    Had our appointment to hear the heartbeat, and everything is perfect! Baby girl's heart is beating strong at 165bpm! So I'm officially announcing now. I doubt anything will change in the next 4 days before I hit 12 weeks. So relieved! Now to survive the 8 weeks until the anatomy scan.

    @autumnlove: My A1C results came back normal! I know that doesn't really mean much, but I'm hoping I won't get GD this time. You failed your one hour, right? How were your A1C levels this time?

    @Torchwood: Yay!!!! So happy for you!! I think I may be announcing soon too! I wanted to wait until I find out gender next week, but now I'm getting antsy. The way I want to announce (big bro, lil sis/lil bro shirts from etsy) will take a week or so before they're even here after I order them.

    @lilteacherbee: just do it! I'm an enabler though...
    @Torchwood: What great news!!

    I think I have a cold sore now too...I haven't had one in years! Told my principal today. She was pretty good at pretending she was excited for me We still haven't really decided what's going on for next school year, so I'm sure that's worrisome to her.

    @Torchwood: yay so exciting!!

    My non-bump is looking a lot more bumpy today!! Or maybe it's just that I havent poo'd in a couple days. Damn you constipation. I want a real bump not a poo bump!

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @Mrs. J: cold sore twins! Haha ewww!? I havent had one in a while either. Mine is totally on my lip and I spent all day at work trying to hide the right side of my face. Ugh!!

  9. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

    @buttermilk: Mine is right above my lip! That, combined with my zits, makes for a super attractive look.

    @Buttermilk I have a poo bump ALL THE TIME!! LOL. I have bad constipation anyway and with Zofran it's out of control. I take a lot of Miralax which works but makes me huge and bloated. So even non-pregnant I had a poop bump.

    @buttermilk: @MrsADS: I also am sporting the poo bump on and off! Its worse in the evenings! The constipation has been better with lots of water and fresh veggies, but I have had to bust out the metamucil and even the milk of magnesia a few times. Ready for a real bump!

    @buttermilk: I definitely have that pee problem and I'm so glad I'm not alone, I had it with my first pregnancy too but it went away in the 2nd tri. I will try the lean forward method.

    I'm starting to have a bit of a bump for sure, I haven't taken a photo yet, but maybe I will on Sat when I am officially 12 weeks.

    Totally random, but this is so exciting that I had to share! We started telling our extended families the news, and my step-sister is pregnant too. The funny (weird?) thing is that we were born 5 days apart - I'm older by 5 days. My due date is August 9, and hers is August 14!

  14. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @raspberries: that is toooo funny! How exciting to have a sister to share the journey with!

    @MrsStormy: my pee probz have been on and off, glad it's not consistent yet. Hope yours ends soon! I was googling horror stories about women ending up in the ER with a catheter bc they literally could not pee!

    @MrsADS: @Mrs. Microscope: ugh! I'm dying! My doc prescribed colace which has been working but only if I'm super consistent. I forgot to take it the other day and now I'm miserable again.

    I really do cherish this time tho, don't want to wish any of it away. I'll take my poo bump for now I'm still convinced there's a real baby bump under there, I seem to just be so much more aware of my stomach.

    @buttermilk: I feel aware of my stomach all the time too. My husband says he can't tell anything yet, but I know it's grown, just from the way my clothes (don't) fit.

    @Summerbebe: Welcome! Sorry to hear you're struggling with morning sickness. I know it can be awful!

    I'm loving all the ultrasound pics! Thanks for sharing, everyone.

    @MrsADS: Zofran does make the constipation way worse! I hate not being able to poo

    @raspberries: Wow, what a coincidence!

    @raspberries: very exciting!

    Do you guys have any food adversions right now? I can't eat cooked broccoli because the smell makes me gag! I broccoli!

  20. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @autumnlove: No food aversions that aren't normal for me (I'm a crazy picky eater), but the smells of things I don't like is way worse than usual. Lots of random cravings too, and I'm pretty sure nothing in the world tastes better than a satisfied pregnancy craving.

    Announced (on FB, since large portions of both of our families live far away) yesterday, and it went great. (Dammit, my exclamation mark isn't working again. Guess I won't be updating my blog today, because no way I can write about being pregnant with no exclamations.) Got 42 likes and 26 comments, when normally I never, ever get over 10. (I'm very selective about who I'm friends with.) People who never comment or anything were taking the time to tell us congrats and how excited they are. It was very encouraging.

    Also, we went to the symphony last night (they did the music of Zelda, squee), and there were a dozen or so of DH's coworkers with us (with whom we are also friends), and I'm really glad we were able to announce before that. I have no dressy clothes that fit now that aren't maternity. I'm not showing enough for a stranger to realize anything (probably), but these people know me well and have seen me pregnant, so they'd have been suspicious. (Well, some of them. Several are super nerdy guys who I've never even seen with a girl, so maybe not them.)

