@StrawberryBee: thank you. Unfortunately, Our room is too small for a bed for him, and DH can't deal with baby noises...
@skipper2010: thank you. I haven't tried hanging a t shirt or anything, maybe I will! Sorry to hear your little one wants to party too. What's the deal with that?!
@Grace: thank you! I'm feeling better today.
@delight: thank you! It's really frustrating not being able to hold him. He's 11lbs and just feels like a ton of bricks! Can't wait to hear about your baby shower!!
@Alivoo01: thanks. I know what you mean, Lukas is totally the length of the chair! Has Collin had his 2 month shots yet?
@lawbee11: thank you. I am so thankful for DH. I seriously don't know what I'd do without that guy.
@MrsB2012: girl, you need to get yourself out to do something for you!! Being a mom at home can get so lonely. I believe it's so important to do special things for yourself.
@Sapphiresun: thanks. Sounds like you're going to have a rough time too soon. sometimes I wish I was magical. Bed times would be so easy... Damn muggles...
By some wild miracle, Lukas slept 5 hours straight last night. I got 3.5 hours of solid sleep. It was glorious. However, then he woke up every 1.5 hours after that. So, I started reading the sleep chapters of the baby whisperer. I find myself nodding along to a lot of what I read.... I started doing some of the techniques today for naps and I'm hoping things start turning around. I guess I'm starting to sleep train. Lolz.

Not going to lie. I suck responding to this. I read it and keep up with you guys though! Lol.
I was thinking, of any of you guys have IG we could keep up with each other on there too.

I finally got a good picture of Sawyer's smile! I've been trying for a couple weeks now!

@JamieLee: OMG!!! That smiles melts my heart!!! I totally can relate on trying to capture a smile on camera. DS has smiled/laughed/coo a lot but it's always off camera. When I bust out the camera (iPhone), he stops and I'm sad... LOL!!
@.twist.: Collin had his 2 month shots last Monday. He was sleepy all day afterwards and was clingy the following day, but was normal otherwise. No fever! Yay! How about Lukas?

@Mrs Hedgehog: what's your IG account?
@JamieLee: OMG!! Such a precious little smile! What a cutie! It's so hard catching Lukas smile on camera! Little stinker always stops as soon as I put my phone in his face haha
@Alivoo01: about the same.
Anyone else dealing with dairy or other food intolerances? I have a feeling Lukas has a dairy intolerance, it's either that or .... Teething...

@JamieLee: adorbs!!!!
Last few days have been rough. Hannah cluster feeds all evening. Last night I'm pretty sure she drained me dry because she became inconsolable when she tried to nurse after the first couple of hours! I tried offering her a soother to give myself some time to a) fill back up and b) get ready for bed. She gagged on it and then vomited (not spit-up) everything that she had eaten all evening. All over herself and me... I could have cried!
She's a different baby in the mornings... This pic is from her 1 month birthday!!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Ocean girl: K is doing the same thing - she eats like mad all evening, and then freaks out because its not coming out fast enough. Hopefully its just a growth spurt, and supply catches up soon!

@redsmarties: so nice to know its normal behavior! I hope for both of our sakes that its over soon! However, DH did bring up a good point...it could be happening in the middle of the night!

@.twist.: congrats on the long stretch of sleep for both you and LO! Isn't it amazing how good 3.5 hrs of sleep feels? Pre-pregnancy I was a solid 8-10 straight hrs per night, kind of girl! Now I celebrate if I get more than 3 hrs in a row.
I have started a bad habit in letting H nap in my arms during the day. Must. Try. Harder. To. Put. Her. In. Her. Crib!
but she's just so darn cuddly!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Ocean girl: I find myself holding DS a little longer as he's falling asleep for his naps during the day since I go back to work soon. Agree that they're just so darn cuddly!!

@.twist.: we're off dairy these days. I've been dairy free since little guy was about three weeks.
@Ocean girl: we've got the same thing going on here, but I feel like it's all day, not just in the evening, and he gets so mad when the milk is gone. It's frustrating!
So today, Sawyer didn't want to go down for a nap all day. He got up at 8, napped for 20 minutes around 1 and finally FINALLY just fell asleep at 6:30. Anyone else's LO fighting naps like it's their job? I'm concerned about how this is going to affect tonight's sleep...

