Thanks for the well wishes
Came home yesterday and it's been tough. J has been cluster/comfort feeding since 11 last night and will only sleep on me when he's done nursing. As soon as I try and swaddle or give him to someone or try and put him in the RnP we get a minute, he wakes and will only be calmed by nursing again. Sigh. Hoping this is a short lived, thing and I will get some relief! Other than that he's so darn cute
Fwiw I was barely at one cm at my appt Thursday morning and went into a very quick labor by Saturday. Hang in there ladies.
And omg the comments from the work peanut gallery... You're still here? You're huge! And my fav from the same guy every. Time. I. Saw. Him: are you sure there aren't twins in there?

@HazelEyes: woo hoo congrats on coming home!! what a surreal feeling it must be...
it gives me hope you went from 1 cm thursday into labor by saturday. i'm just ready to get the baby out (but at the same time so not!)
ETA: my EDD is 4/4 - no longer 4/14 so it's really right around the corner...

@HazelEyes: Congrats on coming home! I hope LO gets used to his new surroundings and will allow others to hold/comfort him too! I'm sure you are doing great!!

Today was a good day: I was surprisingly productive at work AND DH and I went to Target tonight to get a few things we still needed plus a really cute play mat thing that probably wasn't absolutely essential but we both just thought was too cute to pass up! Now I am no longer allowed to freak out that we don't have what e need! Lol
apricot / 335 posts
@HazelEyes: So glad things are going well!
I am going to take an opportunity here to just get all sad panda with you, ladies. I am done. Seriously. I made NO progress in the last week, and I know it has nothing to do with it but it is still disheartening especially since I get a cluster of contractions lasting for hours. Yesterday in Sams Club one actually stopped me in my tracks and brought me to tears and yet no dilation, still hanging at 40% effaced, and -1 station (he did move down slightly). I've been walking, doing exercises, and even sex (which let me tell you at 37 weeks pregnant is miserable as snot).
It just sucks to have all these contractions and nothing to show for it yet. If my water was breaking or something I probably wouldn't complain. I know its my body's way of preparing, so I will have something to show for it, but I wish it would just do it already. I mean, yesterday I almost went back to the clinic because I thought my water DID break, but no such luck. Whatever was going on stopped within an hour (except for contractions).
So here I am, a whiney, waddling pregnant woman at work...with pelvic pressure and cramping as we speak. I'm tired, and I'm tired of people asking me already how my appt went yesterday and the "how's baby?" question.
Thanks for letting me vent, ladies.

