@jhd: I am trying! The further along I get, the less helpful I get at work. lol so I think I will be okay! I always feel so defeated though when I start to lose my energy at work. uuugh.
So I had my 36 week appointment today, and my doctor said that I have a big baby in there. yikes! I am tall and was a big baby so I didn't imagine I would have a 7 lb baby, but a girl can dream!! Hopefully the baby is just long and not like 10 lbs... but it's not looking good! Also found out that he doesn't allow you to go past 41 weeks, so at least I know there is an end date! Next week starts my weekly appointments and I get a cervical check every time... ouchies. Not looking forward to that!

Okay, here we go...list time!
Pre-register for hospital
install car seat
buy a few more items for hospital bag
pack hospital bag
finish maternity leave info for work
finish washing baby items
clean house
get carpet cleaned
Get a pedicure (hopefully!)
pick up breast pump (insurance covered!)
finish writing thank you notes (biggest procrastinator ever)
and possibly, you know, name our baby!
I think that is everything important, but I am sure there are 100 more things to do...
My mom and I went to buybuybaby today and I *think* we got everything I need... Ended up getting the fisher price little lamb swing! Hopefully LO will like it, but I am going to hold onto the box just in case..
apricot / 335 posts
@preggomeggo82: We actually had quite a few people buy off the registry, but there were a few items I was concerned about because everyone seemed to want the really inexpensive, not-necessary-right-now stuff. I had accepted early on that I would just be purchasing everything myself. Turns out a LOT of people printed off my registry, but bought the items elsewhere or very last minute. it kind of surprised me. The only thing I got double of was a gift bag (which my brother was not happy about since he felt oh so special for picking a paper bag out himself lol)
jill_a55: Cervix checks each time are not fun. I had one last time and will be having them every time going forward, and they are so not comfortable. As far as big babies go...I am in the same boat there too. The doc didn't say it exactly, but baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead. Both my brother and I were less than 8 pounds, so I'm hoping I deliver similar.
I don't have much for a to-do list!
-Steralize breast pump
-Shampoo carpets (my brand new carpet cleaner comes next week!)
-Get the dog in for a bath
-Ensure car seat is properly installed (which I hear they do at the hospital before you're allowed to leave as well)
My cousin goes in for her c-section today, so in about an hour she will have a little boy enter the world
watermelon / 14206 posts
@jill_a55: I never thought about pre-registering. I'm not even sure if I need to if I'm already scheduled to be there?
@megz06: congrats to your cousin!
I'm currently sitting here waiting on dr to come in for my group b test.I guess they're backed up cause I've been sitting here with a sheet on my lap forever. I hate waiting.
Walking in to the office today I just thought "I'm really tired of coming here" lol. I'm so sick of dr appointments!
watermelon / 14206 posts
I had my appointment today. I'm 1 cm dilated, which means nothing. I also had my group b strep test done, which I guess I'll find out next week.
This OB said LO still feels breech...last week at the hospital, a different OB said he felt him head down. I guess it doesn't quite matter, cause I'm having a c section, anyways, but it's still kinda funny. Next week's ultrasound will give me a real answer.
coconut / 8079 posts
@Dandelion: my ob told us to pre-register so that's the only reason i knew about it. they just took down medical history, had me sign paperwork, made copies of my insurance card, etc. but your case may be different since you have a scheduled c-section. i can't imagine how tired of doctor appointments you must be. just going to the hospital yesterday was enough to wear me out and i went to bed at 8!
but you only have a few more weeks to go!!
apricot / 448 posts
@megz06: At this point I will be relieved if he is under 10lbs!! I was over 9lbs and my husband's mom can't remember but says he was big too..
@Dandelion: I would imagine you could do it while you're there, but it just gets all your insurance information and stuff to the hospital ahead of time. I am trying to do it right now online, and should have just done it in person while at the tour, filling out insurance information confuses me!

Seems like this kid just likes to stick his limb (I'm not sure which one) out the side of the belly on a regular basis. It's always the same side, and it's starting to get sore! I try to rub his foot away, but then he pushes harder. I wish he would at least pick another spot to push!
coconut / 8079 posts
@Dandelion: ouch! I keep getting a limb or maybe head butt to the ribs while driving home from work.

