to find out where I'm at.

Aw. How fun would it be for your lo to share a b'day with her Grandma and you!!

  29. cheesetomywhine

    pear / 1586 posts

    @mediagirl: You're getting close!

@HeatherlovesKenny: Both you and your mum share a birthday? That would be completely awesome if your baby girl joined you!

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and am not in any rush to meet my LO. I do really want to know if it is a boy or a girl...but I am definitely not over being pregnant. I really am enjoying it! My ankles (mainly my right) has started to swell some but nothing horrible. We're installing the car seats this weekend...I still need to pack the hospital bag. I think my DH and I are in disbelief that we're going to be coming home with a LO soon!

@mrs. wagon: Thanks for the hospital bag list! I shall use it when I get the motivation to pack mine!

  30. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@mediagirl: I'm glad I'm not alone on the pushing feeling--DH looked at me like I was crazy when trying to explain it. And yes! I have to stop at every restroom while we're out but there's maybe two drops of pee? Lol, tmi again--sorry!

  31. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

OMG I am so frustrated. I went to the OB today and....nothing. No movement from last week. No dilation, no further effacement. Come. On. Baby. Girl! Momma wants you outside!! GAH!

@HeatherlovesKenny: how did your appointment go? Hopefully better than mine!!

  32. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@mediagirl: ah man! I know it's discouraging to feel very pregnant, sore and ready to be done without any sign of the end approaching. But I've heard so many stories of, "I wasn't dilated at all but I went into labor the next day!"--hopefully that happens to you! I'm trying to prep myself not to be disappointed because I just have a strong feeling that nothing has been going on down there except that she has dropped (or sloped, lol). I go in soon so I'll let you guys know how it goes!

  33. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@mediagirl: mine went the same as yours! Two weeks ago my doctor told me I was .5cm dilated but he didn't write it down...today he said I was closed! And still 60% effaced. Boo! It's whatever, I'm just going to go about my week like normal and we'll see how it goes. For now, I'm going to curl up to take a nap and hopefully that'll put me in a better mood!

  34. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@HeatherlovesKenny: Geez! What is with our babies/bodies!? Don't they know we're ready? The midwife I saw today (I normally see OB's but they have a midwife in practice, as well) said to try warm baths if you are having bh. Apparently a warm bath is supposed to "calm" your uterus because it gets all irritable doing bh contractions and then doesn't want to try to do the real thing. Who knows....I'll try it.
