And I'm back. Grrr. Paige has been giving me 2-3 hr stretches for all of October. I don't like these 60-90 min stetches!!
@StrawberryBee: Lol on your empty boxes. It reminds me of moving in with DH. He was a box horder too!
@.twist.: 3 months! That's the end of the 4th trimester! Does it feel wonderful? I may have a countdown going on my calendar...
@delight: Generally I've found that if we can get a nap in after 6 that she's much easier to get to sleep around 8-8:30. If she's overtired she fights it.
@MrsB2012: Happy belated Thanksgiving back!
@Sapphiresun: Wow, that is a lot. Maybe that's why "they" say it's possible to overfeed with a bottle? I'm sure she doesn't eat that much. She'd be a giant baby
!@Mrs D: Gorgeous gown!
@JamieLee: Mine does those stupic little catnaps during the day too. Super frustrating, especially since I can tell she's tired! Way to go on the public breastfeeding! I went to a group for the first time on Friday. It was awesome to just commiserate with/get encouragement from the other moms!
@Alivoo01: I'm sorry you had to go to work. It must be so hard. How did he do? P is swaddled. We'll keep her in it until she rolls.

@.twist.: totally had to look up 3 month milestones to compare because I didn’t even think about his adjusted age!! It seems like he’s on schedule. I do know when we go to the pediatrician, the pedi will ask is C doing this or that and I’m like yes to this, but no to that. For the no’s, he reaches that milestone a week later so I’m not sure where that puts us… How’s L doing?
I’m not looking forward to swaddle weaning because I hear it’s a sleeping nightmare and C is finally getting some decent stretches of sleep (woohoo 4 hours!! Still jelly of those mommas whose babies are sleeping 6+ hours a night!!)
@Grace: LOL!! I’m the same way. I sign on and think, “where the heck did I leave off at?!” It gets difficult to track and respond after a while so I just pick a random spot and pick up from there until I lose track again.
First day of work went by smoothly. The caregiver was sweet and texts me updates and pictures when I inquire. I missed him terribly though and was fighting back tears on the drive home. I just couldn’t wait to get home to him!!
DS also catnaps sometimes and it’s frustrating. Like you said, I can tell he’s still tired. It’s just so weird because he’s sleeping just fine then eyes pop wide open 30-60 minutes later. What the heck?!

I am brutal at keeping up with you ladies! It's tough to commen from my phone! So, let's see what I can remember.
Naps: K sleeps on me for the majority of her naps still. I know that I need to start putting her down in her crib, but I'm not sure how to start that. Should I just put her down once she's asleep, not swaddled? Or maybe I need to be more intentional about putting her down for a nap at a certain time,
Weight Loss: I only gained about 20lbs while pregnant, so I am back down to pre-pregnancy weight. But I still had a bunch of weight to lose before that, so I'm still working on it.
Sleep: we start bedtime routine around 10 and she falls asleep by about 11 each night. She sleeps between 4.5-6 hours to start, then another 2 hour stretch or so. I'm hoping that we get some longer stretches now...but even 6 hours is incredible.
K is two months old tomorrow, and going for her shots and check up on Thursday. I'm nervous, but it will be good. Also going to talk about birth control options- but we might just stick with condoms. I'm pretty terrified to DTD- I posted about what happened when we tried in a gold post.

@redsmarties: For me, I swaddle, rock him for a bit with his pacifier in. He'll spit his paci out when he's drifting off and I put him in his crib drowsy. He'll squirm a bit, make a few noises then fall asleep.
You're so brave!! We tried DTD when I was 8 weeks PP visiting my parents and it was so uncomfortable that we didn't get far. I think having lube would have helped, but we didn't have it on hand. I've been ready to try again but when it's DTD vs sleeping, sleeping always wins. Poor hubby!!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Alivoo01: I wish she would take a pacifier- it would make things easier! But I will try putting her down drowsy- might be good. And as far as DTD- not brave, just feeling guilty. But we didn't get far at all. Poor hubby.

@Alivoo01: I think he's doing ok. I think he's developing more at a 2 month level than 3 months. He seems more in line with the august babes and the July babes seem to be a bit ahead of him.
@Grace: ahaha! A countdown! It does feel prettying old to bemoaning on to some more interactive milestones with L! Hopefully his sleep improves too! Lol
@Alivoo01: @redsmarties: at least you girls tried! I'm still to scared to try. Poor DH is right!

