@luckypenny: sorry you're feeling so crummy!! hopefully rest will help? and drinking some hot fluids? and steam?

@LovelyPlum: she is excited, and I responded nicely to her without the sarcasm i used here I think what she actually means is it's hard for her because she has no filter! she is terrible at keeping secrets. she does legit have a lot on her mind right now (she's closing on a condo that she's buying on friday...), but sheesh....!

@Dandelion: haha, i did tell her to pretend like she doesn't know the name! ugh, and sorry your mom "misunderstood," what a lame excuse!

@LovelyPlum: @Dandelion: @nana87: thanks ladies. Will try those things. Vicks sounds awesome. Having some hot tea as we speak I told dH if I don't make it through the night to inform you all. (haha I'm such a dramatic when I'm sick).

@LovelyPlum: Thanks. Ear ache is gone now, so I am in better spirits.

@luckypenny: Just wanted to chime in and say DH gets a horrible chest cough twice a year. I get all natural eucalyptus oil and put 3-4 drops on the heels of his feet and then put socks on him, and he won't cough at night. We tried doing the same with Vicks, but it didn't work as well. You could give that a try if Vicks doesn't work for the cough

@megz06: oooh! That sounds nice. Ill have DH run to whole foods and pick some up

Again, so much to catch up on!

@luckypenny: Gosh, I'm sorry you're sick! I use DoTerra essential oils for EVERYTHING and I agree with @megz06: on the eucalyptus! DoTerra also has a really good immunity blend called On Guard - which I use like holy water- splash it all over myself- when I get even an inkling of feeling sick. I hope you feel better soon!

Gear... I'm pretty sure we know what we want now. But I'm just waiting for possible holiday sales to buy everything! Aren't we pregnant at the perfect time!?

@nana87: lol, fair. That's what we're here for My father, who is also excited, is the opposite of your mom. I told him to make sure to tell his friends before we went to a wedding with them all a few weeks ago, so that I didn't show up and get too much attention. Well whatdoyouknow, he told no one. Not ONE person. Had my mother not told the mother of the groom, they wouldn't have known, either. So I spent the majority of the wedding telling people the (very) obvious without trying to upstage the bride and groom. I know he's nervous, but I said it was OK. Good grief.

@luckypenny: @megz06: that sounds so nice, and I'm not sick. I may have to get some of that!!

@luckypenny: OK, I maaay have found the bag I want. Take this with a grain of salt, because I've said this approximately a million times, but I think I found it. I want something I can use everyday and throw in the baby things when we're out together. I think this might do the trick. Thoughts?

@LovelyPlum: love it! Only concern would be that the interior isn't a good fabric if you have spills (and you will). The bottle/sippy/food will spill at some point and it may ruin the bag. Or those time when you have to stick a dirty diaper in there until you find a trash can, or your infant spits up/has poop explosion all over outfit...you get my point

I think that would be a great option after baby is 1 and needing less diapers/bottles/stuff when you go out and they are less likely to be messy. Or keep a bunch of ziploc bags in there for emergencies/transporting dirty clothes and liquids

@luckypenny: Good call on that. I sorta thought about it, but clearly not enough. OK, I may keep looking for a baby/mama bag but keep this one on my "mama only" shelf But the size and shape is what I'm going for, so it gives me hope that there is something out there for me!

I have been thinking about gear, but I haven't bought anything really yet because I'm kind of waiting on finding out the sex, and to see what our parents/grandparents are going to want to get. We don't find out what we're having until dec. 16, so I have still have another month to go and I'm literally dying of anticipation lol! On the topic of the mommy/baby bag, I have been looking at a lot of bags really similar to that but I'm thinking if it looks too much like a purse my husband will refuse to carry it haha. So I'm kind of torn on what to get.

  12. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@CharityAnne: I am trying to be nice to my hubby and research a baby bag that isn't girly or like a purse.DH would carry it no matter what, and I may go more girly if we find out we're having a girl, but right now I found a Dr. Seuss one on Amazon. I am a HUGE Seuss fan, so I may get it regardless.

Ladies, this 2nd tri just keeps getting worse...I woke up with a cold sore this morning and because Abreva doesn't have any info for pregnant women (and because the internet was so split with opinions-mostly no's) I can't do anything until my nurse calls me back after asking the doctor. I haven't had one in over 5 years, why now?! If this ruptures I know what will happen...I will get a cluster of 5 or more. It always happens. I hate this.

@megz06: oh no! cold sores are THE WORST! Im sorry Mama

  15. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: BOOOO. I have one, too. I think it's because my immune system is suppressed (that's what happens, right?) At any rate, that is when I usually get mine. Super annoying.

