@JennyLayneAZ: How's the sleep going since moving B to the crib? I find me and baby always sleep so much better when we're not together...

  2. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: she's doing pretty good! She usually wakes up 2 times to eat, once pretty early, around 9 or so, and again between midnight and 1, then she usually sleeps until 530 at least.

God to hear your post vacation diet is going well. Sorry about the spotting 😐

I came down with a bug this week, today is day 3 of staying home. Got tested for Covid off course, that came back negative thankfully. Somehow I managed to lose 2.1 lbs this week, so, yay!

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: Ugh, I'm sorry you're sick, but I'm definitely glad it isn't COVID. I hope you're feeling better already. And yay for the weight loss! The scale has been going down a little bit every morning for me since I started tracking my calories which has been a huge motivator. L also eats twice per night now that we're home. We usually put her down around 7:30, then DH gives her a bottle at 11:30, then she wakes up around 4 for nursing and up for the day again between 7 and 8. Part of me worries that if I try pushing the 4am feed any later she'll just be up for the day at 5 or 6.

ETA: I also still have no idea if this is AF or not. It's day 2 of somewhere between light flow and spotting, but with my boys when AF came back she came back with a vengeance so who knows...

ETA again: Actually, I just remembered that with both boys I had midcycle spotting while on the minipill. With DS2 I stopped taking the pill the first time it happened, so one heavy AF, then spotting 2 weeks later and then I quit the pill. Then I didn't have another period for 2 months... So I wonder if this is spotting because of the mini pill again...

Sorry I’ve been MIA ladies, starting back to work, especially working from home. It’s a blessing in that I don’t miss any milestone (except when I leave the room and someone flips over)... and that my job allows it... but I find I just rotate thru being good at one thing and bad at everything else. But that’s ok, this is the time to allow for grace right?!

Ok so way to go on the loosing weight workout plan! I was so encouraged by your journeys that I started looking for a plan... I stopped weighing in, after my initial loss I started gaining while trying to watch what I ate. So now just focused on maintaining milk supply and working out. I am LOVING bodyfit by amy on youtube. She has post p workouts that are so encouraging and positive (and short). She has a month long schedule on instagram. Anyway, so glad I check in, it’s hard to believe how old our babies are... I felt some movement in my lower abdomen and had to remind myself I’m not prego.

@JennyPenny: oh man, that sucks about the mini pill breakthrough spotting. I definitely miss not having a period LOL

@Bmaja: Welcome back And yes, right now we all deserve some grace, this is all so difficult.

Oh man ladies, I think we've hit the 4 month sleep regression. Sunday night was HORRIBLE. We have an app with our baby cam that takes a snap anytime it detects movement or sound (you can adjust the sensitivity for both) so I checked how many times I went in her room...25. TWENTY FIVE. Ugh I was so tired yesterday. Last night was better, but she had a party this morning at 4

Also, I bought a two pack of zen sleep sacks, and she sleeps horrible with out it. So, I think I'll have to buy some more.

@Bmaja: I'm glad you found workouts you like! It's so important for actually doing it...

@JennyLayneAZ: Oh no! I think we're also about to have a sleep regression too but tied to rolling over. L has mastered back to tummy the last few days and so we decided today we need to stop swaddling her. Of course her first nap unswaddled she kept immediately rolling to her tummy and screaming her head off. We used to be able to swaddle, give a paci and she'd be asleep in a few minutes without even fussing. It took 45 minutes to get her down just now....ugh...I'm scared for the rest of the day.

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: oh man, that's rough. We stopped swaddling her a while ago, so its been a step by step process. But, yes, the rolling over definitely has a part in her bad sleep. Some nights she sleeps on her tummy just fine. Some nights she gets pissed if she rolls over lol She seems to prefer her side, which is fine if she can stay there. Now, if she could figure out how to put her binky in her mouth, we'd be all set lol

Good luck for sleep today lol

We had the 4 month well check this morning. B is looking really good. Her stats:

    Weight: 13 lbs 11 oz (48%)
    Height: 25 in (75%)
    Head Circumference: 16 in (50%)

@JennyLayneAZ: nice! Our 4 month appt is Monday and I can’t wait to see how she’s grown.

I’m also pleased to report that yesterday’s awful naps did not continue today. In fact, I’d say today is the best nap day of her life! 🤞 she was always meant to be a tummy sleeper and this is a sign of good things to come!

    @JennyPenny: 😁 that's fantastic!