@Alivoo01: We still swaddle but she breaks out pretty quickly, I just ordered a couple sleep sacks since she breaks out of the swaddleme blankets too!
@Lawbee11: Charlie has found her hands too and tries to shove them as far into her mouth as possible! She also still naps in her chair, every once in a whle I can get her to nap in the pnp.
@JamieLee: Woohoo on the public nursing, it gets easier! I have had to do it so much it’s almost second nature to me now. I haven’t flashed anyone yet
I have a cat napper too, it stinks…

@.twist.: I haven't checked on the July boards to see how their LO is developing. I should skim through there, but I agree DS is closely aligned with the August babies (e.g. he just recently found his hand, maybe last week?).

@lawbee11: I know what you mean about doing a lot of baby laundry! I do roughly every other day (same with dipes). Nice that we have similar stats :D.
I love our Foscam too. The audio has been doing some odd things though. It's back, so I guess no biggie? Hope it doesn't continue to be a problem :/.
E likes nothing better than to shove her hands into her mouth. om nom nom!
@Alivoo01: no, we gave up on the swaddle weeks ago. It's probably why her PNP/crib sleep is so crappy.
@.twist.: @lawbee11: yeah, I'm worried about all the napping in the swing and what that will do for crib napping down the road.
@Grace: the ergo! and the empty boxes are GONE. woohoo!! I feel so much better with the house kinda maybe back together. Or at least, not so much stuff out where I can see it. I get bitchy and seriously unhappy when there's clutter.
@redsmarties: I was looking forward to DTD and did manage to do it successfully (okay, it was uncomfortable, but I'd be willing to do it again). It's the aftermath I'm unsure of :/. I hope it's unrelated.

Is anyone else here cloth diapering? We're all in now and I LOVE it! We have a mix of bumgenius freestyles and 4.0s, snaps and hook and loop. I have to say that I like all of them for different reasons. And she's so cute with her fluffy butt :3.
Also had two exciting internet purchases that I can't wait to arrive. The first is a nursing infinity scarf I got on babysteals:
http://www.amazon.com/InfinityMOM-Nursing-Scarf-Grey-Chevron/dp/B00BJ863JY in organic cream (I wanted the striped light grey, but it wasn't available when I ordered)
infinity scarf + nursing cover? win!
The second purchase is a Christmas stocking for E from http://www.uglysofa.com/ . I was able to get a Pottery Barn stocking embroidered with her name for $15 and free shipping!
(FYI they also have anywhere chair slipcovers with their own brand of foam under-chair)

@redsmarties: I posted about BCP on the 6+ graduates thread on WB. So weird to even be thinking about PREVENTING after all this, eh? I went on the mini-pill but am kind of lazy about taking it because 1) I figure I'm not going to get pregnant without extreme measures again, and 2) we don't really do anything that would cause a pregnancy anyway... haha...
@Alivoo01: We were fairly successful the one time we did it since DD was born - I think 7.5 weeks pp, but now I'm either afraid she'll wake up which is too distracting to be listening for stirring to be really enjoyable or so exhausted that DTD is kind of just another chore. I feel bad for DH too, but that's just the way it is for now.
@.twist.: @Alivoo01: I'm always impressed with your guy's developments! I have one of the early August babies (Aug 3 - 10 days early, but she doesn't get an adjusted age for that) and you guys always seem to be a week or two ahead of what's coming down the pipe here. She just found her hands last week too, and it's been like a Pink Floyd concert around here ever since.
Speaking of finding appendages, has anybody else's baby seem to have found their tongue? Just in the last couple days, N is obsessed with sticking her tongue out. I knew I shouldn't have let her watch the MTV music award highlights.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Sapphiresun: ahaha- darn MTV. K has totally found her tongue- not only does she stick it out/lick things, she totally sucks on it too. These great big slurping sounds as she's falling asleep. Guess she doesn't need a pacifier?? And yes, the whole prospect of BCP seems foreign to me after infertility. But, since K was kind of a fluke (no real changes that month), I don't want to risk it happening again. Not that there's really any risk right now

@redsmarties: I do half swing naps half on-me naps. She's so tired that I do whatever it takes. I'll come back to you for pointers once we have to take the plunge!
@Sapphiresun: lol on the pink floyd concert.
@StrawberryBee: love that scarf! I have a Jolly Jumper pashmina one. It's not as pretty as yours, but same idea.

