@Torchwood: Glad to hear that seems to be a "thing!" Spotting is gone (just peed so I checked again) so I'm starting to freak out less.

Thanks everybody for the congrats. Now to figure out a name. Not going to be easy we have a difficult Eastern European last name.

I had an OB appt yesterday and all was well. Good heartbeat and I didn't gain any weight which is good as they want my total weight gain to be not more than 20 pounds as I had gained 20 pounds after stopping nursing and a stressful time at work and with health problems for my parents.

I'm already in Maternity clothes, my jeans from last pregnancy slide down I think maybe they are too small but the new ones I bought a size up are too big still. Too darn cold for dresses at the moment. I have thick legs to begin with so I'm afraid to try leggings.

    @kayakgirl73: a belated congrats!

@MrsADS: I bought workpants from Motherhood Maternity and Gap last time and they held up well. But as others have said, once late spring/summer rolled around I pretty much wore dresses to work most of the time as I found them to be more comfortable, esp. in the heat. One of the good things about having another August baby is I can re-use all my maternity stuff without a problem!

I had my NT Monday and everything looked good. Baby was moving around a lot and is measuring a couple days ahead but it doesn't sound like they are going to change my due date. Waiting to hear back on the blood results. We are going to visit my parents this weekend and I think will tell them!

I think a few of you have mentioned that you had an anterior placenta last time around - did you have any issues, or notice anything different about it?

I (finally!) got in for my NT scan, and the ultrasound tech mentioned in passing that I have an anterior placenta - she said it's nothing to worry about, but I may not be able to feel the baby kick as much.

@raspberries: I was also told i have an anterior placenta, and it was sitting right under my.belly button, so no previa here! But yes, I was told that I might not feel baby until after 20 weeks and not to worry, baby is kicking its placenta instead of me.

@raspberries: I had one last time as well. It didn't cause any issues. I did feel movement earlier than is apparently typical (the ultrasound tech and midwife were surprised when I said I had been feeling it since before 18 weeks), but compared to this time when I'm 99% sure I'm feeling her already, it was late.

Arg. Had a small freak out moment today. Stood up from taking a poo (there's no such thing as tmi here, right?), and the toilet paper was bright red. I didn't totally panic, thankfully, because regular blood just looks different than uterine lining (is that the best way to phrase that?), but still totally froze for a second. But confirmed it was not vaginal. No idea why it happened, since it wasn't a bad poo or anything, but it scared me!

@raspberries: I basically had the same experience as @Torchwood. Anterior placenta, but I felt movement at 17 weeks. This time, I don't have an anterior placenta and I felt my first definite movement yesterday at 13.5 weeks.

@Torchwood I have been having some blood with pooping too. Not vaginal... you know, from like tearing stuff/hemorrhoids b/c it's so hard So horrible! Sorry you had a scare!

I had a urine test done recently and my doctors office called today to say there was elevated levels of protein and ketones. She wants me to redo the test after I've made sure to eat enough and at regular intervals, and to not be on my feet a lot before the test. Some googling offers a lot of explanations but the most likely ones for me are, not eating enough (my appetite has sucked, and I'm so busy at work I don't think about eating), dehydration (my office is 27 degrees (80.6), no word of a lie. So I'm burning all the water I drink.. gotta up my intake!) or a UTI which I assume they would have caught when they ran the first sample. So now I've made a priority of planning out several small snacks so I can eat at regular intervals and up my water intake dramatically.

Have any of you heard this about gender with the panorama/harmony etc type tests? I saw a post about it in a mom FB group I'm in and was shocked! But it's also so interesting. Those of you who got it, did your doctor discuss this?

  12. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@kjpugs: My midwife and genetics counselor never mentioned it! I can email my genetics counselor. I would be super pissed! I've been worrying that it might be wrong somehow, but I assumed I was being irrational!

  13. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@kjpugs: When I did it with LO, the genetic counselor mentioned that a very tiny percentage could miss the Y chromosome and report girl instead of boy. She said in the case of boy instead if girl, there's some crazy rare thing that could make you have Y chromosomes even if you're carrying a girl, but you would basically be written about in textbooks if that happened. I never thought about how having a previous boy could affect that, but I feel like at 14.5 months pp, I really shouldn't still have his DNA in my body?! I'm just going to continue to pretend there's no possible way it could be wrong

Hello ladies! I've been MIA for a few days while we've been in our previous hometown visiting family and friends. Whenever I don't check this board I always feel so behind on various updates, so congrats to everyone who had good/exciting news lately!!

So, I'll be 15 weeks on Saturday, and like a week and a half ago I thought I started feeling movement (waaaay earlier than last time) but i haven't felt it in a few days. Do you think it's too early to worry? I have an appointment next week when we get back home. Or maybe I wasn't feeling movement and it was just gas....
Trying not to think about it/freak out

  15. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

@OhCaptain: Were you feeling the movement regularly and predictably? My doctor said once baby had developed a pattern of when they are active and when they are quiet, if you notice a change from that then you should drink some orange juice and lay down for 2 hours. Goal is 6 movements per hour. I think if you're only feeling movements here and there, you don't need to worry yet but you could also get checked out to be sure. A quick Doppler check would do the trick.