@Dandelion: you are so, so close! 4 more days, yes? What do you have planned for your weekend, anything fun? Is your DS really excited?
@jhd: dude, wear the stripes. Seriously. And yay on the playmat. Which one did you get? DH saw one that he really liked the last time that we were there, so I may have to get it at some point. He's usually not into baby toys, so when he is, I try to oblige him
@gilmoregirl: you're super impressive for working right until the end. How are you feeling? Are you done tomorrow?
@luckypenny: so glad that it looks like the babe is going to hang on until your doctor gets back. What are you 3 planning for this weekend?
@SupernovaJ: those pains are the worst-they make me feel so nauseous. Hang in there, lady. I really hope that your appointment goes well and that something is happening!
@HazelEyes: I'm sorry it's been tough, lady. I'm glad you're home, though! I hope that you can get some rest soon
@megz06: that's actually a really good thought about interns at the birth. Like I said, I really don't mind them usually, but please don't run interference for me-I am here for my doctor, not you. // And lady, I hear you. These contractions are no joke. I've had at least 3 breakdowns this week, because they hurt. I'm sorry you're not more dilated. BUT, -1 station and 40% effaced is good progress! Our bodies are doing good work, but it's really, really hard. I hope that you can get some rest soon. Hang in there, Mama.
As for me, I hope that I don't go into labor today, because my mom couldn't come up if I do. I've had a lot of pressure on my cervix the last few hours, which is no fun. Also, the swelling in my legs did not go down last night. BUT, I am here, I am at work, and DH even said I looked cute today. So, I think I win
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@SupernovaJ: sorry I missed the update! I'll change it on the next one now we are due the same day!
@jhd: who said cute playmats weren't essentials? Lol
@megz06: aw lady hang in there! I know it must be hard when you're body has you thinking one thing is going on but you're still early! Think about all the benefits of having baby cook a little longer! Everyday baby is gaining more weight, their brain is developing even more and you get a few extra date nights with DH
@LovelyPlum: found out doctor is back tomorrow so DH & I are ready when baby is Not sure about this weekend. DD had dance class Saturday and we have a dinner double date planned with a new friends in the city so that should be fun! I think we may take her to the zoo if it's not raining and all that walking should help me out too.
I nested like crazy the other day - did all our laundry, cleaned, sterilized bottles, set up changing table and bottle station, organized DDs clothes, went grocery shopping, and scheduled the housekeepers to come every other week in April. Today I'm heading into the city to have brunch with a girlfriend, get a mani/pedi and get take a bunch of my old clothes to consignment. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow! Ah!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: AAH! That's so awesome.
Enjoy that mani/pedi! I haven't nested in a while (lol, a few days, maybe?), but I feel the need to get some things done this weekend. We need to clear out the storage locker (one more trip), get the car interior cleaned, and finish thank-you notes for the shower, at the very least. I also need to hang up one more thing in the nursery, and in theory, I'd love to finish the mobile. I added one more set of pictures to the wall by the crib (from the printables post Mrs. Bee did the other day!), and we decided to turn the rug the other way, because it keeps shifting. I also need to wash my pre-folds another time or two to finish prepping them. And when the tax refund comes, we're going to get a few little splurges for the baby (a set of A+A blankets, a stuffed lamb as a birthday/Easter gift from DH and I, and maybe the playmat).
We got a bunch of stuff done last weekend, though: we sterilized the bottles we had, gave the dog a bath, and did some more organizing/hanging of things. For me, I'd like to get my eyebrows done and give DH a haircut before baby comes. I know there's always more to do, but I feel like if I could make it through this week, or if I could make it through Monday, things would be a lot easier. My mom is away next weekend, though, so I'd love for baby to either come earlier or later so she can be here!
My one thing is that I would love not to have an April Fool's baby. Is that bad?
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: haha not bad at all. When DD was late I really didn't want her to be born on 4/20. I could just hear all the high school bad jokes and it would have driven me crazy!
coconut / 8079 posts
@megz06: i'm so sorry you're having all those contractions and are so uncomfortable hang in there! i hope your day gets better
@luckypenny: sounds like you have been super productive! and yay for all those fun weekend plans! enjoy that mani pedi! i got a pedicure last weekend and it was so nice!
@LovelyPlum: here's the playmat we chose: http://www.target.com/p/infantino-go-gaga-deluxe-twist-fold-gym/-/A-14300791#prodSlot=medium_1_4&term=play%20mat it was on sale and i had a printable 20% off one infant item coupon for target so we got a great deal on it. i slept extra well knowing we have almost all the essentials now + a few splurges.
Can I just say I am SOOOO glad I'm taking tomorrow off? @gilmoregirl: i have no idea how you worked so close to the end. these teenagers are driving me INSANE today. i am just so over them! usually i am very patient but today i am just snappy. and we even had a snow day and a weather delay this week!!
Tomorrow I have a regular OB appt and then I plan to get our shower thank-yous written and rest. Sat I am getting my hair cut and colored.

Well, I am 38 weeks tomorrow and I think I am ready for this baby to come. I have actually been feeling great (finally discovered that my morning bagel was giving me the worst heartburn ever) and wasn't in a rush for baby. But starting last night I got a tickle in my throat which has turned into a horrible dry cough that hurts and sinus headache. I think its allergies but I can't take anything yet (waiting to hear back from doctor) so I am just drinking water and using a few cough drops. But it's miserable...especially because I am at work right now and just don't want to be here.
Doctor appt was Monday and had internal..was 1cm dilated which is nothing and except for BH, haven't had any contractions so no clue when this baby boy plans to arrive. He is moving like crazy though so that's good.
We have everything ready for baby and did some major cleaning last week. I also took both cars to the police and had the car seat bases installed which was my last thing to do.
Now it's just a waiting game....I wouldn't be mad if he came this weekend but he cannot come on 4/1 (no April Fools baby allowed. LOL).
apricot / 448 posts
@LovelyPlum: @NY_Smiles: Am I weird for kind of wanting an April Fool's baby? Maybe because it has never been a day that I really celebrated/used to prank people.... I'm a "holiday" (cinco de mayo) baby though so I guess it just doesn't register with me..
@luckypenny: a 4/20 baby would worry me down the line though!
@megz06: Sorry you're having a hard time! I just keep telling myself that the end is near... Hopefully I hear something decent at my appointment today..
I go through phases of crappiness and just wanting the baby to get out. Every time I walk into work I am instantly in the worst. mood. ever. and want to snap at every person that talks to me/ makes a stuuuuuupid comment about my size or "popping." What the hell makes people think they can just blurt out whatever they feel like because I am pregnant?! A random lady yesterday told me that she thought I had terrible posture, but then saw that I was pregnant and had to laugh... really? really, lady?
I am so relieved to hear that you all have shower thank you's to finish too, they have been just hanging over my head and making me panic that I am slacking majorly by not having them done by now!

