So....I don't want to jinx it but I think I have been having contractions every 5-8 minutes for the last hour and a half or so. Maybe that membrane sweep really did something...or maybe they will fizzle out. Who knows?! I kind of wish my water would just break so I knew for sure

@abmamma ahhhh! Fingers crossed that this is the real deal for you!!!
I just walked about 3.5 miles. Had to take a break halfway. I feel like my pelvis is going to split apart. I hope this does something, otherwise I'm going to be really mad I made myself suffer for nothing, LOL. I am having some painful contractions now, but nothing out of the ordinary for me.
Does anyone else occasionally get a tingling feeling in your boobs/nipples? I am guessing it's just the equipment getting ready to start working, but I have noticed it a lot more recently. I also occasionally notice a few little drops leaking out on my bra.

@abmamma: Ahh!!!! So excited. I love reading potential labor updates.
@MrsADS: I'm impressed you walked that much in one go. Any time I tried to walk later in pregnancy I just got frustrated at how slow I was.

@abmamma: ooh yay keeping my fingers crossed for you!
@MrsADS: I don't get tingling but I am definitely noticing a tiny bit of leaking.
I'm really hoping our long walk & spicy dinner helps me a long. I can't believe I haven't had a single labor pain this whole pregnancy!

@abmamma: that's exciting!! will be watching for updates!
@MrsADS: good for you! DH and I try to walk our dog at least a half mile every day and I am hoping it helps! No tingling or leaking at all for me. Boobs are sore though.
@buttermilk: for you!! You've been having BHs though, right? Just completely non-painful or crampy ones? Pretty amazing that you've gotten to 2cm without any pains - maybe a good sign that labor won't hurt as much?? Not that I know anything but seems like that would be the case!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@LauraBear: yeah that's true, I have BH's all the time, they just don't hurt even a bit! Having a lot this afternoon, I even started keeping track just for fun lol.

Been having Braxton hicks roughly every 10 mins apart while I've been sitting on the couch for the last hour. Don't hurt at all tho just tight. Think it means anything? Ugh why am I even asking!?
nectarine / 2262 posts
@buttermilk so hard to say... I think if they are really regular that's perhaps a good sign?? But, if they aren't hurting or uncomfortable or anything... IDK. I'd probably go out to dinner, do whatever you're going to do but keep an eye on them, see if they get closer together. Sometimes I think changing activities will stop/start BHs... like, going for a walk, or drink a glass of water, or something, but real labor will not stop and will get closer together (or so I've been told).
I have runs of frequent BHs like that but I figure if they are not really hurting... it's probably just something to keep an eye on.

@buttermilk: It seems like your BHs are doing something to help your body progress! But I think it may not mean much in terms of immediate action until they actually hurt. My closest coworker friend said her early contractions didn't hurt at all, though, and my mom said the same thing. They both said it wasn't until after their waters broke, and that was when the contractions ramped up to a painful level.
I believe my coworker but my mom's memory is a little suspicious - I am her oldest and she has said I was 14 days early and then 10 days early and then 17 days early. Make up your mind, woman! Haha.

@MrsADS: @LauraBear: yeah I know you guys are totally right. Better to not get my hopes up too! My mom also has the worst memory!!!!

Ugh- having painful contractions every 4-5 mins. Went to hospital and got checked but only a 2-3. Walked for an hour and thought for sure I'd make some progress give pain level but they sent me home and toe to take a Tylenol and Benadryl and get some rest. I may have ugly cried for a few mins. Supposed to come back when water breaks or am 2-3 mins apart.

@abmamma: sorry lady, but at least you are on your way!! get some rest!

@abmamma congrats, wow that sounds like a crazy night you must have had!!! Welcome baby!
I need someone to talk me down from the crazy. I just feel like my belly is smaller this morning since I got up. I don't know. My husband says he thinks it looks smaller. I ran a few errands and of course had about 8 people ask "when are you due?" and when I said "in a week and a half" literally ALL of them started going oh you are so small, I would never have guessed you are so far along, blah blah.
I have been measuring behind this whole time and baby is fine on ultrasound. I'm assuming he probably just dropped a little more. My husband says maybe I should call the doctor. That's crazy, right?? I mean, I think I would feel dumb going just to say "I think my belly looks smaller." I don't know...
Edited to add: also this morning, I ran into the grocery store for like 10 minutes to get a few things. While I was there, I got a very bad wave of dizziness, like had to hold onto the cart. But it only lasted a minute or two. And I was really hungry so I thought maybe low blood sugar or something?
cherry / 215 posts
@MrsADS: I'm sure he just dropped some more!! One of my favorite bloggers just had her baby two weeks early and she was always measuring kind of small. He is perfectly healthy just small - 5lbs 10oz. Sounds tiny but his dad was only 6lbs when born. Can't really speak to the dizziness, though. Sounds like low blood sugar?
But if you want to call the nurse/doctor, you should call! Wouldn't do any harm, I'm sure.
nectarine / 2262 posts
@Laurabear yeah, that's what my OB always says. So, I think unless I start feeling really weird or something is wrong I'll probably not call. It was just like all those people were messing with my mind!!

