@gilmoregirl: haha my coworkers may be on to me too but I got mono in April and so they are used to seeing me looking like crap!!! So far no one has asked. my ginger ale was in the purple cup again today & I hid the can behind some stuff on my desk! Lol

Today went so much better. So excited! Getting to school in the am is tough but once I am there the students keep me distracted. I was able to eat a little more which helped.

@gilmoregirl: @megz06: wait, they made you do an U/S with a full bladder? I had to have a completely empty one. Any reason for it?
apricot / 335 posts
@gilmoregirl: I was too. It was very uncomfortable!
@Mae:
@jill_a55:
I called and asked because when I went online it said to have a full bladder. They treat it like any pelvic exam, and typically for pelvic exams you need to have a full bladder. Apparently it creates a better "window" to your uterus, but it varies site to site on if they make you or not.They always recommend coming in with a full one anyway because they expect me to give urine at every appointment going forward. They just recommend holding it. You don't have to drink a certain amount. it was uncomfortable and I felt like I was going to pee all over, but it wasn't that bad lol

@megz06: oh strange! I went in with a semi-full bladder because I could hardly give them a sample at my first appointment (my nurse said it was literally the smallest sample she's ever gotten, haha) and the nurse this time said in order to do the U/S I needed a completely empty one. Did they do an internal U/S for you? That was what mine was.

@luckypenny: Thanks for keeping up with the list!
@Mae: @jill_a55: @megz06: I have only had to have a full bladder once when I wasn't pregnant...cause they were looking at my ovaries, and the bladder gave them a landmark. But, I've never had to have a full bladder while pregnant in an ultrasound.

At my appointment yesterday they had me give a urine sample before the ultrasound, fwiw!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@nana87: Yep, they'll check your urine at every appointment to check for sugar, protein, infections and nitrates.

@jill_a55: I just had a regular u/s. They didn't so a vaginal u/s (is that what you're asking). If they do a vaginal u/s you don't need a full bladder.
@Dandelion: This makes sense She did take pictures of my ovaries, so perhaps that's why I needed the full bladder. They have just told me to have a full one every time because they expect me to pee in a cup, so I will always go in that way, but that explains why they needed one for this u/s if it was to take pics of my ovaries too.

So, nausea is real. Ugh. I felt miserable until I ate a few crackers this morning. Yay for a new symptom.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: I'm glad that yesterday went so well!!
@jill_a55: my pelvic ultrasounds have been full bladder, transvaginal have been empty. They didn't specifically say come with a full bladder, but they always make me empty it before a TV one.
@PEAPIE: nausea is real, and it's awful. Hang in there, lady.
So...I *may* be turning a corner. I'm afraid to say it without jinxing it, but I've had hours here and there where I don't' feel like I want to die. I'm not sure if that is because I now have things to distract me, or if I'm actually maybe feeling better, but there it is. Don't get me wrong, nausea is still here, but it's not as omnipresent as it once was.
Of course, now that I've said that, it's bound to come back with a vengeance any second now

@LovelyPlum: I know what you mean about symptoms coming and going and jinxing yourself. The other day I posted about not having symptoms and then I got hit with major heartburn.
@PEAPIE: Feel better!

Question -
Has anyone been brave enough to buy any baby stuff yet?
cherry / 202 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Uh, *raises hand* Just a cute little pack of onesies... I couldn't resist. But don't tell DH, he's superstitious and would get all weird about it.
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: I'm glad to hear you are doing a little better! I'm feeling better today than I have in a whole week. Like you, the nausea is still there but it's a little more manageable. I actually slept all night (since when does nausea wake people during the night?) and I have had several snacks. Here's hoping it stays a little better for both of us!!!
cherry / 202 posts
@PEAPIE: I'm torn between congratulating you and feeling sorry for you. I hope you feel better!
coconut / 8079 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I haven't but I do know what I want to get as our first item!! Our Sams Club has had Sophie the Giraffe for several months now and I want one!! My excuse is they rotate their stock so it might not be there in a few more months. I think I will wait until the first ultrasound in 2 weeks.

@LovelyPlum: So so glad things are getting better for you! It's too mean that we hope and hope for this thing to happen and then, when it does, we're too sick to really enjoy it! Here's to feeling better!
apricot / 448 posts
@Dandelion: @megz06: @LovelyPlum: Ah, okay! thanks for the info! Mine was a TV one, so I guess that is why.
@T.H.O.U.: I bought baby stuff before I was pregnant ::hangs head in shame:: But actually haven't bought anything yet while pregnant.... probably because I have no desire to go shopping whatsoever... darn MS!
papaya / 10343 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I have not! Feels like jinxing it. I will definitely wait until past 12 weeks to buy anything. Maybe even until past 20 when I find out the gender. I'm not really feeling a super big urge to buy stuff now anyways though. I've never really been a "baby person" so honestly I don't even know what I'm supposed to buy and all the cute clothes are gender specific.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I have! but I've also been traveling so much that it's like special things that I could only buy there, and if something happens they could be gifts for my nieces...
watermelon / 14206 posts
@megz06: Well...your uterus should give a good landmark with a baby in there, so the full bladder thing doesn't really seem necessary. Oh well, though, it's over and you got a cute pic of your LO!

