@.twist.: not the only one, no! H loves to poop during/right after I feed her which means that I will, inevidibly be spit up on because the moving around to change her diaper brings up milk if I don't wait at least an hour (NOT happening at 3am!)

@StrawberryBee - really hope this isn't the return of AF for you!!

We tried H in her crib last night. None of us were sleeping well with her in the PnP (I really don't think it can be comfortable!). She did great with a 3 hr stretch at first... After feeding #1, she fell asleep on my boob... I refuse to lay her back down on her back when this happens because she always spits up. So I bounced her and walked her and patted and rubbed her back... All of which helped her settle more. I gave up after 30 minutes and then brought her into bed to sleep on my chest (bad bad habit, I know). Same thing happened 3 hrs later except this time she pooped during her feeding and then spit up all over my shoulder and down my back when I picked her up after changing her diaper. Then she was wide awake and wanted to nurse more! Aghhhh!

We are going to story time at our local library this morning :)!

@Mrs D: K is too stinkin cute!!!! Our bedtime routine is pretty simple as well. Lights down low, halo swaddle me (because he was breaking out of the traditional swaddle), and sound machine. So far so good. We give baths at night a few times a week.

@delight: I'm super jealous of that delightful stretch of sleep! We were up every 2-3 hours last night again.

@MrsB2012: We transitioned DS to his nursery at 8 weeks. I planned on waiting 6 months, but he was just too darn noisy! The first night was hard on me because I really missed having him close, but he wasn't phased a bit!

@Ocean girl: sorry crib transitioning is so tough. Do you try naps during the day in it? We did that first. It took us at least a week for her to be fully transitioned but totally worth it. She sleeps way better. Have fun at the library!

@.twist.: I've honestly never had a poop from her in the middle of the night. She only poops every few days but when she does it's massive. Yesterday it seeped out the top front of her diaper. I saw it spreading through the front of her shirt and was like, what the heck is that? Guess that's what happens when babes are propped sitting up on boppy. Poop can only go up! Sorry you have to deal with all those antics at night.

    @Mrs D: what a little sweetheart!

@StrawberryBee: oh I hope it's not AF! Could it just be residual bleeding from birth? I still am spotting a little. Oh I see @Grace: already said this!

@StbHisMrs: looks like she loves her activity gym! L just started enjoying hers too. It lets me grab a bite to eat or get out of my pjs!

What's everyone doing for BC? I've decided not to back on the pill. I never really liked it and hope to get pregnant again in a year anyways.

@StrawberryBee: Just a quick note...I still have some residual bleeding too...I only notice it every 2-3 days I'd say so very here and there!

@Grace: I find that so stressful. MIL likes to hol the baby too but she's afraid of standing up with her so will only settle herself on the couch and then have someone pass her to her in cradle position (which she hates unless there's a boob coming) and then when she cries still won't move and tries to stroke her face because apparently it worked with her kids but again, this one hates having her face touched.

@skipper2010: I was wanting to keep her in our room until 4-6 months.. but now that she has just started 'talking' a ton, she's so loud. This morning DH and I both woke up to her at 645 talking non stopped. I might try and start her in her crib sooner if she keeps this up.

@delight: I talked to my Dr about BC at B's 1 month appt. I decided not to go back on any. I really hated the pill so stopped it about a year before we started TTC and we just did the pull out. I think we will just do that again as we want to be pregnant again soon. ( Soon being that I'd like to be 3 (ish) months pregnant about before I go back to work next year. I know that's kinda crazy but we want the kids close in age.

@delight: I'm back on a progesterone only pill. So strange. I fully considered just going without and charting since we struggled for almost two years to get pregnant with her and kind of feel like we shouldn't stand in the way of another potential miracle. BUT, I'm so not ready to do this again yet, so we'll just have to hope that we can make it happen again when we're ready.

@StrawberryBee: I get a teeny clot every once in a while - usually if I've been exerting myself. Also, I thought I was spotting once, and it turned out that (TMI) it was actually a hemorrhoid, which I thought I'd escaped, but apparently had them up higher. So... hopefully you're smarter than me and can tell whether it's coming from your bum or vagina... but just a thought.

