Question: How long could you go without a kitchen sink?!

I'm at 1 week right now and I'm going crazy! We are renovating the kitchen so I also don't have an oven or microwave, until Monday. But the sink will get installed with the counter tops - which will be the first week of December! So we're talking close to 3 weeks of washing dishes in the hallway bathroom sink/tub.

I keep telling myself better now than after baby comes!

And I can finally, partially breathe out of my nose today! How are all the other sicklies doing?

    @jhd: Hooray for a boy!!!!

@PEAPIE: Oh man, living without a kitchen sink would be TOUGH. I have weird germ issues so washing in the bathroom sink would gross me out. But I would love to renovate and have the kitchen of my dreams so I could live with it knowing the end picture. I'm still sick too. This morning I coughed up a quarter sized thing of green mucus (TMI I know!). Its been 8 days now and I'm over it. I'm pushing fluids like crazy and resting but it is really not getting any better.

@luckypenny: Gosh lady. I hear you on the green stuff, me too. But I usually get that at the end of the cold for a couple days and then it goes away. If it lasts much longer I would maybe go to the doctor ... ? ... just because a couple of years ago I got a cold turned bronchitis and the doctor refused to give me antibiotics because "I didn't have asthma and I didn't smoke" so I would be able to fight it off on my own... WELL... It took me THREE MONTHS to get over the whole thing. And that was non-preggo. I just think some times, you need a little extra help to fight off sickness. Take care of yourself! Hang in there!

@PEAPIE: we are also planning to remodel our kitchen before the baby comes. wow! 1 week without a kitchen sink would be annoying. i'm sure it will be worth it to have your kitchen all fixed up but that must be annoying!

@luckypenny: we're excited! i hate you are so sick. feel better!

@PEAPIE: yeah DH thinks it may be bronchitis now and we are going out of town Monday for a whole week. Blehhh.

    @jhd: thanks lady

@jhd: congrats on the boy!! and I hope you start to feel better soon!!

@luckypenny: I hope you start to feel better soon so you can enjoy your trip!!

@PEAPIE: I think I could go for a while without it... it would be annoying and inconvenient, but I am not exactly the worlds best cook so I could do take out and paper plates for a while!

1 Hour until my ultrasound appointment and I am DYYYYYING. I haven't seen the baby since like 7 or 8 weeks and it looked like a little gummy bear!

Oh my gosh, so much excitement on this thread, especially with finding out the sexes (TG, mad respect!). I've been away the past week on a business trip and haven't been able to log on. It was brutal but it was my last one, so it was nice to get it out of the way. Unfortunately I got a cold and I'm jet-lagged BUT we have our anatomy scan tomorrow so I'm just hanging on and trying not to complain. Baby girl moves so much on some days and other days, not so much. Think someone asked if that was normal and it is, so try not to worry. I'm officially 20 weeks tomorrow, can't believe we're all around the halfway mark! So crazy!

PS - my EDD is 4/11 for the next time the boards are updated, thank you!!

@jhd: congratulations on your boy! And I'm sorry you're sick again. I hope you feel better soon.

@PEAPIE: oh my gosh, that would be tough. But I agree, better now than after the baby comes. // I'm glad you're feeling better. I had a setback the last few days. Yesterday, while I was at work, my boss told me twice to go home-I was feeling OK, but apparently I didn't look so hot. By the time I got home, I could tell that I was going downhill quickly. I have off on Thursdays, so I spend most of the day in bed with a fever and cramps, both of which seem to be gone now. But I'm still feeling off. I was grateful to be able to do nothing today. I cannot wait for this weekend, when we have no plans!

@luckypenny: take care of yourself lady! Bronchitis is nothing to mess with. I've had it before, and it's awful when you're not pregnant. I hope you're on the mend very soon. And thanks!

@nana87: thanks! And yeah, French is seriously giving me a run for my money. I read Spanish, so I thought this would be easy. HA. French verb conjugations are not my friend.

@jill_a55: how did it go?? Were you all going to find out today?

@SupernovaJ: glad you got it out of the way. That sounds hard, even when not pregnant! Have fun at your scan, and congrats on 20 weeks! I can't believe we're halfway-where does the time go????

It's a boy! I've been looking at adorable little onesies with suspenders on them all day and trying to come up with names... This is going to be a tough one!