@Sapphiresun: yes! In fact, just tonight we were sticking our tongues out at each other.
@Grace: pashmina sounds pretty
And I'm now off the mini pill. My supply appears to have tanked and that's the main thing that changed. I hope it comes back.

@Grace: yeah , I don't think another is in the cards; that would make four children (though his two from a prior marriage are getting older, and don't live with us). We'd definitely have to get a different house, and a minivan ;). Two adults, four kids, three dogs, and two cats in 1300 sq ft!

@strawberrybee: What’s going on with your audio? I have a Foscam also and the static annoyed the crap out of me so I bought a mini microphone to put in the audio in port and no more static! Yay!!
Was your LO rolling over and that’s why you gave up on the swaddle?
And that’s quite the household you have there – full and busy!
@Sapphiresun: LMAO at your MTV comment. DS found his tongue last week and he grazes his gums with it all the time and will stick it out also.

DS has been holding spit/drool/milk in his mouth lately that it's causing him to "choke" with an occasional slight spit up (he coughs for a few seconds and all is well). Anyone else's LO do this or know why they do this or what I can do so that he doesn't do it?
kiwi / 597 posts
@Alivoo01: We switched from swaddle blanket to the halo sleep sack swaddles a while ago and I'm really happy with it. It still gives him that tightness around his chest, but without having to worry about him undoing the swaddle and getting wrapped up in it. I'm not sure what you can do about your LO holding drool/milk in his mouth, so hopefully someone else can chime in.
@redsmarties: I'm also at a loss on how to get DS to nap in his crib. He has no problem with nighttime sleep in his crib, but the only way I can get him to nap during the day is by going for a walk, bouncing him in his bouncer, or in the swing. He needs motion in order to nap. Hopefully once he's a little older we can establish better nap habits. lol But for now I'll do whatever it takes because he gets SOOOO cranky if he's awake for longer than 2 hours at time.

@Alivoo01: the audio mysteriously stopped working (it was VERY faint; if I yelled into it you could almost hear it). Debated getting a microphone, but then it came back on. I may still though, seeing that you were successful :).

Ladies, I'm really stressing. Kaia has been in our room, in a bassinet since she came home. We wanted to keep her there until at least 3 months, possibly 4. She is 2 months next week. I got up this morning and checked on her only to find her face first in the solid plastic side of the bassinet. She was hungry and looking for a nipple. She sleeps swaddled and managed to get herself pressed against the side. Now I am freaked that she could suffocate herself in the middle of the might. So, though it's well before when we wanted to, we have to move her to her crib tonight.
She had been taking naps in there but doesn't sleep for much more than a half hour in her crib. She sleeps for hours in they bassinet but I have been trying to slowly wean her off. So much for slowly....
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Aw!!! DS moved out of his bassinet about that time too because he's a mover. Even in his crib, he'll move over at least 6 inches and be diagonal from where I put him down at by the time I check on him a couple hours later even though he's swaddled!!
Good luck on the transition to the crib!

@Mrs Hedgehog: We transitioned DS to his crib a lot sooner than we planned on, but for different reasons. The transition went very smoothly! It was much harder on us than it was on him. Good luck, it will be fine!