  9. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@delight: @Mrs D: Thanks! It could be. I guess I should hope that it is; I'm not quite ready for AF's return yet. Tiny bit of spotting today.

I'm doing the mini pill (in fact, just got it in the mail today). I'm pretty sure I'm one and done (two kids from a prior marriage = lots of kids in the car!). I never minded bc. Well, I never minded the second kind they put me on. The first (Yaz) made me a cray cray hormonal mess.

@MrsB2012: I'm sure that's irritating in person, but it's just so cute to think of her babbling away to herself ;D.

@Sapphiresun: Well, I do have 'roids still. It's completely possible XD;;.

Did anyone else cry when they heard about the one year old in the car that was in the crash at the US Capitol? I can't even imagine what that mother was thinking.

So we went to the beach today! I've wanted to go to this beach in NJ for a while now, based on a recommendation from a coworker. We packed up E this morning after her 10am feed and drove the hour and a half there. We didn't do much; thankfully the sun stayed behind the clouds a lot, and I had a hat on LO. We walked the boardwalk a little bit, then went down to the water, where we dipped her feet in the ocean just to say we did ;). Mostly we took pictures like it was our own personal photo shoot lol.

@StrawberryBee: So cute! Man, I'd love it if I lived where it was beach weather in October. It's definitely fall here. I never heard about the car crash...I think if it's going to make me cry, that I won't look it up.

@Sapphiresun: Why does it seem like people forget how to hold babies? It's so strange.

@delight: If we decide for a second baby (this newborn stuff os still too new for me to consider it just yet), then we'll just do NFP until we're ready. It took so long to get pregnant with Paige that I wouldn't want to mess with my system by using hormones,

  12. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Grace: this weather is definitely unusual! The water was too cold for swimming , but air temp has been high 70f/low 80f.

So for the first time last night I put a hemp insert into E's cloth dipe. I've done a mixture of CDs and sposies in the past. I'm not sure if it's coincidence, but we just woke up -- 6 hours and 45 minutes later! Dipe was VERY heavy and full (as are my boobs lol). I think that's the longest we've ever gone through the night. Will definitely be experimenting with this again.

@StrawberryBee: Aww love the beach pictures! Too cute!

@delight: We'll be sticking to pull and pray!

@MrsB2012: Ya I never realized just how noisy babies are! If you do decide to transition to her crib it's honestly not bad. In fact, it's better! (For us anyway)

So DS had a few 5-6 hour initial stretches of sleep last week so I thought we were on the right track to rested bliss, but I was wrong. All week he's been waking up every 2-3 hours once again. This is not going to fly when I go back to work! lol He's lucky he's so stinkin cute!

  14. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

@skipper2010: I feel like we're regressing here too. N was fairly routinely sleeping from 1am-almost 9am (she does go to bed the first time early but usually wakes up and wants to party a bit around 11 and I've kind of let it go since dad works afternoon shift so we're up then anyway, and he likes a chance to put her back to bed). But the last couple nights she's not been going back down until 2 and then waking again at 5, and up for a stretch at 6, and then starting her first nap around 9.

  15. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@StrawberryBee: that's a great stretch! L definitely slept longer when she was out of NB dipes and into a more absorbent one so it's probably the same with cloth inserts. I started having to pump with the long stretch cause she only eats from one side at a time and my other boob was aching! Looks like the beach was fun! So jealous!

@Sapphiresun: @skipper2010: We definitely had some regression yesterday or maybe just a bad day. She was really fussy, cried a lot which she never does, took terrible 10 min naps, and didn't have long sleep stretches over night. Today is going better so hoping it was a fluke. I hear crying peaks weeks 6-8 so maybe that was part of it too.

As for BC, I had a mc before I got pregnant with L, and it was one month after going off the pill. I always kind of blamed the pill so that's one of the reasons I don't want to go back on. I enjoyed charting while TTC so I might start doing that again at some point.

    Finally caught a smile!