  16. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@luckypenny: @LovelyPlum: I'm sorry. I feel like such a whiny B lately...I feel like once I get over one thing, something else starts. The good news is I got the ok to use Abreva. Bad news is my cold sore has grown and started some tiny clustering today. Hoping the Abreva keeps those tiny clusters, well, tiny, and controls the big one. My mom said to put perfume on it because apparently she heard that works. I believe it does, but I think that is only once the cold sore ruptures. Not when it's still filled like mine is. At any rate I don't feel comfortable sticking perfume on an open sore. Not now anyway.

    blogger / cherry / 179 posts

@megz06: yeah I think I'm just gonna pick the bag I like regardless of how purse like it is lol. He will just have to get over it and be happy that I'm going to pick a neutral color (black, tan). I'm so sorry about your stupid cold sore, I get those things too and they are the absolute worst!!! I'm glad you got the ok for the abreva, but if you're feeling adventurous, I've used ice cubes, salt, and pure vanilla extract before with some decent results on helping to dry them out. However I can kinda be a bit crazy maybe when it comes to those...I'm like slathering 2-3 different treatments on it every hour thinking "please hurry up and just go away!!"

@megz06: Thats okay. Sometimes we all need to vent a little I sent DD to MILs house for the past 2 days so I could rest. Ive been up all night with her and my fever got to 100.2 yesterday. Sometimes pregnancy just ain't so pretty lol

  19. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: you are not whiny!! At least no whinier than any of the rest of us uncomfortable, pregnant mamas to be are I'm so so sorry that you have had a rough second tri. I've had a rough day today-nauseous, crampy, and generally under the weather. It's just so hard to feel yucky all the time!

The past hour has been SO SLOW!! I dropped off DS at school at 7 and came home, thinking that an hour should go by fast, cause we have to leave for the OB at 8. Nope. Longest. Hour. Ever.

I got sooo much done, lol. At least now my DH thinks I''m pretty productive in the mornings, lol. I haven't even had any coffee! (Thanks to the glucose test)

  21. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@CharityAnne: Lol I actually did the ice cube and salt last night. I am also quite a crazy person when it comes to cold sores. I will have to try the vanilla extract and see what happens *sigh* hopefully all of this will help.

@luckypenny: Oh man a fever is no good. A fever is the only way that they will give you anything for your problems at the doctor though, lol. At least that is what they made me believe. They said if a fever accompanied any of my symptoms they would be giving me something.

@LovelyPlum: It is hard to feel yucky. Here I was expecting a glorious 2nd tri since it is supposed to be, but I should have known that because my first was so good my 2nd wouldn't feel the same. I hope you feel better too. I am starting to think being pregnant in the winter isn't all it is cracked up to be, lol. Apart from the cold weather for the hot flashes, it is also cold/flu season and easier to feel sick.

@Dandelion: Good luck!! The time always seems to go slow when you're anticipating something.

@luckypenny: @LovelyPlum: I don't know how you girls are holding out!! I NEED to know!! lol My appointment is on Thursday and I am dying.

Have you all started to think about names? I have two girl names completely decided (and DH loves) but holy cow boy names! Not a clue. I thought of one yesterday that was really cute and my husband said no way and it sounded like a last name. My hormones and I kind of wanted to punch him.

@jill_a55: I am convinced men suck at picking names, lol. I thought of some more names, and DH turned 3 of the 4 down.

Sorry I haven't posted in so long. I forgot my password and it took forever to get it again.

Things are looking great 19 weeks today. Genetic Testing came back with amazing results. We found out on Tuesday we are having a BOY! Shocked but excited (For some reason I just always thought it would be a girl). Name is picked out because it was our name either way (boy or girl).

2nd Tri is definitely better, just still tired and the heartburn sucks. I am trying to eat better as I gained 16 pounds in first 17 weeks. My doctor was fine with it but I think it was about 5 pounds too much.

We don't go back until 11/25 for my next visit.

@LovelyPlum: I'm definitely thinking about gear. I actually bit the bullet and started a registry last weekend and am having a few mommy friends read it to see if anything is glaringly missing or totally unnecessary.

    @Dandelion: Ah! Yayyyy!

@NY_Smiles: Welcome back and yay for a boy!

So I think I really popped a bit this week--feeling like I look a lot bigger than just a few days ago. Also new today is stabby pains in my boobs, ow! What's that? NOT a fan!

@jill_a55: lol, I don't know either, but it just something I always knew I wanted to do. Maybe I'm weird

@luckypenny: not really, but if I had to guess, I would say boy. You?

@NY_Smiles: Welcome back! Glad you're starting to feel better

@LovelyPlum: I think girl. My body is doing similar things that it did with DD but who knows lol. I never had a feeling with DD.

@Kate6214: Oh my gosh. I must have missed your update, and I try and make sure to pay close attention for that reason. I am so sorry and will correct that immediately.

@jill_a55: we have pretty much decided on a boy name but have NO clue for a girl. we have our anatomy scan on wed am so we will either get to use our boy name or have to get serious on picking a girl name!

@HazelEyes: totally had some of that stabby boob pain today too. not a fan of that!
