I noticed on the Hypnobabies post that there are a few of us due in April.
I'm due April 9. (I'm 27w3d). Having a little girl, Billie. My baby shower is February 25.
How are you April mamas-to-be doing?

Have you found an outfit for your shower yet?

I'm due April 17 and I'm also having a girl! I'm having two showers - one in late February and one in early March. (Yes, this baby will be spoiled rotten before she makes her appearance).

@mrsjazz: No clue yet! I begged my mom to let me know the date rather than have it be a surprise though so that I didnt show up looking like a frump!

I need to add a boy to the mix =) I'm due April 12th. My family baby shower is going to be the last weekend of February, the friends "shower" (more like a get together since it will be coed) is sometime in March and my work shower will be sometime in February, I think.
When is everyone going out on maternity leave? I plan on going out 3-4 weeks before my due date. I wish I could work longer but my job gets pretty stressful at the end of March and I just don't think I could handle it. I barely made it through our December busy time.

@sweetkate: Glad there's a boy in the mix
I was going to have 2 showers, work and friends/family--but I decided to invite my small department to my friends/family shower because there aren't that many people at work I want to attend my shower. And I've been to a few work showers that have just been plain awkward. My mom and boss think I should just deal with the awkwardness so I can get more things for the baby
Right now my plan is to work until this baby pops, but I don't know how I'm going to feel closer to the date. I can technically take 2 weeks off prior to my due date, but we're only allowed 3 months max (paid or unpaid), so I want to save all my time for after she's here.

@sweetkate: I was planning on working up until my water broke! but I am already getting so stressed / tired and just over it that I am now considering just going out on April 1st.

@Bluebonnet: we're really close! I'm due April 18th, also with a little girl. We're planning on one big baby shower at the end of February. Our little girl is going to be totally rotten too! She's the first grandbaby for both my husbands parents and mine

@sweetkate: I'm planning on working right up until I go into labor. Not ideal, but I only have enough PTO time to supplement for 6 weeks of what STD doesn't pay. So I don't want to waste any of time off before the baby is here.

@mrsjazz: I wish I wasn't having a work shower, I really don't like being the center of attention but my boss has been pretty adamant about throwing me one. I wanted to combine my friends and family one but everyone is so spread out and it would be just too many people for one shower.
@JustlikeHeaven: I feel ya! I'm ready to go out now =)

@jennylynn: I feel really lucky that I am able to take time off before the baby gets here. I was going to work up until I just couldn't do it anymore but then when I looked at our calendar I just knew I wouldn't be able to. And then my coworker told me that we can take time off before hand so I am definitely taking advantage of it.
persimmon / 1134 posts
@sweetkate: Yeah you are lucky! I work 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week so that'll either work for me, or against me. Hopefully, I won't have any problems hanging in for the whole 12 towards the end, and I'll be able to get things done on my 4 days off.

On the topic of work showers.....I work with 4 other girls here. No one has really brought up the topic of throwing me a work baby shower, but they have mentioned that they all pitched in and got me a swing/bouncer combo. Should I invite them to our family shower? I don't want to leave them out, but I don't want them to feel awkward or obligated either.
pomegranate / 3438 posts
@jennylynn: wow! I couldn't imagine working 12 hour shifts! Do you get 4 days off in a row, or is it split?
persimmon / 1134 posts
@sweetkate: for the most part it's split. I used to do 3 in a row, but it's just too much for me now, so I try and spread out my days off.

@jennylynn: This is the first grandchild for both set of parents, too. Although the weird thing is that we both have very young siblings (courtesy of both of our dads). So this baby will have a 6 year old uncle and a 2 year old aunt!

@mrsjazz - we're due date twins! i'm due april 9.... but then, i'm having twins, so we're expecting them around week 37/38, which is like march 19/26.
we're having a shower this saturday! any later, we thought might be pushing it if i had a tough pregnancy. but so far, knock on wood, going well.
took about 4 weeks off and starting work again next week. working until the end of february and done for good! at least for a while!

