I've had 3 people offer to plan a shower :). My cousin really wants to do it so at some point I'll start talking to her about it. Probably after we all get back from a big family wedding next month.

My brother's wife is hosting my baby shower. My mom has offered to have it at her house, which is very surprising and nice!! I'm already getting excited and don't know where to start! I've been looking at past blogs and posts for ideas.
My work will also host a shower. Someone mentioned on some site to wait to buy anything until after your showers, so that's my plan for now.

my friend just texted me about wanting to throw a sprinkle for baby#2. i'm excited!! Its just going to be something small but happy we can celebrate this lo!

I have had 3 friends offer to host a shower. I'm pretty excited! It took me awhile to get on board with the shower - I feel like people just did the whole wedding showers 2 years ago... I don't want to be a costly friend! They told me I was being silly.

@locavore_mama: Yes, her MIL and SIL are involved too. We are all so excited for their first. They are TG but I think we have a really cute theme for the shower picked out.

@T.H.O.U.: This is my other SIL who's planning the party (she's not pregnant).
I haven't heard any more news about pregnant SIL... we're still hoping it ends up not being too serious.

I'm going to miss the excitement of a big shower and registering for all the cute things this time around!!
Work is wanting to throw me a shower - I'm fine with this, since I'm new to them and it's not like this will be a second shower they're giving me/attending.
A friend from back home is wanting to throw me a second shower - I'm not loving this idea. One, I only ever go home maybe once or twice a year, so I hardly ever see my friends/family. It kind of sucks to be asking them go to 2 showers for me? Two, I really don't need anything 
I think I might ask her to just do some sort of casual tea or something - no presents, just girl time and hanging out.

I have 2 sets of really close girl friends plus my cousin who all want to throw me a shower. So I literally have 12 people throwing my shower. Im grateful for everyone's excitement and support but it feels like it's too many cooks in the kitchen. But I'm happy to let them work it out. They're throwing it in June since I'm having twins and could realistically deliver early.

@swurlygurl: For my daughter, it was really nice to do a sip & see back home so they could all meet the baby. I figured those people were more interested in seeing the baby rather than showering US with gifts. it worked out really well.

My MIL and my sister are planning one for me! We just discussed it last night, it's a toss up between having it in my MIL's backyard or this nice place on the beach for a brunch. I'm glad it's not a surprise. Work will prob do a surprise one - we always plan surprise baby showers for the pregnant ladies.

When I wasn't even pregnant, my mom mentioned throwing me a shower for baby #2. My sis was pregnant with her third at the time and my mom had offered to throw her a shower and I told my mom she could call it a sprinkle. She never heard of that but liked the idea. So I'm hoping my mom will offer to throw me a sprinkle. It's ok to hint to my mom about a sprinkle, right? Side note: my sis didn't even take her up on the offer! And let a friend throw her one. I think once she heard "sprinkle", she didn't want that. I think she wanted a full on shower. lol
I think I would want it to be pretty small. Close family and friends. Definitely won't register. We don't need anything big. Really the only thing we "need" are some girly clothes.

My sister just mentioned a shower to me today actually! I'm guessing that she and my mom will put something together. I just got married in September and had my bridal shower last June so I feel like the past year has been me me me me me. They both are very excited about the baby though so I am thinking something low key will be fine.
Where is everyone thinking about registering?

@MrsT927: This was also part of the reason we did something later so that it added some space between our wedding events and the baby.

Soo i never registered for my wedding or anything so i'm not sure how this works - do you have to go to the place to build a registry? or can i just do it right online? do you recommend actually going to the place?

@chibee: DH and I had fun actually going to the place to register for our wedding registry so we'll probably do the same with the baby registry! I think you can do it all online, though.

@chibee: I think you can do either! I actually hated doing it store (Bed Bath & Beyond), but everyone is different. So far, I'm working on an Amazon registry. I especially like that it shows reviews. I'll probably go to a Babies R Us at some point just to check out some big things like strollers.

@chibee: i did mine online for my wedding and baby registry. i'm too lazy to go to the store i liked begin able to do alittle bit at a time and reading reviews at the same time. BUT i really want to use that registry gun someday!! hah

@chibee: whatever works for you but I do recommend going to the store if you can. They have so much more available and I love touching and seeing things in person. For example all pack and plays look the same online but once you see them in person you can really tell which ones are worth the money. Not all things are created equal. I also wanted to check out the strollers/travel systems in person. Which were easy to bring up and down and how heavy the base was without baby.

(Board hopping) @chibee: I agree with @Mrs.Someone: that reading all the amazon reviews is really helping while putting my registry together. I don't know how I'd sort through all the options in person.

@chibee: I suggest a combination, do some research at home and start a list and the registry online. Then go in store and verify what you have in person. Then come home and research some more!

Regarding registering... It really sucks that Ikea does not have a gift registry! We're planning on getting almost everything from there. Maybe we'll ask for Ikea gift cards? But I know when I attend a shower I like to bring a physical gift. We'll probably make a small registry at Babies R Us or something.

@pui: Maybe you could put Ikea things on an Amazon universal registry. Shower guests wouldn't be able to use it like a traditional registry, but they could see what you wanted from there and maybe bring their own print out. Not super convenient, but maybe worth a try?

@pui: I was going to suggest the same as jennypenny if you have a Ikea near you. It's a pain but they can go on your Amazon registry and mark it as purchased. Though don't count on people doing that!

@pui: Im sure there will still be lots of things you need from a regular store like BRU and Target. I mean, Ikea doesn't carry baby bottles or pacifiers do they?

@T.H.O.U.: No that's true. It's more that all the "big things" we're getting from Ikea. I'll still need soothers, bottles, receiving blankets... stuff like that.

@pui: I just saw that if you sign up with BRU by today you can get 10% of registry purchases back via gift card. This could be huge (up to $200) for new moms that have a larger registry! I made a fake registry for now!

@T.H.O.U.: Oh yeah, we do have Babies R Us and we do plan on resgistering there too. Never heard the abbreviation before!
