    Here's my little guy! We're home now and it feels so weird to be here with 2 kids! My toddler is being exceptionally sweet (despite the look of horror on the baby's face in the second pic ) so I hope that lasts!

    Cute babies! Isla is so cruisy so far! Only things that make her cry are getting her bum and clothes changed. We had an awesome night last night sleep wise. My boobs are killing me because of engorgement - thankfully isla is a pretty efficiant feeder!

    @Mrs. J: Yesss, mine too. I woke up this morning super engorged. It took foreverrrr in the MOTN last night to get him to latch because he's still so sleepy!

  12. Mrs. J

    @lilteacherbee: L is the laziest latcher... It takes us several tries each time!!

    This is so hard!!!! Miles is so fussy these past few days & I don't know what's wrong with him change him, feed him, rock him, burp him... Nothing seems to help! He is awake for hours at a time, not crying, just being fussy... Kicking his legs and grunting. Maybe it's gas or constipation? I'm going crazy here. Any advice from STMs is welcome!!!!

    @Portboston: Get some gripe water! It will tell you immediately if it's gas/tummy issues. Such a life saver.

    @Portboston: happiest baby on the block 5 s's if you haven't tried already! Hang in there!

    @Mrs. J: @lilteacherbee: my engorgement is finally settling down. It's been a rough 3 days! But P gained 5.5 Oz in 2 days and we got released from weight checks so it's worth it!

  16. Portboston

    persimmon / 1281 posts

    @getjazzy: I have some....I'm hesitant to use it but at this point I'm desperate!!!

    @Mrs. Microscope: he hates being swaddled lol so that ones kind of out the window. He actually doesn't cry just kicks and grunts (seems uncomfortable). Unless we swaddle. Then he wails up a storm!

  17. lilteacherbee

    @Portboston: I agree, gripe water is amazing. My first was super gassy and it really helped!

    @Portboston: have you tried bicycling his legs? Or sorta frogging them up to his tummy? That could help with possible gas. I also
    Agree with the 5Ss even if you have to skip the swaddle!

  19. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @Portboston: Agree that it sounds like gas, especially if he hates the swaddle. Not being able to frog his legs would make gas pains worse. We have gripe water, though I can't say if it's made much of a difference.

    Okay, I feel a little bad, but I have to admit, it's very gratifying when she's crying while DH (or anyone else) is holding her, and settles as soon as I get her back. Particularly since part of me is really bothered that I can't nurse her to comfort her when she's upset. At least I can still comfort her without nursing!

    @Torchwood: Awww

    I totally feel like a FTM these days because I've forgotten so much, which is crazy because it's only been 20 months... But anyway, how much spit-up is normal?? I don't remember LO1 spitting up this much, but who knows. I'm nervous about breastfeeding because I enjoyed it so much with my first and it's important to me to be able to do it again. I'm scared that the spit-up is a sign of an intolerance or reflux or something. However, I'm aware that it's probably just normal newborn small tummy stuff. He spit-up an average of two times after every single feed and a couple of them seemed like a lot. I did feed him a shorter time tonight and he only had one spit-up after that one, so I'm hoping he's just getting over-full.

    Gah, I had kinda forgotten about all these newborn anxieties!

    Other than that, I'm absolutely loving this baby boy! The toddler is being a bit more difficult than normal, but he seems to really love his brother and is nothing but sweet towards him.

    How's everyone else adjusting?!

    pomelo / 5132 posts

    @lilteacherbee: does he seem upset by the spitting up or is he a happy spitter??

  23. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

    @Mrs. J: Usually, it's like he doesn't even realize it's happening and he continues to be happy.

  24. Portboston

    persimmon / 1281 posts

    @Torchwood: @OhCaptain: thanks ladies! I'll definitely try the gripe water & massage/bicycle legs!!! Im actually thinking it was due to something I ate the other day so no more of that!!!
    Poor guy got his circumcision today... He seems ok but I hate thinking he's in any sort of pain. If it was up to me I woulda left him intact!!

    @lilteacherbee: oh my goodness that sounds frustrating...all of that precious milk being spit up! But it's good he doesn't seem bothered by it. Maybe he doesn't quite realize how small his tummy is!

  25. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

    @lilteacherbee: for now, I probably wouldn't worry too much then. The volume will always seem like a lot, but it's less than we think (usually not just BM coming out) and if he's not bothered, I wouldn't worry yet. I know it's hard not to, but he doesn't sound like he has reflux or an intolerance! If he spits up more like large quantities or if it bothers him or he's having trouble nursing, then I would talk to the ped bc that's more like reflux

    Hello ladies!!! So happy to be joining you all over her!. Night#2 at home and we're up breastfeeding... May try to go lie down for a while...but mostly our little guy wants to be held and eat/suck all.the.time.

    @FliegepilzHut: yay!

    Omg if I thought I was engorged before...they became boulders in the middle of the night!! Also leaking so much.

    We're having a night of cluster feeding here apparently! Everytime I put lo in the bassinette she wakes up and then wants boob. Currently 1.40am and I've lost count of how many times I've fed her tonight. I've also caught dd's cold and feel gross. So so tired.

    @MrsStar: Hope you're feeling better!!

    @Torchwood: Beautiful girl!

    @Mrs. J: I did some of C's newborn pics today! Can't wait to start editing them. Here's one in the camera. Also, we have a weight check in the morning. The hospital scheduled our first appt for us last Friday at 3 days old and I had some concerns about the spit-up. They're having us come back tomorrow, just to check in and make sure he's gaining weight. He was down to 7lb 9oz on Friday from 8lb 3oz at birth. I think the spitting-up has gotten better since I started feeding him for shorter periods, but less spaced out sessions, if that makes sense.

    I forgot how much I really dislike nursing in the hospital. Sitting up in bed is a hard nursing position for me, between my c-section incision and the way my boobs point down. Ready for my milk to come in and get home and figure out our new "routine"

    @OhCaptain: and everyone keeps coming to poke and prod you both anyway!

    Man these hormones are powerful! I watched a short, awesome video of people dancing to Michael Jackson, and I just burst into tears because I stopped dancing at 22 weeks pregnant with DS1 and I miss it a lot! Lol

  35. Mrs. Microscope

    pear / 1788 posts

    @Mrs. J: hormones are no joke! I keep tearing up over the smallest things... P lost her umbilical stump this morning and I lost it! Feeling like she's growing up too fast, and she's only 9 days old!

    Also, hormone sweats are not fun! If I walk more than a block (pediatricians are 3 blocks) I pour sweat! Climb my one.flight of stairs, pour sweat! At least my swelling is going down! Engagement ring fits again but wedding band not quite yet

    @OhCaptain: So much better when you get home!! I was in the hospital alone the first night because DH had his kidney stone episode and it was so hard trying to nurse and get baby in /out of bassinet after a c-section (thank goodness for AMAZING nurses!).

    @Mrs. J: @Mrs. Microscope: Oh, the tears. When my first turned a week old, I pretty much had a breakdown. I've been trying to keep myself in check this time, but now I've got two kids to cry over!

    Weight check went well this morning! He is up

    @buttermilk: Thanks! Can't wait to hear about your baby!! Thinking happy, labor-inducing thoughts for you

    @MrsStar: Yay, healthy girl!! C lost over half a pound in the first 3 days, then gained all but one ounce back in the following 3 days! Crazy how fast they can grow!!
