@nana87: YAY!! That's happened twice to me in the last few days. It's so exciting

How were your weekends? I went to pre-natal yoga for the first time yesterday, and it was SO AWESOME! I've been feeling a little down lately, because I've been feeling a bit more fat than pregnant. But I have to say that yoga was super empowering, and I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. I can't wait to go back! Yay for getting to concentrate on me and the baby

Now, if only I could move today, we'd be in great shape

    @nana87: Lol sweet!!

@LovelyPlum: I wish we had offerings like that here. I live in too small of an area unless I want to travel an hour and a half, which in a ND winter? No thanks, hehe. I probably could have used some yoga for my back last night. I helped DH load our 100 pound Saint in the bathtub since he decided to dig in the yard and got all muddy, so my upper back wasn't feeling the best yesterday evening. I did find some pregnancy safe stretches, and they helped.

@megz06: I wouldn't want to drive that far, either. I hope that your back feels better. Maybe a prenatal yoga DVD? I've heard there's some good ones out there. Stretching has helped me a lot. My back has been bugging me, too, but mostly because my boobs are approaching ridiculous size, and they are straining my back. I hope yours feels better soon!

BTW, you're in ND? I didn't realize that. How cool! Have you guys had a lot of snow already?

@LovelyPlum: prenatal yoga sounds great! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't think there are any classes like that where I live but I should check just in case!

It felt like Christmas this am! DH & I did a little shopping for the nursery over the weekend at Ikea. I woke up to find he had put all baby's stuff together. And can I just brag and say he was the sweetest this weekend spending hours walking around Buy Buy Baby & Ikea. I didn't realize how much I needed some time away & the overnight shopping trip just really made me feel so much better.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!

@LovelyPlum: I think I am going to check out some prenatal yoga. I do have birthing classes coming up, and they are supposed to give some exercise and stretching techniques as well, but I think I need a DVD too. And yes I am in ND hehe. I downplay winter storms becuase I a so used to them, but we got an inch or two last week, but nothing major yet. Not supposed to snow all week, so I am happy. Then I can make it to my AS appointment!

@jhd: Sounds like a great shopping trip!! And I am an idiot...please explain what your picture is about that you posted. I'm like, I don't know why there is numbered stuff with baskets!!

  7. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

I also forgot to mention...we didn't want to tell anyone until closer to Christmas, but my mom is blackmailing us (all in good fun but she claims she won't care for our dog on the weekends if we don't tell her right away lol). Well two can play at that game!

So DH and I have decided to make it miserable for her. She hates balloons (like is deathly afraid of them popping), so on Thanksgiving we are showing up with a black balloon filled with boy or girl confetti and she has to pop that sucker or I guess she just will never know. Plus she has to clean up a confetti mess after. Serves her right for saying, "I need to know right away or Napoleon doesn't have a babysitter on the weekends anymore." *sticks tongue out*

She is going to freak out, and I am going to do everything I can to make sure no one else pops the balloon for her. We are buying her goggles, in case anyone thinks I am really that bad of a daughter, lol. I will still have video and pics, so hopefully everything goes the way I want it to

@megz06: lol the numbered baskets actually have nothing to do with anything. DH just stuck them on top b/c he thinks they are cute. there are a few different options at ikea for these drawer things. they're supposed to be for toy storage. i just liked it and the colors. they have pink and light green drawers too.

@jhd: Haha see? I do have 'idiot' stamped on my forehead. That's a good idea for toy storage. My friend suggested one of those mesh stuffed animal holders that you put in the corner of a room. She said it was so nice when he brother would pick up his stuffed animals he would just throw them up there.

It's a BOY! I posted a lengthier response in appointments, but all in all it was amazing, and our experience with the ultrasound this time around was much, much better compared to our other two. Couldn't ask for a better day and a more handsome little man

Sorry I've been MIA ladies I am still sick! Things were looking better but woke up with the worst congestion and cough this AM. The Dr had written me a prescription for antibiotics but I'm anxious to take them. Waiting to see how I feel until tomorrow.

How exciting that there's so many boys!

@LovelyPlum: @megz06: I love prenatal yoga! Bought a DVD and I love doing it in the mornings. DD thinks its funny to watch me.

@jhd: awww Yay for buying some things for Baby

We bought our double stroller this week! We decided on the city select by baby jogger and they were also having a buy now, get the 2nd seat for free deal at BBB!

We have been spending the week in FL with FIL & SMIL. They've actually been really great and DD is adjusting super well. I was thinking the trip wouldn't go this smoothly so it's been a pleasant surprise with relatively few hiccups (like them taking DD to play with neighbors two huge dogs without my permission!). Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving

@luckypenny: I hate to hear you are still sick! But glad you are having a good visit in FL!

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@luckypenny: I am so sorry you're still sick. That is miserable. I really hope that you start to feel better soon.

@megz06: how did the balloon thing go??