Fatigue has hit. The new semester for me and new school year for DS doesn't help. I'm going to plug through it, though. I'm really looking forward to the 3 days weekend! I wish we had planned to go somewhere, though.
Stopping has finally stopped. I'm so thrilled! only 16 days until my ultrasound!
apricot / 344 posts
@LovelyPlum: @jhd: @T.H.O.U.: @sweetkeight: Thanks ladies. I guess it's only fair... I have to put in my time
@LovelyPlum: I don't want to jinx you, but YAY for a feeling better!
@T.H.O.U.: Oh heartburn, that is definitely no fun.
Since I've been having trouble believing I'm actually pregnant... We went to Buy Buy Baby this weekend just to look around and 'get acquainted' in hopes that it might get me more excited too. But it just freaked me out more than anything and I ended up getting a cute outfit for our friend's daughter. We walked to the car and DH was like, "You're going to have to start buying stuff for our baby instead of other people's babies!"
pomelo / 5607 posts
T.H.O.U.: I bought stuff from the first bfp last time, and even having had a loss I'm doing so again. I think it has to do with the fact that I don't buy them for THIS baby. I buy things as a way of saying that I believe, no matter what happens, we WILL have a baby one day.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@T.H.O.U.: not yet. BUT, I think I'm going to be brave enough to buy myself some maternity pants this weekend. That's sort of the same thing, right? And I think DH might paint in a few weeks. We're in a one bedroom, but we're going to do an accent wall where the baby's things will be. So, I'm allowing myself to plan!!
And the heartburn is awful. I got woken up by major heartburn/middle of the night nausea two nights ago. I had to totally switch around when I took Zofran because I couldn't handle it.
@Dandelion: Oy. That's the worst. I've had it big time, too. But I am so glad that your spotting has stopped!
@PEAPIE: I've been super super tempted to go to BBB. But every time I gear up to go, I get sick, nauseous, or nervous. Soon, though. I want to test drive strollers!!
@Torchwood: that's the spirit!!
@T.H.O.U.: @PEAPIE: @sweetkeight: @jhd: thank you! I'm trying to enjoy the nausea abatement while it lasts. The smell thing has been ridiculous, though. I currently am sitting within smelling distance of the office microwave, and it's making me dry heave. I'm going to have to close my door. EW.
For the record, this symptom thing is so crazy-different than the stereotypes, but yet the same. My pallet changes constantly, and so does my sense of smell. I don't feel like a crazy preggo, until I say things out loud that must sound insane to other people. For example, "I ate an entire pineapple in two days because it was the only thing I could get down," "I don't like eggs or meat anymore, but fast food breakfast sandwiches are OK," and "the smell of Styrofoam in the fridge makes me sick." I said both of these to my sister yesterday, and her response was basically, "OK crazy person." Whoops

TMI: Threw up in my mouth this AM when I opened the garbage.
I feel awful. Think I'm getting progressively worse. Just started my 8th week yesterday and I can't imagine feeling like this for another month. My toddler has also refused to nap or sleep unless she is on top of my face so getting rest is not really an option
@LovelyPlum: glad to hear your symptoms are getting better!
@T.H.O.U.: I bought two onesises from babyGap that I was going to give DH as his BFP present but we tested together so thats all I have. Probably won't buy much for this baby at all. Just cross my fingers its another girl and then we really wont have to buy anything at all!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: oh honey. That sounds AWFUL. I'm definitely starting to get nauseous from smells more than I ever did before. But I hope that your daughter lets you get some relief! Have you considered asking for meds?

I actually asked my US tech about the full bladder thing last time around... She told me that it's totally the preference of the US tech, and the only time it really matters is when you have an abnormally shaped uterus. I'll never forget waiting in that damn waiting room for my 12 week ultrasound, having to pee SO bad, only to have the tech tell me to empty my bladder the second she took me back. Telling a pregnant woman she can't pee is like the meanest thing you can do!
apricot / 335 posts
@Pink Champagne: True that! It didn't feel very nice trying to empty my bladder after she was pressing around on it.

So chocolate chip cookies and I broke up a while back, but I think I may have just ended my relationship with chocolate in general. I just had a handful of Hershey's Kisses, because they tasted SO GOOD...and now I want to throw them all back up.
apricot / 448 posts
@LovelyPlum: Chocolate and I broke up a few weeks back too My DH brought home my favorite Ben & Jerry's last night, and I took one bite and couldn't handle it. Diet coke and I broke up too... so sad. Basically nothing but water now

@PEAPIE: nausea is finally real for me too I guess I'm thankful for it on one hand, but these last couple days have been terrible and I'm ready for it to go away!
@LoveyPlum: chocolate and I have not broken up yet but I kind of wish we would! Instead, with the new wave of nausea I'm experiencing, it would seem Greek yogurt and I are going to have to see other people for right now. Everytime I even think about looking at Greek yogurt I want to vomit! I hope we can rekindle our relationship soon because it is one of my favorite foods!

@LovelyPlum: Chocolate and I are still getting along, but it isn't my go-to anymore like it used to be, and I actually really like that.
My go-to comfort now is a nap, and boy I would LOVE to get in on some of that right now. Zzzzzz