@Alivoo01: So glad your first day of work went smoothly...makes me hopeful for the rest of us who have that transition coming. Since I know we are in similar fields of work what do you plan to do during your busy season? A couple weeks in January we are generally expected to work 60-70 hours. I was loosely planning on dropping K at Day Care at 6:30am those days and picking her up at 3. I thought I could then take her home, feed her and get an hour or so with her then head back to work for a few hours after DH gets home at 5. This way I can supervise staff into the evening hours but still get some time with her.
@redsmarties: I am also terrified about DTD...I need to go find your gold post and check it out...
@Sapphiresun: K definitely loves her tongue...she sticks it out at me all the time!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Good luck with the transition...we're starting naps in the big crib this weekend.
I went into the Dr's today to weigh K since the Dr was less than impressed with her weight gain at her 2.5 week appt. She is 6 weeks tomorrow and weighs 9lbs 13oz...I am so excited. Thats a 2lb 5oz weight gain in 3 weeks. She may break 11lbs by her 2 month appointment in 3 weeks! Love it!
I am trying to feed her and pump religiously today and tomorrow as I need to build up stock for this weekend. Its DH's birthday on Saturday so we are going to a nice Dinner Friday. Sunday I am hoping to convince DH to go to the apple orchard (I need a pumpkin to carve out and put K in for some pictures) and maybe some house hunting. Both of those events require a bottle or two so I am all over it.
Anyone have any must have recommendations for PBK? I just ordered K's anywhere chair (her Christmas Gift) and then got a $50 gift card in the mail today from a family friend. Just wondering if you all have any fav's from there I should look in to?
Also - what are you guys doing for Christmas this year? DH and I were just planning on "giving" K the anywhere chair and maybe some small toys (since we literally have none). I sent a small list to our parents (walker, Alex My World cube, fisher price learn and grow table and 6 mos clothes) - just wondering what others are planning.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs D:Previously, if I have to work past 6pm, I pack up what I need and work from home. I plan on continuing this. If I need to be in the office past 6pm, then DH will watch DS (hopefully, I won't have too many, if any, of these days!). As of right now, I have adjusted my work schedule so that I'm at the office by 7am and leave between 3:30 and 4. I drop DS off at day care at 6:30am.
As for Christmas, I want to get C the anywhere chair also. Haven't thought of any other gifts as we have very little storage space and am already struggling to find a home for some items we've received for him!

@StrawberryBee: I love that nursing scarf!! I wish I had seen it on Baby Steals.
@Sapphiresun: M sticks her tongue out all.the.time!! I stick mine out at her and she smiles so big!
@Mrs Hedgehog: oh no! I would've been freaked out, too. Sounds like it's the right time to move her to the crib even though it's a quicker transition than you would've liked.
@Mrs D: we have this Sherpa stroller blanket in pink and we had M's name monogrammed on it. It is SO soft--I love it. It's going to be great when we go on walks when it's colder outside.

For Christmas we'll probably get M some new clothes (I'll take any excuse to buy her stuff from baby gap), some bibs for when we start solids, and maybe some other stuff for starting solids. I think my parents are going to get her an anywhere chair and I think my ILs are getting her a walker. I don't want to overdo it since she'll have no idea what's going on anyways.
M just took a nap in the PNP! It only lasted about 45 min, but better than nothing

Ugh! K ate at 4:30 and started some frantic crying in the middle of it...I finally took her off the boob after 30 minutes and it seemed my boobs were empty. Then at 6:45 when she started to feed again we had a 40 minute feed and she was pulling the same stunt...
I thawed 3oz of milk and gave it to her so she'd calm down which she did but WTF? I only have 4oz in the freezer right now...I hope it was a fluke and not that my supply is off...
Good thing I found the box of Similac freebie I got while pregnant just in case!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Alivoo01: oops, missed your other question! We stopped doing the swaddle because she was sleeping in the RnP/swing and didn't seem to want or need it. Often she'd fall asleep in my arms while nursing and it wasn't worth waking her up just to put her in the swaddle. Maybe I should start back up again to get her sleeping in the crib.
The problem is that the crib is just so far away from where she falls asleep! This evening she fell asleep nursing with me in the living room, and by the time I got up off the sofa, pulled the pillow out from under her, opened the baby/dog gate, went up the stairs, opened her door...yeah, she was wide awake.
Same thing happens if we're nursing in our bedroom (where the glider is). I have to get up out of the glider and go through three doors (our bathroom is a pass through) to put her in the crib. I can't have DH move the glider into the nursery until we're sure she's sleeping there 100% of the time; it's just too big and heavy to move randomly about.
@Mrs D: congrats on the weight gain!! I don't have any big plans for Christmas; after all, she won't remember it. And I've bought a lot of stuff lately. So, maybe I'll consider things like her personalized PBK stocking and personalized etsy ornament part of her holiday gifts :).
@lawbee11: Congrats on the PNP nap!