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Ours was really great, but I think I overdid it a bit. In the last week, I have started to feel the baby kick, and he/she had me up for two hours on Thursday night. Combine that with heartburn, and I was not a happy camper. But it is good to know that little one is doing well when I feel movement! And baby was nice enough to let me sleep last night, so I'm a happier mama today

In other (gross) news, is anyone else super super gassy? I know that hormones slow down digestion and can make you gassy, but GEEZ. I could kill a man with this gas!

  17. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@LovelyPlum: lol you made me giggle about the gas. mine hasn't been too awful yet.

I was just going to post the same as @LovelyPlum: How was everyone's Thanksgiving?

The highlight for me was hosting my family on Fri eve for appetizers and desserts to celebrate my dad's bday.

I also got some time to clean and get a litte more stuff unpacked. And I bought our first Christmas tree yesterday at Target + a maternity black cardi.

I'm a little bit anxious about returning to work tomorrow. Mondays are very overwhelming for me lately, but once I get through Monday I usually do fine the rest of the week. And hopefully our school secretary can refrain from calling me "huge" this week. I'm generally a pretty quiet person, but I'm afraid I may have to say something if she comments for a third time!

Anyway hope everyone is doing well and had a wonderful holiday weekend!!

  18. megz06

@LovelyPlum: OMG I totally forgot to post a link to the video!!

It went amazing, and she was so upset about the balloons, but in a funny good way, lol. She popped them all, and all we had was green confetti in them. We then brought in the actual balloon, and she was SO surprised that it was a boy. She is super excited though and keeps calling the baby "Earl." And she, like, loudly says it at my belly. She's like, "I LOVE YOU, EARL." I don't understand, lol, but I told her his name will NOT be Earl...

@jhd: Sounds like you had a really good Thanksgiving. I didn't go out on Black Friday since I had to work, but I did shop online at Old Navy and got a ton of cute stuff to wear (and a ton of baby stuff of course). My only practical purchase for baby (practical meaning not onsies lol) was a portable changing pad. I wanted to purchase that myself rather than leave it to the registry.

[Edit] Oh wow I totally didn't know posting a link would place the video right there. I hope that's ok!

@megz06: that video is too funny! and yay for buying stuff for baby!!! i actually bought our stroller last night. i figure noone will want to buy it. (MIL already thinks I'm crazy for wanting an expensive stroller) so when I saw the city mini strollers at 30% off on amazon i told DH we had to get one!!

  21. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@jill_a55: Lol thanks. My mom is a very loud and boisterous woman with a terrific sense of humor. When she watched this, she said, "I'm such an idiot. I can't believe I say the things I do." I told her she is funny and to keep being herself.

@jhd: A stoller was the FIRST thing someone said they wanted to call dibs on. I bet someone would have bought it. It seems people are really giving and willing to spend $$$ when it comes to a baby, BUT if you got a good deal why not? I stalked Amazon Black Friday as well as today, and they have some of my items marked way down. It is so hard not to snatch all that up!!

    @megz06: that video is hilarious!

My Thanksgiving went well. Our first time hosting. We did a little BF shopping.

Feeling a little crampy/achy today though. Glad to finally be at the halfway point.

    @LovelyPlum: super gassy here too!

    @megz06: that's adorable! what a cute idea.

@jhd: nice deal! we got a stroller this weekend too, my parents gifted us the Cruz because of a really sweet deal on giggle.com! My mil just bought me a diaper bag on sale too (Kate Spade is having a site wide sale--30% off with the code CYBER30). I've never been into Black Friday before but now that we have so many big purchases to make, it's pulling me in!

Our Thanksgiving was pretty nice! We're with my in-laws and will be here all week, but I'm really ready to go home--I basically came straight from being abroad for research, I haven't been back to my apartment since November 5! I want my own bed (and snoogle!) and normal daily routine back!

@luckypenny: Hope you're feeling better by now?! What a marathon sickness! Poor lady! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving!

@LovelyPlum: Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I've had heartburn too! More like acid reflux though... I have it no matter what I eat and even when I don't eat anything! It's so annoying. But no gas over here. Thank goodness!

@jhd: Yikes... "Huge"? Really?! That would get old really fast... I'm sure you are NOT huge. Hope your Monday is going well!

@megz06: Thanks for sharing your video! That was soooo funny! I have to say I feel like my mom was hard core team pink... and I kind of wonder if she was just a tad bit disappointed when the cake was blue inside... but she didn't show it if she was.

@nana87: There's no place like home. Are you done with your research for good or do you have to go back?

@tbuzz: I hosted Thanksgiving ONCE. It's a lot of work! Glad it went well for you guys!

I had big week last week! The gender reveal party and Thanksgiving! It's always nice to have family time. We all get along and have a lot of fun together.

I think my belly officially popped out with a little help from thanksgiving and left over gender reveal cake! But just a tiny bump so far. I can't wait to fill out my maternity shirts though!