    @autumnlove: I'm a baker and the smell of freshly baked bread seriously makes me want to gag!!! We make this focaccia every morning that is made with lard and OMG I never realized how fucking awful lard smells, it literally smells like the insides of an animal to me right now. And I make brioche daily, even that smell is awful!!!

    @Torchwood: so exciting! Congrats on the announcement. I've never been to a symphony before, was it amazing?

  23. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @buttermilk: I loved it. It was pretty nerdy, because they had a huge projector screen with scenes from the games and things, but it would have been great even without it. I've been a few other times and always enjoy it. Plus Nashville has a really gorgeous symphony hall that I love.

    @autumnlove: I have an aversion to just about every meat, except for fried chicken. And while I CAN eat veggies, they're just generally unappealing unless I load them down with spices. Which means I'm basically on a diet of carbs and cheese, ha.

    @Torchwood: Ohhh, that's exciting - yay for a successful FB announcement! I'm going to tell my boss tomorrow, then announce over the weekend, probably on Sunday, since I'll be exactly 12 weeks then. We moved to Massachusetts from Pennsylvania after college, so most of our family + high school & college friends are in PA - I'm excited to let all of them in on the secret!

    Ladies since we have a separate board I thought we might start some separate topic posts since this thread is getting huge.

  28. autumnlove

    hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts

    @kayakgirl73: how would that work? I think it is easier just to have a big thread, bump, maybe arrival thread when the time comes? I am not sure!

  29. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @autumnlove: Last time we had threads for nursery planning and gender. But I agree that I'm not sure what else would make sense to be on its own. I think it would be much harder to follow multiple threads than to just check back on this one periodically, especially now that HB automatically takes you to the last post you've read.

  30. autumnlove

    hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts

    @Torchwood: ah ok, that makes sense for topics like that!

  31. lilteacherbee

    @raspberries: That sounds like so much fun!!!! I have several friends who had babies within a week or two of their sister/SIL and they're all loving it!

    @Torchwood: Yay for announcing!! We're announcing tonight!

    @lilteacherbee: YOU ARE??? So excited to see!!!!

    We tried separate boards with November 2013, but we kept going back to the big one.

    @Torchwood: So glad you've fully "outed" yourself! So freeing.

    I told my boss today, which went well. He wasn't super enthusiastic but I think he just never knows what to say in those kinds of situations but he totally knew before I told him. He's been eyeing my stomach for a few weeks now and I don't blame him, it's been hard to hide. He was happy I told him though and can stop hiding. I'm so glad to not have to hide under layers and sweaters because my office is SO.HOT. A few of my coworkers know now too, and the rest will probably find out tomorrow because I have no intention of hiding the bump anymore!

    Next up, family, friends and the rest of the world.

    @kayakgirl73: I've never seen separate boards before for month groups. How would that work?

  35. buttermilk

    I agree Id rather just have 1 board to keep up with, except for maybe a nursery one.

    I had my first OB appointment today (after graduating from the RE). It was pretty uneventful. We met with the doctor for a long time, talking about stuff, going over testing, etc. They took a ton of blood. I had a pap in Sept. so they didn't do one, but she did do a vaginal culture. They are going to do a u/s next Tuesday to check on my SCH. My OB says she's going to do u/s every 2 weeks to check it until it goes away.

    She went over the testing and said they send their patients out to a perinatologist for the NT screening/blood screen which seemed a little weird to me, but she said their u/s machines are a lot better so that's why. Anyone else have that happen?

  37. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @MrsADS: I'll be seeing MFM for my anatomy scan, because they have much better machines. It's because of my history, but since you're coming from an RE maybe they're extra cautious?

  38. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

    @MrsADS: All of my ultrasounds with LO, other than the dating scan, were at MFM. It looks like it will be that way this time too. My OB office doesn't do the NT scan at all, so since I had a loss caused by a chromosomal abnormality, they refer me to MFM, who keeps me there for the anatomy scan and any other ultrasounds (I had lots of growth ultrasounds last time due to GD).

    Sorry I'm still MIA, I'm still suffering from HG, still losing weight and sill so damn nauseous all the time. Well, I still throw up most I manage to get down I hate it
    I thought I caught a cold.... and it was bad because with every cough I threw up.... turns out it's not a cold. It's the flu. Great. Doc let me stay at home with meds, I need to go see her again tomorrow and if I'm not better (which I'm not really) she'll send me to the hospital....
    Last time my first tri was in summer. So. Much. Better.
    I just wanted to give you all an update. I'm sorry I sound like this but I really don't know how long I can do that anymore....

    @lil owl: Oh no! I'm so sorry you're dealing with all of that! Really hope you feel a thousand times better very soon.