@Grace: DS had a fluke 1 night where he slept 6 hours, but now he's waking up every 2 hours again. what the crap..... sigh

@.twist.: DS poops after every feeding. I get a lil worried when he doesn't. And they're loud and pressurized so blowouts even though there's hardly any in the seat of the diaper. Ugh.

So DS's sleep has been horrific the past few nights so when I laid him down, I told him mommy was tired and frustrated with his lack of sleep. You know what he does? He laughs at me followed by a coo. Sigh. my heart melted.

I love that he reacts to me now and smiles/laughs/coos all the time now!!

@Alivoo01: mine poops after almost every feeding as well. She's started skipping maybe 1-2 a day and I'm always surprised when I go to change her as force of habit and there's no poop. So cute. I'm guilty of taking a million angles ad expressions of the same picture too. I don't see how you could resist with that sweet face.

@BabyMats: OMG. You do have a baby sumo! He is so freaking adorable I just want to give him so many cuddles!

Girls, I probably should not even utter the words, or even think the words either, but I went to visit a friend yesterday who lives 2 hours away. He slept for 2 hours from 6 - 8 and I seriously thought our night was f'd for sleep. Well, he slept from 9:45 to 1:30, ate, then slept from 2:00 - 5:00!!!! He then ate again and went back to sleep ON HIS OWN, and then woke up at 6, but only because he had spit up on himself. That's like 6ish hours! Gaaaaaaah!

E is...dare I say it...sleeping in her crib for the first time ever!! So weird having her in a different room. I tried it earlier but she woke up pretty quickly; took her downstairs where she chilled in the swing for a while, then needed a diaper change and feed. She fell asleep in my arms and I snuck her upstairs :D.

Man, I've been such a commenting slacker. I've been reading, but not replying. All of your babies are too cute - can you believe we're in October already?

For those of you who have taken LOs for their shots - how has it gone? We're going on the 17th.

Haven't decided about b/c yet - anyone had supply issues on the progesterone-only pill? My midwife said that was a problem.

K slept from 11:15-5:15, then 5:30-7:45 last night. It was our first night with a bedtime routine...I'm kind of hoping its not just a fluke. But...probably was.

H just slept from 11:15-5:15!!! Thank you little girl! We had friends from university over last night and it got pretty loud in our house... I took H upstairs to our room to lay down with her at 11 and wound up falling asleep myself... DH came to bed around 2 and put her in her crib (in her own room!) and she didn't stir at all. Ahhh sweet sweet sleep!

Hey ladies, how is tummy time going for everyone?

We try to do it a few times a day but he really doesn't like it and either cries or just lays there. I don't know how else I can get his upper body strength ...uh... Stronger. Haha

  28. Sapphiresun

@.twist.: mines a tummy Time drop out as well. I lay her on her mat and she either cries or goes to sleep. No amount of encouraging, tempting with toys just out of sight, will convince her to lift her head most of the time.
I usually lay her down on my chest and she'll sometimes lift her head a bit to look at my face. Every once in a while I can out her Tummy down in the boppy with her head hanging over and she'll sometimes lift up a bit since there's nothing to lay it on but even then sometimes she just lets it dangle.

@StrawberryBee: So impressed you went to the beach - I am SO not that adventurous!!!

    @delight: What a cutie!!!

@Alivoo01: Awww...I cant wait until K smiles this much!

@BabyMats: OH my rolls...I have such a soft spot for chunkers and you're is just too cute for words!!!

K has had a few interesting nights of sleep. She does great the first half but really struggles to go back to sleep after her 5am feed. Then will nap after her 7:30am feed! Ugh! I'd much rather sleep from 5:30-7:30 than 7:30-9:30 when I could be getting ready for the day while she naps!

I did finally have some major success pumping. My girlfriend told me to try pumping on one side while K eats on the other (she said since she is going for 20-25 minutes on one side she is likely getting enough from that one side that I can pump the other). I did that yesterday and got 2oz each time (so I have 4 oz in my fridge - holla!). I plan to do this twice a day and then have DH giver her a 4oz bottle at her 10pm feed which will let me pump likely another 4oz for the freezer. I'll be stoked if I can build my stash 4oz per day...

