@redsmarties: Sometimes a Starbucks and a new outfit is all you need :). I've been allowing myself to finally really get a new wardrobe. I've been wearing some tops for so long that I'm really sick of them. And I doubt I could fit into most of my work pants now. Sigh.

I keep on telling myself I should keep spare dipes and wipes in the car. I don't think we'll run out of dipes because I've gone crazy and stashed them everywhere, but I could easily see myself running out of wipes. Suckers are heavy!

@Alivoo01: ha, we have no bed time to speak of :). I'm still fully on her schedule, though I can't complain about it...now. When I get back to work it'll be a different story. Typically she takes a long 'nap' in the evening, and we all go upstairs around midnight, where she feeds several more times before finally falling asleep for the long haul around 1:30 or 2 am. Then she'll wake up anywhere from 5am to 7am, we nurse and go back to sleep, repeat three times.

We have no bed time routine. She wears what she has until she spits up on them. Since that's pretty much every feed, it really depends on how often I catch the spitup before it soaks her neck. She gets baths when she needs them and we read during the day. She usually has no trouble falling asleep at night. In fact, I tried to give her a bath at bedtime last night and while she enjoyed the actual bath, she got all riled up in the act of getting dressed for bedtime, so I think what works for most would actually work against us.

@.twist.: E just started with some green poop last week. I should really track what I eat in relation to when those appear. Unless it's just the asparagus ;).

If you don't mind me asking, what finally worked for you with the thrush, if you gave up on the meds?

@lawbee11: ahh, the sherpa lined jacket sounds so cute! I'm stalking this for when it goes on sale:

@StrawberryBee: I hope it helps you. I was so tired of the meds and they weren't working. I have no idea if what I did was what helped clear it up, but i feel a lot better now!

Love all the baby smiles! We need to share more cutie pie pictures!

@delight: love that sleeper. Mind telling me what brand it is?

@Grace: we don't really have a bed time routine. He's a major cluster feeder in the evening and he usually falls asleep while nursing around 9, 10, or 11. If he's really in a crazy mood, we give him a small bottle and then put him to bed after. I usually put him in the swaddle me before the late nursing session and I think that helps him fall asleep. We don't do bath everyday or anything...

@StrawberryBee: I have run out of wipes twice now! And I love that outfit. Might have to add that to my Target wish list.

So has anyone gotten LO's halloween costume? I'm having trouble finding things less than 6 month size. Since DS is just outgrowing his newborn sleepers, I'm sure 6 months will be WAY too big in a month...

@Alivoo01: I have a hard time figuring out bed time. If she goes down around 9/10 she usually sleeps 5 or 6 hours because I nurse and swaddle and put her down in crib. However we usually hang out and watch tv in basement and she often falls asleep in my arms at 8, which messes everything up. I have to go up and transfer her and she doesn't give me a long stretch.i guess I'm still going by her schedule but would like to start a schedule soon.

@JamieLee: thanks! It's old navy and I just got it. I don't know if Canada has different items and I'm in Canada.

    @StrawberryBee: Cute!!

@JamieLee: Carter's has costumes in 3-6 months, but I think that's the smallest they go. Old Navy has Batman & Spiderman onesies in smaller sizes, and they look like costumes. ON also has a skeleton onesie in smaller sizes.

@delight: I gave 0.75ml of tylenol before her shots. I wasn't sure on her weight so didn't want to give too much. She did great with her shots so I'll do the same next time. I gave it about 45? mins before her appt. I gave it about 5 hours after as well.

    nectarine / 2466 posts

@JamieLee: I"ve been trying to decide if it's worth it to get a costume. The smallest I've seen also is 6 months which would be massive on her

To any Canadian Bee's I'm not sure if it's just our Target or if it's all, but all sizes and styles of Pampers diapers are on clearance. We use the pampers swaddlers which are a little more expensive then the other styles. I got the box of 234 for $35 which is pretty good, so just a heads up.

