@preggomeggo82: I definitely need to find my yoga ball. I am also getting a bit impatient. My DH works at home so at least I'm not all alone. I'm not supposed to be working, but unfortunately there are little things that keep popping up.

Just wanted to check in. Campbell is a great baby. But he won't sleep in bassinet at all. As soon as I put him in there he starts crying so I have given in and he sleeps on me. So I have been sleeping in living room in our big leather chair. It's getting old as Campbell will be 18 days old tomorrow. At first it waste comfortable for my c section but now I want my bed. Not sure what to do exactly. He is too little to let him cry it out so any recommendations are appreciated.
Otherwise just learning how to be a mom and figuring it out as I go. The hubby is trying but it's pretty much all me. Thank god for my mom and her help. She is a lifesaver.

@NY_Smiles: good to hear from you!! I'm glad your mom is able to help some. I have no advice on the sleeping thing but I hope you can find something that works for both you & baby very soon!!

hi april mommies, just checking in! i've read all of your updates and it's so nice to see how everyone is doing - preggo mamas too. don't worry, they will come soon. i was also scheduled for an induction which i really wanted to avoid, but ended up going into labor spontaneously about 12 hours before i was scheduled to go in. even if you are induced, you can still have the labor of your "dreams" so try not to stress. i had an augmented labor with pitocin which was something else i wanted to avoid, but in the end it didn't matter because it brought me one step closer to meeting my LO. get as much rest as you can now, because if your labor is anything like mine, it will be a long stretch before the baby is out and you can get some shut eye!
it's been a great week overall with baby girl, although there have been rough moments as well. we left the hospital and she had lost 10% of her body weight, was jaundiced, dehydrated and super lethargic. my milk hadn't come in so she wasn't eating enough. i supplemented with formula for a day and luckily my milk came in the next day. we struggled a TON with breastfeeding the first few days because she wouldn't latch and i was bottle feeding expressed breast milk. we're finally turning a corner and she's latching on with only a bottle feed at night which i'm hoping to cut out soon. there were moments where i wanted to give up SO badly, but have decided to keep going for now.
it's been a week and a half since she was born and she's already grown so much. it makes me kinda sad! i realized how incredibly fleeting time is and am trying to enjoy every moment, even when she is being fussy, or having major poop explosions (usually right after a diaper change). overall, she is an awesome baby - or maybe i'm just trying to focus on the brighter moments, because it can get really brutal some nights. either way i'm enjoying every snuggle with LO and still can't believe she's mine.
hope you're all able to get some decent sleep and rest, pregnant or not! i remember those last few days with my big belly were so uncomfy. hang in there all!

@SupernovaJ: so glad to hear things are going well for you! I hope bf continues to improve. And glad you are enjoying those baby snuggles. I'm sure it is rough but I'm equally sure you are doing great!

@LovelyPlum: we found a little spot of blood in LOs diaper too. but the hospital and our ped warned us about this beforehand and said girls often get mini "periods" soon after birth as the hormones leave their bodies, which is acquired in-utero from mommy. it's perfectly normal. was it a bloody stool though and not a mini period? hope it resolved itself...
i SO hear you on the BF and baby latching then screaming blood murder. we've already had plenty of those nights. i've learned that waking to feed her before she gets ravenous helps. usually by the time she's woken herself up, i know it's going to be a long struggle! i have to catch her in a good mood and she's much more receptive to latching properly and she's better at establishing her suck. your LO will get the hang of things soon, keep going - you're doing awesome!

@jhd: thanks for the encouragement. congrats on finishing work, although it's crazy you are still grading tests and such. i wouldn't be able to focus! really excited for you and the remaining mamas. i'll be thinking of you ladies the next few days and can't wait for the updates. get some rest if you can!

@NY_Smiles: hi there! Glad to see you Do you have a Rock n Play? I wasn't going to use one, but honestly, she sleeps so much better on an incline. I can't imagine sleeping in a chair for 18 days...that sounds miserable And aren't moms the best?
@SupernovaJ: hey there! Thanks lady-BFing is such a roller coaster. I'm glad to hear that you're getting there, though. I think we are, too. My nipples are mostly healed, so now it's just making sure she's gaining appropriately. I am so glad that my baby is not the only one who poops again right after we change her! And it's funny-we're pretty sure that the blood was from vaginal discharge, but I had no idea that this could happen with breastfed baby girls. It is so, so crazy to think that she has all of the hormones that she needs to have babies of her own already there. Just nuts.
We are doing well. My mama left this morning, but before she did, she took the baby at 3 am and let us sleep for FIVE HOURS. It was so great. So now we're trying to adjust as a family of 3. I think we're going to head to Holy Thursday Mass tonight, so G will get her first taste of church. Wish us luck!

