I like thinking about the exciting things!
- I'm excited for my morning sickness to be gone and have some energy again.
-I'm excited to find out gender (18-20 weeks) so I can go shopping!
-I'm excited to do the nursery (we already have the furniture from when LO used it) but I never got to decorate when I was pregnant last time so I'm excited.
-And I'm excited for the newborn baby snuggles

@raspberries: @Mrs.Scientist: @Torchwood: @Mrs. J: Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
@Torchwood: Sorry that your meeting with the doula fell through. How early does one usually start to look for one? I was going to wait for a few more weeks, but maybe that's not a good idea!
@kjpugs: Ditto what @Torchwood: said! I'm looking forward to being a giant (hopefully happy, healthy) pregnant lady!

@FliegepilzHut: I think I'm on the early side, but I like to plan and I REALLY want this specific one. I mentioned maybe waiting till April in some emails, and all of them came back saying they'd probably be booked by then. So I think sometime in Feb/March would be more normal.

@kjpugs: I'm excited about getting a bigger bump! I loooved being pregnant last time. Even with GD, it was a pretty easy pregnancy, so I'm hoping for the same this time around. I'm also excited for when my LO starts understanding a little more. He'll only be 20.5 months when #2 gets here, but hopefully he'll have more of a clue what's going on by then.

@lilteacherbee: So this is probably more teaching her like you train a dog haha but when I point to my belly E pulls up my shirt and says BABY and today she even rubbed it LOL. It cracks us up!! She's not even 16 months so she doesn't "get" it, it's just fun for us!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@kjpugs: hahaha we do the same thing! He's 14.5 months but for a few weeks now, I'll ask "where's the baby" and he'll pull my shirt up. In the past couple of days, he's started saying "bay-ba." I love it!

@kjpugs: I'm excited about sporting a baby bump! And to find out the gender so we can start shopping for clothes and stuff! And I'm soooo excited to hear the heartbeat for the first time next week and announce to the rest of our friends!!

@kjpugs: Right now, I'm excited to find out the gender, to go public to everyone, and to start on the nursery. We have our NT scan and genetic test on Monday, so a lot of those things hinge around the test. I'm also nervous and just hope that everything looks good on the test.

I am excited for a real bump (I loved being pregnant) and for sweet sibling snuggles.

So, had our NT scan yesterday and everything looks fine.... Baby was dancing like crazy and always trying to show his/her butt.OB said she saw gender, but she is legally not allowed to tell us as we're technically still allowed to have an abortion and she can only tell us after that deadline. (stupid German laws)

@lil owl: AHHHHHH so excitingggggg! That's amazing. What is the cutoff for when they can tell you?! Could you tell?
pear / 1788 posts
I am excited to start registering! And I don't like shopping, so its a weird feeling. I am also excited to start telling our friends!
Speaking of telling friends, they are all excited! One friend handed down tons of maternity clothes, as well as a fetal Doppler. Have any of you ladies used a home Doppler? When can you reliably hear the heartbeat? I am scared to use it and not be able to find the heartbeat just because its too early!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@lil owl: Wow, that's crazy!! So interesting how things are different in other countries!
@Mrs. Microscope: I have a doppler and I've been consistently hearing the heartbeat since 9 weeks! It takes some practice, but it's pretty amazing.
pear / 1788 posts
@lil owl: did they give you the picture? Could we guess from that? How exciting!
@lilteacherbee: 9 weeks! Wow! So, I tried it, and sure enough baby's heartbeat was nice and strong at 156! Glad I now have a way to check in on Baby if I have a particularly anxious day!

