    Ok, i swear I felt what felt like a solid "kick" today. BUT....I've had totally random "kicks" since my son was born 2.5 years ago, this one just happened to be where I know my uterus is currently located. Who knows!

    @OhCaptain: true. that. Man those phantom kicks are crazy right? I had a few "OMG AM I PREGNANT" moments in her first year!

    @buttermilk: I'm feeling some movements maybe. It's so hard to tell if it's real or I'm imagining it!

    Omg, if I had any doubts that there's no way I could use CIO (ETA- we wouldn't use it anyway, we're very against it personally) the last couple days took care of it. We got our dog a bark collar, and I've been almost in tears every time she sets it off because she hates it so much. The first time she did it ahe yelped SUPER loud and fell off the couch. I almost just gave in right then. But she's gotten SO bad on the barking, and we can't have her doing that when the baby comes. We tried other training methods but nothing worked. The collar doesn't hurt her, but it scares her. After I took it off today (decided I'm not doing it alone, only when DH is home), she sat in my lap for two hours and started shaking every time the other dog even growled. So yeah, I'm a wimp on doing what's necessary, even just with a dog.

    @OhCaptain: Hope it was a kick! I can't wait to be to the point it's really certain. Though strangely I never had phantom kicks, I had phantom BH's. The current ones are definitely real though.

    Gonna see my extended family for the first time since getting pregnant again tonight! I'm nervous, but I don't know why. They've all been great and supportive. I guess it's just too similar to this time last year. It's a weird feeling.

    @LauraBear: Welcome!

    My nausea is getting a little better at 15 weeks. However I'm still really tired but I think that might be my thyroid because my levels went way off. I'm waiting for my new dose to kick in.

    Feeling some definite baby movements today! Feels like I have goldfish swimming in my uterus with some thumps every now and again

    @laurabear: welcome!!

    @MrsStar: omg so exciting!

    @Torchwood: hey my friend has a bark collar that just emits a citrus smell everytime they bark and the dogs don't like it. They have had a lot of success with it. Maybe that would work for you? I know how you feel tho, my dog is also a barker any time she hears someone at the door, gotta get that under control before baby comes!

    @OhCaptain: exciting! So jealous of your all's kicks. Every time I think I feel a bubble, it's just gas lol.

    Ok can we talk headaches? I'm DYING!! first I thought it was just dehydration, and it did get better when I upped water intake, but now I feel like all I do is drink water all day and I still have this constant headache. I've had one all day. Anybody have tips? If DH massages my head and I take a nap I can sometimes get it under control but it just comes back!

    Thanks for the welcome!!

    @torchwood Let us know if the collar works! Our dog is fine at home but barks constantly in the car. I don't want to have to always leave him at home once the baby comes... I'll try anything at this point!

    @Buttermilk Are you drinking any caffeine during the day? I went my first month (4 to 8 weeks) caffeine-free after being a coffee drinker. But then I started getting these killer headaches that just linger all day. The only thing I've found that really helps is a little bit of coffee.

    @MrsStar so exciting!! I've still got quite a way to go until I feel those as this is my first pregnancy. But I'm starting to feel more pregnant so that's exciting. Love hearing about y'all's experience - so much fun to look forward to!

    @MrsStar: I'm getting them here too!
    @buttermilk: yes to the headaches. Ugh.

  11. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @buttermilk: Omg yes to the headaches. Nothing helps. It seems like I either wake up with one or not, and nothing I do throughout the day will change it. And if I can't handle this collar I may look into the citronella. Though this one cost $90 so I'd rather not have to buy another. This one vibrates, so it shouldn't hurt or anything. But she's just so pitiful!

    @LauraBear: I hate her reaction, but it's definitely working already. When we came home from dinner we could only hear the other one barking (he's much better about it overall, so not worth training him on it), not her. And she didn't have the collar on. I don't want her to set it off and get freaked out without us home. Plus I just have this image of something going wrong and it getting stuck turned on and just making her miserable with no one home to fix it.

    @LauraBear: I haven't really stopped drinking coffee - only 1 cup in the morning. And the headaches didn't start until about 12 weeks.