We got a stroller over the weekend too! We got a BOB Revolution SE... our neighborhood has an unpaved walking/hiking trail so we needed the heavy duty suspension. But there was a deal going on that we got the matching Britax B-safe infant car seat for free! We weren't planning on doing an infant car seat, but since it's free, we'll use it I'm sure. And then we'll also have the convertible. So we're covered for the foreseeable future!

Now we're working on boy names... which are a million times harder than girl names, btw.

  26. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@PEAPIE: def no place like home! My dissertation research will be a very long process (like, multiple years), but I am done with going abroad for research until after the baby is born! I'll be in Boston for like 2 months this winter for a different part of my project, but that'll be much easier: I'll be able to go back and forth for appointments in NYC, and dh and the pups will come with me! Waaay more manageable than being across the ocean!

@jhd: @LovelyPlum: @PEAPIE: thanks ladies. The antibiotics worked miracles and I was pretty much better by the second day. So I guess it was just a crappy sinus infection all along!

@megz06: omg! The balloon idea is so fun

@LovelyPlum: I haven't had bad gas but my constipation is OUT OF CONTROL! I literally went 7 days this week. I think I need to start taking Colace daily or something I'm going to try some green smoothies with flax seed too

@nana87: @jhd: @PEAPIE: doesn't having a stroller around make it seem so real?! Our double just arrived! EEK!

@PEAPIE: boy names are SO HARD! I swear we have 10 girl names and only 1 boy name and we can't even think of a middle lol

  32. gilmoregirl

@PEAPIE: Yes, omg, boy names are so hard. We've had a girl name picked since before we were even married, but boy names have us stumped! We're working on a list of favorites, and I think we'll pick when we meet him in March/April

I've been so busy with thanksgiving and end of the semester stuff. I don't get on HB a lot recently. But I'm done with classes next week so then I can concentrate totally on LO.

I've had quite an appetite lately...I worry about my weigh in next week! I don't really think I look/feel like I gained a lot though. It's all in my belly.

I go back Thursday for another progesterone shot. They're not bad at all.

  34. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@Dandelion: it's not fair being preggo during the holidays! On one hand I love that I have an "excuse" but then I go crazy and gain too much weight! I'm taking it easy until Christmas. I'm so glad now that I'm feeling better I can work out again!

    Hi everyone,

I've been keeping up but quiet for a bit with nothing to report, but this past weekend DH felt a kick/punch/headbutt--which he was SUPER excited about, esp since the doc said it would probably be a few more months for that. Then last night Baby was going nuts and we could actually see the kicks from the outside! So fun

Glucose test on Thursday... (why did I schedule it for the week after Thanksgiving gluttony??) and our nursery furniture is coming that day too!

@nana87: I totally cried in Hunger Games at the beginning too! Caught myself by surprise!
@LovelyPlum: unfortunately yes with the gas--and it creeps up and surprises me! Luckily its only been embarrassing with DH and not someplace public
@luckypenny: I have to say the Colace has been a godsend for me. I tried stopping for a few days and it was not good. Dr. said it was totally ok to take the rest of the pregnancy--so that's what I'll be doing!

  37. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@PEAPIE: I think my mom was like yours--maybe secretly disappointed but really didn't show it. She did say she wanted to dress it like a girl and was looking forward to that, but yet she couldn't stop (and still can't) talking about her grandson. And I agree. Boy names are SO much harder than girl names. We already have a name decided, but it was the only name we could agree on whereas girl names we agreed on about 3-5.

I felt baby kick from the outside last night right when we went to bed, so I had DH place his hand on my tummy and I'd tell him when he would kick. Baby kicked, and I was like, "Did you feel that?!" DH had fallen asleep in that short, 5 minute time frame so he slept through it if he did, lol. I am starting to write down when I feel flutters or a definite kick so I can see if this little guy is on a pattern or not.

  38. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@PEAPIE: @megz06: I think my mom was a little disappointed about the sex too, she really wanted me to have a boy since this lo will be her third grandchild and third granddaughter! But both my brother and I are planning on having more kids so she has more chances for a grandson.

  39. PEAPIE

@nana87: @HazelEyes: Oh yeah, I forgot! Catching Fire! I cried too! But it was suuuuuch a good movie. I'm slightly upset they're splitting up the last book into two movies. More wait time, but on the other hand, more movie!

@luckypenny: @gilmoregirl: @megz06: Well we at least know baby boy's middle name with be either hub's first or middle name... so that's helpful. Kind of!

@megz06: Let's hope she was kidding about dressing your son like a girl! She's so funny!

@nana87: Aw. Yeah. I know my in-laws have three granddaughters... and were really rooting for a boy. So they finally got their boy! My parents, this is their first so it didn't matter... except personal preference. But in general, I'm sure our families are excited no matter what. It's not like we can control it! Really. And girl cousins will have a blast!!!

@PEAPIE: girl cousins will be so much fun! my youngest niece was born April 1 of this year so they'll be almost exactly 1 year apart--hopefully that means they'll be good buddies