@.twist.: a little late to the party here but that's awesome L slept 5 hours! You must have felt like a new woman. Let us know how the sleep training goes!
@JamieLee: so cute. I'm loving the smile pictures! I'll try to snap one of Liv tomorrow. I get the most smiles in the morning!
@Ocean girl: she has been cluster feeding the last few evenings too. She's sleepy also at this time so she'll fall asleep and lose her latch which wakes her up and she cries until my boob is back in her mouth. Poor babies.
@Alivoo01: glad C did well with his 2 month shots. I'm not looking forward to that but ours aren't til the 18th. I can't believe some of our August babes have had their two month appointments already!
@Sapphiresun: adorable!! Love the scrunchy nose!
@skipper2010: sorry for you ladies that are gearing up for going back to work
I had my shower yesterday which was great. Liv got lots of amazing gifts. It was a bit overwhelming because we already have so much stuff! It wAs great to see people that I don't get to see often. I'm glad we had our shower after she was born so everyone could meet her. She was a bit out of sorts in the evening because she missed her afternoon nap and was passed around to lots of different people. However, it was still a great day.
I had my 6 week appointment today and doc says everything looks like it has healed. I've never looked down there myself. Haha. I'm feeling good and am excited to start running again.
Thanks to all who commented on bottle feeding. I was having DH and the grandmas do it, not me. I should leave the house though. I try to stay away but then hear her cry and intervene. We have weddings this weekend and next and she is being babysat so hopefully she can figure it out this week.
Here's my fav picture so far. Can you tell we were team green? There's a pink blanket somewhere underneath!

@JamieLee: I wish! I can't keep the girl awake which means it gets harder at night. She either wakes up once or twice a night or every two hours. It all depends on her sleep during the day and she LOVES her sleep. Just like her mama.... who isn't getting any.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@JamieLee: We have days like that, too, where she just decides that napping isn't for her. Our worst day was an awake stretch from 2pm to 10pm. Yikes.
@delight: Wahoo for healing! Our 6 week appointment isn't until Wednesday, but I'm hoping that everything's clear. Our 2 month shots are on the 17th - so sad.
Since you're all posting adorable photos, I need to share, as well. Here's K at 6 weeks.

aww, love everyone's pics of their LO's! Our two month checkup is on the 10th. I did a photoshoot with E on Saturday with a pumpkin (hee). I carved it out as much as I could, put a plastic bag inside, then a blanket, then a pretty coordinating fabric (my nursing cover, actually) and placed E inside it. I can't believe she fit! Highly recommend this to everyone who has access to pumpkins...they'll never fit in one again! ;D
For me, I'm pretty sure my infection is still there, but I'm so tired of dealing with it that I'm applying the OTC cream and hoping that the other stuff I used (which is supposed to actually clear it) finally takes effect. Meh. Also, my nips seem really sensitive...not sure if this is a delayed reaction to BFing, or thrush? I keep on checking her mouth and I don't see anything out of the ordinary, and they don't itch.
After some nights of sleep regression (I guess?) we got a long haul of sleep last night, for which I am most grateful. She went to sleep at 1:30 and didn't wake up until 6:30. Bliss. She's been sleeping steadily now for several hours; I'm a little afraid for sleep tonight.

@JamieLee: Ah so sweet! What a cute smile! Our babies are twins--M is usually a decent napper but she would not nap today. It was super frustrating. Luckily she passed out after her bath. I hope she sleeps a longgg time!
@Ocean girl: M spits up a lot and every time she does a little piece of me dies as I watch my liquid gold cover her clothes and mine. Such a cute pic! I am so glad they're all smiling now
@Sapphiresun: Aww! Cute little face!!
@delight: Her lips are gorgeous! Glad your shower went well!
@redsmarties: Cutie!!
@StrawberryBee: I am going to have to find one big pumpkin if I am going to get M to fit inside! Sooo cute!! Sorry about the infection
We had M's two-month checkup on Friday. She was not a fan of the shots but I nursed her immediately afterwards and she was fine. She weighs 11lbs 7oz (62nd percentile and 4lbs up from her birth weight!) and is 22.75 inches long (73rd percentile). Last night her first stretch of sleep was 7 hours...it was amazeballs.
Here's a pic of her from yesterday...she actually likes tummy time!

