April 2014 Mamas!

@Dandelion: Ouch. I'd be real upset with my mom. I found out after we went public my mom told her BFF and one other person. I asked how how she'd have felt if she told someone not to tell and they did (my mom had 5 miscarriages before me). It kind of shut her down a bit and she apologized, but it's like come on. It's not their information to tell.

@nana87: I'm sorry that happened to you; it really does stink when people aren't more respectful of your privacy & your right to share your news when you choose to. I had a similar experience at work, and I am still kinda worked up about it.

@Dandelion: Yikes, that is a little intrusive to ask, too. I'm sorry that happened to you.

@megz06: my mom shut down real quick too when I said something after being surprised at work about someone knowing. She said she "misunderstood" about me not wanting her to tell. I'm not sure how I was unclear. She said she told the church because she wanted them to pray for me but she could've asked them to pray for me without spilling info.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!! I felt the baby move the past two nights and I'm so excited!!! I thought I had felt something before (and probably did!) but these two times were unmistakeable.

Bought our very first baby items yesterday because Halloween costumes were 75% off at babies R us. So now baby has a lion costume and a set of pumpkin butt jammies waiting for him. My husband hung them in our hall closet and we both keep sneaking peeks of them hanging in there. So cute! So exciting!

@gilmoregirl: how exciting! So smart to look for a Halloween costume on sale for next year. I may have to steal that idea!

@gilmoregirl: Aww that is so cute! And if you get a deal how can you pass it up? Before we were even TTC, I went on Amazon, and they had a St. Bernard costume for 6-12 month olds on sale for 12 bucks (originally it was 30 some I believe) so I snatched it right up. We have a Saint, so I knew that was what I wanted my child to dress up as.

@gilmoregirl: love that! Also, @megz06: that is an AWESOME costume!

How's everyone doing on this fine Monday? I am super sleeeeepy. I usually drink decaff coffee in the morning, but I think I'm breaking out the big guns soon!

@LovelyPlum: I'm sleepy, too. I'm glad I have no classes tomorrow so that I can nap all day.

@Dandelion: good call! That's my Thursdays. The good news is that I am no longer sleepy. The bad news is that I am now super HUNGRY and have been all day. Can't. Stop. Eating. Maybe I preferred being sleepy...

    Hey Ladies!

It's fun to hear y'all are shopping for baby stuff and maternity clothes! I know everyone is pretty far ahead of me but I just hit 15 weeks and time feels like it's flying by.

I finally retired my normal jeans this week... I was tired of constantly pulling them up! The rubber band thing was driving me bonkers. But still no bump to show off... ugh. I do have quite the bellow-the-belly-button-fluff though.

I've had a fairly constant lower back ache lately, so maybe baby is hugging my spine instead of sticking out the front? Is that anatomically possible? I've also had crazy RLP the past couple days so hoping that means growth spurt! And I'm with y'all on the hunger. I just bought a costco size bag of the peppermint dipped Rold Gold pretzels and it is taking every ounce of self control for me to not eat the whole bag at once. Try them, they're so goooooood.

We have our first group appointment on Wednesday. I'm so curious to see how it's set up and excited to meet the other couples. I still have yet to buy anything for baby. Not sure what my problem is, but it might have to do with the fact that baby's room is currently packed with construction materials as we are doing major home renovations. So once we're done, it's shopping time!

I'm starting to think about our "Gender Reveal" party... Anyone else doing one? If you're finding out the gender of course...

***ETA!!!! I failed to update y'all on a major life event!!!!***
Last month I accidentally ate a meatball (haha!) at an open house, not thinking it could have gluten in it. I've been avoiding gluten for over two years because I get severe (unpleasant) reactions. Well, I didn't get sick! So I've been very cautiously allowing myself one serving here and there of something non-gluten free and it has been amazing!!!!! Maybe that's why the pretzels taste SO GOOD. (I was thinking y'all might think I'm crazy for eating pretzels if I'm intolerant, haha! I think I mentioned that I was at some point, because it's no fun!) But I'm so thankful. Especially since this will be my first thanksgiving/christmas that I get to eat like a normal person in three years! And hopefully post-baby I'll still be symptomless! Anyway... big deal for me! haha.

@PEAPIE: we invited both our moms to the anatomy scan so i doubt we will do a gender reveal party but i would maybe like to do something with my students at school. maybe have them vote the day before & then bring something pink or blue (or just wear a pink or blue shirt!). but i definitely think a party would be fun...our families just aren't party people lol

@PEAPIE: and btw i LOVE those pretzels. so good! hope that crazy RLP gets more manageable

@Dandelion: yay for naps tomorrow i took today off to get things settled in the new house but DH kept interrupting when I tried to nap. Grrr maybe tomorrow. School is closed for Election Day .

@LovelyPlum: I haven't been super hungry today but I swear some days it feels like all I do is eat!!

    @jhd: that's a cute idea!!

@PEAPIE: we did a gender reveal for DD but we are staying team green this time.

I have an anatomy scan Thursday and DH isn't coming. He's the one who really wanted to be TG so it's going to be really hard not to "peek" and try to figure it out for myself.

@PEAPIE: no gender reveal party for us, I'm way too impatient! we just started spreading the news as soon as we found out this morning! It's been less than 11 hours since our anatomy scan and I've already told our parents, my brother, and two of my best friends, haha

  19. PEAPIE

@nana87: Did you tell us?! Did I miss it?! I need to check the Appointments board!

So exciting everyone is nearing that point of finding out the sex (if you aren't TG)! I've been so curious to know. We have a scan this Friday at 18 weeks so I'm hoping we find out then.