Have been feeling impatient for baby to get here since I was two weeks early (I think!) and have been having some crampy BHs. But my mom just bought her ticket to come out here.. finally! And she isn't coming until our due date. Kinda stinks because if he comes early, then she'll miss the very beginning. But if he doesn't come until due date or a week later, she'll be right on time! Just what I need to get through the next few weeks
Hope you guys are hanging in there!!

spiciest Chinese ever last night and it did a whole lot of nothing ha.
I was mega uncomfortable trying to sleep last night. Having a hard time taking deep breaths when I lay down and it seems like it's getting even worse. Also happens whenever I have a BH. Usually it settles down after a few mins of lying but last night I felt like it kept waking me up throughout the night.
Not sure how I will survive this wknd with nothing going on, just going to try and take my mind off baby. Like that's even possible.
nectarine / 2262 posts
@buttermilk hang in there lady! Thinking of you. You're getting so close! I would try to relax and do stuff you can't do once the baby gets here... like lay on the couch and watch a movie and eat take out or something!
@Laurabear it's tough knowing when to have parents come! My mom is going to fly down but she's planning on waiting till I go into labor or have the baby.
I feel both your pain on the endless BHs. Is anyone still pregnant on our due date board or is it just us??
cherry / 215 posts
@MrsADS: @buttermilk: it feels like it's just us but I know there are others out there! Maybe they aren't FTMs so are more patient??
Yes, good idea to do something this weekend you wouldn't otherwise. Besides dinner tonight with a friend, my weekend is empty. Decided I'm going to go to a friend's winery bday party on Sunday even though I originally wasn't going to go since not drinking at this point is torture But definitely would be a pain to do with a baby so bring on the date nights and going to the movie nights...

I'm thinking something maybe is starting to happen over here. Baby was very wiggly last night and I had a very hard time falling asleep. Continued to have that feeling of restricted breath, until I think I may have literally felt her drop, breathing has been easier since. Nothing through the night but I woke up at mild period cramps at 7am. They were constant at first, and now are accompanied by tightening. They have been pretty close together for most of the morning. Maybe 3-5 mins but only lasting 20 secs or so. Certainly not super regular and space out more with activity. But it's definitely sensations I have never felt before. Wrapping from back to front, very low. I'm sure it's progress even if it may still be a day or two away. We went to brunch with friends, and I'm gonna try to walk around and have a normal day for as long as I can. Eeeeek! God I hope this is it!

Took a walk and they sort of fizzled out. Back again now that I'm lying down. How do you know the difference between "false labor" and just "early labor"?
pear / 1788 posts
@buttermilk: oh man! I'm not sure, as I was induced... Keep timing them, and follow the 5-1-1 rule before calling your midwife! Hopefully this is it and you aren't doing this for another week!

I've been following the boards but haven't posted in a while. So happy for all you mamas who have had healthy and beautiful little ones! I'm 1 week away from my due date and feeling so ready.
Has anyone else felt more nauseous than usual? Agh.im so nauseous after eating. Not dilated at all. Second baby ! My first son came 2 days early... So ready to hold this little guy in my arms !!!!!

@mommygrace: welcome back! Sure hope you have a good last week! Yay for more august babies!
cherry / 215 posts
@buttermilk: I'm not sure about the false labor vs. early labor except for the obvious progression. But period-like cramps sound promising in any case! Hope you are progressing!!

@buttermilk: Walking made mine fizzle out! When I was in the hospital they had me walk around and they went from being very close together to like 7 or 8 minutes apart. They had me sleep for a couple of hours and they went back to less than three minutes apart. Lay down on your side maybe... that's what worked for me.

@mommygrace: welcome back! I haven't been feeling nauseous but have had some diarrhea the last few days so my stomach hasn't been feeling the best. Still two weeks til Edd for me!
nectarine / 2086 posts
Not in labor over here. Not yet at least! They started up again while I was watching a movie on the couch this afternoon. About 8 mins apart for an hour but nothing very painful. Then stopped when I got up. I did have some extreme waves of nausea and ended up with awful diarrhea for a spell, then nothing again. Went to an awards ceremony with DH - he was up for an award in his field. Felt a little crampy again for a while and now nothing. Going home to relax and who knows maybe they will start up again tomorrow!

@Mrs. J I agree with you! Baby come out!!! After all the preterm labor he seems like he's decided he's in it for the long haul and not interested in going anywhere anytime soon... I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. Tons of BH contractions (as usual) but nothing much going on!
cherry / 215 posts
@Mrs. J: Haha, is it your birthday or something? Sigh August 17th sounds like a great day! But like @MrsADS: nothing is really going on over here except for the same crampy BHs I've had for a week. Pelvis is feeling achier than before but I also did a lot of walking and house work this weekend. Little guy still needs to bake a while I think!