@skipper2010: Aww that would be so hard. I would be a mess of a Mama if I had to go back to leave her already. Good luck! I'm sure your little one is in very capable hands.
@delight: I sent the picture to my mom and was like "I have no idea why she scrunches up her nose like that" and was informed I smile the exact same way when I smile genuinely - not posed for pictures. So I guess she IS learning something from staring at my face all day long.
@Mrs Hedgehog: Oh, duh. I have the app but have never actually used it. I used to be so hip... now I'm just old.
@delight: Adorable!
@redsmarties: So cute. Loving the baby marathon here!
@StrawberryBee: I wanted to do this! It's not quite pumpkin patch season here yet though, so hopefully she still fits when we go to carve our Halloween ones.
@StrawberryBee: My nips have been feeling a little extra sensitive too. I'm thinking maybe since she got the hang of eating, I stopped really checking her latch, and maybe she got a little lazy sometimes... since they don't itch either, and no damage to the skin, just feel almost bruised? As for the sleep, hopefully sleep begets sleep!
@lawbee11: Wow, she is right up on her arms. What a strong girl!
N has her two month appointment tomorrow. Luckily my husband can come with me. I'm totally going to make him hold her while she gets vaccinated so she hates him not me. Mostly kidding. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

@.twist.: Thank goodness for the longer sleep! You must have felt amazing. As for food, I think tomatoes mess with her system. I was eating a lot of them out of the garden for awhile.
What cutie pie smiles! I'm still only getting sleep smiles. I can't wait for the real thing?
@Ocean girl: I hope the cluster feeding ends soon! I think Paige sucks me dry sometimes too, but I know it's not true. I do think it gets to the point where it's coming out too slow for her liking!
@JamieLee: Oh that's a rough nap day! I had one like that last week, eventually I just gave up and let her be awake. My aunt came later that day to visit and used her fresh energy to get her to sleep. Ugh, that was a frustrating day!
@lawbee11: 7 hours!!! Wow - I can't wait.
Glad the shots seem to be going well!

@redsmarties: so cute! Good luck at your appointment this week! I love how you and I have all our appointments so close together. And that we are both SLPs. And that we are both from the same province.
@StrawberryBee: love love love the pumpkin shot. I remember when I found out I was having a baby in August one of the first things I was excited about was a fall/pumpkins photo shoot. I am totally getting L in a pumpkin this weekend.
So sorry about your infection, that seriously sucks. I hope she doesn't have thrush.
@lawbee11: she's such a strong girl, wow! And so big! That is great weight gain! A 7 hour stretch sounds awesome. We are close but not quite there and every day is different. She usually does 5 or 6 for first stretch but tonight she just did 2. Seven sounds like heaven!
@Sapphiresun: I hope your appointment goes well. My DH is taking the day off for ours too. I want him to take pictures for the a scrapbook! Hehe. I'm sure your LO will do great and will be back to scrunchy-nosed smiles in no time!
@Grace: you will get real smiles soon! I started seeing them in week 5! It's awesome!
Is everyone giving tylonel before the shots or just after? @.twist.: and @alivoo01: what did you girls do?
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Grace: I think tomatoes are a thing too. Quite a few people brought us lasagnes/other tomato type cassaroles and I started noticing after about 4 times eating them that she seemed to be way fussier on the tomato days too.
@delight: I'm giving the baby acetaminophen (mine's just generic) after the shots, mostly because on the bottle says between 0-3 months or before 11lbs to consult your dr for how much to give. So, I won't know dosage until she's weighed and the dr tells me how much she can have.

