@Mrs. Sunshine: Try a neti pot. It'll help clear out your sinuses and relieve some of the pressure, but make sure you read the directions. You can't use tap water unless it's boiled. It has a bit of a learning curve to use, but I've found it helps.

@Banana330: I sure hope I make it close to full term. I can't afford to take any extra leave.@Mrs. Sunshine: I had one recently. I took my vitamins, Zyrtec and extra strength Tylenol. It really seemed to help. Oh and sitting in a steam filled room or shower for a bit is great too!

@Boopers: @marionberry: thanks! I'll try both tjose. DH was trying to scare me, telling me that sinus infections can last for months....jerk! lol

Been kinda quiet around here (I haven't posted much either), how is everyone doing? I am struggling with a wicked cold that has just zapped all my energy. The to do list grows longer but I just don't have the energy to tackle most things on the list. My immune system is usually so good, I rarely get sick. But pregnancy really compromises my immune system and I'm kinda afraid I will be spending the next 3 months with some kind of cold.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@NeekieRose: Sucks you're sick! that's the one thing i'm trying to avoid (knock on wood) I'm still feeling nauseous most evenings so I can't imagine both at the same time.
I'm trying to get as much done for the nursery etc now while I still have energy and motivation. I'm worried my nesting is kicking in super early and i'll fade by 30 weeks.

@NeekieRose: i was just going to send a msg to @delight: too!
@delight: thinking of you lots! xo.
@NeekieRose: i woke up sunday night with a CRAZY cough that is currently murdering me. unlike you, i have a horrible immune system so it takes nothing for me to get sick. i've been sick most of the pregnancy and now my cough is back and i'm crazy stuffed up and mostly just feel like i have been hit by a bus. lovely so i can totally commiserate! and with christmas fast approaching, i have been getting NOTHING baby related done, other than my totally frivolous, unnecessary purchases.
in other news, i went to the US on sunday and was able to return the stroller in store with minimal issues! phewf! huge relief.

@loki: Nice! I was wondering how that went.
I'm kind of tempted to buy some things off my registry, indigo has 20% off ergo's right now.
persimmon / 1386 posts
@Banana330: so tempting to buy stuff! But with Christmas and the baby coming, hopefully someone else will get it for you? You can get the Ergo 20% off at anytime by using a Buy Buy Baby or BRU 20% off coupon so I would probably try to wait and see if anyone else get it!
@loki: ugh, being sick sucks. Although I don't know how you deal with the morning sickness for so long!
I have done nothing for the new baby. And if I'm being honest, it hasn't really sunk in that there will be another baby soon. Sure, it's real that I'm pregnant. But it still isn't real that there will be another baby. We are going to work on setting up Reagan's big girl room in January. There won't be much to do for the new baby since she will just go in the nursery that is already set up.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@NeekieRose: I'm just so. effing. tired. I really can't remember being this wiped all the time last pregnancy. LO is fine playing a lone but god forbid I sit any where but on the floor while she does it & that really aggravates my sciatica.
We just decided that Jessie is going to move to the bigger room so I've made an organized list for all the things we need to get done but won't be able to start until January as well. Hopefully I'm able to get everything I need done. I feel like it's about time I get a fire and start prepping for this baby! We also still need to name this kid....lol I hope you and @loki: feel better soon!

Hey ladies. We are really struggling. She's been formally dx with Turners and we don't know where to go from
Here. I just cry all day long. Her ultrasounds continue to look good and her fetal echo came back clear. We just feel uncertain about bringig a child into the world that could have lots of problems. However, the other option is unbearable to imagine too. I only have two weeks to decide and then my only option is carrying to term (in Canada). I love her so much already and only want what is best. I just don't know what that is. It's really hard and I don't wish this on anyone. Thanks girls for checking in and thinking of me and hope you are all well. Xo

@NeekieRose: i've kicked my morning sickness a bit but i sometimes still get nauseous at night if i'm up late... it's brutal. i'm mostly just SO UNCOMFORTABLE already. wah. i'm a whiner haha. hope you feel better soon and you don't have this cold until the spring! with my luck, i totally will.
@Mrs. Sunshine: of course you're more tired this time, you have jessie! i cannot iiiiiiiiiiiiimagine how you second time moms do it. i am seriously gonna have like a 3-4 year gap between kids now after my first pregnancy experience. we are STRESSING about names. we have a list but cannot agree. i want to go into it having a name picked out but i don't think that's gonna be the case for us!

