I had my NT scan last Tuesday and along with that a Harmony Blood test. It's like the Materniti 21. My NT scan looked good and with the NT Bloodwork my 21 odds were great numbers for my age of 41, but my T13 & T21 risk went up to above normal, so it was good that they already had the Harmony test in process. I had been told to expert up to 10 business days for the Harmony Test to come back but I heard back yesterday. All of my Trisomy risks are less than 0.01 perscent so whew. And we found out we're having our second girl. Hubs is a bit disappointed but I think He'll come around.

@kayakgirl73: Yay for a girl! Hope everything else comes back perfect, and that you're able to not worry too much in the interim.
@krispi: So glad your scan went well and you're feeling good about things! I love that feeling of relief when everything is good. And hope you get results soon!

@krispi: Yay baby! Adorable!
@kayakgirl73: Congrats on your great results and little girl #2!
For the love of all that is good, please send healing vibes to my household! We've all been up and down with the same cold for a month now and LO has an ear infection which means the amount of sleep I've been getting is nearly zero. Thanks to this, my nausea is making a resurgence and I'm getting a lot of headaches. Tell me there's an end in sight for these crappy illnesses!

@kayakgirl73: Congrats on a !!! And so glad that all your risks are so low!
@getjazzy: Ugh, hope everyone starts feeling better soon. I know how awful it is to have a sick toddler on top of everything else!!

@kayakgirl73: Whoops, misread that as not having heard back from Harmony yet. So even bigger yay for finding out you're low risk!
@getjazzy: Oh, I'm so sorry. I hope everyone gets to feeling better asap!

For the August mamas who had genetic screenings...how did it go? Do they just review your info and then draw your blood? I am always nervous about new types of appointments!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@autumnlove: With mine, she went over what the test could and could not show, and how it related to our history. I already knew most of it from previous appointments (when we found out about R, when we got tested, etc), but it was good information. Then she sent me down to the lab, and they drew the blood, and that was it.

@autumnlove: Mine was kind of the opposite of Torchwood's. I'd already talked about the test with the OB and told her I was interested, so I did know a bit about it going in. After the ultrasound tech did the NT scan, she went ahead and drew the blood for the test. After that, we met with the MFM doctor, who went over the pros and cons of the test again. I think it was good for my husband to hear since he wasn't there when I'd talked to the OB about it. They said it could take up to 2 weeks to get the results, so now we're waiting.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@autumnlove: This time, they just asked if I wanted it again because I had it done with LO. With that pregnancy, I was sent to MFM for my NT scan and referred to the genetic counselor because my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage due to a chromosomal abnormality. She explained what the test looked for, how it worked, etc. and then sent us down the hall for the blood work. This time, we got the same info, but it was a shorter version because we'd done it all before.

Checkup went well, we heard the heartbeat!!! Baby kept moving around lots and I just keep thinking about having a squirmy lil bean in there, makes me so happy!!
We also posted our announcement on FB so now the whole world knows! My close friend helped us film a video announcement a couple weeks ago so this is how we spilled the beans. If anybody wants to watch, I think it came out so cute! https://vimeo.com/117939764

In case you didn't know, motherhood maternity is having a buy one get one half off jeans sale through Feb 9!!! I bought my first maternity jeans today and they are so comfy. I am going to post on the bump page my 13wk bloat/chub belly in Thursday... I feel like I've gained 20lbs even though the scale reads only 4!
nectarine / 2262 posts
@Mrs. Microscope THANK YOU for the heads up on this!! I haven't really gained any weight and I'm only 11 weeks, but I'm so bloated
What I really need are work pants. Anyone have any suggestions on (cheap) maternity work pants? I am tall as well so can't have anything too short.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@MrsStar: @raspberries: @autumnlove: @Mrs. Microscope: thank you!! It's sooo much fun getting to share the news isn't it!?
Midwife told me today that I "could gain some more weight." I haven't gained any yet. So I took that as a cue to go right across the street and order a hot chocolate with whipped cream lol. I Rly want to start shopping for maternity clothes but should I wait Til I have more of a bump? Like how do you guys buy jeans before a bump? This is all new to me.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@MrsADS: Honestly most of my maternity clothes come from goodwill. Unfortunately, they don't have a separate section for maternity, so it requires taking some time. I've also found Target has good (enough) stuff, particularly if they've got it on clearance.
@buttermilk: I felt this way before! But mostly I just bought things I liked as I found them. Pants definitely didn't fit at first with my last pregnancy, since it took longer to get a bump. I wore a lot of yoga pants early on! I have found that one of my pairs of pants that I got later in pregnancy last time, that were really a little on the tight side, fit almost perfectly now. So I'm kind of thinking I'll do best with some early pregnancy stuff, and then a few things that are bigger for when I get really big.
pear / 1788 posts
@buttermilk: i don't have a bump yet, I am just thicker around the middle. My normal pants fit but are starting to dig in, especially in the evening. Motherhood maternity (outlet! Cheaper!) Had a bump pillow to use for trying on clothes, but the elastic panel should stretch either way. And since its new, it isn't stretched out and the pants stay up without a bump.

@buttermilk: SO cute!!! seriously.
@krispi: Great scan!
@kayakgirl73: congrats!!!
@getjazzy: yay for TG due date twins
pomelo / 5132 posts
@MrsADS: With my first, I wore my own work pants with a bella band for most of my pregnancy. I didn't buy any maternity work pants. At the end, I wore a dress.
@buttermilk: most maternity clothes you buy in your pre-preg size. I like full panel jeans. I want to get some skinny ones--I have bootcut.

@buttermilk: adorable announcement!
@MrsADS: with my first I had some work pants from gap, but by the third trimester I was mostly wearing leggings with tunics or dresses. So much more comfortable.

@Mrs. J: @Mrs.Scientist: thank you!! do you guys like gap maternity jeans? They have 30% off online through today.

@buttermilk: I've never tried them but my girlfriend said she just bought some and loves them.

@buttermilk: Isn't it weird to think there's something moving around in there but you can't feel it yet? I know I still have a way to go, but I'm getting anxious to feel movement.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@getjazzy: are they usually just online? I've never seen a maternity section in gap, but I've also never had a reason to look for it.
@krispi: yes! It's crazy. The fact that we could hear it was moving around made if feel more real for me. What's it doing in there lol?

There are baby sales (I go to Just Between Friends) that have baby gear but also maternity clothes! I'll be going in March- better find out what we are having before that!!!
My sister is having a boy! She just found out. So now I want to!!!!

@buttermilk: She got hers in store, so they much have at least a small section or rack somewhere!

Feeling a little stressed. Had the tiniest bit of pink spotting. Only noticed it while wiping and could barely see it but it was there. Not googling Bc I will go crazy but anyone know if that's normal/ok? I had shoved out my first poo in days a few hours prior (sorry TMI) so could it be from that pushing? Sorry guys I have no idea where else to take my crazy
pomelo / 5607 posts
@kjpugs: No experience, but I've definitely heard that pushing while pooing can cause spotting. Hope you can keep from worrying, I'm sure it's not a big deal.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@kjpugs: I had a teeensy bit of pink a few weeks back and freaked - it was also right after a poo and after googling I decided it was from that. I actually wasn't even sure exactly where it came from. I bet your situation is the same!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@buttermilk: I'm 100% sure it came from my lady area LOL. And it was a few hours after my mega poop. Ugh. Glad to hear that though!!! Wish my appt was tomorrow and not friday.
