Ugh today has just dragged on forever. Took DD to gymboree this AM which usually wares her out but not today. THis child is trying to kill me lol didn't nap until 2 and decided to only nap for an hour. Called a friend to meet me at the park so I can lay down and she can chase the kiddos around. DH isn't home for another 2 1/2 hours. Plus I have to make dinner.

    End rant.

@T.H.O.U.: I took one. I swear, the bottom od my belly already feels hard. Crazy!

@HazelEyes: hey there I feel like death, but what can you do? Mu body decided that throwing up at work would be fun, and refrigerators and microwaves are pretty much not friends with me. I told DH that food should be unnecessary. All in a day's work, huh? Glad you are feeling well!

    @luckypenny: oy, sounds rough!

Ok, here is what we think is "the bump." I am 5wks 3d today. The first pic was taken July 5th from a side view. I have only gained 2 pounds since that picture, but apparently, my belly says otherwise. I also took a picture, as gross as it does look (at least to me) of what my stomach looks like when I sit down. Thank God for pants and a bigger shirt that hide this right now! What do you guys think?

@LovelyPlum: I can't even go in the kitchen lol I almost threw up in the kitchen sink after opening the fridge to make DD lunch

@megz06: that third picture is suspicious!!

@luckypenny: ugh. Also, refrigerated styrafoam containers smell nasty.

@LovelyPlum: ohhh. I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. I'm not at all being smug about feeling good, I know my turn is right around the corner again!

  11. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@HazelEyes: I'm glad that you are felling well still! Trust me, I wish this on no one. But it is worth it

@hazeleyes @lovelyplum - I'm also feeling pretty terrible, but I am so glad for anyone who isn't. Because similar to what lovelyplum said, I don't want anyone to feel this way. But also it gives me hope -- if not everyone is sick all the time, then maybe my turn to feel better is right around the corner! It could happen.

@lovelyplum, sounds like the nausea is especially rough for you. hope you're feeling better soon. I CAN eat, but most things are gross and I feel at least somewhat nauseous most of the time. I'm on B6, and it's helping calm my stomach at least.

@megz06 I am no expert on bumps vs bloat, but it does look suspicious for 5 weeks. I can't wait for you to have your ultrasound

@LovelyPlum: I felt like death yesterday too. I had my first really bad headache of this pregnancy and wanted to curl up in a ball and cry (got very close to doing that) I walked in the door from work last night and my husband took 1 look at me and said "oh.. you're not feeling good today, huh?" Glad it shows on the outside too! lol

So we've had quite a few ladies with overall MS, any specific cravings or aversions?

I'm not sure if they are cravings, but I have been more attracted to carb-y foods, which is unusual for me. And chicken has been a no go (so frustrating, happened right after one of my best batches of chicken piccata, my fav! No leftovers for me)

    apricot / 448 posts

@megz06: I agree with all the others, totally suspicious! Can't wait to hear more when you have your ultrasound!!

Oh and another question, what was the consensus on when to start taking belly pics? (well, except you @megz06: bc looks like you need to start documenting now!)

  18. jill_a55

@HazelEyes: If I have any major cravings, they don't seem to last through actually getting to eat it! lol

  19. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    Cravings:
    Seltzer water
    Soup
    Fruit
Canned tuna (I know, I know)
    Citrus
    Protein
    Corn tortilla chips
    Kefir

    Aversions:
Anything raw- but once it is cooked, I'm ok
Anything refrigerated-but once heated, it is ok
    Eggs (so sad)
    Bananas
Polenta (which I CRAVED last time)
Sauteing onions and garlic-one of my favorite smells ever

Most things, really...I have to smell it first, then see if I can stomach it. It took me an hour to find a dinner I could stomach last night (curried lentil stew with carrots, fried potatoes, and watermelon, if you're interested).

  20. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@HazelEyes: I took my first one last week, and 5+3. Not sure when I will do another

  21. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

    Craving:
    Fruit
    Anything salty (chips, fries)

    Aversions:
    Everything else lol

Took my first belly pic with DD at 6 weeks. Haven't taken one yet. Ill probably wait until 12 weeks this time

  23. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@gilmoregirl: @jill_a55: I'm sorry you ladies aren't feeling well, either. It is not a lot of fun, huh? I didn't wake up early enough to put on make up this morning, and I am pretty sure I look like death warmed over. I'm doing b6 in the morning and evenings, unisom at night, and zofran in the morning. Not throwing up a lot, just constantly nauseous. And I just feel like I'm going to fall over for hours at a time.

But like I said, I hope that I will get my bearings soon and can enjoy this some more! And I'm sorry if I sound whiny- I don't mean to!