I passed my 1hr. glucose test! And then celebrated with oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
@tequiero21: awww, I love twins! Do you know if they're identical or fraternal?

Hey everyone!
I'm due April 6th with a little boy! His name is a secret until he makes his grand entrance though, lol. My shower isn't until March, the exact date hasn't been determined yet though.

@mrsjazz: fraternal! boy and a girl! congrats on passing the test! stressful, eh?

@mrsjazz: congrats on passing! I take mine next Wed and I'm so nervous!

@tequiero21: @jennylynn: That test is stressful. And I have not been eating the healthiest this pregnancy, so I thought for sure I'd fail and have to take the 3 hour test.
@jennylynn: Good luck!

I passed my glucose test too and I did eat a few hours before the test. Unfortunately i also found out I'm anemic so now I have to take extra iron supplements ugh!

@mrsjazz: i ate 2 bites of croissant right before the test! so i was extremely worried. lol. i was so hungry though (there was nothing in the house).....

I'm due April 3rd... so might even be a March mama if she decides to appear early. We have a name for our baby, but it will remain a secret until she is born. Our shower is on January 28th. It's early b/c it will be in Mass. where all of our friends and family are, but we currently live in Cali. My doctor doesn't want me flying after 32 weeks b/c of a low-lying placenta, and anyways I'm already pretty miserable flying at this point in my pregnancy.

I had to show off my latest project for the nursery, figured this would be a good place to do that!
I had gotten a matching crib and changing table/dresser thing for $100 used off Craigslist and I just did a complete overhaul of the dresser.
Here's before:

I'M OBSESSED WITH IT!
(PS - I broke down the whole process in my blog; there's a link to it on my profile)

@Navy_Mommy: very nice! love it! you seem like a very creative person lol. knitting, diy dressers.... nice!

@Navy_Mommy: It looks awesome! Great job.
No DIY here Got our crib and we're getting an Ikea dresser to match--but we're not setting up the baby's room until we move into our next apartment. So she'll be shacking up with Mommy and Daddy for the first 6 months of her life until we blow this joint.

@JustlikeHeaven: We are super close in dates--I am due April 7, and my shower is scheduled for the 19th of February. I am having a little girl.
We haven't set up much in our nursery or bought anything (or registered yet) as my husband and I are still renovating another part of our house, but I can't wait to get started.
persimmon / 1134 posts
@eastportbride: we did some renovating on our house also, and I couldn't wait for it to be finished!!! It's done now and I'm so glad! It's so hard to plan and do a nursery when your house isn't even ready! Good luck on finishing it up soon!

@jennylynn: Thanks--I just got a reassuring call from my contractor, but we've got at least 2 weeks left after this one. I guess what we're sacrificing in nursery planning/nesting we're actually making up for in planning for our new living room. Got a new rug ordered today and get to pick paint colors this week--it will look like a whole new house when we're done! Were you stressed out about finishing the project before your due date?
persimmon / 1134 posts
@Navy_Mommy: I love your dresser! It turned out really cute and your changing pad will match it perfect! My blogger's being difficult and wouldn't let me comment on it, but it looks great! Can't wait to see the rest of your projects!
persimmon / 1134 posts
@eastportbride: definitely! We started right after I found out I was pregnant, but we did 3 rooms and the last of the rooms to get done was the nursery! My dad did almost all of the work ,and he was only able to do it on weekends, so we just finished a few weeks ago. But, I will say, it was so worth it in the end! It looks amazing and I'm sure yours will too!

Due April 2nd! I have no hopes of being early, though, so I'm pretty sure we'll have an April baby. One of my showers is in my hometown Feb 4th and the other is where I live now on Feb 12th. Have you all been stalking your registeries as much as I have?
coconut / 8234 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: I don't have to stalk my registry--it sends me an e-mail whenever someone makes a purchase!