Beginning 16 weeks I started feeling some movement, and as of today at 17.5 weeks, the movement is becoming slightly stronger and more consistent. It is weird!! Feels like the slightest bubbles and dull popping sensations. Anyone else!? It's crazy to think it's a little person and not gas. The movement is noticeably closer to the surface of my stomach, and not as far "deep" into my stomach. So weird.

  21. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@PEAPIE: Ok. I am going to get in on some of that pretzel action because they sound delicious. We are not doing a gender reveal. We are keeping the gender a secret until Christmas. If I was REALLY daring I would have the US tech put the gender in an envelope and open it on Chirstmas as a gift to us, but I am not sure I would have the willpower. I have also seen that taken one step further and you go to the store and pick out a boy outfit and a girl outfit and have the cashier open the envelope and ring up and wrap which outfit is the right one and then you open it too.

@SupernovaJ: So happy you are feel movement! I feel the same sort of thing, but mind comes and goes. I think I have a very stubborn baby. The bubbles have definitely moved. They were nestled way down on my left side. Now they have moved to the middle by my belly button, but they are very few and far between. I thought being I am so still and quiet at work he/she would move more, but nope. Only at night when I'm slumped on the couch (and I haven't had movement for a few days now).

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@PEAPIE: great update! I'm excited for you to be able to eat awesome Thanksgiving food Also, those pretzels sound DANGEROUS.

@luckypenny: stay strong!!! We're TG too, so our gender reveal party will be in the delivery room

@SupernovaJ: I'm starting to feel it, too! I think I got a good swift kick over the weekend, which is cool, and crazy! But then I go a few days without feeling anything, which makes me nervous that maybe I was making it all up to begin with.

I'm super excited to see what everyone else is having!

Everything I have felt has been low, low, low, but I've had some pretty good bops from baby. It's probably the only thing I enjoy about pregnancy so far But I really love feeling the little bops.

  24. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

I'm so jealous that you all are feeling some movement! Nothing here yet, I can not wait to feel her moving around!

  25. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@gilmoregirl: I don't know if this was baby or not, but it was pretty suspicious. I felt a low bop, and I IMMEDIATELY dropped everything I was doing and was like, "Oh dear God I have to pee!" I made a mad dash to the bathroom. Dh was so confused. I am the queen of holding it, and what was weird is I just went bathroom, like, a half an hour prior to that. I am not sure if baby is capable of doing that, but it was suspicious!

  26. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: that does sound suspicious! I've felt a few swift kicks to the ribs, and a few to the bladder, but nothing consistent

In other news, I want a breast reduction Right. Now. These things are out of control, and I am so over it. I am big to begin with (H cup) and they won't.stop.growing. Gaaahhhhhhh. DH seems to like it, but I don't want him anywhere NEAR them. Seriously, I'm over it.

    Anyone else?

  27. HazelEyes

    clementine / 811 posts

@PEAPIE: that is exciting, I know gluten is in eeeverything.

I'm feeling little kicks/twitches/pops more frequently too, which is really fun Especially when I'm lying still. @gilmoregirl: They've been low for me too, but I dont know if that has more to do with my anterior placenta or, just that Baby's hanging out down there.

Ah! Our "anatomy scan" is tmw, and with more an more people finding out, including two close friends due on either side of me it is making it reaaaally hard to stick to team green. It would be a really nice birthday surprise for me this weekend. Bah! Just need to make it to the other side of the appt, I think, and I"ll be good. I just need to focus on being excited for another viewing of our little Bean.

  28. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@HazelEyes: stay strong!!! I'm worried about wavering, too. But the surprise at the end will be worth it!

@HazelEyes: You are strong! I'm dying to know what this baby is! 9 more days!! I'm getting so impatient and I'm driving DS crazy because I bring it up all the time, lol.

@LovelyPlum: Lmao. I'm so sorry! My boobs are a C and haven't changed much in size. They are just, well, fugly. Yes, I said fugly. DH likes them, but they look like something out of a National Geographic magazine to me.

  32. PEAPIE

    apricot / 344 posts

@megz06: @LovelyPlum: HAHA! Y'all are cracking me up! Aw. I was excited to buy a bigger bra! From B to C. But I am definitely sick of my nipples hurting. Turning over in bed gets me every time! Don't ask me how I end up pinching my nipples when I turn over, but I do. Haha!

  33. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@LovelyPlum: my boobs haven't actually grown yet! well, they have a little, but I can still fit into my pre-pregnancy bras...

  34. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@LovelyPlum: Mine haven't grown much, since they were just "grown" during my last pregnancy. They are tender, though.

  35. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@LovelyPlum: Oh gosh, yes. I was a C before, and I'm about to go through my second round of buying new bras. They're out of control. I mean, they look ok, but I am NOT used to this situation.

  36. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@HazelEyes: At my NT scan, the tech told me my placenta's posterior, so I think in my case the baby is just way down low. I'm using that as my explanation for why I'm 19 weeks and barely showing!

  37. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

Well, it happened: I sneezed today and peed my pants a little. In front of students! Fortunately I was in a dress with leggings, and it was the very end of the day, so not a total disaster but oh gosh. I am not prepared for this.

  38. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@gilmoregirl: Lol I'm sorry to laugh at your expense. The boards are funny today it seems. I'm so sorry. At least it was the end of the day....after that episode the other night where I ahd to get to a bathroom immediately I have contemplated sticking a pair of panties and dress pants in my car just to be safe.

  39. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@gilmoregirl: LOL, I'm sorry. It happened to me for the first time last week, and I called my mother to announce that I was officially a pregnant woman. She laughed at me. Thanks, Mom

And anyone who wants their boobs to be bigger but they haven't been can have a piece of mine. Seriously.

  40. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@gilmoregirl: I have been doing that for over a year now. Its getting really old. I'm sooooo tired of being pregnant!
