@Dandelion: haha you go mama!!! And yeah I had a "no one waiting in waiting room" policy last time....MIL was there. Grrrr.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@luckypenny: she can be in the waiting room all she wants. But when I get out of surgery and go back to my room, there better be NO one in there. They're staying out until I've had plenty of time with my LO. They all already know that.

@Dandelion: ugh I hope things get worked out with MIL. Don't let her stress you. Just a tiny bit more to go until you meet your LO!!! So excited for you!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Dandelion: OK, that is crazy. She needs to calm the heck down, or find another outlet for her nerves/excitement. Hopefully the nurses help you enforce the boundaries you've set! (which, by the way, sound totally reasonable, so I think she might just be a little nuts right now). I hope that your DS has a lot of time by himself to meet and enjoy his little brother

I don't know if I asked this before (and I'm entirely too lazy to look), but is anyone writing a birth plan/birth preferences? I had one written a long time ago, but it now seems like a bit of overkill. I'm still thinking I might want something, though. Thoughts?
apricot / 335 posts
@Dandelion: Ugh. I'm so sorry about your MIL. I hope things get better. I have not heard from mine in over a month, so I have been as relaxed as I possibly can. Once baby comes that's all over, but for now it's been pretty nice. I hope your MIL chills out a bit here.
@LovelyPlum: I wrote one out. I foresee mine changing, and I am totally ok with that. I had in there no induction, immediate skin to skin, no episiotomy unless compress, massage, and other methods have been tried first. I didn't go so crazy as to say the temp in the room had to be this and the lighting low and blah blah blah (no offense to anyone that did). That would be a bit overkill for my taste. I am open to intervention if it is to protect the health of my baby, and that's all that matters.
I am already looking at changing my "no intern" rule because I met the intern, and she has yet to see a birth, and she's really sweet. It would be cool if my birth was the first one she gets to witness. Changing my plans already!!

@LovelyPlum: I wasn't planning on it, but if I have to schedule a c section I might write down a few preferences. They would also probably be more for my DH/nurses about the recovery and baby time.

@LovelyPlum: I've written one out. I know that my labor will very much depend on circumstances, especially with the concerns about my fluid levels, so it's written in a way to be flexible, like "No cervidil/pitocin/epidural as long as everything is progressing in a normal way. If I need to be induced, I would like to limit medical interventions as much as possible." I actually wrote out a separate page for dh and my mom, that has more in it, like the number to call my dr, when to call, when to go to the hospital, etc, pain management techniques to try, stuff for after the baby is born (like, for dh to stay w baby and my mom to stay with me if they need to take her for some reason), etc. I'm assuming I'm going to be sooo out of it that I wanted to have all that info in one place!
Our nursery furniture was FINALLY delivered yesterday!!!! It's SUCH a relief and so much fun to finally get to organize everything and set it up! Our glider should arrive on Tuesday, and then we have to put the rug out and put pictures up on the wall, but it's finally coming together!

@nana87: oh YAY, that is so awesome. I'm excited for you guys!
@megz06: @jill_a55: @nana87: thanks, ladies. I wrote something this morning after I posted my last message, and I think I'm pretty happy with it. Here's a screen shot of it. I think it is more of a "please be aware that" thing than anything. They already do immediate skin to skin and know that I will be breastfeeding, so I'm not too worried about those things.

@LovelyPlum: I don't think it hurts to go in with a plan and sometimes having something in writing helps. The holistic birth practice at my hospital will write a plan for each patient through a series of consultations (document is finalized at the last meeting). Then they will give it to the nurses and delivery unit so everyone is informed of what the patient wants before she comes in. It's really more like a wish list. I feel better knowing I have one but I'm keeping an open mind.
I think your plan / wish list looks great!
@nana87: woo hoo on getting the nursery underway. It really makes everything sink in...!
nesting mode is seriously kicking in. I scrubbed every corner of the cabinets in my kitchen and pantry yesterday. I was dreading it but in the end something came over me and I couldn't help myself. Lol. We still have lots of other things to do though.
In other news, I lost my mucus plug today. It was the weirdest sensation. A big snotty glob. I think someone described it previously in another thread as looking like a slug... Maybe @dandelion? Lol. Perfect description.

@nana87: yay for finally getting your nursery furniture!!!
@LovelyPlum: I think your birth plan/list looks great . I haven't written anything out.
@SupernovaJ: I would love it if nesting kicked in for my cabinets.., they definitely need organized! I did however get a lot cleaned up in my classroom last week.
Not feeling very well today. I think it's just allergies, but it's making me anxious.

@Dandelion: @luckypenny: oh I am feeling you on the mil. She has never ever been pushy, and even through our wedding etc it has been "whatever you want, it's your day." Then the birth of her grandson came around. We told her weeks before that we didn't want anyone at the hospital after the birth so we had time to figure things out as a threesome and recover. She actually said to DH, "you know family comes before friends." Like I was planning on having friends there and not her!! I wasn't even having MY mother come. It was so underhanded it still makes me cry. We'll guess who guilted her way to the hospital day 2? I couldn't even fight it. She just had no idea that there are a million nurses constantly checking and testing you and LO, not to mention trying to figure out nursing and sleeping and heck, going to the bathroom. She somehow came in a window where he wasn't fussy and at the end of a nursing session so it ended up being ok, but I almost wanted to be interrupted a million times to be like, see? This is not a good time!

@jhd: I hear you on the teenagers at work. My last two weeks I was so over them. And more so the parents. Hang in there. Mere days and then you don't have to deal w any of it for the rest of the year!