Thanks everyone for sharing your bedtime routines. This week has been good for us. I let her have a short nap on me while we watch tv around 7. Then around 8:30 I bring her up for pjs, a book and nurse her to sleep. A few nights she woke up 30 mins later but generally is down for the night around 9/930. Last night she slept 10 hours straight. I wonder if I should wake her to feed but I guess she'd wake up if she's hungry.
@Alivoo01: so sorry you're back to work. That must be hard. I'm glad you have a good caregiver that sends you updates!
We swaddle. I don't think she'd sleep so great if we didn't. I know we are supposed to wean when they can roll. What if the first roll is in the middle of the night and she can't flip back? Am I just being paranoid?
@redsmarties: good for you for DTD. I read your gold post. Hopefully you figured out what was going on. I'm still a little scared to try, but would really like to soon. Happy two months to K! l goes for her shots tomorrow. I hope your appointment went well!
As for naps: when I'm home I follow the same routine during the day for naps. She is usually only awake for about an hour and then starts getting fussy. So then I bring her in her room with lights off and noise machine on. Change her diaper, swaddle her and then nurse her while rocking and singing. This takes about 15 mins total and when I'm sure she's asleep I put her in her crib. She usually has 3 naps that are about an hour and then a longer one at some point that is 2-3 hours. I do let her sleep on me while a arching tv for an evening nap. If I'm out I don't care how or where she naps. Yesterday she had a nap at the movies and also in her bassinet during a walk.
@Alivoo01: I need to start putting her down drowsy I think. There are times though that her eyes pop open when I put her in the crib and I sneak out anyways. She can usually still fall asleep.
Just saw your comment about holding milk. My LO spits up all the time and has a big vomit now and again but I've never seen her hold milk in her mouth. I'd probably ask the doctor about that.
@StrawberryBee: that nursing scarf is super cool! I just use regular covers but am not too shy to nurse in public. When I went up to the cottage I was at a little diner with some somewhat sketchy people in there. One man came up and looked in my empty stroller and asked where my baby was. I pointed at my nursing cover where she was underneath nursing. He came over and pulled it away so he could see down to the baby. WTF? He was s embarrassed, I don't think he realized my boob was going to be right there. He apologized profusely and now I think it's super funny.
@Sapphiresun: DH was just mentioning yesterday how she is always sticking out her tongue now. She has also found her hands and loves to suck. I also find if I put my face close and say "ooooooooh" she tries to copy me. But I'm a speech pathologist and just like pretend my baby can already talk. (@redsmarties: I know you do the same
@Mrs Hedgehog: I hope the night time crib transition is going well. I did it slowly over a week but sounds like you need to do it right away. How did it go last night? I hope she surprised you and slept well. Do you have a noise machine? I find white noise helps a lot.
@Mrs D: that's some great weight gain! I think L will be 11 lbs when I am at doc tomorrow. All the babes are getting so big! Sounds like a busy weekend, have fun!
For Christmas we are just giving her one of those big wooden block toys with things to do on each side. Costco has one now so I picked it up this week. We aren't doing anything else this year but I know our family will get her gifts.
@StrawberryBee: can you start nursing her in her room near the crib? That's what I do for naps now. I used to just let her sleep on the living room couch but now I nurse in her room when I know she's about to nap.
@lawbee11: yeah for a PNP nap!! That's a sweet stroller blanket!

@delight: oh my goodness, some people have no boundaries! At least he was properly embarrassed XD.
I just moved my DSD's computer chair into E's room. There's currently no place to sit except on the floor, and I know I'm not coordinated enough to get up from the floor with her asleep in my arms without falling over lol. I'll try it next time we nurse.
Currently she's in her crib cooing to herself. I was going to try to nurse her to sleep, but my phone rang downstairs and I thought it was my husband, so I plopped her in the crib for a moment since she was drowsy and now I'm afraid to go back in there. She's definitely not going to fall asleep though, she's having all sorts of conversations with herself.