@Mrs. Microscope: @Torchwood: @lilteacherbee: Thanks ladies! I feel better hearing that. I guess I'll just be waiting a little longer to feel him moving around, which is a bummer, but there's still plenty of time for that darn placenta to move out of the way.

I had my genetic screening appointment. I opted for the Verifi screening test and I should have the results by next Friday!

  18. OhCaptain

    kiwi / 696 posts

@getjazzy: no, it wasn't really predictable or regular. Last time I didn't feel movement until almost 21 weeks, so I was really caught off guard when I felt it at 13 weeks this time and the first few times I just thought it was gas/my imagination..
I didn't think the six movements per hour was a reliable test this early.

Whoops had to delete because I accidentally added the pic with my full info! Here it is again.

Had our NT scan today! All the measurements were good and normal. And no anterior placenta!!! Now I'm driving myself crazy trying to guess gender. Skull theory says maybe boy but nub was parallel with back. Pictures did not come out good. Sad with the poor quality but glad baby looks healthy!!!

@OhCaptain: I think it is still early yet for the counting per hour, but once it's more established, that's a good baseline. I think I've felt it here or there, but nothing consistent yet.

Just had a burst of energy and cleared out the baby's room! Now I'm counting down to the anatomy scan so I can find out the gender and decorate a bit!

@kjpugs: glad you had an normal NT scan!

Anybody having any new symptoms? My night peeing is def increasing - sometimes it seems like I get up 2 or 3 times!

Are you guys thinking about names a lot yet?

We were in the beginning, taking a break until we know the sex but I can't help having favorites. I'm already sort of thinking of the baby by these names!

  28. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@MrsStar: LOVE those bursts of energy!!!
@buttermilk: we have one for each but my sister is having a boy and our name is on her list. EEEK.

  29. Mrs. Microscope

    pear / 1788 posts

@MrsStar: I have had more energy too, and yesterday I cleaned the whole condo!

@buttermilk: my sore boobs are just about gone, fatigue is getting better, morning sickness is better, but my sense of smell is out of control! I have also been getting up more during the night to pee. Also having crazy dreams!

As for names, we have 2 for a girl and 1 for a boy. I would like another boy name, but they seem really hard! We should find out the sex in another 7 weeks, so until then I don't think we will worry about it!

@Mrs. Microscope: It's our dads name so it's more sentimental. He died 11 years ago. She's due first though- July 5!

  32. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@buttermilk: No new symptoms I think, just the same ones coming and going. Boobs are really sore today! We already have a probable name. We won't make it official till we meet her, just in case it totally doesn't fit, but we've had it in mind for a while and still love it.

  33. OhCaptain

    kiwi / 696 posts

@buttermilk: we've been thinking of names since we got the BFP. My husband and I don't like the same types of boys names, so if it's a boy, we really need to start now. My son didn't have a name until I HAD to fill out paperwork in the hospital. Girls names are a bit easier for us to agree on.

  34. MrsStar

    nectarine / 2994 posts

@buttermilk: Our boy name has been decided since I was pregnant with LO1. We're struggling with girl names though.

  35. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@buttermilk: We finalized our name this week! It was making me anxious because we had LO's name picked out before I even got pregnant with him, so when we found out #2 is a boy, I really wanted to figure out a name.

  36. abmamma

    kiwi / 641 posts

@buttermilk: with DD we had a name picked out by the time we found out the sex but this time DH seems to want to discuss until we know if a boy or a girl. So our discussions are mostly asking him what he thinks of a name and him sort of shrugging his shoulders! So frustrating!

@buttermilk: I think I'm getting round ligament pains. I was at the doctor yesterday, but they weren't bothering me enough to ask.

We have a girl's name picked out, and are down to two on a boy's name. Maybe one boy's name. OH is a junior, so we are considering "the third" for a boy, but I like our other name better, and OH isn't hellbent on a boy being a "the third".

Had the NT scan this morning. Heartbeat was 160, nt measurement was 1.33 mm, and the bean was moving, turning upside down, and kicking and waving arms. Here's is a pic of full body, head, and the between-the-legs shot! Make your gender guesses now!

I got a prescription for an anatomy scan at my doctor's visit yesterday at 13 weeks, but I'll be back at the doctor's at 17 weeks. I was not planning on getting the scan until 18-20 weeks, is it weird that I got the prescription so early?

The ultrasound place is separate from the OB office, but they are part of the same health system (who also provides my insurance), so they are familiar with how long you have to wait to get an appointment (a couple of days).

Maybe they just did not want me to leave empty handed?

@buttermilk: lots of peeing! We've got two names for each, so we might wait until baby is born to decide! We had one of each ready for DS.
