@psw27: yay! glad to hear everything went well
@abbydabbydoodlebug: you can always just hang out with us either way

With most of us having good appointments behind them, what are you guys thinking about telling others?
We told our families and closest friends right after BFP. Now I'm looking to tell close but non-BFF friends and my boss, who is incredibly supportive. Now it feels weird to just bring up in conversation though, so I'm struggling with that.

@JennyPenny: We've told our families and I told my work bff and my assistant principal since I've had to leave early for a few appointments. I think we may tell a few more friends after my 2nd ultrasound tomorrow to figure out my due date. The anxious person in me just wants to make sure everything is ok first! Otherwise, I'd like to try and wait for 12 weeks. I hid it for a long time last pregnancy, but I think I'm going to show a lot faster this time.

@psw27: yay for a great visit! glad it went so well!
@JennyPenny: we're still holding out for the most part! Have told a couple of close friends but no family/ work yet.....may try to make it to 12 weeks first. Have another ultrasound on the 27th, so will decide after that!

@JennyPenny: We told people at 8w1d because we had already had to tell a large portion or people we work with. In retrospect, even if we weren't in that unique position where people at work have to know, I still would likely be impatient and spill the beans "early."

@JennyPenny: I've told a handful of people - my mom, dad, MIL and step-FIL know. I haven't told my FIL because he is a facebook loving news spreader (He announced my last pregnancy...mmm...). My brother and SIL also know. I have told a few friends but plan to wait to 12-14 weeks to tell work, more people, etc. I'm hoping to get through the NT ultrasound first, just to make sure everything is going okay. For some reason, measuring a little behind has made me freak out - even though I expected it sort of.

@psw27: I'm feeling the exact same way as you. I was totally freaked out when they ordered a higher tech scan for measurements and everything to double check my due date. I keep telling myself that the dr didn't seem concerned, so I should take that approach as well...but it's tough!

@psw27: so glad your appt went well!! And a bday twin would be so fun!!!!
@JennyPenny: My parents know, as well as my close friends, coworkers, and boss. Not that I want to go through it again, but I wouldn't be one to hide from or not talk about it if something bad did happen. That being said, DH hasn't told his family yet. We will probably tell more people after my maternal fetal medicine appt tomorrow.
Well, I've definitely nauseous 90% of the time now. Weirdly, I wake up feeling totally fine, then the nausea gets progressively worse throughout the day. Yesterday, I threw up for the first time in 3 pregnancies! I still don't feel hungry at all, but I ate something totally weird last night (you know, like the pickle and ice cream cliche combo), which DH thought was hysterical. I ate pinapple dipped in bbq sauce (we were at a BBQ place). Whatever, it was good.

@Mamag511: I know, I keep having to talk myself down. One cause it was a vag ultrasound (TMI sorry) and those are not as accurate. Two I actually suspected late O because I didn't get a BFP as early as I expected too. I think I might be disappointed too cause I feel like crap and I'm counting the seconds until the second trimester.

@psw27: Last time I literally felt instantly better the day I ticked over to the 2nd trimester. It was insane. So I hear ya - every day counts!
I did end up telling my boss yesterday on my way out. He's super excited I'm really lucky to work at a family friendly company and with a really supportive boss/team.

@bubblegum: I'm game! I'll take a picture after lunch when its sure to grow. Our office cafe is having a special breakfast for lunch event where you just load up your plate and pay by weight. It's gonna be amazing!!

Unfortunately, I won't be staying with you ladies. I went for my 2nd dating scan today, and we found out that the pregnancy wasn't viable.
I can't thank you all enough for being such a caring and supportive group to spend the last few weeks with. Wishing you and those babies all the best

@Mamag511: oh no. I'm so sorry to see this. Big hugs to you and your family.

Is anyone talking baby names with your SO yet? SO and I have come up with a cute girl name but there is a bit of a problem with it. After I told my Aunt that I like that name last year, it's what she named her cat.
nectarine / 2636 posts
@littleblessings: oh man. That stinks.
We have had a boy name picked out since we were dating....lol. Andrew Franklin. Andrew after my brother who passed away, and Franklin is my DH's middle name and his dad's middle name and his grandfather's middle name.
As far as a girl goes, DH is certain this will be a boy do we don't need any girl names! Lol! But my DD is Lily so I might name a girl another floral name. Hehe.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: we have Nova Jade but my Aunt named her cat Nova after I specifically told her its our girl name. So frustrating. Debating on keeping it now. If I keep the name my Aunt might get mad, then again it was the name I said I wanted to use. Idk.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: @littleblessings: we have a girl name, if my cousin doesn't steal it first (long and annoying story but I don't think she's pregnant so...should be in the clear). For boys we are close but not in agreement. I'm pretty sure it's a girl so we shall see!

@littleblessings: I would use the name anyway. And how rude of your aunt. Grrrrr.
nectarine / 2649 posts
@littleblessings: I agree with @psw27 - definitely keep that name if you love it. You had told your aunt, and SHE chose to use that name, knowing it might be a duplicate. And I can say as a cat owner, a cat is just a cat. If she had named her daughter Jade, then maybe reconsider, but I wouldn't think twice about a cat! How obnoxious though

@psw27: @yellowbeach: I'm thinking that we will use it. My family tends to be obnoxious. Lol. It's literally the only name SO and I agree on for either sex. Boys name is just a no go. We have nothing. He likes more common names and I like unique or old fashioned.
coffee bean / 25 posts
@littleblessings: I would totally still use the name that you planned!! We are starting to think of a few names but so far have only come up with boy names that we both agree on. This will be interesting!

I haven't updated recently, I've been working a lot. I've felt sick some days but other days aren't too bad. I'm usually pretty tired- slept most of the day yesterday to catch up after a busy week!
We told some family members yesterday because my husband's cousin questioned why I wasn't drinking beer at the beer fest party. I was happy to share, just didn't want to make a big fuss. Everyone was very happy for us, they had their kids with similiar 3.5 year age gaps and liked it so that was encouraging.
I have my mid year review (late) at work this week and I was considering telling my boss as we look ahead to my projects in the coming months, but my maternity leave is still so far away, I guess it won't really affect that.

My due date was changed from April 14th to April 13th which is the birthday of a really close family friend who was my babysitter from birth until I was about 10. I'm thrilled. I've only told the necessary people so far and I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to wait. With my first I wanted until I was 18 weeks to make sure everything was alright.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@Megatherium: aw that's special, I hope he/she arrives on the due date!
I just told my boss because I got to work and threw up about 15 times and was crying. I didn't want him to think I was just a mess for no reason. He was excited but felt really bad I've been so sick. He's the best! I feel better now that he knows since I've been pretty worthless lately!

SO still hasn't told his family about the new baby. He wants us to tell them together. His sister is asking questions since I was gagging in front of her yesterday.

@Mamag511: I'm so sorry
My exhaustion is killing me and today (I'm only 8 weeks) I started getting "lightning crotch", which I had no idea you could get so early. I'm kinda freaked out that something could be wrong!