I had a big mommy fail today! Had a super productive morning (dinner going in the crock pot, changed the litter box, vacuumed and mopped the floors, did a load of laundry, etc etc). And I decide, hey, I'm going to go to Target! E wakes up from her nap, we nurse, she's super happy. I put her in the car seat and off to Target we go.
All is well until we are in the parking lot and I'm attempting to put her in the ergo, and crying erupts. It's at this point I discover: I left all her pacifiers at home.
BACK in the car seat, drive back home, avoid the accident that has popped up since we were on the road ten minutes ago, grab some pacis, and back to Target we go.
Because I'm stubborn. Or stupid, I can't figure out which :P.
(and yeah, I could have bought more pacis at Target, but she was screaming at this point and I didn't relish the thought of walking through the store like that. Plus really wanting to wash them first. They need drive through pacifier dispensers.)
nectarine / 2530 posts
well, that didn't go well. Of course she fussed to the point where I had to go up there. Sitting on the computer chair, nursing her, she almost nods off...then she pops the pacifier out and immediately goes wide awake. My arms couldn't take holding her any more after about fifteen minutes (no arms on the chair), so now we're back in the swing.
Oh, and I can't leave the doors open because we have cats and my husband is very allergic. We keep them out of the bedrooms so that he doesn't have constant hives.

@Alivoo01: glad work went well. I'm also not looking forward to swaddle weaning. Although I don't always swaddle him for naps and he does occasionally have a long nap without a swaddle.
@redsmarties: we DTD a few days ago. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. I had a c section though so it's a little different. I was super worried though because I had that uterine infection so I am a Little wary of things that could mess things up down there...if you know what I mean...
My LO won't take a paci either. I think he's rather use momma as a paci. I picked up a couple different brands today to try. So far we've tried Soothies, Nuk, Avent, and Tommee Tippee. I also bought a Wubbanub. The best luck came with the Tommee Tippee. I bought Mam to try and our target has two more brands left if these don't do the trick.
@StrawberryBee: we cloth diaper too. We used disposables for the first few weeks and then at night for a while and I still usually do disposables if I'm taking him out. But at home it's cloth all the way. I also love it! I have a very eclectic mix of diapers but my favorites are GroVia and Softbums.
I love that nursing scarf! And I'm trying to pick out some stockings to order for all of us from Etsy.
I have the mini pill but I haven't taken it yet. I'm afraid to because I have enough supply problems without adding that to the mix. For now, we're sticking to condoms...for that one time...lol.
@Sapphiresun: S has definitely found his tongue. He's always sticking it out or rubbing it on his gums. It's too funny!
@skipper2010: we just tried the halo swaddle last night. I really like it! Although when I woke up this morning, he had managed to slip one arm out...lol. He's a sneaky little guy.
S also only seems to like to nap if he's moving. Or I have to rock him till he's out like a light and then put him down, but he doesn't stay asleep for long.
@Mrs Hedgehog: hope it went alright with the quick transition...I'm thinking I want to transition S out of the rock and play into the pack and play soon but I'm scared his good night sleep will suffer.
@Mrs D: for Christmas, I have no idea yet. We still need a high chair and an exersaucer so I'm planning to suggest those to my dad and ILs as gifts for him. I would like to get him a PBK anywhere chair but the pattern I want isn't available anymore...
We will probably get him one bigger gift and then some small stocking stuffer toys and some clothes and books. I kind of like the four gift idea: something I want, something I need, something to wear, and something to read. Obviously he doesn't have any "wants" but that would be any age appropriate toy. I have Amazon and Target wish lists going for things I would like to get him so as I see things I add them. Those will come in handy for the holidays. Plus it's fun to put the lists together.
I hope you figured out what was going on with your boobs. I have supply issues and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. It's so frustrating.
@delight: 10 hours! That's amazing! Sounds like she naps well too. S apparently thinks naps are for chumps these days. And I hadn't thought of the rolling in the middle of the night...and now I'm worried about it!
Cannot believe that someone would look under a nursing cover like that! I guess you have to laugh about it.
As for us, S had a terrible day yesterday. I dot know exactly what the problem was, but he was unbelievably fussy all afternoon and refused to nap. I spent the entire day trying to troubleshoot his crying. I even got all geared up to take him for a walk in the Ergo and it was raining. Nothing soothed him except nursing. So we spent a lot of time in the nursing chair. Then DH finally got home and S finally conked out in the swing...figures. So I got to take a nice long hot bath. He slept the whole time. DH leads a charmed life. We went to Target today and I put him in the Ergo. So much better than leaving him in the car seat. He was good for a decently long shopping trip. I think he just hates the car seat. I need to try the regular seat in the stroller to see if he likes that any better. Has anyone else used the regular seat on the stroller yet? I also got the stuff to make his Halloween costume. He's going to be a garden gnome like this:

@JamieLee: same on our CD journey! We did just buy a box of size 2's just in case (DH feels better if there are some disposables in the house, and sometimes it's just easier when we're going out to grab them. Lord knows that they take up less room). I have some Alvas that my SIL gave us that I finally got around to washing.
Oh, and I just preordered the Carroll and Jules patterns from BG. LOVE Jules!
What kind of Grovias do you have? I'm really tempted by the new paper airplane pattern (Drift).
And oh my goodness, that garden gnome...Too Cute!!
Edit: I finally learned today what a Zany Zoo is:

That whole section of Target sucked me in. This was also super tempting:

So I guess maybe something like that for Christmas?

@StrawberryBee: I love that Jules pattern. I haven't tried BG but I'm tempted. We have the GroVia hybrid system with the snap in inserts. I love it, but my absolute favorite is Softbums. I only have one but it's a lime chevron. Rumparooz and Planetwise both came out with chevron patterns too. Need more diapers! It's like an addiction! The only diapers I really haven't liked we're the GroVia newborns and G diapers. Both leaked every time.

@JamieLee: do you use the stay dry or the organic? Have you ever used the biosoakers? Do you really not wash the covers every time you do a change?
We like our bgs, but I'm always open to more :).
DH got her to sleep in the crib for about 30 minutes. Then he accidentally started moving the camera around while fiddling with the app and we got this lol.

@StrawberryBee: I use the organic but I have some stay dry to try out. I like that although the stay dry I stopped with microfleece, it's still cotton/hemp that absorbs. I don't care for microfiber and I've heard it wears out over time. I have some biosoakers but I kind of forgot about them until a week ago. I used them last time I went to a breastfeeding support group meeting and I liked them. Less bulk in the diaper bag and they're plastic, fragrance, chlorine, and dye free and made with wood pulp so they're biodegradable. I do reuse the covers. The inserts are backed with waterproof fabric so pee never touches the cover. If he poops though, it's. Whole different story. The cover keeps it in but it never stays on just the insert. We're down to once or twice a day poos so it's not too much of a problem. I usually just leave the non-poo cover out on the changing table to air out between changes. Works like a charm. I usually get three or four changes out of the cover before washing.
Do you find the BG pockets to be trim? I have three fuzzibunz pockets and they are soooo bulky compared to my GroVias and Softbums.

@strawberrybee: That’s cute she’s cooing to herself; and what a Target trip. Haha!
Bummer on her waking up once her paci fell out. It’ll happen one day!!!
And OMG!! What an awesome and adorable accidental picture!!!
@JamieLee: That’s awesome he can nap without a swaddle! DS – forget it!! He needs it. Plus, it’s an indicator he needs to go to sleep. If he’s swaddled and I rock him, he’ll start getting drowsy pretty quickly. If he’s not swaddled, I’d have to rock much longer; and when I put him down, he’s wide awake.
DS doesn’t mind the car seat, but if he sits in it too long, he gets fussy. I’ve put him in the ergo when we’re out and about and he seems to enjoy it. He always falls asleep in it! I need to find shirts that go up higher on my chest because DS’s face starts to stick to my chest after a while since he’s sweats a lot naturally. Then again, all my nursing friendly tops (tank tops for instance) are lower cut so double whammy!
As for your stroller question, not yet. DS is still small in my opinion. I put him the high chair while the hubby and I eat dinner, and the seat belts are still way too big on him. At least the crotch fastener keeps him from falling down. I just removed the infant insert in his car seat this morning.
That gnome costume is so darn cute!!!
I know this is nothing compared to you momma’s whose LOs sleep 8+ hours, but DS slept for 6 hours last night!!!! This is HUGE!!! Hope I didn’t just jinx myself! And this is how I found DS this morning. I put him down last night vertical close the railing to the left because this happened yesterday too and his head was mashed up against the railings on the right! It baffles me how he moves this much swaddled!