Hi everyone-- so sorry for disappearing off the face of the planet (or at least Hellobee) this last month! Between crazy fatigue (more on that in a sec), a toddler who has really decided to embrace the terrible twos this month, and work craziness, I have been MIA from a lot lately. As I inch closer to the second trimester, I am starting to get a little energy back so hopefully I'll be able to engage more
So excited for those have found out the sex already!! Exciting....
How far along are you? 12 weeks 1 day
How are you feeling? Any symptoms? Generally feeling ok (no m/s and only a little nausea that has pretty much subsided) but the fatigue has been TERRIBLE this time. I think it is largely due to not being able to rest at home thanks to a very active 2.5 year old. I have really embraced the 9pm bedtimes. Also my boobs are huge already...I have been wearing one of my maternity bras from last time (which I don't think I bought until 20 weeks) for the last couple of weeks. My friends joked that my boobs were bigger than my belly last time and seems like we may be headed in that direction again (ugh).
Best reaction to your BFP news?
We haven't told anyone yet-- really excited about telling my parents. I think they will be ecstatic. Hopefully in another week!
Worst reaction to your BFP news? see above
Any appointments coming up?
Our NT is Monday-- yay! Assuming things go well, we will probably start telling family and close friends.
Anything else? I am really looking forward to feeling baby movement and being able to tell people (except work-- I am really nervous about telling work since I just got promoted and a little worried about my boss' reaction; although I have been to 3 work events since getting my BFP so I am sure someone must be suspicious of my club soda consumption by now.)

I want to add to my excited list that I'm looking forward to when I can just take some dang excedrin for my head! I've been getting headaches almost every day, and nothing really helps.
kiwi / 696 posts
@Torchwood: is there a point in pregnancy when excedrin is ok? I've been sick this past week and been slightly obsessed with what medicines are and are not ok, and I didn't know excedrin was!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@OhCaptain: Not as far as I know. I mean I'm looking forward to when I'm not pregnant and don't have to worry every time I want to take medicine.

@Torchwood: awwww man! I was going to get so excited. Tylenol is totally useless.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@OhCaptain: Tylenol is literally pointless. Even with E, Motrin helps her pain way more than tylenol AND lasts longer.

Oh, DH ordered the nursery furniture (dresser and changing table) yesterday! He did our taxes and we're getting a pretty good refund, so he went ahead and went for it! We also found the glider I want, and he said we'll probably order that as soon as I get the last bit of painting done. Yay!
clementine / 911 posts
@Torchwood: Very exciting to get the furniture!
We went shopping yesterday but didn't get anything. We did narrow down our choice of stroller though. He liked the City Mini the best out of the ones I was considering. We're going to a big consignment sale this weekend, so we want to see what we're able to find there first.

@Torchwood: exciting about the furniture!
@krispi: everytime I look at baby stuff I've walked out empty handed. I just can't seem to pull the trigger yet!

So the Boston area keeps getting snowstorms every time I schedule my NT scan. Last week, we got about 2.5 ft of snow on the day of my appointment, so my doctors ofice rescheduled for today annnnd... 8 more inches of snow so far, and the office just called to say they're not opening today.
I guess I'm glad we're early in our pregnancies during the worst of winter... I'd probably be a lot more frustrated if I was near the end and the office kept closing!