Hope you ladies are all having a great weekend!
It's warm-ish and sunny here today and my sis called me up and took me shopping for baby. We got a bunch of great stuff for the fall/winter for hardly anything. I love bargain shopping! And the sunshine and time with my sister just made me feel better than I have all week.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@jhd: Nice! I love shopping for baby! Especially the bargains! I went overboard and am now on a shopping hiatus until after we move, since I have oodles of clothes for him for the first few months, lol.
It's nice and warm here, too. DH and I went over to my parents to help my dad with his crepe myrtles and play outside with DS.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@jill_a55: if it makes you feel any better they told me DD was probably 9 lbs and she was only 7.13 so you never know. They're estimates are almost always wrong one way or the other there is still hope!
@megz06: hooray for a short to do list! You're on top of things!
@jhd: glad you had a good time with your sister
@Dandelion: ugh I love crepe myrtles! They remind me of my moms house in charleston

@luckypenny: my fingers are crossed! I am absolutely terrified at the thought of having a c section and would love to not push out a 10 pounder!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I did absolutely nothing. Yesterday, I barely left the couch to finish a little coupon book for DH's "daddy day of survival basket" that I am making. It has a lot of food items in it for when we go to the hospital, but my favorite is a shirt I got him that says, "I (barely) survived the delivery room...it's a boy!"
Hopefully he likes it. I figure I will give it to him tomorrow after parent-teacher conferences since he will be burnt out from those and ready for a pick-me-up.

@jhd: yay for baby shopping!!
@megz06: aw that's a really sweet idea, I'm sure your dh will love it!
We had a meeting at the child care center this morning that I thought we got into last week--it turns out the director said they *may* have a spot for us, not that they definitely do, boooooo!!! I mean, I don't think they'd waste their and our time if they didn't think the spot was going to be open--they had us observe 2 different classrooms for about an hour altogether, and then we met with the director for like 30 mins. But now I'm anxious about it again! I this center so, so much, it's such a perfect fit for us!
Have you all bought nursing bras and tops yet? I'm thinking I should do that soon, but I have no idea about sizing! I'm actually still wearing pre-pregnancy bras (though they're definitely tighter than they used to fit) but I assume my boobs will get bigger with breastfeeding! I don't want to buy them now if they won't fit later, but I also want to have at least a couple for when baby first comes...
coconut / 8079 posts
@megz06: what a sweet idea! I'm sure your DH will love the basket
@nana87: I hope everything works out with your child care situation. It does seem strange that they would spend so much time without being certain about an available spot. Fx for you! And I talked with an LC who will be working with us and she said to go ahead and get bras now. I bought just one at target last week (they have coupons online right now for 20% off a nursing bra or cami). I may stick with just one real bra for now and just get a few sleep bras or nursing tanks for the hospital/first few weeks.
persimmon / 1141 posts
@nana87: I've bought 2 sleep-nursing bras and 2 regular nursing bras that snap down. most of my friends tell me they just let it all hang though, those first few weeks, lol.
I am starting to get major lower back pain and braxton hicks - two kinds - period like pain in the front with tightening right behind my navel, and then radiating back pain, also like period symptoms. At the end of the day I'm usually out of commission completely!
My doctor changed my due date to April 4 - it's just around the corner. Mat leave starts for me next Friday. Counting down the days.
In other news, finally succumbed to the guilt of procrastination and did a deep clean of the house that resulted in lots of donation bags, de-cluttering and unpacking / organizing everything. I guess we are ready...(not!)
coconut / 8079 posts
@SupernovaJ: so close! I hate you are feeling so uncomfortable. But yay for cleaning & getting ready for baby!
persimmon / 1141 posts
@jhd: I didn't think the back pain would be so sudden and intense, like clock work each night. Hopefully the baby is making her way down soon though!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@SupernovaJ: the thing about letting them hang is leaking! Wearing a bra you can at least feel dry with some breast pads.
@nana87: I just have a bunch of nursing sleep bras for now since they are stretchy. Once things calm down in production I'll see where I'm at for some decent maternity bras.
I had another nst today. Everything was good. Ultrasound is Thursday and in 2 weeks from today I get my baby!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@nana87: I really hope they have a spot for you!
@SupernovaJ: doesn't it feel so good though to deep clean?! I have made so many trips to goodwill/consignment and I STILL feel like I could do so much more decluttering!
@Dandelion: glad NST went well! 2 weeks!!!
persimmon / 1141 posts
@Dandelion: Lol, true...i forgot that boobs leak. let the good times roll. and i can't believe you'll have your little one in your arms so soon. awesome the nst went well
@luckypenny: it felt amazing deep cleaning. seriously felt like a load off my shoulders. i'm in full-on nest mode and i can't stop writing little to-do lists. i got some gift certs for massages so i think i'll book one every week until the baby gets here. lol.
anyone getting a final wax down there?? i'm trying to time my last one closest to the due date as possible.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@jhd: @SupernovaJ: @Dandelion: good to know, thanks! I'll try to go nursing-bra shopping sometime this week! I didn't realize there was a difference between regular and sleeping nursing bras (total noobie, haha), I think I'll try to find a couple of each plus a few tanks/camis
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@SupernovaJ: heck no! I waxed once with DD around 5 months and it hurt like hell. I'm just way too extra sensitive. You're brave lol