@delight: i'm so sorry to hear this update. and my heart just breaks for you. whatever you decide, we support you and we know it is the best decision for you, DH and your little girl. please please please let me know if there's anything i can do for you.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@delight: Oh No! I can't imagine! Are there resources to help you, in terms of knowing the varying scale of what the issues could be? Or a councilor to help talk things through. We're here for you, whatever tough decision you make. My thoughts are with you and your DH right now.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@loki: I liked having a name picked beforehand with Jess. Everytime she moved I would mentally talk with her and stuff. With this baby I'm like "oh hey, baby." Haha. I was a nanny when I was pregnant with Jessie so I thought I'd have a small taste of what it was like but the days are longer when it's your own kid lol
pear / 1787 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: well the problem is i kinda think of her as one name and my husband thinks of her as another! i keep yelling at hime not to call her that but then secretly in my head i call her the name i want! haha. so we're at a stand still.

@delight: I was thinking about you earlier today; thanks for updating. I wish you had the peace of better news, or a more concrete prognosis. You'll continue to be in my thoughts. I work in 2nd trimester terminations (though in the US). Please wall me if you ever want to talk off forum.

@NeekieRose: I'm feeling pretty tired all of the time. I'm frustrated because I thought this is when I'm supposed to have lots of energy and sex drive. Nope.
I'm managing to get through my work day normally, but, I'm totally wrecked by the time I get off and I'm struggling to stay awake on the transit ride home. My house is a mess, I'm crabby with my sweetie, and I can't get on top of my mountain of dirty laundry.
I'm sleeping well, nothing's hurting, but, I am so, so tired.
In pleasant news, I got my first real xmas tree since the mid-90s. Sweetie and I drove about an hour outside the city to a place where you walk through the field to pick out and saw down your own tree. We've been slacking on actually getting it decorated, but, I'm still really excited to just have one.

@delight: I'm sorry to hear about the official prognosis. I know that you will do what is right for you and your family. Hugs to you.
@lilyofthewest: Good for you on the real tree! Growing up in Oregon we've never had anything but a real tree, but I just can't imagine ever having a fake one. They're so awesome.
We finally ordered cribs for the twins and some bouncers but I have so much to do still. Since I know I won't do much until January (thanks to the holidays) I'm going to really have to work hard to get it all done and ready in time. They say for twins to pack your bags by 28 weeks - I keep laughing at that. These babies better stay in there for a lot longer because I'm not quite ready for them to get here. And trying to decide if I paint the nursery or just leave it - as a second time mom I have absolutely no energy and no time. Surprisingly though I'm sleeping pretty well right now despite a giant belly, so that's good!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@marionberry: so exciting about the cribs! I too, am sleeping pretty well but apparently that doesn't help with exhaustion for some reason. It makes me so aggravated. I hope your babies cook as long as they can!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@lilyofthewest: Yay for a real tree! We didn't start doing it until I was in high school but DH and I have never had a fake tree. Getting the tree is part of the fun!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: Thanks, me too! My local hospital has no NICU but I work there, so I'd only have to pay 10% of what's left after insurance if they make it full term. If the twins come early though, I'd have to deliver at a bigger hospital which means paying up to a $7500 family maximum. So for financial reasons, really praying they stay in there!!!

I've been pretty quiet lately but I have been following along. I'm sorry some of you have been unwell! It's that time of the year
I don't really have much to report except that I think I might be battling ANOTHER yeast infection. I'm taking a probiotic and trying to eat lots of yogurt but I'm refusing to use the monistat again as it was such a bad experience last time (with the bleeding etc) and my dr said it is fine to just 'tough it out'.
I am feeling somewhat organized for the baby, in that I've got most things picked out, but we haven't really purchased much yet, save for a few clothes, a bassinet and some cloth diapers I got in the holiday sales. We are hoping our families will gift us some things for Christmas (this baby will be the first grandchild for BOTH our parents so they have said they want to get some of the larger items for us) but I have a feeling they want to wait till next year to buy baby stuff so I feel like I can't get much until they at least say what they want to get. I really do want to just get everything organized now!