I left K with DH today while I grocery shopped - I was gone for 1 hour and by the time I got back he was exhausted and stressed...seriously from 1 hour...I got a kick out of it!!!

How are you ladies doing on weight loss? I'm 4 weeks pp and still only down 20lbs...which means I have another 20lbs of baby weight and 10lbs of pre baby weight to lose. Thats 30lbs...UGH! I may start getting on my treadmill next week...

This week I have my sisters baby shower Saturday (which my mom and I have tons of work to do for this week) and K's baptism Sunday! Busy busy!!!

@Mrs D: I hear ya about the husbands. I has to go to the dentist the other morning and timed it for wen she usually sleeps. Apparently she woke crying 20 min before I got home and dh was totally frazzled and complained for the rest of the day how much his arms were hurting when he had to rock her for 20 min. Ummm... I do this for HOURS all day and night. I was like, dude you Clearly need to hit the weights.
As for weight, I had gd during pregnancy so was pretty restricted on diet/exercise so I'd only gained 16 lbs. it was gone at my 2 week appt and I was down an additional 7 at my six week. I gained 40 lbs while we were ttc due to pcos and various attempts to make me fertile so that's what I'll be focussing on. What's not fair though is I'm 7lbs lighter than pre pregnancy but 2 sizes larger!

@Sapphiresun: that's exactly like L. I'm glad he's not the only drop out! I was starting to stress that he wouldn't develop properly or on time or whatever!

@Mrs D: L has the same problem at his 5:00am feeding. I ended up starting to take him to bed with me and he usually falls back to sleep. Obviously I'd like to stop this routine ASAP and just have him sleep in his bed all night, but right now it's the longest stretch of sleep I get and I'm thankful for it.

Re: sleep. I think the weight gods and the sleep gods made a deal. I got my pp body back pretty quick, but I don't think ill ever sleep again.

@Alivoo01: what awesome shots of LO. He is so sweet!

@BabyMats: Eeeek! What a happy little baby. Love the chub, he is so adorable!

@.twist.: yeah sleep! Let's hope it's the start of something awesome!
We only do a few mins of tummy time on her mat a day. Usually about 5 and then she's had enough. But tummy time counts on our stomachs too and DH usually has her tummy to tummy when they are "watching" tv. Also I find when I'm just carrying her around upright she is really lifting her head to look around. Maybe that counts too?

@StrawberryBee: oh I hope crib sleeps continue to go well. It's a pretty big milestone in my opinion!

@redsmarties: let us know if K keeps having good sleeps with a bedtime routine. I'm planning on starting one soon. LO sleeps pretty well already but I find I am putting her down at different times each night and I'd like some consistency.

@Ocean girl: looks like a bunch of us are getting some longer stretches of sleep. Yeah!

@Mrs D: nice job pumping. I started a few weeks ago now and aim for 3 oz in freezer a day. I switched to an electric pump this week so I may get some more since it's much more enjoyable pumping when I have a free hand for my iPad.
I am down 33 lbs at 7 weeks PP and am happy with that so far. I have 7 more lbs of baby weight and another 10 lbs on top I'd like to lose. I gained a little with my mc and got pregnant within a couple months so never had a chance to lose it. I'm hoping by Xmas to be at a comfortable weight.
Sounds like a busy week for you, hope you have fun at the shower at that K's baptism goes well. I love watching the baptisms at church!

@Sapphiresun: great job on weight loss so far. I bet it's frustrating that you aren't at the same size yet, but that will come. I look forward to the day I can put on my old jeans again. I find it annoying that I don't fit into them, but my maternity jeans are so loose now. Sigh.

Last night DH and I went to a wedding and grandma babysat! It was a huge success. Apparently L was a little angel and took 3 bottles just fine! She was awake when I got home at 11 having a bottle so I just finished up with some bF and she fell right asleep. Amazing! Mind you the whole time at the wedding I was worried about her and missed her and by the time I got home my boobs were as hard as rocks. We have another wedding next weekend and I might have to pump in my car!