    @Mrs. J: ugh is right!

    @Torchwood: I tried a citronella collar and an ultrasonic barking device when I lived in a townhouse and my neighbors complained about hearing my dog. The ultrasonic seemed to work better - it's like an electronic dog whistle that sounds when they bark, and only they can hear it. (It does buzz a little bit to let you know it's working.) Speaking of which, I may need to bring that back out once the baby gets here.

    I had a standard 13 week appointment yesterday. It took a little while for her to find the heartbeat on the doppler because the baby was sitting higher than she thought, but once she found it she said it sounded good. Blood pressure and everything else checked out too.

    They didn't have my MaterniT21 or NT scan results when I was there. Then, 2 hours later, they called with the results! We tested negative on the MaterniT21 test for any abnormalities, the NT measurement is 1.7 which is good, and we know the gender! It's a girl!! I went to the store and got my husband a couple of surprises - a pink stuffed animal, a onesie that says daddy's little lady, and some pink bibs. He had been hoping for a boy, but girls tend to run in his family, so he wasn't too surprised. And then we went out to dinner to celebrate. We got back from dinner a little late, so I think we'll call our families tonight to tell them.

    So, here's your "weird symptom of the day" post.

    Starting yesterday late afternoon/evening, I noticed that a lymph node on the back of my neck (lower neck, kind of near shoulder) was swollen and kind of hurting. Today, it's still swollen and definitely tender, about the size of a grape.

    Is this something I should be worried about?! Seems so weird. Maybe it just means I am getting a cold or a virus or something??

    @buttermilk: @Torchwood: @LauraBear: YES with the headaches, especially the ones you wake up with, and then linger a llllll day. I've never had a lot of caffeine, so I don't think it's withdrawal or anything, but I'm considering starting a morning cup of coffee just in case it will help!

    @krispi: YAY! Congrats on a healthy little girl!

    Hi Ladies,

    Today I told my coworkers with a little treat in the breakroom. Last time, I just told one person and let the news spread, but then I had to go through dozens of awkward "I heard you're pregnant" convos, so this time I decided to tell all at once.

    @OhCaptain: The phantom kicks from previous pregnancies are weird aren't they? I had them from my LO too. I agree though and I've definitely felt movement from this little one already. So much fun! I can't wait for the big movements, that was definitely my favorite part of being pregnant.

    @kayakgirl73: Glad you're starting to feel better! I'm still tried too but thinking my iron is super low and not helping the situation.

    @krispi: Congrats!!!

    @anagram: those are adorable!! what a great idea!

    @MrsAds: have you gotten this before when you weren't pregnant? I know there is just supposed to be so much more fluid in our bodies now so maybe it has something to do with that?

    This may be TMI, but I have started "leaking" just clearish fluid a good bit the last couple of weeks. My mom is really concerned about it but my midwife isn't. Anybody else have this? I have to pee all.the.time so am thinking it has to do with that.

  25. LauraBear

    cherry / 215 posts

    @FliegepilzHut: So fun! Did you rent a doppler? Or have an appointment?

    I have heard that some people use the iphone app dopplers and sometimes they work. Has anyone tried? Maybe I have to wait until much later in the pregnancy before that would work? Haven't tried it yet.

    @LauraBear: Hi! Welcome! Is it slightly mucus-y? Almost EWCM-y??? It's normal to have increased discharge during pregnancy, so if that's what it looks like, you're probably fine!

    ETA: Just a quick check-in with my OB! I shouldn't be trusted with a doppler at home.

  27. LauraBear

    cherry / 215 posts

    @FliegepilzHut: It's definitely EWCM-y. Thanks! I am learning not to say too much to my mom as she isn't the best at reassuring me

    @LauraBear: one of my pregnancy apps just said that I may start getting more discharge as our body produces it at this point of rapid growth, to protect the baby from infection. Obviously worth mentioning at visits but should be normal.

    nectarine / 2262 posts

    @LauraBear I'm having the same kind of discharge too. I would say copious. It's gross but I think it's normal, I just use pantyliners and feel kind of grungy!