II just got home from my less than stellar appointment. No more progress but I have been told I'm not allowed to work anymore because of my blood pressure and swollen legs. Tomorrow I have to go get a sizing ultrasound because he is worried about how big the baby is and thinks we might have to do a c section. Uuuuuuugh. I am terrified of having a c section and it took all that I had in me not to completely melt down in the office.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@jill_a55: aww...I'm sorry about a possible c section. Mine was inevitable from the beginning so I know how you feel. Read through my c section question thread. It really helped me not to be so scared. I'm still nervous but it'll be ok.
apricot / 448 posts
@Dandelion: thanks, I will do that.. What's the name of your thread? Since you're gold I can't see it on your info.
To cheer me up, my mom reminded me that my baby will be really pretty because of a c section. lol. It was something my dr. said a few visits back right after he did one.... He said that c section babies are always really cute because they don't get all squished coming out.

@preggomeggo82: of course not! Lol I actually know 3 people with that birthday!
@jill_a55: aw man! Fingers crossed everything goes good at next appointment. Drink lots of fluids and get some rest and my friends c section baby seriously looked like a perfect baby doll when she came out! DD had a super squished nose and face lol
apricot / 448 posts
@luckypenny: thanks! I'm very anxious to find out what's going on and I will be resting a lot for sure.. Guess I can get those thank you cards done now! It's so weird to think that I am not allowed to work though, I'm pretty happy about it, but it' was so strange to call them and be like yeah sorry... Can't come in!
apricot / 355 posts
@luckypenny: I'm due the 20th, so less likely to have a baby that day, but it's amazing the things people like to tell you about it! Columbine! Hitler! Pot! I'm like, uhhhh Easter baby?
apricot / 335 posts
Thanks for the support everyone. I was cramping and contracting all day yesterday. It finally stopped in the evening. Nothing today yet except for some slight cramping. Today is my mom's birthday, and she demanded a grandson as her gift. I told her I'd see what I can do
@jill_a55: I hope your u/s goes well today! Put your feet up or soak in an epsom salt bath to get that swelling down and just relax as much as you can. The end is near for us, mama, and even if you do have to have a c-section, in the end you will have a BEAUTIFUL little one to show for it.
apricot / 448 posts
@preggomeggo82: ooooh I didn't even think about hitler or columbine. Just the pot. Haha
@megz06: thank you! I'm glad I'll get to see the little dude again, I haven't gotten an ultrasound since like 22 weeks. Hopefully all is well, I was up all night thinking about the possibilities completely freaking myself out. Hopefully your mom will get her bday wish today!!
apricot / 355 posts
@jill_a55: They did an u/s at my 36 weeks to check presentation. It was so awesome to see him again! It was completely unexpected. And I +1 epsom salt baths - my feet are SO swollen but these really help!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@preggomeggo82: yeah I didn't think of anything but pot jokes
Does anyone else get terrible anxiety at night? I'm fine all day but as soon as I lay my head down to sleep I can't help but think of all my worries like, "did DD feel special enough today? What if I go into labor tonight and don't get to hug her before I leave for the hospital?" And they only get worse from there.... Ugh my hormones are just out of control and poor DH is exhausted but I make him stay up and comfort me while I cry and get it all out. Every night. Lol we are both ready for this baby!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: how did your day off and appointment go? I'm now feeling like every day I make it through work is a victory. Work is exhausting!
@NY_Smiles: ugh, that sounds miserable. I hope you feel better!
@jill_a55: how did your u/s go? I'm sorry about the section, but I'm glad you're feeling a bit better about it. I keep trying to remind myself that if I end up with one, the world does not end. Either way, there is a baby!
@preggomeggo82: an Easter baby would be awesome My BIL and DH both have birthdays which occasionally fall on Easter. Fun when it is Easter Sunday, not so fun when it falls on a Good Friday
I'm currently soaking in the tub after a really long day at work. I feel pretty crappy today, so I'm trying to take it easy. At this point, I'm ready for the kid to come! I'm not a very patient grasshopper Either way, though, baby will be here by Easter!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: mine comes I'm the evening, usually right before I have to go to class. I had at least 2 sobbing fits this week, because I just didn't think I could do it anymore. And don't you worry, lady-E is going to love being a big sister. Think of how special she will feel holding her new baby