  24. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

Icky. I hope everyone feels better! I do not envy you ladies right now. I am blessed with no morning sickness [yet] and actually my nausea has subsided except for the very rare occasions. I am still really tired and have been hangry all day. yes, hangry. I am hungry and angry at the same time. Apparently today is just not my day and my attitude and lack of energy is telling me I just need to go home and go to bed.

  25. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: lol, hangry, I like it. I think you definitely should get to go home! I'm dragging big time over here. 50 more minutes!!

@LovelyPlum: It's no fun at all! Luckily today is my day off, but my work days just draaaaaggg. I haven't told anyone at work yet, and my boss is constantly wondering what is wrong with me.

What You're Most Scared About: Complications. My sister had GD and HBP, and my mom had preeclampsia with me. I'm hoping to avoid both.

Symptoms so far: Morning sickness has arrived, with all day nausea/no food sounds appetizing. Intestinal cramps, yucky poops, strong sense of smell, sore boobs.

Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?: We need to move! We live in a 1 bdrm apartment and need to find a bigger place.

@luckypenny: oh man, I wanted burgers today too so badly! Buti compromised and made stuffing instead. It was yummy, but a burger is on my radar soon!

I'm finding it crazy hard to meal plan when I have no idea what I'm going to want to eat. I'm adding sauerkraut to my aversions list, though. DH jokingly suggested it for dinner, and I almost threw up on him. Ew, Ew, Ew.

@jill_a55: I had to tell my summer boss, but I haven't told nyone at school yet. That is Monday-I'm going to have to. I'm afraid. It is pretty obvious that I am not myself.

    @babybeemcd: welcome! And congrats!

Hi guys!!! I'm so excited to be joining this thread!! I think I am really still in shock! I just found out 3 days ago, so I think I'm about 4 wks. I have only told my best friend...and HB of course I don't think I'm going to tell anyone else until 12 wks in case god forbid something happens. Hubby and I are beyond thrilled! This was our 8th cycle and I was starting to get really bummed out when our came out of nowhere! Congrats to all of the other April moms!!!

EDD if you have one: Somewhere around April 18th I think
When Did You Find Out?: 17 DPO
    Child Number: First!
    Where You Live: rural Missouri
What kind of provider will you see?: probably just a regular ole OB GYN
When's Your First Appointment?: I haven't called yet!
What kind of birth do you want?: definitely a natural birth, but I want it to be quick and safe. I will most certainly be asking for an epidural
What You're Most Excited For: Right now, finding out the sex and decorating the nursery; but overall I just want a baby!
What You're Most Scared About: Right now, having a miscarriage. In general gaining weight and having to have a c-section....I really don't want to get huge and I don't want a c-section at all.
Symptoms so far: umm not really anything...I guess fatigue and cramping, and maybe enlarged nipples lol I'm hoping morning sickness just stays away.
Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?: nothing super exciting, probably cleaning out the spare bedroom to start on the nursery and then decorating my house for fall. It's my favorite season!!

    @babybeemcd: @CharityAnne: Hooray! Welcome Mamas!

@LovelyPlum: same with the meal planning. DH has really been on me to do that lately too so we can save $$ on shopping since we need a new car and babies are expensive! Mostly it means I just eat fruit for dinner

    @LovelyPlum: Yay!! Here I am! @luckypenny: thanks!!
I noticed you all were talking about cravings up above, and as of right now I don't think I have any. When do they usually start? Like I mentioned in my first post, I think I'm only about 4 weeks, and I've read that it can be 6 weeks before a lot of symptoms begin....is my life about to be ruined in 2 weeks? Lol

  34. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@CharityAnne: it's really more aversions than cravings for me. So the fact that I can't really eat anything makes me really want whatever sounds good/edible at the time.

Rough night for me last night. I couldn't fall asleep. It was like I couldn't breath and my heart was beating hard and fast, so I got up and sat on the couch. That seemed to help. So I took note of my heartbeats per minute (which was 93) and called the ER. The gal there said it was completely normal (just anxiety, and I read that it can also be because my body is pumping more oxygen and blood through my system), and I just need to relax. She said to take a warm bath, but I ended up just laying on the couch crying because I felt so helpless.

I must have fallen asleep for about 15 minutes because my episode of Family Guy was over, lol. I went back to bed and was able to sleep the rest of the night (about 5 hours of sleep), but man, that was rough. Hopefully I have enough energy to stay awake today.

  36. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: oh hun. That sounds awful. I'm sorry if you continue to have trouble sleeping, you might consider half a unisom...I tale one every night with b6 to help with nausea. But it helps me sleep, too.