Just thinking of you all... I can sympathize with the impatience. They are all coming soon!! Yayyy
We are doing well over here. A bit if a rough night last night, but we are moving along. Can't believe he's a week already!!

@HazelEyes: you're absolutely right. Thanks I have 14 days left if work...if I can make it that long! sorry to hear you have had mil issues. Mine is usually wonderful but I'm prepared that her 1st grandson may change that! Lol I hope you are settling in well at home & everything is going well.

I just got back home from taking DS and the cats to my parents. That was such a hassle! FIL is coming to get the dogs later this evening. Seriously, 3 days in the hospital is starting to sound like a nice vacation!

@HazelEyes: Ugh, yeah...this baby has turned my MIL just crazy! She was nuts before, but now she's way too much. I really need her to tune it down a lot.

@LovelyPlum: my hospital has a checklist style birth plan that I am using. It's mostly about baby care, but definitely something I am glad to have. I'll be going over it with my doctor at my 37 week appointment tomorrow.

I think (I hope) my time is near, ladies. I lost what I thought was my mucus plug a few weeks ago, but today is proving different, I am losing little bits of lightly pink/brown tissue like stuff. I have been having cramping on and off all day (I am starting to attempt to time all of it now). I called L&D just to make sure what I was experiencing is normal, and she said yes. She told me if my water breaks or I can't talk/walk through my contractions and they end up being 5 minutes apart lasting a minute then I should come in. Otherwise I am safe to labor at home. maybe I just have gas that's trying to work itself out lol
DH keeps assuring me we will make it to the hospital if it all happens, but I am super anxious as we have started to get rain and an increase in wind...and we are expecting 6-12 inches of snow starting at 10 through tomorrow at 7p. Wouldn't be ND without one last spring blizzard. Ugh.

@megz06: Ohh! Good luck! Maybe our babies will be birthday twins! (Unless yours comes in the next 4 hours!)

@megz06: yay, yay, yay!!! Good luck, Mama!!
@Dandelion: so is the house clean and untouched by your MIL?
watermelon / 14206 posts
@LovelyPlum: yes! It's just how I like it. We're locking the door in the morning so she can't get weird about it.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@nana87: hooray for nursery furniture! I bet it feels nice to have it put together and crossed offed the list
@LovelyPlum: your list looks great lady! I'm not sure that ill actually print out anything this time. But one of my biggest fears is a nurse announcing the sex instead of DH so part of me wants to just print out something that says he is the only one who can say anything lol
@SupernovaJ: TMI I've had so much mucusy discharge for a week now! I feel like I loose my "plug" everyday. Ready for baby to just show up already!
@HazelEyes: I can't believe it's already been a week!
@megz06: eek! How exciting! Keep us posted!

@Dandelion: good call on the door locking. Sending you so much good luck tomorrow!!!!!
@luckypenny: I've had SO much discharge over the last 10 days that it was starting to make me wonder if I had a yeast infection! I don't think so, but gross. And thanks for the list feedback. Now that it's written, I'm so nervous to give it to them-I'm not pushy at all, and I'm a little afraid that it will make me come across as overbearing. But, I need them to know what is going on, and I don't want to have to explain it to six million people over and over again. So, a list it is. We'll see how my courage holds up in the morning.
As for me, I've been contracting pretty much every time I stand up. The on-call doctor told me to have a glass of wine (huzzah!) and try to sleep, since they're not regular. He did say, though, that if I'm more dilated at my appointment in the morning, that we might talk about an induction So this might be a busy week for babies!

@jill_a55: eeeeeek!!!! Good luck, mama!!

@LovelyPlum: nah yours doesn't sound pushy at all. It's a really good one! Lol I wish I could find mine from DD and laugh at it. I was pretty neurotic
@jill_a55: ahhhh!!! Good luck I am do excited for you!!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: oh good I'm sure that when the baby is born, I will look back and laugh at what I thought L+D was going to be like, because we all know that nothing ever goes according to plan! Any movement on your end? You're almost at 40 weeks, yes?
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: 40 weeks on Friday! I'm becoming more and more convinced that this child will be just as stubborn and comfortable in here as DD and make me wait 11 days again. But DH and I have been sexin every day since Thursday and I walked my butt off at the zoo with DD today so I'm hoping something works soon I'm ok waiting though. The longer they "cook" in there the better.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: I'm sorry, every day?! I'm tired just thinking about that! I've been walking a lot, but it is more like waddling now. DH keeps ordering me spicy food, but so far, all I've got to show for it is more contractions. Guess we will see tomorrow!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: haha I'm tired too! But the fear of waiting 3 more weeks is pretty motivating lol
watermelon / 14206 posts
So I'm awake and can't sleep because I have a crazy case of heartburn! 39 weeks and I've been scot free with it and I just had to get a bout of it the last night. I took a nexium a minute ago, despite it being past time to start fasting. I'm hoping it works fast! This is crazy. 4 hours and I head to the hospital!!
apricot / 448 posts
Thanks girls! This is going to be a long night, already had to walk around the l&d floor for an hour. Gooood times
@Dandelion: I did not expect a march baby at all! But yay for
Bday twins! Pretty sure your LO will come before mine though. Still hanging out in triage.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Dandelion: eek, you're there! I hope the Nexium helped!
@jill_a55: how is it going??
We will see, but I may be joining you ladies soon. Woke up to contractions every 4-5 minutes apart...