@Torchwood: I'm SO excited to take excedrin again, too. I have a 12 month old so between two pregnancies and breastfeeding I haven't been able to take it in nearly two years. Assuming I BF this one for a year it will be over three years before I finally get to take it again!!
@raspberries: So sorry about your NT scan having to be rescheduled twice now. i hope the weather cooperates and you can get in soon!
Has anyone else been having crazy dreams? I have been having very vivid nightmares almost every night for the last couple of weeks. I hate it! I know it's pretty common in pregnancy but I didn't have it to this extent with #1. I hope it doesn't continue for my entire pregnancy!
pear / 1788 posts
@Mrs.Scientist: my dreams have been crazy! DH has had his first baby dream too! My dreams are vivid and strange, but not about babies yet!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mrs.Scientist: I've been having crazy dreams every night. I've always dreamed more than most people, but pregnancy definitely makes it even more extreme. No true nightmares, thankfully, and the general bad dreams (usually that I'd started bleeding) seem to have stopped. I hope yours stop soon! Nightmares are awful.
I can now say with a great deal of certainty that I've started getting Braxton Hicks already. I didn't even know it was possible this early! But last time I got a TON (got to every 3 minutes on multiple occasions, and never fewer than 3 or 4 an hour), and it's a very distinctive feeling. I've been feeling it for at least a week, but thought surely I was wrong. I couldn't confirm because I really can't feel my uterus standing up. But it happened while I was laying down today, and sure enough, my uterus was rock hard. I'll talk to my midwife about excercise, since that always made them worse before, but the MFM's last time were never worried. Though I was really hoping it wouldn't be as bad this time!
pomelo / 5607 posts
Also, I'm getting more convinced this little tickly bug feeling is baby. It's just too frequent, and too unlike anything I've felt before.
pomelo / 5607 posts
Apparently I'm "talkative" today. DH and I decided on a slightly different carseat this weekend while at BRU. I just looked it up on Amazon, and it's $70 more expensive than BRU, plus $20 shipping (versus free)! I always expect Amazon to be cheaper, but not on this! I'm going to have to pay closer attention to things when it comes time to make some of those bigger ticket purchases.

@Mrs.Scientist: Haha I feel you on the meds thing. When I got pregnant, I was still breastfeeding, but weaned shortly after. I was so looking forward to taking some real meds, but nope. I've been pregnant or breastfeeding for the last 2 years as of this month!
@raspberries: Ugh, so frustrating!!!

I heard back from my midwife. She said to do what I'm doing, staying hydrated (at least 2 liters of water per day) and resting periodically. She also said to contact them if I have any pain, discharge, or bleeding, but otherwise not to worry. So I'll just be planning to deal with lots of BH's again.
Also, heard back from the doula about the no show on Friday! She was very apologetic, and had what I consider a very good reason for it. She had to attend a sudden, unexpected neonatal loss, and then came home to a husband and 2 kids with a major stomach virus. I mean, if that sort of thing were to happen frequently (she is a loss doula, but I believe most of the time she's dealing with expected losses along the lines of our experience with R), it would be a problem. But this sounds like a once off situation, and she was very professional and duly apologetic. Also, their website is down for maintenance. I had worked myself up into worrying that something had happened and they weren't in business anymore, so I'm very relieved! Hope to schedule another meeting with her soon.

@raspberries: what a bummer your appts keep getting cancelled!!
@Mrs.Scientist: I had my first dream about baby last night. Mostly what I've noticed is a sudden increase in sex dreams!! I'm having sex dreams all the time lol.
@Torchwood: crazy about the Braxton hicks! And good tip about Amazon, I also always assume they are cheapest.

Hiiii! We have our 13 Wk checkup this afternoon. Will they listen for the heartbeat? Is that pretty standard practice at every prenatal appointment now? Last time she said it was too early.
cherry / 211 posts
@buttermilk: I would expect them to listen for the heartbeat for sure. Exciting! Good luck.
I'm 14 weeks today and starting to feel like a new woman again. My energy is back up and I just feel GOOD. Yay for second trimester!!

@buttermilk: too funny about the sex dreams. Sounds way better than the nightmares I've been having!! Lol

We went for our NT scan yesterday, at 12 weeks 1 day. It was such a relief to hear the ultrasound tech say that everything is looking good so far. We were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time, which I think was 163.
I tried to watch the screen to see if I could see the nub, but I never did. I don't see it on the picture she printed out either. We did get a potty shot, which my husband thinks looks like a boy, but I think it's too early still to tell. At one point, the tech did say that "he is moving around a lot." My husband caught onto that and thinks it means something, but I bet she probably says that out of habit. He's excited because he think it means boy, but I'm still crossing my fingers for a girl. We'll be happy either way though.
They also took 2 vials of blood for the MaterniT21 test. They said it could take up to 2 weeks to get those results back.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@krispi: YAY for a good NT scan!! For both LO and this one, my MaterniT21 results took exactly one week so maybe you won't have to wait too long! And we need more girls to even out our group