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: a bath sounds lovely! I know what you mean about work. It is very tiring. Hope you can get some good rest this weekend! My appt went well thanks for asking. I have been super sore and uncomfortable today so aside from cleaning my kitchen & making food to eat I have been alternating between the recliner and the couch watching Netflix.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: creeeeeeeeepy. But also, funny. Thanks for sharing
@luckypenny: @jhd: I was in the bath for an hour. Seriously, amazing. If that is the last one of those I get for a while, I'm a happy girl, because it felt awesome.
apricot / 448 posts
@LovelyPlum: it was nice to see the baby again, but I didn't hear anything good/bad. It was at an imaging center so the tech doing it had no information for me, she had to pass the images along to the radiologist who will give it to my doctor, so I'll find out on Monday. This is going to be a long weekend!
@luckypenny: I get all kinds of anxiety at night. I usually wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep for like 2 hours because I am thinking of everything. Last night I was awake for probably 4 hours overanalyzing what is going to happen! I do a lot of crying in the middle of the night.
watermelon / 14206 posts
I know I've been complaining about my MIL a lot lately, but this baby is really bringing the crazy out on her.
She asked me last weekend if she could stay with the dogs at my house while I'm in the hospital. I said no, I don't want the dogs here when I get home, because I want to ease the baby home and not be bombarded by them. and then she asked what about the cats? I told her they're going to my parents, with DS, so there's nothing else here. Not only that, once all the animals and kid is gone, I'm vacuuming and getting my house just right and the way I want it for when I get home. PLUS, I know she would sleep in our bed, because she's always raving how comfortable it looks. So, I thought we (DH, too, he was saying no), cleared the air and she's staying at her place. (Which is 10 minutes from my house).
So, today, FIL is over, just chatting with us and casually mentions that MIL was talking this week about staying here while we're in the hospital! I gave DH a panicked look and he said we already told her NO. There's not going to be cats or a kid...just an empty clean house that I want to be untouched when I get home.
I'm gonna have to put my bitch face on and tell her she's not staying here. I'm not gonna worry about her feelings at this point.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@Dandelion: UGH! This would drive me bananas!! Why do people feel like babies give them a right to stop listening to you?! You could always change the locks lol I'm going trough something similar with MIL (whom I 99.9% of the time love/agree with). They just bought a house 6 blocks away from the hospital. My only request has been that DD is the first to meet this LO and I don't want her to feel rushed or weird so I wanted DH to pick her up from MILs and bring her to hospital alone but I know she will insist on coming sooner than I'm ready or try to be in the room when they meet or something. Ugh.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@luckypenny: she doesn't have a key. So I'm gonna lock up the hpuseand go. Usually we don't bother cause we have 2 large dogs but since they wwon't be there it'll be a good excuse to lock up. I don't even have to tell dh its because of his mother Lol.
I have no idea why she needs to stay in my house.
My MIL is planning on being in the waiting room at the hospital. We have to be there by 730 but surgery is 930. I bet she'll be there by 8. But she, my bff, my mom and DS are all gonna be waiting by 10 and I want the same thing for DS. No one is meeting LO before he does. She's just having so much boundary issues right now and I'm gonna have to atop worrying about her feelings. I mean obviously she's not respecting mine lately.
apricot / 448 posts
@Dandelion: dude. If I found out that anyone slept in my bed I would freak the eff out on them!! I don't understand the logic with that at all! Sorry your MIL is being such a pain, that's the last thing you need this weekend! I'm glad your FIL spilled the beans so you can go bitch mode on her! Better before it happens than after!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@jill_a55: yeah I'm gonna have to be direct at this point. Like I said above, I'm locking my house anyways and she doesn't have a key so she's SOL.