@babymats: Oh the chubbiness!!! I love love love chunky babies. I was so excited when DS gained weight and gained some rolls, but your LO.... oh my.... chubby-licious!!!! hahaha

@sapphiresun: @.twist.: DS is also a tummy time drop out. LOL At his checkups, the pedi calls him a coach potato. wahh wahh... But he enjoys being held up right or sitting up so I count that as tummy time I guess?? He has okay head control and can sit in the bumbo, but is wobbly.

@Mrs D: it took me about 8 weeks to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans but I've got a lovely muffin top... Boo!

Are you ladies pretty good about taking your prenatal vitamins still?? I constantly forget and will go a week at a time before I remember.

I'm still getting clogged ducts and it sucks major. DS is a lazy eater so he doesn't help remove them. They hurt like crap and really affect my supply until they work themselves out. Heat feels good, but since the lumps are painful, massaging them make me want to cry!

@Mrs D: I can only pump while B is eating as well. Before I would only get like a total of 1 oz on both combined if she wasn't eating. Now I get 5oz per feed if I pump while she's feeding. If I try and pump while she's not feeding I still only get a small amount. It makes a huge difference to pump while she's feeding.
I'm -4 pounds to my pre pregnancy weight. I didn't have problems losing the pregnancy weight for whatever reason. I think I was back to my original weight by about 4 weeks PP. I walk about 5km a day with babe attached so I think that helps. My belly is still giggly, but I fit most my clothes. I'd like to start cross fit again but I just can't find the time or motivation honestly.

@delight: Nice job on getting out to the wedding! That's awesome she took 3 bottles. What kind do you use? B used to take a bottle but now she refuses. I was using tommee tippee. DH tried a dr brown today, but she only took 1oz.

I find it amazing how unpredicable babies are. I keep feeling like Paige becomes a new baby every so often. 30 min sleeps one day, 2.5 hr the next. Cranky as can be one day, super chill the next.

@.twist.: Paige does tummy time on the mat first thing in the morning, while I have breakfast. She loves staring at herself in the mirror. Other than that, she practices head control while she's upright agaist our shoulders.

@Mrs D: Weight loss is going good. I think it helps that I don't have much time to eat!

@delight: I think all those extra times when she holds her head totally counts. It's all practise. It sounds like babysitting was a total success. You may have worried, but I bet it was nice to eat a meal and talk to people in peace!

@Alivoo01: I forget those dang prenatals all the time! It's weird because I was so good about taking them when I was pregnant.

Paige has started to squirm so much in her playpen, that if I put her down in a north-south configuration, she's east-west when I go to get her for a feed. How is she doing that? Especially since she isn't breaking out of her swaddle?

@Ocean girl: we've actually only tried crib sleeping for naps. I'm not yet ready to have her sleep out of our room during the night, and she doesn't really bother us. I mostly wanted to try it to make sure that she wouldn't be funny about sleeping in different rooms and beds when the time comes. And I'm a little afiraid about her developing a flat spot in the back of her head, if the only place that she sleeps are the rock and play and the swing. Congrats on the long stretch of sleep!

@.twist.: she doesn't really like tummy time, but she tolerates it for about five minutes before getting fussy and wanting to be picked up. I try to do it once a day. She's always had pretty good head control, so I'm more worried about the back of her head getting flat.

@Mrs D: truth is I'm a bit bored. I have to admit, I'm kind of looking forward of going back to work? Not that I won't miss her but I'm looking forward to structure my day again.

@delight: awesome on the long stretch of babysitting!

@Alivoo01: no, I'm horrible about taking medications. I've decided to time it so that I take vitamins the same time as my birth control. I had to set a reminder on my phone so I don't forget that! I know how important timing on the mini pill is. I'm embarrassed to admit that I do the same thing with E's vitamin D drops. Sucks on the clogged ducts!

As far as weight, I've lost about 15 to 20 pounds depending on the day, but I'm still way up from where I should be :(.

After giving us a very fussy night last night, E finally went to sleep around 1230 in the morning. And gave us a whole eight hours! Then I pumped one side while feeding her on the other and got 4 1/2 ounces out. Feeling somewhat accomplished.