@gilmoregirl: @Dandelion: you go, girls! I'm not there yet, but I've lost 20 pounds already, and it feels soooo nice!

Went to my OB appt. Baby is lower down than last week but I'm still not dilated at all. So discouraged. My due date is Mon but he's measured ahead consistently this whole time so I guess I was hoping that would mean something! Next Fri we will schedule an induction for the 29th if he still shows no signs of being ready.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: ugh I'm so sorry lady. Dropping is progress, though- hopefully it will put pressure on your cervix and you will start dialating. Either way, the end is in sight! Come on little man. We all want to meet you!!

Update from newborn land: she did so, so well at Church last night. I was so proud and happy. On the other hand, I pushed it way too hard and am paying for it. My incision really hurts and I'm crampng like crazy. We were going to try to go to Good Friday service today, but it is not happening. Little miss was up from 10-3 angry screaming instead-broke my heart I think she was really, really gassy, and we couldn't get it out. We ended up giving her gas drops and that seemed to help. She is better now, so we all just have some sleep to make up for.

@LovelyPlum: I'm so glad to hear church went well. but I really hope you can take it easy today & get some much-needed rest! And poor baby--fx her tummy feels better today!
I'm feeling a little better after some lunch and a chat with my mom. It's just hard to think that all the cramping and contracting hasn't led to anything yet!

Baby boy Nolan Martin arrived on Friday at 10:57 pm, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 20.5 inches. This labor was so fast. I felt different on Friday with lots of pressure and left work early. Contractions became about 4 minutes apart by 6pm, got to the hospital at 8 pm and was 4 cm, water broke at 10:25 pm and I was 10cm and he arrived at 10:57 pm. No time for an epidural and successful vbac!

@luckypenny: hey love-we're surviving, thanks Trying to reorient myself to reality...it's harder than I thought it was going to be. But we're getting there. How is life with two kiddos?
@preggomeggo82: @charityanne: how are you feeling?

@LovelyPlum: there are good days and SUPER HARD moments...like when both girls are crying at 3 am and they keep waking each other up and we've already been up for 2 hours and it takes another 1.5 hours to settle them both back down lol but overall it's great! I'll definitely be happy when my mom comes out on Wednesday to help
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: we didn't end up making plans...everyone was hoping baby might decide to come...but maybe if we'd made big plans he would have decided to crash them lol that's great news your mom is coming out to help. how long does she get to stay?
@LovelyPlum: we got out yesterday for lunch & a quick Target run & today we went to church and lunch out with my parents so I'm feeling a lot more relaxed. Just trying to do little chores around the house & rest as much as possible. Sun is shining today which helps a lot too how are you feeling? I'm obviously not there yet but I can only imagine how hard the first few days and weeks are, but you are doing great!!!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@jhd: haha that's always the case. Well it's nice to have a day to relax. Mom will be here for 10 days and my little sister is coming for four also. They're going to help with E's 2nd bday party. Plus I'm so ready for home cooked meals. I love eating out but it's starting to get old.

Hey everyone I've been meaning to get this up for a few days now but things have been super hectic since......Avery Anne arrived!!!! She was born on Tuesday April 15th at 3:21pm. She was 6 lbs 14.8 oz. and 20 1/4" long! My labor went faster than I expected and she was three days early! It was an amazing experience and we are so in love! She is beautiful and so far, even though there have been some sleepless nights, I love being a mom!

@luckypenny: @LovelyPlum: Hello! Thanks for checking in! Still pregnant! I am headed to the doc this afternoon and hoping for progress, Lots of contractions over the weekend, but as soon as they ramp up to something interesting, they stop. Got as close as 6 minutes apart and then nothing, boooo. It's so frustrating!!

I had my first postpartum check up today. I healed up really well. I'm also finally over the food poisoning from this weekend too. I'm down 30 lbs from my last pregnancy weight...which is 20 less than pre preg weight! I guess if I'm gonna get food poisoning I might as well have it right before a weigh in lol.
I go back June 9 to get my mirena in.

@CharityAnne @Stacy congrats mommas!! enjoy those newborn snuggles.
we had a really rough night last night - she was crying pretty much every hour or so, and could only be pacified through nursing, which is just exhausting. she's also figuring out that if she cries enough, we will pick her up and hold / rock her - not a good thing! it breaks my heart to let her cry for a bit to see if she stops on her own, but in the end i know it'll be better for all of us if we're not constantly trying to soothe her after every little whimper. overall she's a great baby - i forget sometimes that life with a newborn is SLEEPLESS, and that it's normal. most nights i get good stretches of 3 hours of sleep at a time with 30-40 minute nursing sessions in between. i've been taking pictures and videos of her everyday and it amazes me how much they change almost everyday!

@Dandelion: glad you had a good appt today and glad you are getting over the food poisoning. i hope you are feeling much better! did DS have a good spring break?