I'm so jealous of you all that have an early bedtime routine. This week B hasn't gone down until midnight, I'm trying to get it earlier, last night was 1130 so that's a start. However, she slept for 9 solid hours the night before last. It was glorious! She still cluster feeds every hour from 8-11/12 so that's kind of annoying though. She was taking a bottle for DH but now she won't, I want to start trying to get her to take a bottle once a day so that we can start to think about leaving her with a sitter so we can go out together once in a while.

How often are you still bathing? Im still doing every 3 days, but was thinking of starting it more often in the evening instead of the morning.

@MrsB2012: Good deal! Man I wish our Target wasn't on the far side of the city. As for bathing, I shoot for every 3 days, but it's more like when I notice that she's gettin' kinda dirty.

@JamieLee: No costume yet but if we find a cute one, I'll buy it for greeting the trick-o-treaters. You know, if it doesn't cost a fortune.@delight:

How many weeks were your LOs when they gave you their first 5+ hour sleep?

@.twist.: So glad you're feeling better.

@JamieLee: I bought the 0-6 month lamb outfit from PBK:

    http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/baby-lamb-costume/

It's too big for her, but she has another month to grow and I feel I could alter it if needed.

You can get onesie outfits from Disney Store and Target. Both are heavily geared towards the Disney Princesses, though ;).

    http://www.disneystore.com/clothes/bodysuits/disney-baby/mn/1000388+1014201/

Target's harder to find online, but it's in the baby section in the store. Mostly princesses from what I can recall.

    Edit, found this: http://www.target.com/c/infant-toddler-costumes-halloween/-/N-5tf5a#navigation=true&viewType=medium&sortBy=bestselling&minPrice=from&maxPrice=to&isleaf=true&navigationPath=5tf5a&parentCategoryId=9975408&facetedValue=/-/N-5tf5aZ5uzff&RatingFacet=0&categoryId=5029

@MrsB2012: DH and I estimate E is at least 11 lbs by now. I just set her up myself in the backyard and snapped some pics. You could try it yourself and see how it goes? Love the smiles!

@JamieLee: I got the Carter's strawberry costume size 3-6m. It'll be big but we can probably fiddle around with it to make it fit!

@MrsB2012: I picked up the pampers on clearance too! It must be all targets. I picked up many boxes from loblaws right after LO was born. I found them for 8 cents a dipe. I majorly stocked up then.

@Grace: She was exactly one month with her first 6 hour stretch. She did 5 hours around 3-4w. It's not consistent though but generally I get at least a 4 hour stretch and a couple 3s each night.

@StrawberryBee: my LO is super fussy today too. I think it must be 6 week growth spurt.

@.twist.: great to see a pic of L! So sweet! Do you use the medela steam bags? It looks like one in the picture. I love them!
Oh and my DH wishes he had your DH's arms!!

As for bathing, I bathe her pretty randomly but about twice a week. I wipe her down with just a washcloth more often.

@Alivoo01: since her first week home we have had a bed time routine. I think it helps. At 8 we go upstairs, change her diaper, put her in her nightgown (makes for easier middle of the night changes), swaddle her and nurse her to sleep. It works for now.

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Mrs Hedgehog: Do you feel you miss out on sleep though because she goes to bed so early? Or do you go to bed at 8?
I try to put LO in her crib as late as possible so I can go to bed at the same time. It doesn't always work that way though.

  21. Mrs Hedgehog

    pear / 1812 posts

@delight: we go to bed at 8 since I know she will new waking us up a few times and it usually takes anywhere from am hour to an hour and a half to change her, feed her, and get her back to sleep. And this is coming from a night owl who, before baby would stay up all night. I also don't nap during the day so I need the extra night sleep.

She usually doesn't wake for the day until around 9 or 10. Which means we only do two naps. (Well, scheduled naps. She takes a bunch of little cat naps on my chest throughout the day. )

@lawbee11: our gap is so expensive! I love it and live close enough to the border that I sometimes buy stuff online and ship it to our mailbox there but the online sales weren't nearly as good as what you found in store!
However I popped into children's place the other day and they had a big bin of stuff for $1.00 each. Mostly t shirt a and shorts so I stocked up in the 9-12 and 12-18 mos sizes.