Hi ladies! I hope you're all having a good week. Spring break started last Friday for me, so I've been recovering from the first half of the semester and trying to get ahead. Oh, and you know, trying to get ready for baby
@jhd: @Dandelion: I'm super jealous of your warm weather! We're supposed to hit 45 today, and I can't wait. When I took the dog out yesterday morning, it was 4 degrees. Winter has not yet gotten the memo that it's spring on Thursday!!!
@megz06: your basket idea is so sweet! How did he like it?
@jill_a55: they haven't given me any indication of how big baby is, and at this point, I'm not sure I want to know. For me, in this case, ignorance is bliss
@nana87: I had to give up the ghost on my old bras over Christmas, and I bought two stretchy nursing bras. Best. Decision. Ever. I seriously how comfy they are! They're Cake brand. I've heard that by 6 weeks PP, your boobs even out, so I'll let these two get me through until then at least, at which point, I'll probably spring for another, more supportive one. I'm not buying many nursing tops, though-the camis don't get big enough for my bustline! // Also, I'm sorry about the center. I really do hope it works out. We're still on a waiting list for our preferred place, and it makes me realize that I should probably find a back up plan.
@SupernovaJ: that date is so soon! I'm sorry you're uncomfortable-you're not alone! I've been having more painful contractions, including some that radiate across my back, the last few days. And I am pretty sure baby is moving lower, too, possibly with a pick axe in his/her hands, given the amount of scratching at my cervix I've been feeling. Glad you have an end date to work!
@Dandelion: speak of breast pads, do you have a kind you like? I bought Lansinoh, since I'm leaking at night already, but they're kinda itchy. Also, I was thinking about you yesterday. I can't believe baby will be here so soon!!
@luckypenny: it feels SO good to get rid of things, especially before a move! We're clearing out our storage locker, because we have one in our new place, and I'm realizing how much more junk I want to pitch. Turns out I just hate clutter!
No waxing for me-I thought about it early on, but I never got around to it. Now, I just don't care. My legs, on the other hand, are a different story. I've been having swelling and headaches the last few days, and two nights ago, I woke up feeling like we might have to go in to triage to get checked out. But, I realized that I hadn't shaved in almost two weeks, and it was super itchy and uncomfortable. So, at 3 am, I took a bath and shaved, just in case. Turns out the bath helped the swelling go down and the headache to dissipate, so we didn't need to go in. But I made a pact with myself to keep up with the shaving from now until the end!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: are you getting excited to find out if E is going to have a little brother or a little sister? I'm finally thinking that I want to know if this is a boy or a girl!! Took long enough, lol. How about you, @HazelEyes: ?
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@LovelyPlum: hooray for spring break!! Also, I hope you get into your preferred day care as well!
@SupernovaJ: I've never gotten waxed down there, so that's a no go for me.
In fun news, my mom is planning on taking me for a pedicure next time she comes to visit I'll be 38 about weeks then, and since I can't really reach my feet easily now I'm sure it'll be so nice!
And much, much less fun: we had a sort of practice motn wake-up situation last night: our dog woke us up 4 times with diarrhea and vomiting. she seems okay now--it was probably something she ate (nyc streets are naaaasty!)--but dh and I were really snippy with each other during one of the wake ups (the worst one, we didn't get her outside in time...) and it made me really nervous about how grumpy we're going to be waking up all night soon! At least then it won't be unexpected, right? That has to make it better/less stressful?
apricot / 335 posts
@LovelyPlum: He loved it! I was going to give it to him tonight, but I caved and did it last night because he mentioned wanting a root beer float and Almond Joys, both of which were included in the basket. By the way with swelling add some epsom salt to your bath if you can. It really helps with the swelling. I was going through a bout of swelling a few weeks ago, and I did this, and I instantly felt better and looked better (no more cankles!!).
@nana87: Those people that say having a puppy is so much easier than having an infant...I have to wonder (and get a little scared). I guess I will find out soon, but we have a (almost) 11 month old Saint Bernard, and I feel prepared because we delt with him seizuring when he was a few months old, so we were up every hour with him. It was horrible. When we finally got him back on track and healthy, he started waking up up several times a night just to play or go out. So I am of the mindset that I am prepared for these so called sleepless nights.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@nana87: MOTN fights are the worst but have a talk now where you guys just give yourselves permission to have them and know that EVERYONE does it lol. Lack of sleep and being half awake does funny things to people. It still happens to DH and I with DD. We have a "what happens/is said in the MOTN doesn't mean anything" rule so when we wake up in the morning it's like it never happened.
@LovelyPlum: I'm DYING to know!!!! It's literally driving me crazy lol everyone keeps asking if I have any "feelings" about what it is but I really don't. Do you?
clementine / 811 posts
@LovelyPlum: Ugh, yes! I'm soooo impatient right now. Team green has been fine until now, but I want to know! It makes me crazy to think I could go any minute, but maybe not for another three weeks. My doc said she will induce me if I'm a week and a half late, so last possible date is April 9. That seems sooo far!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@megz06: thanks for the tip! I think I'm going to get some epsom salts to try out.
@luckypenny: good call on the MOTN fights. We've had a few over pup wake-ups (ours doesn't really like to STTN and usually wakes me up to pee at 4 am-super annoying). DH isn't good at being woken up from a sound sleep, so I anticipate things could get interesting. And I have no real feelings, honestly. Recently, I've been thinking girl, but I'm afraid to think anything, really, for fear I'll get attached to an idea and be wrong. We'll know soon!
@HazelEyes: the waiting is KILLING me. April 9 is my due date, so the fact that I could go until April 20 or so is driving me nuts. Meanwhile, I contracted every 8 minutes last night (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/can-contractions-be-regular-in-false-labor#post-1504919), and there was a while where I was trying to grapple with the fact that it could have been any minute. I'm not sure I'm ready for this!!!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@megz06: oooh seizures with your pup must have been so hard! And I hear you on the infant and dog comparisons! I feel like dogs can be so easy when everything is going well, and that's when they're way easier than human babies. like, especially with our older dog, he's super predictable and pretty low maintenance: he just needs his walks, his meals, cuddles, and some games of fetch and tug of war, but mostly he goes about his business, following us around and sleeping wherever we go. even our younger dog is predictable in how she misbehaves, like she *will* tear up a box of tissues if we leave it on the coffee table when we're not home. but when they get sick or something, things get real, lol, and all that predictability goes out the window.
@luckypenny: that's great advice, thanks! we talked it out the next day so I'm feeling better about how the next motn wake up (baby or dog caused!), might go
@LovelyPlum: she seems fine now, thanks for asking! the diarrhea stopped (we switched to feeding her plain rice instead of her normal kibble) and she's acting totally normal again as well. and ugh, I'm sorry about the contractions!! That sounds so stressful!