@Sapphiresun: I didn't realize you were from the PNW, I am too!
It is so hard updating from my phone, I'll gave to reply more tomorrow.
I love seeing all the smiley babies, so cute!!
I go back to work tomorrow, I did 't realize that it was the rnd of September until yesterday. I am so so sad, Charlie is going with me though. It's still going to be rough, I know there's a huge stack waiting for me. Oh I have nowhere for Maddy to go, my Mom is busy and since I've been on unpaid leave daycare is out. I don't think I'll be working out of the house much longer, it's not feasable.
I know they say you can't spoil a baby but she sure is gettin use to falling asleep on my chest after I fall asleep at the 2am feeding. Not good, not good at all.

@StbHisMrs: oh, I probably said that to get an idea of weather somewhere?? I'm from Vancouver Canada (so technically our pacific south west I suppose) but since most people on this site are American it's sometimes easier to explain that it rains all the time but doesn't get very cold with a comparison to the pnw.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
@Sapphiresun: that's what I thought I remembered, you mentioning Canada. Yeah I went back a page to catch up reading! I'm in Oregon, did you get hit with the "left over Japanese typhoon"? over the weekend?
nectarine / 2530 posts
@lawbee11: E does the same thing with the spit up! She has spit up after every single freaking feeding since my milk came in. It has gotten a bit better lately though, so I'm hoping her digestion is improving to the point where she'll stop soon. As you say, liquid gold lost ;_;.
OMG, M's smile is the best! And I think you'd be surprised at what she could fit into ;). If you have to you can cut out holes for her legs, but I just kinda tucked E into it and she was fine for the few minutes I snapped photos.
@Sapphiresun: Now that you mention it, this did start when I started doing a few more nursing in bed feedings (on our sides). She definitely has a worse latch then, I 'ooh' the whole time she sucks. Lazy vs. pain.
@delight: Thanks! I also want to take her to a pumpkin patch and snap some pics, but this way the pumpkin itself was only a $6 grocery store investment.
My SIL sent me this article on tylenol and vaccinations. Worth a read. I was told not to dose beforehand because I wouldn't know her weight to know how much to give her. I think I'll only give it to her afterwards if she has a significant temp.
http://children.webmd.com/vaccines/news/20091015/tylenol-may-weaken-infant-vaccines
Poor E, she has gas right now, so she keeps on squirming and tooting in her swing ^^;;. It must not be enough to really irritate her because she's not crying, just grunting lol. Woke her up from her nap, though!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@delight: We bought Tylenol to have on hand but our ped said not to give her any unless she was running a fever and she never did so we didn't give her any.
@StbHisMrs: Hope your first day back goes well. That's awesome that you can bring Charlie with you!
@StrawberryBee: M doesn't spit up after every feed--usually just one or two a day (but it often seems like she's spitting up everything she just ate). When she spits up in the middle of the night is the worst.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@StrawberryBee: This is it, exactly. When I nurse her in bed, I'm so happy to still be laying down, that I don't care that her latch is crap. Until my nipples start to hurt like crazy, and she ends up drooling milk all over the sheets. Lazy mama FTW.
@StbHisMrs: Hope your day at work is going well (or...starting well? I guess you're a few hours behind me, haha).
Took K to the mall today to exchange some clothes, and try to get her used to the stroller (she usually hates it). She squawked a bit, but then fell asleep, and I walked around shopping for almost an hour. Only had to leave because I realized that the diaper bag was out of diapers. Mama fail. But I got my Starbucks, and a sweet new sweater and winter hat for K.