@StrawberryBee: I felt the same way about swaddling. We'd get her sleepy and then try to swaddle and she would be awake and screaming so we quit.

@JamieLee: we got Natalie a parrot costume from old navy. They had a decent selection in size 0-6months. I think it'll still be big but not ridiculously so. They're on sale 40% of so it was oh like $15.00.

    http://oldnavy.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?cid=98801&vid=1&pid=641416003

0-6 isn't listed, but I swear in store most of them came in that size. The mermaid, owl, lion and unicorn for sure.

@MrsB2012: so cute! I Have that outfit in 6-9mos size and I'm excited to get to use it.

@Mrs Hedgehog: also adorable! I nurse to sleep too. I read that's one of the sleep habits I'll live to regret but it works so well or now!

  23. MrsB2012

    nectarine / 2466 posts

@StrawberryBee: that little lamb costume is the cutest costume I've ever seen! Love it! You'll have to post a pic it on

@delight: I stocked up when I was pregnant and saw sales too. The thing is I love the pampers swaddlers and I have a bunch of Huggies that I bought while pregnant. I used the Huggies when she was first born and hated them as she would leak out of them. So now I have a bunch of Huggies I got on clearance and I'm afraid to use them. I also have a big box of Pampers baby dry but don't want to open them. I was going to try and return them but I can't remember where I got them from.

@Mrs Hedgehog: haha so cute! such a big smiley face!

    @.twist.: Aww I love seeing daddy/babe pictures

@Sapphiresun: I love the jacket, it's so cute and warm. The pants are really light though, I don't like them, they don't seem to be as nice of quality as most the other stuff.

  24. MrsB2012

    nectarine / 2466 posts

Oh yeah, I was going to ask.. For those of you who have your babe sleep in your room, when are you planning on transitioning them into their own room? B sleeps in a cradle in our room. I like it because I can sleep and not worry about her as I can hear her and know she's close by. DH has started to ask when I'm planning on moving her into her own room. I was thinking around 4-6 months but I don't know?

  25. StrawberryBee

@.twist.: finally got e to go to sleep! Hope it lasts a while. And aww, love the pic

@Mrs Hedgehog: there is nothing better than that big gummy grin beaming up at you

@MrsB2012: thanks! I love sheep ^_^. I bet you could return the dipes anywhere that carries them for store credit.

It's funny, I actually debated putting her in the crib tonight, but I think DH would miss her too much. And the pnp had a ton of clean clothes in it that I couldn't move as I didn't have a hand free.

She doesn't bother me being in our room, and it's definitely convenient. I think we'll just play it by ear. I do want her to be able to sleep on her own.

  26. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

@MrsB2012: Our health region recommends babies rooming in until 6 months. I feel like she's getting pretty close to too big for her bassinet already though, so maybe she'll end up in her crib sooner. She still ends up in bed with me most nights, since Dh can't handle my snoring (that fired up when I was pregnant and never went away) so he sleeps in the guest room most of the time.

  27. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Mrs Hedgehog: forgot to say that I love the smiles! She's adorable!

@MrsB2012: I love the pampers swaddlers too. Do you not like baby dry? Or just prefer swaddlers? I couldn't swaddlers size 3 so bought baby dry for those. I've since found size 3 swaddlers. Oh well. It'll be months before I use them anyways.
We transitioned at 3 weeks. She sleeps so much better in her own room. Plus I wasn't sleeping well listening to all her noises. I know lots of people who waited 6 months though! I started putting her down for naps and the last stretch of the night in her crib and she was fully transitioned in about a week.

L just had her longest stretch : 6h45m. She could have gone longer but I was starting to worry so I went In to check on her. I ended up startling her awake when I put my hand on her. Oops.

