@autumnlove: Yay for a girl!
So last night, I stopped and picked up Mexican food on the way home from dinner. As I was trying to lay down and go to bed, my stomach was churning. I was trying to tell if it was all from gas, or if I might be feeling a little movement too. It felt different from normal gas, but I'm not quite 14 weeks yet, so it seems like it would be too early for movement. I'm still not quite sure.

Happy Valentine's weekend ladies! Any fun plans? DH will be at a conference all day so I'm waking up early to make him french toast. And making lobster Mac & cheese for dinner. Just a romantic evening in!

@autumnlove: congrats on another girl!!
@buttermilk: we are going to venture out for dinner tomorrow night. I am excited...the in-laws are coming to babysit DD so it will be fun to be out somewhere not kid friendly for a change! And we have an early reservation which means I can still go to be early--ha!

@buttermilk: we are making butternut squash gnocchi and the rest of the menu is still tbd. We are making bread pudding though! Yum.

@OhCaptain: It was fairly low. I felt it again yesterday morning but not since then. I guess I'll have to wait until it feels more certain one way or another.
@buttermilk: We're going to dinner tonight at the restaurant where we got married. Today is also the 2 year anniversary of when we got engaged. We'll keep it pretty low key except for dinner.

Well, I hope I did not just jinx myself. My move gave me a $200 gift certificate to Destination Maternity, and I saw they were having 40% off clearance and free shipping over $100. So I bought 10 things for $105.
I don't need maternity clothing yet, but I'm guessing I will be soon as I'm starting to get self-conscious about my bump in my normal clothes. People at work ask if I'm cold when I hold my sweater closed. "Just thinking" I tell them.

@abmamma: sounds like you'll have a really romantic time! and A+ for getting an early reservation!!
@Mrs. J: bread pudding and gnocchi are two of my favorite things. Yummy!
@krispi: so special! I love traditions
@Ms. RV: hey you gotta catch the sales! I have basically no discernible bump but am in maternity jeans as i type. Although i Rly feel like they are the entry level maternity jeans with just the little side stretchy panels.
DH loved the french toast. He walked with me to the store last night where I bought brioche, bacon, blueberries and OJ and somehow still did not pick up on the fact that I was planning to make him breakfast. Makes surprising him SO easy! Lol!

I announced my pregnancy today on Facebook. I was waiting until the first trimester was over, then I figured I would wait until Valentine's Day, so I could do a V-day themed post. I made my son a sign that said "Happy Valentine's Day to me, I'm a big brother to be." I took a photo of him holding it and posted it. Everyone thought it was super cute!

@Ms. RV: That's a good gift! I love Destination Maternity! I would have been all over that sale.

AnyOne have a standard body pillow they love that didn't cost an arm and a leg? And not one of the special pregnanxy ones- had one and returned it last time. I got an ikea one which was ok but didn't last. (Oh well- $12.) My back issues and hip pain is so bad now I can barely sit or lay down (let alone stand or walk... really I am just a joy. I need to get one to help me sleep. Was hoping to pick one up somewhere tomorrow but have no idea where to go? Or I could do Amazon prime but I hate buying these type of things sight unseen without someone's recommendation. Bueller?

@kjpugs: my husband got me one as a gift from Costco. It's REALLY fluffy, so it's almost too big to work now, but I'm hoping it will squish down with time.
Last time I had a cheapie pregnancy pillow, BRU brand, but I didn't love it. I know people rave about the expensive ones, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much.

@kjpugs: I did a lot of googling about pregnancy pillows this week bc I'm thiiiiis close to buying one. Came across this article on alpha mom and they thoroughly recommended the Newpoint Body Pillow. I know that's still online shopping but their review intrigued me.

Hey y'all. We had our NT scan on Thursday and all looked great! Measuring right on track 12w2d (on Thursday). This week I have finally started feeling better. Not 100% but a significant improvement in the m/s. I am so thankful. Still taking the Diclegis though, so it could be that! I am a little afraid to stop it just yet!
Yesterday we went to our local zoo and I walked for about 4 hours, it was great to get some exercise and sun (we're in FL, so even though it's "cold" it was sunny and in the 60s). Toward the end of the day I started having horrible sciatic pain! It's better today but I hope this does not become a recurring thing, I have never had issues with back pain before and it seems so early to have pregnancy-caused sciatica.
We are going to an outlet mall about 30 mins north of us today. They have a Destination Maternity outlet! So I am excited to see what I might find. I am really needing some pants or something, tops are fine but my pants are getting uncomfortable.

@kjpugs: I have a regular body pillow that I got at Bed Bath & Beyond. I got a case for it there too. I got it before pregnancy when I was having some back issues. I actually haven't used it yet since I got pregnant, but I think I will need it pretty soon.