    @Anagram so cute!!! I am thinking about an idea on how to tell my immediate team at work (about 8 people) at our weekly meetings. Occasionally someone will bring snacks so I was thinking about something like that, so you are giving me inspiration!

    I'm super congested and icky feeling so I think that may be the cause of my gross swollen lymph node - body trying to fight off some kind of virus or something.

    Is work just totally killing anyone else or is it just me?! I have a fairly long commute and that plus the work day - I am just shot. I feel like by Wednesday I am a zombie the rest of the week since I'm so tired. Plus, I'd love to exercise (I'm talking a 30 minute walk in the neighborhood, not gym), pack a lunch, iron my clothes for tomorrow, etc. and it's just impossible when I get home at 6:30, I collapse on the couch, eat, and then I have to go lay down at 8 because I'm feeling sick and exhausted, and if I don't take my Diclegis that early, I can't get up the next day. Sorry to vent - just UGH!

    @krispi: Yay, congrats on finding out it's a girl!
    @Anagram: Cute idea!

    I just got back from my 10 day Florida vacation with DH and DS. It was a lot of fun visiting the theme parks and enjoying the slightly warmer weather. I was a little disappointed there were days we had to wear coats, but then there were days we got to wear shorts as well. I'm getting my appetite back finally! I was able to eat some larger meals on the trip, so I think I'm done losing weight and should start gaining soon.

    @krispi: Congrats on the healthy baby girl! I am seriously getting jealous of all of you that are finding out so soon

    We told my parents this past weekend-- had DD wear a "Best Big Sister" shirt. They didn't get it at first-- my mom thought someone gave her the shirt by accident. They were both a little surprised to say the least but really happy. It was fun. Next up are DH's parents. I have my next check-in on 2/16 so assuming things are still good, we'll probably start telling friends, etc. as we see them.

    @MrsADS: Count me in for zombie mode. I commute an hour+ each way to work and then toddler at home.. Oye vey. I'm TIRED. Although I have noticed I'm marginally less tired than a few weeks ago so I hope it continues to improve!!

  36. Anagram

    eggplant / 11716 posts

    @MrsADS: @getjazzy: I have a long commute too (50 minutes driving but with daycare drop off and pick up it's about and hour and 5 or 10 min each way), but yes....definitely zombie mode over here.

    I take unisom (3 full tabs a day) and reglan (2 a day), so I kind of don't even remember what it's like to NOT feel tired all day long. Like I don't remember what I feel like normally, haha. Sad.

    I *think* my nausea is minimally starting to improve though. I'm 13 weeks, 2 days today. With LO #1, I noticed improvement at 14 weeks so I keep hoping next week is the magic week I can stop drugging myself up.

    I have a regular prenatal appt today, and I definitely have the "what if something's wrong" jitters. I'm happy to no longer have morning sickness, but this early second trimester makes me nervous!
    Also, I'm pretty sure we will have an ultrasound today, maybe (longshot) we will be able to see babies sex!

  38. MrsADS

    nectarine / 2262 posts

    @getjazzy @anagram Thanks for the commiseration! I don't even have a toddler at home so I can't imagine what that is like on top of all this. I am in a little better spirits this AM after some sleep - I am always just crazy tired and depressed and wanting to quit my job around 8pm, lol

    My NT scan is Friday, can't wait!! After that we are going to tell extended family, close friends, etc. I will probably tell my work next Friday (a few people, like my boss, already know).

    And knock on wood, my M/S has been a little better this week!! I am hoping that means improvement. I would love to stop taking the Diclegis so I'm less tired. I am afraid to stop it yet, though, I am going to wait another week or two and see how I feel.

    @MrsADS: Pantyliners - need to stock up on those! @getjazzy: @anagram: I've been in zombie mood too. No kiddos at home (just my dog!) But I am in an evening graduate school and it has been kicking my butt. Classes just twice a week but they last until 10pm. It has taken everything in me to stay awake.

    I have all these things I want to do after work when I don't have class since DH has to do everything on the nights I'm in school...mostly for our high maintenance dog But I just can't either. Hopefully 2nd trimester is where it's at and we'll get a reprieve!