Oh my gosh...I have gotten SO far behind! I scanned through the other posts...I cant respond to everyone but here goes some of my thoughts:

-I definitely dont bath every day (as my ped recommended) I usually give her 2 full baths a week. I do wipe her down with a wash cloth (face, tush and belly button) every night before putting lotion on and starting our "bedtime routine"
-We dont have a bedtime routine perse, however I always do her 9pm and later feed (depending on her routine that day) in the bed, lights off, sound machine on and immediately swaddle and lay her in the bassinet afterwards. Not sure if it works but it cant hurt.
-I got my first 5hour stretch at 3.5 weeks. It was a one time deal though. We hit 4 hours often but not 5.
-I was planning to keep K in our room only until 6 weeks but I am thinking it may be more like 10. I am just not comfortable enough to think about moving her yet (she is 4 weeks tomorrow) so I am already thinking about pushing it out.

K had her Peds appt last Tuesday (at 2.5 weeks) she was 7lb 8oz (which is 6oz up from birth weight and 12oz up from our last appointment) I was pleased but my Ped was not. He told me to feed her one a 2 hour cycle during the day and let her sleep all she wants at night. Ugh - now I totally feel like a non stop feeding machine. AND I haven't been able to pump at all basically b/c on that short time I dont stock up much milk. In two days I have gotten barely 2 oz. UGH!

K is 4 weeks tomorrow - she has just started smiling but we have yet to capture one on film. I am feeling so much more comfortable with her these days. We're going to Target and JoAnn's tomorrow to get stuff to make a diaper cake for my sisters baby shower (next weekend), we also have to prep for K's baptism (next Sunday) - ugh next week is going to be chaotic!

Glad everyone is doing well - I love seeing all the pictures!!!

This is a bit of a TMI, but also a WTF. When I went upstairs to go to the bathroom a little while ago I found out I was bleeding (very little) again. I guess I should hope this is AF returning and not a sign of anything more dire, but seriously? So much for BF'ing delaying it!

@Mrs D: Awww... so cute. Nice to see another fair baby! I always think she has so much less hair than all the other babies on this thread, but I think it's just blonde too.

@StrawberryBee: For real? I went back on the pill last week, and my dr explained that because it was progesterone only, you take it straight through, and should expect your period on day 21, and I was like "Hell no, I better not get my period". This is very disconcerting...

@redsmarties: I can't believe it either. I was getting her onesie and stickers together to do her 2 month picture (tomorrow!!) and can't believe it's already. I was like - I'm almost done 1/6 of my mat leave!

I think I scared my boss by bringing Maddy and Charlie, he sent me home for another week and offered to pay 1/2 our daycare for Maddy! The thing is though, I can only go back 3 days a week for 4 hours at a time. There just isn't enough of me to go around. I'm applying/inquiring about a work at home position I found out about a month ago, that will compensate for my lost hours hopefully.

I have my 8 week check on Monday, and Charlie gets her shots on Thursday, along with her big sister and brother. Maddy is getting her 2 year old shots on her birthday

@MrsB2012: Paige leaked out of the Huggies too. We just used them during the day and changed her diaper a lot (in case of leaks). We hadn't intended for Paige to room with us. Maybe she'll go in the crib when she starts doing longer stretches at night. I want her in there by 3 months for sure.

@Mrs D: I'm scared to start planning for Paige's baptism. It seems like so much work that I don't have time to do! My mom has got material for making her dress though.

@StrawberryBee: Could the bleeding be a bit of the last of the lochia? I guess you'll find out if it picks up.

@StbHisMrs: Your boss must really appreciate you to offer to help with daycare! I hope the work at home position works out!

@.twist.: Aww, I'm sorry. It takes so much longer to settle them when it's a big poo too.

My FIL was over tonight. He loves holding the baby, which is really sweet, but his soothing techniques suck! He gets all tense when he holds her, so she almost immediatley starts to cry and then he starts saying "nonononononononono" in a super high pitched tone. Riles her up even more. I told him about shhing, but he won't do it. Drove me crazy - luckily he lives 9 hrs away.

@Grace: can that happen 8 weeks pp? The last time I bled has to be over 3 weeks ago now. There's been nothing since yesterday afternoon.