You guys! I’m so excited! Daycare is reopening Oct 5!!! I’ve been back at work almost a month now and starting to feel like we may need to find care outside our beloved daycare because they had no planned reopening date. I booked a tour for a new place next week and then today we got the announcement that we’re reopening!!! I’m so ecstatic!

  12. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: yay, congrats! Im sure its been a bit overwhelming! I can't imagine trying to do it all at once!

So, anyone else dealing with the 4 month sleep regression? It's been almost 2 weeks for us, and I'm not sure I can handle it much longer. 😴😴😴

But, she is cute, so that helps 😂🤣

  14. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: Ahh! So cute! I’m not sure we’re in a regression, but I’ve decided I’m ready to sleep train. We’ve been doing a gentle method or 3 nights now and I can’t say I’ve seen any improvement 😕 I’m also trying to get her naps to be more predictable during the day and that did go very well today, so that’s a win. And I’ll add a cute pic too because this face just lights up my days!

  15. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

Well, last night I decided to be less gentle. I turned off the sound on the monitor and opened my bedroom door. I figured I’d hear her if she got really really upset, but not otherwise. She ended up sleeping till 8 though I don’t know what her night looked like at all I assume it wasn’t too bad for her though

  16. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: that sounds lovely. DD2s room is right next to ours, so, no sound on the monitor, and she still wakes me up throughout lol so I'm sure your dd had a fine night. It's 550 am here and the whole family is awake 😒 usually DD1 will sleep until about 7, so i dunno what is going on.

  17. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: and I just realized I didn't respond yesterday, but, your dd is adorable 🤗

  18. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

Checking in! @bmaja and I were talking about foods on the thread I just started, but I figured we could chat more here too. We started DD on purée a few days ago and so far it seems to be going well. She’s had sweet potato and carrots and seems to especially love the carrots! Food is definitely one of my love languages so I’m absolutely loving this stage of introducing her to the joys of food

I haven’t been on here in a while - these baby pictures are so insanely cute! @JennyPenny: What is that little onesie you have DD in? That’s impressive that she is already swallowing and trying to feed herself!

Yep I’m excited to start talking food - it’s hard to believe it’s that time - we are a little behind you though. A only wants to drink out of every cup we hold. Bathtime is a little dangerous cuz she’ll grab the toys and pour into her mouth.

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: aww ❤ we haven't started solids yet, but we will soon. It's orange veggies first, right? All my Dr said at her 4 month check in was to start with rice cereal, which I'm not excited about lol but I thought next was orange veggies.

I haven't really been around much lately. B is 5 months now, her sleep is still crap, and shes acting like she's teething, but it seems like she's getting molars, which obviously she's not lol

Work has been super busy, we had to let someone go, so things got shifted and im back in my old position until we hire someone new.

I think B is close to crawling and sitting up on her own.

  21. JennyPenny

@Bmaja: It was from old navy. Doesn't look like they have that one anymore but this is the same style with a different pattern: https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=581736002 I'm in love with all the florals they have for fall too though!

@JennyLayneAZ: Interesting! I never heard of "orange veggies first" I just start with veggies cause it seems easier to go from veggie to fruit than the other way around, and sweet potatoes and carrots seem like a nice, sweeter veggie. And B looks so cute in her jumper! I can't believe how fast these babies have grown!

  22. Bmaja

@JennyPenny: ha of course all the sizes are too small... I’ve got a possible WNBA player on my hands.

Ok so A is rolling from back to front but gets stuck and won’t roll onto her stomach. She can roll from her side back. Anybody got any tricks?

  23. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: we’re in the same boat. She rolls to her tummy constantly but not the other way. I’m fine with it though cause I worry that once she starts rolling both ways she’ll just roll all around the house and I won’t be able to just set her somewhere anymore. 😛

Which reminds me that our daycare reopens at the start of Oct and I have to decide when to send her back 😬 I kept saying I need her in daycare before she’s mobile but I am going to miss having her home. Also feeling scared about Covid and other exposures as it gets colder and we enter flu season. I wish some magical power could tell me the right choice

  24. JennyPenny

Also, I want to add that my postpartum hair loss kicked in a few weeks ago and it is just ridiculous. Thank goodness no one can see me really right now...

  25. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: I think the orange veggie thing has to do with food allergies, but, I could be remembering wrong. It has been 4 years LOL and OMG my PP hair loss is ridiculous right now too. My hair has been in a pony tail/bun for like 3 weeks straight because of it. Also, a lot of my hair is breaking where my highlights end (um, which I last had done around this time last year lol so, my "roots" are super long) so I have these random in between hairs too. The reason it looks so bad to me is because my hair is super long, like, to my waist. So, I have that, then medium length broken hair, then the super short things sticking out of my scalp lol uh, what a mess.