@delight: I'm so sorry to hear your news Prayers that you will find comfort in whichever decision is right for your family!!
Since this is second baby, I'm not having a shower. And I really feel like I'm done baby shopping with the exception of a few more aden and anais swadders and 2 new carseats for my babes.
How's everyone's Christmas going? Has anyone bought baby any christmas presents?
nectarine / 2317 posts
@lilyofthewest: I only get real trees! They are so fantastic! My DH is from australia and they don't really do real trees, so i've promised him once the LO is here we can go out and cut one down!
@marionberry: Nice job on the cribs! We put ours up last weekend and it totally made the baby thing feel much more real. That's crazy on the different pricing! FX for you!
@lulu22: Sucks about the yeast infection. It's the first grandchild on my side, and my mom has promised to spoil the baby, but i have yet to see any actual spoiling. I'm hoping she'll stick more or less to my registry stuff as she tends to have VERY different taste to me.
@MrsCastro: Welcome!
@anonysquire: I asked DH if we should get something for the baby.. he said haven't you bought enough already So nothing under the tree until next year!

@NeekieRose: I just got over a terrible cold, so I feel you. It hung around for like, a week and a half and there wasn't much I could do aside from eating well and using my neti pot or sinus spray. Hope yours is shorter/less awful!
@delight: I am so sorry you are having to struggle with such a complicated decision. I'm thinking about you and hoping you have some clarity soon, as I imagine it's excruciating having to make the decision.

@lilyofthewest: i'm with you on the exhaustion and getting nothing done. at least you're sleeping well... little victories! real trees are sooooo nice but we put our tree up usually nov 30 and leave it up until after new years haha.
@marionberry: i wanna see your belly! do you guys have any names yet? i always thought naming twins would be so fun!if i had twin boys they'd be reid & clark
@MrsCastro: congrats & welcome. we have a lovely little group here and we're happy to have you!
@anonysquire: i've been nonstop shopping for the babe but not really christmas specific. although my big gift from DH is something decorative for the nursery so i guess it counts, although it's really for me!
@Banana330: thanks for doing that, love seeing all the pink & blue! we're a pretty even split!
apricot / 306 posts
@MrsCastro: welcome to the group! we also have a board for our bump photos so be sure to jump on that one too!
@Banana330: oh yes I am Australian and the 'real tree' thing is such a novelty! I love it! Growing up we used to have a dead crab-apple tree that my dad would bring in each year and call an 'aussie bush christmas tree' without a green leaf in sight... it sounds a bit depressing but it was our little tradition and some of my friends family's did the same. Now that we live in the US, DH and I are never organized enough to go an cut one down ourselves, but I REALLY want to do that once we have the baby! We need to go pick up a pre-cut one this weekend...
I have my 24week OB appointment today... I have so many weird and gross questions to ask this week... like what's up with the ugly red spider veins that just appeared on each of my bum cheeks? ewwww.
apricot / 306 posts
@loki: I am giving DH Christmas gifts for the baby too! We actually agreed to only give each other one small gift each and that the rest of the presents would be baby stuff.. but so far I think I'm the only one who has got anything for the baby, DH better get his act together, or he will be opening all the presents himself on Christmas day!
pear / 1787 posts
@lulu22: haha whenever people ask me what i want for christmas i always say "baby stuff" and people get mad at me! my dh is like this is the last year you'll ever get stuff for yourself so make it count and he refuses to buy baby stuff... but he knows i've wanted the nursery item for YEARS so now is just my excuse to get it. you're so lucky your dh is on board haha. should be a pretty exciting holiday season for all of us with our bumps and upcoming babes! i'm sure my parents and inlaws will be spoiling the baby even though she isn't here yet. my mom already made her a stocking haha.
question for you guys. is it too early to feel baby hiccup? this morning i could feel her and if it wasn't hiccups, she has amazing rhythm because it was perfectly timed movements! haha.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@loki: @lulu22: I told my mom I wanted baby stuff and she said no, i had to pick something for me... ugh.. don't they know how much baby stuff there is and how quickly it adds up! plus I don't really need or want anything!