@LovelyPlum: @HazelEyes: @luckypenny: I applaud your ability to hold out this long!! I seriously, could not have handled not knowing what I was having!

@jill_a55: My IG is @meaganandcheese - very baby-heavy right now!
So my hospital bag is packed. The nursery is coming along swimmingly. Laundry is done. Registry shopping is complete. The only thing I NEED to do is finish shower TYs and install car seats. That's such a surreal feeling!

Hi all, I have been offline quite a bit lately while I scramble to get things ready to finish up with work (next Friday, hurrah). I can't even pretend that I'm able to catch up but I wanted to pop in and say hi. It sounds like everyone's at least hanging in there!
My coworkers think I'm going to go early, but I'm unconvinced. Either way, at 38 weeks, it's soon even if I go over, so I'm feeling okay with that!

@gilmoregirl: hi!! Glad you're back
I'm 38 weeks on Friday and Id be so ready for baby except my OB told me she is out of town next week (!!!) so I'm hoping to deliver after 39 weeks. Ughh.

@gilmoregirl: hi! Nice to see you're still hanging in there too!
@luckypenny: ugh, that sucks that she'll be out of town! Keep cooking baby!
It's 6 am and I have to go to work now.... I maaaaybe slept for 2-3 hours last night and am totally exhausted. I have a drs appointment today and am kind of nervous because he'll get to see how swollen my feet get after work. Plus I have my first check to see if any progress has been made!
Is it nap time yet?!