@Bmaja: just time...B can roll both directions, but still gets her arm stuck when she goes front to back. I think she'll have it figured out soon though.

  26. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

Oh! I forgot LOL I "fed" B some rice cereal Saturday. She didn't eat any of it LOL So, I'll try again next weekend, etc, until she starts swallowing it and then we'll move onto veggies from there.

  27. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: so I broke down and gave A an entire apple slice and a stick pretzel to suck on... she looooved them.

If she could sit up better I would so be starting her on solids. My girl is in the 97%tile in length (which means we are already in 12 mo clothes) but developmentally she’s on track for 4.5 mo old. Looking at her I think it’s about time she was walking. Hahaha.

Ok so have your babies started mimicking? Yesterday out of the blue A started wrinkling her nose when she laughs or is pissed. It was hilarious and random. Then i figured out it was me doing it to her.

  28. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: I have a friend with a large-for-age kid and she says it’s hard because so many people think that he should be far more advanced than he is because they judge his size not his age! I hope that doesn’t end up happening for your daughter. Also, I don’t think we have any mimicking going on yet here, but I do think it was around this age with DS1 that I had a cold and was fake coughing copying my cold!!

  29. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@Bmaja: that sounds too cute 💜 no mimicking over here yet. Dd1 is tall too, so people have always thought she were older. When she was 2, the clerk at dunkin donuts handed het a box of donuts to carry, I freaked out and had to pry them out of her hands, the clerk said she thought she was 5!!! 🤦‍♀️

We're in 6 month sizing, so probably pretty normal? But a lot of our 6 month clothes are long sleeved, and it's definitely not cold here yet. We're still having excessive heat warnings 😩 (our clothes are all from dd1)

  30. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: The weather here is just starting to turn cool and I am loving it! I washed all of Lily's long sleeves (9 mo size) clothes just yesterday. Right now her drawers are stuffed though because I have summer and fall stuff in there because we'll probably go back and forth between cold and scorching for a while. NC weather is amusingly variable. I remember this winter we had snow one day and a high of 75 the next....

  31. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: I am so ready for cooler weather. I think my 4 year old is trying to make it turn cold, she's been wearing her sweater in the morning because we had one day that was in the 70s in the morning lol I'm so over summer it's not even funny. It's just been so so hot and dry. Our monsoon season was an absolute joke this year 🤦‍♀️

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: lol, that seems awful! I was in AZ for a conference in July last year and I was shocked that people can survive in that heat. It's insane...

  34. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: it's not usually that bad lol we just spend our summers indoors or in the pool. Or, up north lol.
But I feel the same about snow 🤷‍♀️🤣
And you guys have hurricanes and stuff 😱

  35. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: lol, I feel like people from California say that about hurricanes when I comment on how glad I am that we don't have to deal with earthquakes. But at least we get lots of days of heads up about hurricanes! I'm with you on the snow though. I like where we are. We get maybe one or two snow days a year and the whole town usually shuts down because of it

  36. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: oh that sounds nice. I could handle a couple of snow days lol
I don't do earthquakes either. Or tornados. As much as I would love to live somewhere else, I'm quite happy with the boring old dry heat we have. No huge disasters. 🤷‍♀️

Hi, how is everyone? Any updates?

B is sleeping better. No teeth yet 😢 shes getting fussier and fussier. Rash around her mouth, so, hopefully soon.

6 month check up went well. She's also sitting unassisted now. 😊 not crawling yet, but getting close i think.

  38. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

Um, my photos didn't post 🤔

  39. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

  40. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: Cute! Her height and weight stats remind me of DS1 - he's my tall skinny kid And I love the sitting unassisted but not yet crawling phase - probably my favorite phase of babyhood.

We haven't had our 6 mo check up yet so I'll post stats after that, but things are going well here. We had a pretty good sleep/eat routine down for like a month but lately it's all gone to trash again. Just in time for DST and starting daycare Lily will be heading to daycare for the first time at the start of November, which has me feeling just about every emotion possible. She's not crawling yet (or sitting) but I'd call her mobile. She rolls all over the place and so its hard to keep an eye on her and get our work done from home. We've been doing purees for about a month now and its going great. We're introducing some finger foods too and she seems to enjoy it.