@buttermilk: I splurged on a Snoogle, but at least I had some coupons. And I figured if I got it now I would use it for 6 months, and with any subsequent pregnancies, so it was worth it. I love it! And it fits in our queen-size bed no problems.

@MrsADS: Congrats on a great NT scan! Sorry to hear about the sciatica. I have been having bouts of it as well, which started at 11wks. I find that yoga seems to help. Good luck!

@buttermilk: We didn't have any plans, but wound up just sort of piddling (got coffee and wandered around barnes and noble, etc) and going to a movie. Which was actually really fun. We had "valentine's dinner" twice this week. Mostly just an excuse to go out for dinner instead of cooking when we shouldn't have. Also, I second that the snoogle is great. DH bought me one back around 7 or 8 weeks, and I've been using it the whole time just because it's so comfy! I don't actually need it yet.
@kjpugs: I'm using a snoogle, but I'm curious about a regular body pillow for later. I can't really justify the space taken up by a full pregnancy pillow when not pregnant, but I think I'd like to have something more than just a regular pillow for my head and that's it.
We did a bit more baby-related shopping! We plan to co-bed (with a sleep nest), so we wanted a bigger bed. We bought a king size mattress on friday! I'm really excited. We've had the same mattress that DH bought his freshman year of college this whole time, so it's 10 years old. And it was CHEAP to begin with, so it's so not comfy anymore. Can't wait for it to arrive!
Also, in case anyone is wondering why we're buying so much so soon, part of it is just that this is a good time financially. DH worked a TON of overtime lately, which he gets paid for, and we had a really good tax return. And we just paid off the last of his student loans, so we have several hundred extra dollars a month not going to that. But more importantly, I think this is sort of our way of whistling in the dark. This is freaking scary, after everything, so we buy stuff and work on the nursery as a way of saying to ourselves that we're not going to let the fear win, and that we ARE going to have a healthy baby.

@buttermilk: We are going out for dinner tonight and my mom is taking LO overnight so we will get to sleep soundly too! Heaven!
@MrsADS: Congrats on the good NT scan! I'm so jealous of your zoo trip and nice weather it's currently -35 degrees C here. Painfully cold!!

@Mrs. Microscope: ugghh I want one so bad! you may have just convinced me
@Torchwood: sounds like a nice evening! it was snowing here and felt so romantic just cuddling and eating chocolate all night haha. I think it's great you're getting stuff now and it makes a lot of sense. I wish our situation was similar but unfortunately we didn't have a lot in savings to begin with and are now scrambling to save every penny until baby comes. My FIL has already been super eager to help us purchase nursery furniture which is amazing of him. Id buy it now but then it will just be sitting here for 6 months and we don't have a lot of space so I think we will wait till April/May. Mom and grandma have also mentioned helping us out so I'm hoping that covers most of the big stuff! I just spend a lot of time window shopping. Oooh and I made a nursery inspiration board!
@getjazzy: ooh nice! hope you get to sleep in too!

@buttermilk: Nursery planning is so much fun. I kind of hate that we have all the decor already. I've been working on an afghan though!
kiwi / 641 posts
@Torchwood: I just think it's wonderful how positive you and your DH still are, after everything you have been through! I would love to start nursery planning but we are waiting until we know the sex.... Although he/she will be getting a lot of big sisters stuff, including furniture, so color scheme will be roughly the same. In the meantime I'm obsessing over what we will get to turn DD's room into a big girl room!

Does anyone feel like their bumpiness waxes and wanes during the day?

AHHHH! My boss invited me to dinner tonight because he's in town with some team members (including the president of the company- HUGE) and they wanted to meet me. So I had to tell him about the pregnancy but the convo went really well. I look too preg to NOT tell him and 2nd tri = it's the right thing to do. ANNOUNCEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA COMING SOON! YAY! Now I can complain in public
pomelo / 5607 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Definitely changes all the time. Drives me nuts.
@kjpugs: Yay! Glad it went well, and the waiting is over!
Heard back from the midwife, everything came back normal on my early glucose screening! So relieved! I can live with GD, but the early test shows if you have an underlying (non-pregnancy) issue, and I did not want that!

How is everyone doing with exercise? Before getting pregnant I'd been lifting heavy weights (think powerlifting) and doing HIIT for cardio for about a year. After taking off weeks 7-12 for morning sickness and weeks 13.5-15 with a cold I feel like a beginner! I know I've lost muscle (that's fine) but I just feel like I need to find a new version of my old routine. I do like the website http://www.crossfitmom.com they have some good workouts if it's the type of exercise you are in to.
Also, I'll be totally honest, my motivation is pretty low! Haha.

@OhCaptain: I'm sporadic. I've done Jillian Michaels twice in the last few days though!
