@Mrs. Microscope: Happy early anniversary!
@getjazzy: Cute!! I'm definitely showing now and I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow. I'll start telling people at work after our NT scan next week and I'm glad because I feel like it's so noticeable!
@krispi: Yay for good results!!!! It should be covered if it's due to age. My insurance wouldn't cover mine even though I had a previous pregnancy with a chromosome abnormality. I still only ended up paying $200, though.
@Torchwood: That sounds like a great fit!! For me, that would be worth the extra $$$!

@Torchwood: Congratulations! Girls are so fun!
@getjazzy: You look adorable! My bump is getting a bit more obvious too, so I'm sure people at work are wondering.

I'm getting so excited for our NT scan!! I had lots of ultrasounds last time because of GD and I always looked forward to them so much (even though I was a little nervous each time). I have a 4 day weekend because I'm taking Tuesday off for appointments. 2 more hours of work left for today!!

@raspberries: @lilteacherbee: @MrsStormy: Aww thank you ladies!! Most of it is leftover from Lo1 and bloat but whatever :).
I'm super excited for our scan too (although a little nervous too of course). I also took Monday off to go for the scan so I'm sooo looking forward to a 3 day weekend even though DH works. I have a horrible cold right now and totally lost my voice so today's work day has been interesting to say the least.

Got to check in on the baby today. 8w4d. Still have the SCH but otherwise all is well! It looked more luge a baby and less like a blob!

@lilteacherbee: @Mrs. Microscope: I do agree that if she winds up being as perfect as she sounds in her email, she's worth the cost. And DH will wind up agreeing to it if I explain (and put my foot down). He's heard two different midwives say that it's very important I have a good doula, thankfully, so he doesn't just think it's something I've read about and decided I needed for no good reason. He's just the frugal one in this relationship, so it'll be hard to get him to come around without being upset about it. Though he won't research it himself, so I can play up the fact that I underestimated and play down the fact that she's still higher than average. Also, I haven't decided if I'm set on placental encapsulation yet, and if I decide not to do that it's $200 cheaper. Though I won't mention that yet and if I decide against it I can tell him later and he'll be pleased that it's cheaper. And she's definitely 100% the best so far. Of the 5 I emailed that I liked based on their websites, 4 have gotten back to me. 2 are actually good fits but aren't taking new clients (one is pregnant (with her 10th!), one just had a baby). The 3rd is a bad fit. She has no experience with traumatic births, is younger than me, and honestly it just didn't feel right reading her email. (Can you say you don't "click" with someone just from email?) So the one I like is also the only current contender, in addition to being perfect.
I'm jealous of all these ultrasounds! (@MrsADS: So cute! I love when they start to look like a baby for real!) Since we did the genetic testing, no NT scan. It would tell us less than we already know. I am going to insist on having the anatomy scan as early as possible (they say 18-20 weeks, so I'm going for right at 18). Unfortunately, the excitement of a good screening and knowing she's a girl is already wearing off, and I'm starting to worry about the anatomy scan. Because R had no genetic issues and would have had a good screening too, so I can't help but worry that it's not enough. What if there's something wrong with me that's not genetic that somehow causes my babies to have hydrocephalus? That makes NO sense, but it's scary. As much as I'm dreading the anatomy scan, I'm looking forward to it being over (and good!). I'm going to journal about it now, and see if getting some of these worries out might help. Blah. (Also, side note, based on googling, it's too early to detect a hydro, so there's no point in asking for an ultrasound for peace of mind.)

And having just complained about the anatomy scan, I got a phone call about scheduling it. They're totally on board with making it as soon as I hit 18 weeks, so it'll be early the week of March 9. They have to talk to MFM to get the exact time (they have much better quality ultrasound machines, so given my history they're doing it there), but it'll be as soon as possible. So yay!

And my weekend is ruined. We are still going, but I just had to pick DH up at work... His whole department was just laid off.
And now we don't have insurance, and nt scan is 1.5wks away. So many emotions and anxieties...
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Torchwood: Anxiety sucks. I get the thoughts and fears that don't even make sense though. Because my first had Monosomy X and my second was a completely healthy boy, I'm terrified that every time we have a girl, the same thing will happen. Irrational, but I can't shake it.
@Mrs. Microscope: That's awful!! I'm sorry. You don't even get your insurance through the end of the month?

@Mrs. Microscope: Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Does your job have health insurance you can sign up for, or can you do COBRA until a new opportunity arises?
@MrsADS: Awwwww!

@Mrs. Microscope: Oh no! That must be so scary right now!
Having been through layoffs before, you may have options for insurance. If you have benefits through your job, this should count as a qualifying event for you to switch. If not, you should be able to continue your current coverage through COBRA for a certain timeframe, although that does tend to be expensive because you have to make up for whatever the company was previously paying.
I know it will be hard, but try to enjoy your weekend and not stress out too much.

Anyone else feeling different emotionally in a way other than the usual crankiness and weepiness? I've been feeling so lovey the last couple of weeks. Especially towards our animals. I think part of it is that we had a very difficult foster kitty that made me appreciate my fur babies more, but I swear they're just cuter and sweeter than ever! I just want to cuddle them all the time.

@Torchwood: I'm sorry your still struggling with fear, that would be really hard, but I also think really normal. I'm so glad you have such supportive medical professionals working with you.
@Mrs. Microscope: I'm so sorry! That is so stressful! I hope you can figure out a good option like some the ones posted here for a new or temporary insurance.

@Mrs. Microscope: oh my gosh that's awful I'm so sorry! Maybe you can sign up for Cobra or get covered under obamacare?
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Torchwood: just the usual extreme emotions for me. lots of crying, lots of freaking out at DH. Poor thing, I've really surprised myself lately! Must try to control it more!!
And sorry you are still struggling with fear too. Just remind yourself of those positive affirmations!

@Mrs.Microscope I do health/health insurance law for a living, so if you have questions about getting covered under the ACA let me know. I would definitely check out healthcare.gov, you will probably be eligible for a tax credit. It will be cheaper than COBRA.

@MrsADS: Yay for a good ultrasound!
@Mrs. Microscope: Omg I am so sorry.

Thanks ladies! We are going to be fine. DH got a great severance package, and insurance goes until the end of the month. We will probably get obamacare until he finds a new job, which looks like it will be sooner rather than later, thankfully! I am self employed, so I depend on his job for cheap insurance!
We decided to stay in Phoenix a bit longer next weekend, as we have time now and are staying with family. And this weekend in the mountains is off to a great start! Everything is going to be okay!

Arg! I hate being sick and pregnant. I have a cough that's been keeping me awake so I finally spoke to a pharmacist and got something to help it out at night so I can sleep. It works ok but only seems to work for a couple of hours between coughing fits. Awake for the 4th time tonight at 3:30 and hoping to get back to sleep soon and sleep straight through until LO wakes up. I normally tough it out without medication when pregnant but I couldn't do it any more. Send vibes of no more coughing pls