@StbHisMrs: Hope you have an awesome first day of work! Yay for bringing your LO with you!!!
@lawbee11: So darn cute and strong!! And I'm jealous of your long stretch of sleep!!
@strawberrybee: OMG!!! Best pumpkin pic ever!
What time are you ladies starting bedtime routine and what time is considered "bed time"?? DS is still waking up every 2-3 hours, but I'm wondering what y'all consider the official bed time.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@StbHisMrs: Ugh, back to work already? I hope you have a good day!
@redsmarties: Yea for a successful mall trip!
@Alivoo01: I'm curious about bedtime too. We're definitely not close to a routine yet, so it'll be great to see what you ladies do!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Alivoo01: bedtime for us is around 11. Late, but that's when she has her longest stretch (max 5 hours). Then it's every 2 hours after that.
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Grace: I don't really know what "bedtime" is. We usually start the bedtime routine (bath every few days, change her sleeper, read a couple books and have a snuggle, rock to sleep and then put her in her bed with soft music) around 7pm and put her to bed around 8, but she wakes up around 10 and likes to party a bit, and usually again at 1230ish to eat but goes right back to sleep. Then goes back to sleep at 1am and sleeps until 6 or 7am. So, if you count when she starts her longest sleep, she goes to bed at 1am, but that sounds soooo bad!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Grace: I give DS a bath around 8 then give him a bottle afterwards to make sure he gets enough in the tank since we nurse all day. I start putting DS to sleep around 9.
@redsmarties: DS sleeps for about 3 hours as his longest stretch then this past week, has been waking up every 2 hours starting at 3:30am until 6:30/7. A few days before that, he was waking every 1 hour. Oi vey!
Another question: How do you ladies make sure your LO eats enough? DS is a lazy eater and always drifts off to sleep while nursing. I'm wondering if this attributes to him waking up every 2-3 hours?? I've tried tickling his feet and everything to make him stay awake but no dice. Once, I was holding him up and he fell asleep while sitting up!!

@JamieLee: I definitely think its dairy I'm dealing with. His green poop has started going back to normal. So I've completely cut it out. We'll see how this goes. What a bummer! I miss cheeeeeese!
@delight: thanks! It didn't last, but the one time was sure a treat!
@StrawberryBee: my nips were super sensitive during and for a while after thrush. We feel better now, but I did give up on our meds.
@Grace: ugh! How did you figure out it was tomatoes? I would have never guessed something like that. L has had some regular coloured poops since I stopped dairy, so I think that's what it is, unfortunately....
pineapple / 12802 posts
Oops. Pressed submit too soon. Lol.
@delight: we did give him a bit of Tylenol the next day because he was running a low grade fever, but that was it!
@StbHisMrs: thank goodness he can go with you. Sucks you have to go back though. I really don't know how you girls can do it so soon.
@Alivoo01: we start our night routine at 7:30pm. We do a bath and lotion/massage and a short story and then bed. He goes down so well that first time and sleeps approx 3 hours and then is up ever hour after that and each hour is harder and harder to get him back down. As Leonard Cohen would say, we're waiting for the miracle to come... Lol
I also have the same questions as you about eating and tanking him up. After reading some of the responses, maybe we start bedtime too early and that's why he tries to party at 3am!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@redsmarties: Did you get the sweater and hat from Baby Gap? A lot of their clearance stuff was marked way down. I got a Sherpa-lined jacket for $5.99 and their tights were marked down to $1.99!
@Alivoo01: we start our routine at 8 (bath, lotion, pjs, nurse). She is usually asleep in the pack n play by 8:45. M eats very regularly throughout the day (usually every hour or hour and a half). It sucks to have to nurse so often but I do think it helps her sleep longer at night. I usually talk or sing to her when she nurses during the day, but not at night. She still sometimes drifts off to sleep anyways.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@lawbee11: sad- our Gap didn't really have any sales or clearance. I returned some Children's Place clothes, so I used my credit there. Wish I could afford to buy the entire baby Gap line... So cute!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Alivoo01: I'm in the same boat as you. Paige eats really quick and often falls asleep in the middle, so she's getting even less. I've also wondered if i could get her to eat more, if she'd sleep longer. I do my best to tickle her ears/ back of her neck. I used to do a diaper change mid-feed, but I found it woke her up too much, so it took longer to get her to sleep and so it didn't make much of a difference to total sleep,
@.twist.: She had a funny rash on her bum and when I googled it, they talked about rashes from acidic foods. Tomatoes was one of the culprits and was the most likely because I was trying to eat the tomatoes from the garden which meant I was eating 3-4 a day.