I was a little bummed at first because I really wanted a girl, but I love the idea of a girl having a big brother to look after her. Plus it's adorable how excited my DH is!! My doctor said the computer dated me at 4/2, but that we'd keep the original date of 4/7.

@jill_a55: so exciting!! Congrats on boy!!

@PEAPIE: ooof no sink would be hard! I don't think we'd cook much

@luckypenny: oh gosh, I'd def call your dr soon if it doesn't turn around soon!

@LovelyPlum: I did Spanish too, and yes it was definitely way easier than French!

  23. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@nana87: I'm doing both French and Spanish too. Um not sure why, but I have had it in my head forever that I wanted to teat in French. I'm in a French class now, and it is kicking my butt. But I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Here's hoping... I won't test until the spring for this one, though, so I have a ways to go.

So is anyone here cooking for Thanksgiving? We are going to my sister's, so I am just bringing pie. But I love to cook for Thanksgiving!

  25. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@LovelyPlum: for my field, I had to do Spanish and either French or German, but apparently the German exam is even harder than French! It seriously kicked all my classmates' butts.

for Thanksgiving, we're going to my in-laws', but dh will do all the cooking! I love having a husband who cooks: I will be jet-lagged (flying back to the US on Monday) and get to lounge gloriously and cuddle with our dogs while he does all the work I mean, I miiight help a little, but usually mil is his sous-chef and dh likes to cook by himself (and take all the credit!)

  26. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@LovelyPlum: We aren't handling Thanksgiving this year, but I am always told I have to make my green bean casserole and my famous pumpkin cream cheese pie. So that is the most cooking I will be doing since our AS is the day before Thanksgiving. Luckily the pie is a no bake!

  27. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@nana87: gotcha. Theoretically, Europeanists here have to test in two languages, but my advisor only makes us test in one. But I have come across a couple of times where I needed French, so I'm trying for that one. Since I already know Spanish, I figure I might as well test in that one, too. DH had to learn German, and he tried to teach me, but I sorta gave up on that one. Maybe someday

And your Thanksgiving sounds fabulous! Are you doing anything special to incorporate the first night of Hanukkah?

  28. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: I want to come to your house for that pie!!!!! Seriously, YUM.

  29. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@LovelyPlum: we are technically celebrating thanksgivingkuh! We will have jelly doughnuts for one of our desserts since that's a Hanukah thing, plus we do a secret Santa type gift exchange. Still need to find my gift! I got my mil and I don't know what to get for under $15...

  30. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@nana87: we are doing thanksgivakuh too! Luckily I'm not doing any cooking this year so I can just be lazy

  31. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@LovelyPlum: i cannot wait for thanksgiving! we now live near my parents so we will go to their house on friday and spend thanksgiving day with my in-laws who live about 2 hours away. MIL always insists i don't need to bring anything. i will probably help my mom bake pies on wed. we usually do pumpkin and sometimes cherry or pecan. or sometimes we go untraditional and do a trifle. yum! so basically no, i'm not cooking for thanksgiving. but i hope we can host next year since our kitchen will be redone and it will be LO's first.

    @nana87: Thanks!

@LovelyPlum: We go to my mom's every year (like 3 minutes away.) So I always help cook the night before and day of... But my husband for the last two years has made his own turkey just for fun (he looks up crazy recipes on food network and tries them) and it turns out AMAZING every time... so he's been put in charge of the second turkey officially

No cooking for me this year -- I am barely up to that task. I love cooking, normally, but it's a challenge right now. Plus I'm working all day Wednesday and we'll have to travel Thursday morning to get to my parents' house, so there's hardly any time for me to prepare something. I bought a chocolate peanut butter pie from a student who was fundraising

BUT my little brother's going to be home from California (we're from NJ) and I haven't seen him since June, so I'm SO excited.

Found out today that there's a case of whooping cough in school, so I've got a call into my doctor to get a Dtap booster. I had one five or so years ago, but I think I might need another to be safe.

@jhd: My kids asked today if they could vote on what they think is the sex of the baby, and I thought of your awesome bulletin board. I share a room, so no bulletin board for me, but I love that they're so excited.

This is my last weekend of a research trip abroad! Dh is here so we're doing touristy things
